It's entirely possible. Like I said, it was just the similarity to how heavily pushed ZSJ was and it's similarities that are happening with Jay that made me question it. Prior to that I was suspecting Kota Ibushi winning it, as to set up Omega vs Ibushi. Though, while I know Kota is at least on a minor contract now I'm not certain if the contract is inclusive enough to cause Gedo to actually give Kota a run.
I suppose the Okada redemption storyline is also a possibility, but I feel like Tanahashi's losing streak might just simply be that he's winding down into dadhood. But y'never know.

I think everyone predicting Kota vs Omega at WK is fuckin insane.

It's hard to guess Gedo's plans.
Last year G1 i geniunely thought he was going for a major push for EVIL after the man , at everyone's surprise, defeated the (at the time) unbeatable Okada. But things didn't go that way it was Gedo throwing more smoke and mirrors :D and despite having a good tournament that grew his status (leading him to get an Okada title match later in the same year) EVIL still didn't reached the final match.
Still rooting for "seriously serious" Toru Yano this year, will the really honorable not-a-spinless-coward true ace of Japan show the world he's the obvious next champion ? :D

No Taichi in the G1 really bugs me. He's been a standout with his move up to heavyweight and the fans getting behind him. At the very least, Taichi would be a much better use of a G1 slot than Makabe or YOSHI-HASHI.

I think everyone predicting Kota vs Omega at WK is fuckin insane. I both agree, and disagree. I agree because as far as we know Gedo doesn't view Kota as reliable in the sense that he's not a NJPW guy. He's a freelancer, and Gedo usually doesn't like to throw his apples into the basket of people who could up and leave at a moments notice. I disagree because supposedly Kota actually is on contract right now, Kota's been using the term "traquillo" in interviews recently, and it just seems logical that they reformed Golden Lovers out of the blue so they could break up and have a feud eventually. That being said, I'm not sure if it'd be at Wrestle Kingdom.

Don't get it why most of the people don't like YH, he's the "perfect" midcarder. He works like a freaking ant in the ring, look at the match against EVIL. EVIL took two bumps in the match, YH took over ten. He did the whole job, that's what a good midcarder has to do. The only one who never delivered in his G1's is Tama Tonga. I know i won't make any friends with that statement on an north american forum, but his G1's were awful and this years didn't start great as well. It's his last chance IMO as a singles competitor and if he fails he should get the "Yujiro treatment".

Yoshi-Hashi is generally dismissed because while he does have two to three really good matches a year, the remainder of the year he's just kinda there. Doesn't really have that X-factor. I never minded his inclusion though, since he does have those good matches and is useful as a spoiler.

Okay Jay with his third win in the G1, he won't make it to the finals. It's too obvious, he will get spoiled by EVIL on the last day. Sorry but the main event on the last day is Tanahashi vs. Okada, super obvious

Gotta say that Sanada vs ZSJ match was the first ZSJ match I've seen that didn't bore me. If only based on the fact the other guy was working the same style and counter wrestling so that stuff actually looked like it was happening for a reason.

That match wasn't too bad, but it wasn't quite to the degree Sanada/ZSJ was. Still, I guess I have to say Yano/ZSJ didn't bore me either. I just didn't get actively excited for it.
