I watched the Shaq episode last night ( my god that man is a Goliath!), and I saw something I forgot even existed, a squash match. Rey Fenix and PAC (I think that’s his name) crushed a couple of job guys. I was shocked that it was over, I thought I fast forwarded without realizing it. All of the matches these days go for fifteen or twenty minutes, through commercials, regardless if it’s the equivalent of a Barry horawitz in the ring with pushed talent, so to see them win (but with major overkill) so fast, it was a bit shocking. OT: WTF is pac thinking with that hair?! The guy is a tank and can move, but that stringy mop on his head takes away from his look!
Women’s tournament final was the shits, that Japanese girl screwed around too much, Rose looked like a monster, like an Awesome Kong, the entire tourney, to have this clown come in and screw around seemed like an insult to Rose. That aside, the women’s division still has the only stars in the group in my opinion.
Not sure if it was the same episode (caught two last night) but Rey Fenix and that big dude with the red braid thingies was pretty bad. That big dude is like at least a foot taller and 100 lb heavier than Fenix, it looked so awkward, that big dude should have crushed Rey quickly. Big time style clash, and the size difference, didn’t do it for me. And weren’t they teamed up recently? The match was confusing to me.
I keep finding glimmers of hope in AEW, they make confusing decisions though, stuff that abruptly ends good ideas or buries talent. I’ll keep looking for the bright spots, but it feels like the decision makers all have ADD. Kind of like a bunch of unrelated one act plays every week. Oh well, the ladies keep it interesting, and maybe FTR will get out of their slump soon.

MJF and the Revival... I hope this doesn’t get screwed up.
Who do they put that group in matches with?! 😬

MJF and the Revival... I hope this doesn’t get screwed up. Who do they put that group in matches with?! 😬 I feel exactly the same. MJF even looks like an annoying twat, a natural looking heel. I think they'll be feuding with Jerichos group for now, let them win that feud and build up steam as a group. I like Warlow too, they need to build him as a monster feed him jobbers for a while. The weak link seems to me is that Shaun Spears, very bland I'd say. I'd personally give FTR another run with the tag titles, but I think AEW will give them to Pac and Fenix before another FTR run with them. Oh, I like Paul Wight as a commentator on that new show, he seems relaxed doing it.

Yeah, one week he’s an interfering camera man, next week he’s part of what could be a pretty bad ass heel faction, never heard of or seen spears before, hopefully he’ll be decent via talent osmosis and not dilute the group. Wardlow is a giant amongst the group, so hopefully they use him for squashes while MJF and FTR ripen him up a bit, he’s still pretty green, but he’s in good hands and has the stature and the look to become a good enforcer.
It’s cool to see Paul Wight back, I’ve always liked his sense of humour, very sharp and funny guy, hopefully it translates well to commentary. The “no more BS” shirt is the cleverest thing I’ve seen as far as merch goes in ages. Hopefully he doesn’t get abducted like Shaq did...

Not sure why Reddit got it's knickers in a knot over Riho/Maki main eventing the first show of that new Dark project, but whatevs. The match was fine. Nothing to write home about. It certainly wasn't anything to cry a river over either.
I probably won't be watching AEW again for a while. It's not my thing.

Same. The less wrestling they do, the more interest I lose in the program and that disastrous death match really came off as amateurish and really soured me. I'll still check out the occasional match now and then, but not really interested in the full program.

Does anyone know if Cody pissed someone off, why is he curtain jerking these days? I was under the impression he was a main event guy, he’s got AA in his corner and even the Rhodes name, but I keep seeing him in matches where he has a hard time beating someone I’ve never heard of right at the start of the show. I’ve liked a few of his matches in the past, it looked like he had potential, I was looking forward to seeing him develop, but this seems like a huge step back and a missed opportunity (and who told him it was a good idea to get that Cadillac symbol looking thing on his NECK?!? 🙂). Oh well, I guess it leaves more time for all of the retirees they keep picking up. Very confusing stuff, I wonder who is booking, very unfocused and impulsive feel to the whole thing.

It seems he has taken a backseat to wrestling to work on his non-wrestling related stuff. Isn't he on some reality game show or something? Yeah, the neck tattoo... I'm not one to criticize what someone does with their own money and body, but I do get the cringe "yeesh" every time I see a garish neck tattoo.

Cody can't piss anybody off. He is Executive Vice President of AEW. I think that it is his decision to step back, let others shine. Occasionally do some match with a celebrity or (like in his TNT Champion time) have a match against a indy wrestler. His feud with MJF was great. Don't forget that his wife is pregnant. I think he will spend more time with her now.

I think Cody will be getting ready to spend time with his child once he/she is born. I wouldn't read too much into him being on early, as others said it will give others time to shine.
Speaking of Cody, he's selling a shoulder injury, but he's doing 2nd rope cutters and Canadian Destroyers. It doesn't make any sense. I like AEW, but fuck me the booking makes no sense what so ever, very erratic sometimes.
And they had better not make a mess of MJFs new faction, that lad is going to be their BIG name in a few years I think. His promo on Wednesdays Dynamite was superb.

That's precisely why Cody sucks. He's also a charisma vacuum. And he looks like a total goober. "American Nightmare", indeed.

They seemed to have guessed right on Britt Baker but there's at least a dozen or so others that could have been scooped up before Papa H or the Owl did, or just like actually be doing stuff now instead of having 1-2 matches on Dark now.

Just watched the "Lights out" main event from St. Pat's. Pretty fun hardcore match that was diminished by the terrible commentary. Truly, I hate when commentators harp on the same points over and over again. Yes, they're bleeding and yes, they're using weapons in.....a hardcore match. Why act all surprised or like it's special? Why repeat that every 2 minutes ad nauseam? I don't need to be told "zomg it's so brutal." It really wasn't. However, it was very entertaining and the finish was perfect, both in sequence and booking.

I often note that Im impressed how poor the AEW commentating goes when it's full of people who are known for being solid announcers. The commentating during the Sting 'match' at Revolution was utterly brought down by the commentary, as it came across as a YouTube Reacts video instead of a match. I know a ton of people love it because you get shit like Taz on Dark, but man it absolutely kills the presentation for me at times.

I actually wanted to turn off the Maki/Riho match from a couple weeks ago because of how uninteresting the commentary was.
Maybe I'm used to there being no commentary or commentary in a foreign language where they sound interested in calling the matches. There's a huge difference between Hugo Savinovich and Taz, that's for sure.
