Just got power back since Friday's big storm. 76% of my province lost power and amazingly the only thing that happened at work for 2 days was the lights flickering. Although I'm due for my third night shift tonight, the rumor is the plant that provides us our rubber took a hit and the shift might possibly get cancelled or at least only be half a shift. They sent half the day shifters home early yesterday and I imagine sent them home early today due to lack of product. Of course every time we get our hopes up of a short shift it turns out to end up being a full one, like last night where the rumor got out we might be going home early and we ended up staying.

Glad to hear you weren’t hit too hard in your area since it sounds like the Maritimes in general were pretty strongly impacted. Hopefully everything will be sorted quickly and there aren’t s as anymore fatalities.

Hey, I hope if there are any of you in the Southeast US or just Eastern seaboard in general that you and your families are okay and not too negatively affected by the hurricane. Stay safe.

I'm originally from Newfoundland, so I was sad to see what happened with Fiona.
I have been living in FL for the past 11 years, and man, the western half was brutalized by Ian. I didn't get hit too bad but that was a bad one.
An online friend of mine in NC was prepping for Ian, but thankfully he said he's doing well.

We haven't even had cold weather yet. Usually I have my winter coat out by now but it's been so warm I haven't bothered. Still going to make my appointment to get my snow tires on next week though.

Nice, it went from 20 C on the good side a couple of weeks ago to lows of minus 20 C over the next week.
This seems to happen around the same time every year for some reason! 😂

Happy Daylight Savings every one! I have chosen to spend that windfall on the C!C 😁 Temperature is a fluctuating nightmare right now. It was a beautiful 70 degrees today. On Monday the high is going to be 73. The following Monday? It's going to drop to the mid 20's as a low. Going from late summer temperature to mid winter in a week. Like today could have been beach weather and it may literally be snowing a week later. I can only assume that the following week I'll be getting chased by a Lakitu cloud! 😭 🦆

We’ve got tropical storm warnings for this weekend. I’m actually on call Saturday. If I get called in and the power went out I would stay the whole day and get overtime for sitting down on my phone just for spite.

First official snow storm of the winter for us today. Only 10-15 centimeters between now and tomorrow. But it's dumping down quite a bit now. No walking today, although fortunately I'm on my weekend off, so no working either.

That's really good that you are off now. Hope the rate of snow has calmed down.
It has been a crazy winter so far. I did not for one second enjoy the weather dropping to 5-15 degrees F for a few days around Goosemas and very much hope to not see that again this season 🙃

It's a weird experience living where I do now, on the outskirts of the San Francisco Bay. Over in Sacramento, it's looked like the climax of a disaster movie recently. San Francisco hasn't fared much better. Me? It got wet and I work outdoors so that sucked, but it's been nowhere near as bad. No power outages or anything. Meanwhile only a few miles away it's like Noah's flood.

I hope things chill out down south for you guys really soon, it’s been hard watching how bad things have been across the US.
Nth, 10-15 doesn’t sound like much, but you guys always get that wild shit out there, stay safe.
2 C (36ish F) here today, looks like it will be sunny and warm here for at least the next week, I know there’s a receipt for this spell of nice weather coming to us in February!

I live in Northern California and last week I was at my job working outside. It was raining but I had rain gear on, so I was alright. Then there was a bright flash of lightning. A few seconds later the thunder rumbled and then things got crazy. The wind started blowing and so much rain came down it was like a sheet, and it was coming in sideways because of the wind. After about a minute it let up and then the hail started. It only lasted about ten seconds, but it came down hard. Several power poles and a lot of trees were blown over leaving part of the town with no power. I had a small tree fall in my yard and my brother had a huge one that luckily fell away and not on his house. Later I heard that it was a tornado that caused all that to happen.
