We're just coming out of our deep freeze today. The last four days were brutal. When I came home from work and started up my computer I had a scare when my 6 month old new monitor went all wonky. I unplugged the power and plugged it in again and it fixed itself and I realized it was probably the cold temperature in my bedroom screwing with it. My old PC wouldn't even turn on in the deep freeze temperatures. So I've just left my PC and monitor on all week even when I go to work and no problems. The only heat I have in my bedroom is a space heater, since my house is so old and I don't dare run a space heater when I'm not around.

Hit with a big snow storm today. I'm actually offshift until Wednesday night so no worries for me, but I would have called in if I did have to work. I can't imagine many people showed up at work. Good thing we at least have high stocks. Our stock was so high Sunday that they gave us the option to leave 4 hours early. So cashed in 4 hours of recoup and even had time to go fill up the car and buy snow storm snacks. Apparently there's highway pile ups all over the place, once again reinforcing why I take a month off work in the winter. Only two and a half weeks to go.

Have a current weather warning for a big storm in the works. Could miss us and go out to sea but if we do get it they are calling for it to start Tuesday afternoon and run right to Wednesday morning with between 25-35 centimetres of snow, which would definitely shutdown most everything.
Fortunately after tonight’s night shift I am on vacation almost to spring. I still have to work 2 shifts March 13th and 14th but then I go back off until March 22nd.

Ah, back to normal. Nice, thick, refreshing forest fire smoke blew in this morning from northern British Columbia. I love our new normal. We now have two seasons in western Canada, winter, and smoke. 🥳

Ah, back to normal. Nice, thick, refreshing forest fire smoke blew in this morning from northern British Columbia. Seems like it started like 2-3 weeks earlier than last year too, right? I love our new normal. We now have two seasons in western Canada, winter, and smoke. 🥳 On the plus side, it makes it easier to plan outfits. Winter: Dress warmly 🧥 Smoke: Dress apocalyptically ☢️😷

In the morning hours, my eyes are wide awake. Where shadows turn to cower and sunlight comes to take.
My mind away into the clouds. Just as I dreamt before. On silver wings, beyond this shroud. My spirit dares to soar.
Sounds of chirping starts the day and welcomes with the sun. A ray of promise on it's way. Cast down to everyone.
In a scene I long to be, and wander now and then. Incomplete, I won't be free until I fly again.

We had to cancel the trip to Canada due to health reasons I(both myself and my wife).
However, if we didn't have to cancel, we wouldn't have had an easy time traveling..>South Florida is being bombarded by rain. The flooding is crazy here.

Closest I ever came to Florida was visiting South Carolina every other weekend. Used to live in Oak Island & Southport during the late 90's. Being able to spend Christmas on the beach was mindboggling for a Canadian.

I've never been to SC, but I do hear it's nice.
To keep it on topic with weather, thankfully the system seems to have passed and it should be back to the regular pattern of sunny mornings and quick afternoon thunderstorms.

Just put my old AC unit back in my window today. I can't believe that battered thing still runs after all these years. Every year I keep saying I'll look into buying a new modern model but every year I talk myself out of it knowing this one is still limping along. Was going to see how far I could get into the summer before putting it back up but in my old 250 year old house my bedroom tends to be the coldest in the winter and hottest in the summer. It got so bad a few nights ago that trying to sleep before work only got me an hour or two of not even sleep, but passing out in a malaria fever haze.
We're supposed to be getting some brutal heat Wednesday and Thursday. I'll be working the night shifts those days, but sleeping in the day might be more difficult in the heat.

Now I'm hearing Toronto is going to be hit with rain all week ...and 40*c degree weather (which is an extreme heat warning for us). I can't remember the last time we reached those numbers.
So much for my weekend hike.
