The only thing I really care about losing is the rest hold settings in the mods. Having a match end with a chinlock after and epic encounter is pretty lame. Spike should be able to implement a setting where submissions only work as a finisher or special, if they really wanted to. If I could get only one thing back, it would be the No Rest Hold Submissions mod. I don't even feel like simming matches anymore without that.
If I have to retire from using Free Cam mode, so be it. Fun while it lasted. But seeing, say, Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior vs. Road Warriors go 35 minutes and end in a submission to a brief chin lock is a real let-down.
As great as some of the updates are, losing the mods that really made this iteration of Fire Pro special is a major disappointment. Just sim your guys not to use non-finishing subs in large damage. Solves that problem real easy. Out of all the things that are lost with the mod suite not being brought along with the update, that has to be the least of them. With good logic, only time you see bad subs are in battle royales or with a submission reversal from another move. Now, the loss of free cam, judging, weapons mods, blood mod, yeah, those are not easily made up for in the game. But again, good logic can make up for the lack of the rest holds mod.

I tried using a trick outlined on reddit to download a pre-2.0 version of the game. Somehow I managed to figure it out, only to get this box when I opened the game:
You may be using an outdated version of the application. Please connect to the Internet to download an update and restart after it finishes.
So much for that idea.

I have more than a thousand CAW downloads. Not sure how I could set that up absent editing them all, which is not a tenable option for me.

When that pops up, it means you've got an updated 2.0 save that won't work on an older version. So you'll either have to delete your save and start over, or - if you used the Mod Suite with save backups turned on - use a backup of your last pre-update save. (also, when you roll back, use the Mod Suite Save Data mod, or it'll keep reading out of your Steam saves folder)

Thanks for the advice on that, though at this point I'm inclined to throw in the towel. More trouble than it's worth, particularly with future considerations (e.g. CAW downloads, eventually wanting to get Management of the Ring DLC, etc.) in mind.

I guess it's time to do some save file sharing if we can. Hopefully Carl or someone else can come up with a solution to get edits sent backward to the versions of the game that supported mods, since this game's going full EA otherwise.

There is a way to export your edits from it and import them to a 1.0 save file but I have yet to find out how (gonna check discord in a moment)

It's possible, but you won't be able to transfer DLC/updated assets to previous versions of the game. Basically, if you own the DLC and current game, you're able to rip out everything and apply it to your 1.02 copy (you'll need to do this yourself); you're only losing access to the new UI and Fighting Road. You can still pull edits from the workshop and use them in your game.

Either by getting your old save or even easier, using the Mike's patcher to patch the mods in. It will eliminate this issue immediately. Let me know if you need help.

Clarify this for me a little, if you would. How does this work?
Is it basically taking the moves/parts (from the DLC you already own, to clarify we are not talking stealing it here) and essentially making them into custom moves/parts and working like those mods did in the past? Does it just mod the game to read the new resources like they were there all along?
Does it bring the (DLC) wrestlers over, too? They need some work, but I'd still prefer to use them as bases. Or would I need to make edits of them before (hypothetically) doing this?
What about the actual voice samples? I know a guy won't be able to use five of them, but would the voice clips themselves remain?
The way Carl talked when he was last here, it was gonna be DLC OR mods; they would never work together, and in his opinion, the DLC was trash, so that didn't matter. But if it's actually possible to have mods AND the DLC content (minus the UI, essentially) then I'm intrigued. This would be pretty close to a "best of both worlds" solution.

Y'know with the lost of being able to use modes, I will surely miss the ability to hot swap arenas based on rings, the additional match types like Royale Rumble, Iron Man and WarGames (the last one I haven't even tried yet), and the crowd reactions based on who is in the face or heel alignment in groups.
Hell now that (at the time of writing this) there is no updated mods, I can't be able to access some (thankfully its only six) wrestlers who I made the mistake of keeping their custom parts on them (seriously, I hardly gave all my 120+ wrestlers those fan made parts; in retrospect I shouldn't have bother with that mod like I did with the custom moves). Would like to roll back to the previous version and fix those small errors, but hey its only six guys I could just recreate them.

To be fair, now that things have settled down it may be possible to salvage some of the (Match Type) mods for 2.0. It's just that the 2.0 version will rarely be updated as 1.02 will still be the main focus, and some components won't return without a major overhaul.

Yes, it's possible to rip all the dlc assets (including voices) from your official game and import them into the previous version using mods. Carl has also provided an export tool that allows you to download from the workshop and transfer the edit to your game. So, with a bit of work, you're only missing out on the new UI and fighting road. And as far as stealing the assets is concerned, we're free to talk about the process for ripping and importing the assets, but sharing the actual files is a bannable offence. It's essentially an updated, mod compatible version of the game. And without the annoying (but understandable) code changes.
