Heard a Michael Buble Christmas song on the radio a moment ago Instead of changing the channel, I thought "hey, this isn't bad at all" Ffffffff.......

I think you just appreciate artists that enunciate every word they sing. #trappedinthebuble

Heard a Michael Buble Christmas song on the radio a moment ago Instead of changing the channel, I thought "hey, this isn't bad at all" Ffffffff....... Ahh, was he singing directly to YOU? Bublé can do that, even through the radio! Don't try to no-sell, all he really wants for Christmas IS YOU! ;) My moment like this was starting to like Rush. I hated them for years, and in Canada, the CRTC (horrible Canadian bureaucrats/thought-police that make sure you have as little fun and save as little money as possible) will make sure you get LOTS of exposure to Canadian content. I don't think I was brainwashed (still can't stand Nickleback, Avril Lavinge, Beebs, Mendes, etc...), it just kinda happened, I think it started with Futurama using Tom Sawyer on Fry's walkman as he saved the Earth from destruction at the hands of Lur of the planet Nintendoo Sixty-four. The last nail in the coffin for me, even as I fought it, was the Closer to the Heart episode of the Trailer Park Boys ( Ricky kidnaps Alex Lifeson to play for his homie Bubbles!). I slowly became a closet fan of Rush, then realized they're probably world famous and loved because they're pretty godamned good! Didn't like it, but there it was, I OPENED MY MIND after being slowly and unknowingly worn down by the years! :)

I truly believe that the majority of the general public's opinion on Rush as a band is solely based on "Tom Sawyer" (which is one of my least favorite Rush songs) and fuck all about the rest of their amazing discography.
What a shame to live amongst so many uncultured swine.

What a shame to live amongst so many uncultured swine. I rather agree with this, 2112, Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings are all tremendous albums. That said, I'll add that it irks me beyond measure how some people believe the milquetoast instrumental pop slop of kenny g to be in the same genre as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck and Sun Ra.

Honestly, I was kind of like that about Rush until I played the Rock Band series. Their songs are some of the most challenging yet fun to play in the entire franchise (well, outside of vocals anyway lol). They're not a really good "radio" band as Zealot pointed out but they had the concept album thing down pat. They're not my favorite group from the era or genre but I don't dread them now like I did 15 or so years ago. I'll never care for that voice but everything else about their sound is pretty great. And lol BakFu 's interpretation of Bublé Heartburn, mysterious aches, and Bublé Definitely in middle age now!

Color me uncultured, I never understood the appeal. I've tried a few times to give them an honest shake and just can't get into it. Maybe I just hate good things...

I think my music-based realization of Sudden-Onset Oldness was when my stance on hair metal shifted from "DEATH TO FALSE METAL KILL ALL POSERS AARGGHH" to "oh wow, there's a Britny Fox song on the radio, ha ha, oh man years ago"

My realisation was when I was sent on a course by the job centre and I was older than the tutor and 90% of the class (half the class didn't know what a VHS was!). Also I've always liked Rush ever since I heard Tom Sawyer on Chuck and looked into them.

Also I've always liked Rush ever since I heard Tom Sawyer on Chuck and looked into them. I was explaining Betamax (my friend's stepdad was a HUGE betamax guy, swore by it, rented movies and dubbed them to Beta.) to a group of my younger coworkers. I was also relating the story of how the technologically superior beta lost out to VHS because the porn industry started filming in VHS, allowing people to watch porn in the comfort of their own homes instead of sitting in a trench coat in a janky-ass theatre next to pee wee herman... They laughed and told me I'm old.

I remember as a kid I was thrilled by any piece of mail I might receive. Even if it was just junk mail but my name was on the envelope, I was stoked. Now that I'm old, receiving any mail at all just fills me with dread because I know it can only be bills. Coming home to an empty mailbox is a rare joy.

I work in a convenience store so having to ID people is like a constant reminder that I'm getting old.
When I started there six years ago, kids born in 1995 were turning 18 and kids born in 1992 were turning 21. I could handle that.
Now we're at the point that kids born in 2001 are turning 18 and kids born in 1998 are turning 21.
I was in high school when they were born. WTF.
I also had a manager that was eight years my junior at one point last year. That was fun to consider.
