WM40 was pretty good. I still think they would've been better off putting the belt on Cody last year, but they got to the right place in the end. I was not a huge fan of the endless run ins during the Sunday main event but *shrug* people seemed to like it. Bayley vs Iyo was probably my favorite match of the weekend from a pure wrestling perspective. Bayley is on another level with her selling.
As someone who rarely watches WWE these days, I was reminded just how damn good Samantha Irvin is at her job. I love her style and the way she introduces the participants in the big title matches. The footage of her tearing up but trying to hold her shit together long enough to announce Cody as the new champion was pretty adorable.
However, I was also reminded of just how truly appallingly awful Pat MacAfee is. This guy was totally insufferable throughout both nights of Wrestlemania. Every time his mouth opened, he just shouted a bunch of obnoxious nonsense. It was seriously off putting, and the worst thing about both nights. How does this clown have a job?

I don't regularly watch WWE either, but they did a good job with Mania.
The run-ins made sense to me from storytelling because it wasn't random. There was a sense of continuity. That moment with Roman holding the chair, looking in both directions, and then getting revenge from 10 years ago was awesome.
I kinda wish Iyo had won, but great moment for Bayley. I kinda wished Sami hadn't won, but the way it was done was so smart. They definitely have momentum.

Agreed, the company is undeniably hot right now. It seems like there's more going on in the WWE currently that I like than I dislike.
That hasn't been the case in many years.
I stopped watching regularly after Benoit and stopped completely during the Super Cena era of mid-late 00's. I didn't get back into watching much of the WWE until The Mae Young classics began (2017?) The Shield stuff all went down during that decade or so when I was barely paying attention to the product, so that callback moment was kinda lost on me.

I don't blame you.
I dropped off and picked up at various points as well. First time was 2002 when Kane was going to put jumper cables on Shan O'Mac's grapes.
Then I watched intermittently when Bray had his Bayou Cult Leader gimmick, but Cena quickly ruined it. Then I tried NXT, but the people I liked were called up to flounder on the main roster so I stopped.
I did pick it up again with MITB 2022, then watched regularly, even went to a Dec. 30, 2022 Smackdown in Tampa where Cena and Owens teamed against Sami and Roman.
However Roman beating Cody at WM last year made me stop.
Then I discovered Wrestle Universe. I watched NOAH, TJPW, DDT and Ganbare...but then I switched to All Japan and BJW's streaming services. While I enjoyed Wrestlemania, I likely won't be following regularly. I'm loving All Japan and BJW is all right, especially for the price. While I like the concept of BJW Strong and Deatmatch divisions, there is a bit too much comedy for my liking.

I caught the Giulia debut match on NXT. I was excited to see her in ring after hearing hype over the years. She has a presence to her, she looks fit, and carries herself like a star, and I know it was a debut match, but I don’t get her. What’s all of the fuss about? I hope either WWE got a deal on her, or she’s going to really blow up and show something special.
Guess I’ll look into some of her matches to see what she’s all about. 🤷

I think she really made her name in STARDOM, but I've never followed it.
Any joshi I followed was TJPW.

American wrestling audiences make almost every international star look like a nobody when they come over here. So much of a wrestler's aura comes from the fan base. People said the same thing about Okada. Take a wrestler away from the crowd that knows them and put them in front of a crowd that has no reason to care and they lose a lot, especially if they're used to doing longer matches and get put into American TV matches.

She left Ice Ribbon without acknowledging her contract. She showed up in STARDOM quickly thereafter and was given the rocket push. She's essentially Rossy Ogawa's pet project. If you're asking me, she's the equivalent of a Big Fuckin' Move Syndrome edit.
