Just stay six gallops away Memba when we stood proudly on the roof of the Armadillo saloon and cleared out the town? Turns out we were ahead of our time by "encouraging social distancing" for everyone. And hogtying Herbert Moon? "Best practice" quarantine procedures. I'd like to think we were heroes on that day π§π₯π±ββοΈπ₯

Fired up the old RDR2 last week to finish my second (ie evil Arthur) playthrough, didn't realize it's been more than a year since I played. Took me a few minutes of tooling around (and possibly an accidental murder or two) to refamiliarize myself with all the controls, but once I shook off that rust, I was right back in my cowboy groove.
Next thing I knew, like 5 days had gone by and (other than going to work) I'd barely done anything other than play RDR2.
Fuck yeah.
And geese, my fave memories of the RDR1 Fire Pro posse include the games of "King of the Mountain" (ie 10 man fistfights on the top of a narrow water tower/silo), seeing how many people we could jam into/on a carriage before letting Wondy or Joey drive the thing off a cliff, sprinting down steep slopes trying to tumble to see who could roll the farthest....or getting stealth killed by a thrown knife and then trying to guess which bush was concealing geese :P

This game is so good, it has mechanics I'm still discovering.
If you stand at the edge of water and equip your fishing rod, activating deadeye will actually highlight large fish under the surface, so you know where to cast to get the big ones.

Took me a few minutes of tooling around (and possibly an accidental murder or two) to refamiliarize myself with all the controls, but once I shook off that rust, I was right back in my cowboy groove. It has been a while since I played too. I think I had to take a break around September cause I was like physically incapable of playing it in small doses and would go on these marathons that would make life rather difficult for myself the next day. But I've been like feeling that need to play again. I'd love to just hang out in Valentine for a few hours or start a kmock down brawl in Van Horn π€π€ I don't know when I'll ever finish the storyline though. I think it's Chapter 3 or 4. We're in Saint Denis kind of dragging our feet. Dutch is the model of gentlemanly restraint which is weird to see but still cool. I have a bunch of random errands to run (like getting moonshine) and I just wan tto go up North East to see the Frankenstein scientist guy again as I loved that π Next thing I knew, like 5 days had gone by and (other than going to work) I'd barely done anything other than play RDR2. That's so beautiful π’ And geese, my fave memories of the RDR1 Fire Pro posse include the games of "King of the Mountain" (ie 10 man fistfights on the top of a narrow water tower/silo), seeing how many people we could jam into/on a carriage before letting Wondy or Joey drive the thing off a cliff, sprinting down steep slopes trying to tumble to see who could roll the farthest....or getting stealth killed by a thrown knife and then trying to guess which bush was concealing geese :P Loading into the carriage and going on a roller coaster down the mountains was awesome!! π I also remember our "over the side" elimination Battle Royales on the Armadillo water tower as well as the MacFarlane's Ranch one which was a whole lot higher! Scorp had the best ninja aim and hidden instincts with the throwing knife but I was probably the most annoying π€£

Well boys we did it.
I FINALLY got all the perfect skins I needed to unlock everything at the trapper. Every clothing item and every saddle. Holy shit. I may never 100% this game (Algernon can go fuck himself), but this feels special :P

The "Win 3 straight games of Dominoes" Gambler's Challenge can fuck right off. That is all. So, yeah.
I was having so much fun being back in Red Dead that I decided maybe I'd try to 100% it after all (given the abundance of guides, I thought the grind wouldn't be too bad). Restarted the game, plowed thru enough story missions to get the upgraded deadeye, got the legend of the west satchel, and now I'm trying to grind through these stupid challenges.
Fucking gambling. Fucking Dominoes.
I'm stuck so hard on the win 3 straight games of dominoes challenge I'm ready to throw in the towel completely on even playing any more. You can't save and reload during this challenge, but you can just quit out of a game if you fear you're going to lose and just rejoin without the counter resetting. Piece of cake, right?
I go the Emerald Ranch. I win two games of dominoes easy, crushing the guy. Then the pain sets in. I go up 55 to 7 (you need 60 points to win). Mother fucker comes back and I have to quit because I'm about to lose. No problem, I can rejoin and keep my streak going I just need to win one game. OVER TWO HOURS later I still haven't been able to win a single game. The guy just keeps killing me. In one I was up 57 to 12 and the fucker came back again. I was so angry and frustrated, but I just quit and rejoined, no problem.
Then there's a game where I can tell he's about to win (AGAIN) so I back out of the game....but not fast enough. The win registered for him, so now my counter goes back to 0. Almost 3 hours of grinding fucking DOMINOES, down the drain. Fucking furious.
I stood up, put 14 repeater rounds in that guys face and shut off the fucking game. I probably won't pick it back up.
Whoever came up with these fucking challenges needs to die in a fire.
Words cannot describe my anger.

That is some f'n bullshit. I can't believe they did you dirty like that and made you waste all that time.
That's the kind of thing I'd put a game down for a few weeks for.
I wish you could have tagged me in to give that last guy some extended punishment via lasso and well, let's just call it "creativity." π
"You like dominoes, huh? Well then you'll love the way I rigged this chain of wagons to careen right over you!"

lol geese.
My post was made in the throes of my frustration....probably went a bit overboard, but I was very upset. I will definitely be taking some time away from RDR2, but I'll eventually go back and try again....I'm a glutton for punishment apparently :P

Can think of a number of times where something in a game frustrated me to the point that I had to take a break, perhaps none more so than the time that Fire Pro overwrote a day's worth of work, including a full roster reorganization, an edit, and some attire work.

I once spent like 3 hours making Kurt Angle in KOC 2 only for the game to crash. I didn't play for another two months. The same thing happened when trying to make Tong Po in FPR but I relented and played again in a few days π But losing a full roster reorganization would have definitely made me call it quits for a few weeks πΆ

so....went back to RDR2. Tried that stupid dominoes challenge again and got 3 wins in a row legit on the first try.
Games are funny.
Now I have to go find a bunch of perfect, tiny bird carcasses. RDR2 is the hardest 100% I've ever tried to get.
