As always, any input towards these screens (or any of the past 525 screens already posted here) is certainly welcomed from any forum member. Trivia: depending on where you look online, Akira Maeda's Fire Pro rename has been translated as Akira Saeha
and Saeba. In the Fire Pro guides, he's listed as Akira Saeba.
I guess that won't matter when Saeha is given his real name in the English patch.

fwiw, here's my attempt at translating. I haven't tried inserting it into the screenshots, however, because somehow I can have the motivation to begin translating/making my own alterations to your translation but not the motivation to open up Photoshop or my art program, lmao. A lot of the time, it's gonna match yours, but there are a few cases where I tried to fix the issue with machine translations - they struggle with idioms and odd speech patterns. CHAPTER 1: ITTETSU WAKAMOTOA young man had a dream... a vision. One he had seen ever since he was a young boy.
He walked through a mysterious tunnel. That's all he does, every time - he just... walks.
Normally, there was no light at the end of this tunnel. But today, it was different.
He saw something... just barely, at the end of the path. Struggling to see it, his eyes squinted.
And what he saw in the distance was... Himself?

A gleam shone in his eyes. Here he was, at the crossroads of his life - the turning point that would decide his future.
Perhaps there would - or should - have been a mixture of excitement and nervousness in Sumisu's heart.
However, at this time, all he could feel was boundless hope. Those shining eyes turn towards a single point in the distance.
And with intense self-confidence, he looked forward...
... To a sign just above his head, with "Dojo Wakamoto" written across it.
As his eyes scanned across those letters, he could sense the profound tradition held within this dojo.
Even this sign alone has been a witness to decades of history, as well.
This building serves as a monument of proof of the old heritage of Japan - a relic of a traditional culture that faded away as the nation's economy boomed.
Filled with determination, Sumisu steps through the front gate...
ITTETSU: "Boy! What are you doing here?! This is no place for mere hatchlings like you! Get a move on and go back home!"
SUMISU: "I'm not just gonna turn around and leave without seeing anything! Is that how you guys treat your visitors?! How nice it must be live a life of antiquity."
ITTETSU: "Of course that's how I treat newcomers. You see, all I need is a quick glance to tell whether a prospect's got what it takes or not."
SUMISU: "What?! Quit screwing around with me, you bald geezer!"
ITTETSU: "Heh, so I'm a bald geezer to you? The way I see it, you're just a whelp who's gettin' too big for his britches. Well then... Let me give you some advice. Listen well."
(TL: I'm fairly certain that kanji is 聞, not 闘.)
ITTETSU: "I see. So, you came here 'cause you've got aspirations of becomin' a wrestler."
SUMISU: "..."
ITTETSU: "There's more to wrestling than having a well-conditioned body - you need the mental conditioning to match. If you aspire to be one of those muscle-bound freaks that are the rage today, you're gonna burn out in no time.
You gotta live by this foundation - You can't just act smart; you have to keep yourself from BECOMING a fool.
Inside that 6m50cm ring, you'll be telling a tale of your life - in a sport that isn't quite a sport. In a martial arts contest that isn't quite martial arts.

SUMISU: "Pro... wrestling..."

Sumisu's heart had grown powerful - hardened by his resolve. As his swelling emotions reached a boiling point, they could no longer be suppressed, and erupted from him in a primal yell.
SUMISU: "Uwoooooooooooooohhh!!"
- 1 YEAR LATER -
After a year of harsh training at the Wakamoto Dojo, Sumisu grew one or two times more powerful, both physically and mentally. Seemingly, he had gained the aura of a pro wrestler.
Naturally, Sumisu's growth was a welcome change for Wakamoto.
As Wakamoto watched over his pupil's growth, his always stern expression hid immense joy.
ITTETSU: "Sumisu! You've done well over this past year. Of the class of trainees I brought in, only four of you remain, including yourself.
Today, we're doing a test match. Consider it the last step before graduation.
You get to decide your opponent for this spar, Sumisu! Choose wisely."
(TL: this is one of the cases where machine translation falters with context in Japanese - I'm pretty sure he was telling Sumisu, not himself, that he had done a good job in training.)
From here, you get to select between the other three trainees: The Spike (Sting), The Underground (The Undertaker), and Dick Road (Rick Rude).
ITTETSU: "Sumisu! Quick, make up your mind!"
(Select an opponent with the left and right buttons. Press the B button to confirm.)
Upon moving the cursor to The Spike, this text appears:
SPIKE: "Hey, Sumisu! You gotta pick me! C'mon, let's go at it, mano a mano!"
Upon moving the cursor to The Underground, this text appears:
UNDERGROUND: "........."
Upon moving the cursor to Dick Road, this text appears:
ROAD: "Hey, whatcha scared of, Sumisu? What's wrong, you wanna run home and hide under your momma's skirt? Heh heh heh... Let's fight!"
When you choose to fight The Spike:

When you choose to fight The Underground:

When you choose to fight Dick Road:

It is absolutely possible to lose the first fight in Champion's Road. Doing so leads to a game over screen:

However, should you beat your training partner/rival character, they'll have some choice words for you:
After defeating The Spike:
SPIKE: "You got me, Sumisu. I might not be able to get a win on you now, Sumisu, BUT! I'll be waiting for you to come to America.
Good luck! I'll see you again when we've both made it to the big leagues."
SUMISU: "Yeah! Take care of yourself, Spike!"
After defeating The Underground:
UNDERGROUND: "........."
Sumisu sensed a wave of emotion wash over The Underground.
SUMISU: "Under... We'll meet again somewhere, someday."
After defeating Dick Road:
ROAD: "You're gonna regret beating me someday. Next time we meet, you're gonna lose for sure.
... And that's why you better not lose to anyone else but me, Sumisu."
SUMISU: "Road... Same to you."
(TL: here's where i try to interpret what a single 'omae' might mean. rather than condescension, i'm interpreting it as him going, "oh, you," as if he senses the kind intent hidden underneath Road's arrogance. so basically i'm saying that in Fire Pro, Rick Rude is a tsundere.)
Whatever the case may be, Sumisu defeats his partner in a sparring match. Afterwards, Ittetsu has some words of his own for his pupil:
WAKAMOTO: "Sumisu... You've already become a fine pro wrestler. There's nothing left for me to teach you.
But, before I let you leave this nest, I have one last thing for you. Are you ready?"
(TL: Ittetsu's name is written with his last name instead once he and Sumisu are equals. i'm guessing it's the way you can tell that their relationship has changed in the script.)
SUMISU: "Ittetsu-san..."
WAKAMOTO: "Fool!! This isn't the time to be getting sentimental. In this world where the strong prey on the weak, the battles you will face shall be always cruel.
From here on, the hurdles you will have to jump over may as well be mountains before you. Remember - you haven't got the time to stumble over them!"
SUMISU: "Then, I... have to overcome you, master...?
Spike, Under, Road... Give me your strength. I'll fight for all of you.
Alright, Ittetsu-san - Let's go!!"
WAKAMOTO: "Overcome your master, Sumisu! Let's do this.... Come at me, boy!!"
this leads to a match with Ittetsu Wakamoto. upon defeating him, he actually DOES have a parting gift for Sumisu:
WAKAMOTO: "You've grown stronger, Sumisu. And so, I shall allow you to use my 'Wakamoto Special '78' as you wish...
Y, you are the last disciple of Ittetsu Wakamoto... Take pride in that... And, f... fly forth into the battlefield...!"
SUMISU: "Ittetsu-san... A, are you okay?"
WAKAMOTO: "Oh, I'm hurting - quite a bit. But you need not worry about me... Heh, I haven't felt this pain since Saeba graduated from here.
Hmm... Perhaps I've finally given back everything I could to the world of the canvassed ring. Maybe it's time for me to live my life as I please.
Sumisu. The future of this warring era of pro wrestling rests on your shoulders.

After defeating Ittetsu Wakamoto, you reach the game's main route split:
Since Sumisu does not belong to any one organization, he has the same privileges as a foreign talent.
In other words, he is a free agent who may choose which organization he wants to fight for as he pleases.
The current world of wrestling has been split into three major divisions.
The first is VIEW JAPAN PROWRESTLING, run by Victory Musashi.
Then there is OLIVE JAPAN PROWRESTLING, led by Great Shiba.
And last, there is UWH, led by Akira Saeba.
Sumisu, which style are you seeking out?
(Select an organization with the left and right buttons. Press the B button to confirm.) First, since this is the initial one shadowmaster did, is the AJPW/Olive Japan Prowrestling path. CHAPTER 2: THE ROYAL ROADHe chose to join OLIVE JAPAN PROWRESTLING...
A company where the ring is treated as a sacred ground.
The company's protection of the legacy of Rikiozan - continuing to defend the traditional style of pro wrestling - reflects the humanity of its leader, Great Shiba.

Afterwards, you beat Kobuchizawa...
KOBUCHIZAWA: "You're pretty good! Keep it up, kid!
...But, next time we meet, you need to introduce me to a nice young girl. Yeah?"
Next up is Akikawa:
OLIVE's young prospect and future ace, Shun Akikawa.
With a fighting sense honed in amateur wrestling, one would not think of him as a mere rookie.
On the contrary... when it comes to his grappling and matwork, his craftsmanship is like a ring veteran's.

CHAPTER 3 - WESTERN LARIAT:Your opponents this time are a gauntlet of foreign talent in OLIVE: Kerry Bogey (Terry Gordy), Million Dollar Davis (Ted DiBiase), Still James (Steve Williams), and finally Star Bison (Stan Hansen).
Right out the gate, it's time to go up against Bogey:
BOGEY: "Ah've been a wrassler ever since ah turned fifteen. Y'all are just like a li'l chicken boy ta me. Ya still wet your bed too, boy?
Y'all don't stand a change 'gainst me. WOW! WOW! WOW!"
(TL: i am perhaps playing up his southernness a bit more than is fully necessary, but he speaks in broken Japanese, sooo...)
SUMISU: "Bringing up your career experience? How old fashioned of you. It doesn't matter to me, though. Nor does it matter that you're a top foreigner.
Young Veteran, Kerry Bogey... I will NOT call you a star!"
Losing in this chapter gets this word of encouragement from Ittetsu on the game over screen:
ITTETSU: "Get it together, Sumisu!"
But we're not here to lose now, are we? Here's what Bogey has to say in defeat:
BOGEY: "In a real fight, a split second kin mean life or death. Looks like, for me, that split second fight's goin' in the L column. Y'all are a very, very lucky boy, ya hear me?"
Afterwards comes Million Dollar Davis:
DAVIS: "Hey, boy. How about signing up with me? I'll make you into a real superstar...
What's that? You refuse?? Well, well... You're a peculiar kid, aren't you? How's a hundred thousand dollars sound to you...?
Hmmmmm... You've got a greedy side, don't you! Yeah, I can see that shrewd glint in your eyes, kid. Well then... How's a million bucks sound to you? Surely you can't complain about that! ...
What!? A hundred million dollars?! Are you serious!? That's enough fooling around with you! I'm gonna pop that inflated ego of yours!"
SUMISU: "So now you're taking me seriously, huh? Well then... Show me what an expert of the ins and outs of American sports entertainment can do.
Because here in Japan, we don't need to rely on gimmicks!"
(TL: he does say American pro wrestling, but maybe i want a bit more condescension there...)
Davis goes down like the rest:
DAVIS: "Seems like Japan's not the right place for me. Still, don't get the wrong idea, kid. Whether you're working a gimmick or not, we have to work like professionals.
As long as you've got a strong heart, it doesn't matter whether you're working face or heel. What matters more than anything else is that you prove yourself to the audience..."
(TL: he says 'no matter the character,' but i decided to be a bit more explicit in wrestling terminology.)
Still James is up next:
JAMES: "The watchmen at the gates of Hell have been waiting for you. And just now, they told me, 'Still, send Sumisu on his way to us.'"
Beating him gets this dialogue:
JAMES: You're a careful fighter, aren't you? Well, no two ways about it - ya got me this time. Served as a reminder that I can still be so naive, like a real Good Guy."
Last up is Star Bison, the top of the foreigners here:
BISON: "I've been the top gaijin round here, in this hard n' serious Japanese ring. Ya broke your way into this business as a kid too, huh? Same here - I made my way up when I was still young.
Back then, it was me and the late, great Bull...
Yer name's Sumisu, right? If y'all are itchin' for a real fight with me, that's a mistake - a real big one. And it's 'cuz Bull's soul is still livin' inside me...
...Right here, in my left arm.
Bull was a great man. And he left us all before we could make good on our promise. To fight for them Three Belts in the Budou Palace...
Back then, it was the #1 match the Japanese fans wanted ta see. It woulda been a chance to put it all out there in our home away from home, in front of all the fans we loved and cherished... I know up there in Heaven, he's wishin' we had a chance to make good on that.
Bull taught me so much. And I've made sure to pass his professionalism down to all the young boys here in OLIVE.
He taught me why ya need a finisher - he's the reason why I got my Lariat. He taught me about the importance of mic work - of how to deal with the press...
And so, so much more.
He was my friend, and my rival, and my teacher. And now that I'm gettin' too old to stay in the spotlight... It's time for me to pass on Bull's spirit to someone new.

(TL: not just ANY Texan, it's either just Dory or Terry Funk, or both of 'em. i went with the compromise option.) With the top gaijin out of the way, all that remains on the OLIVE route are the top four stars of the company... CHAPTER 4: THE FOUR DEVASYou're going through the devas - or Heavenly Kings - in order of their prominence: Akira Sagami (Akira Taue), Keiji Togashi (Kenta Kobashi), Toshiie Kazama (Toshiaki Kawada), and Mitsuhide Hikawa (Mitsuharu Misawa). Notably, this is the only route on the route split that does not have you face off with the company's founder - because Baba was always something of a legal minefield for Human.
At any rate, we start with Sagami...
SAGAMI: "Hmmm.... Another boring match, huh. Same old, same old. Oh... I know! I'll try out some lucha libre today. Y'know, when I was younger, I used to perform as a masked wrestler in Mexico.
They called me Mascara de Sagami - I was a hero to the little brats over there, y'know. Really! I'm telling you the truth, dammit!"
SUMISU: "What a dumbass... But, I can't take a guy with that kind of physique lightly. Gotta keep from getting crushed by his brute strength...!"

fwiw, here's my attempt at translating. I haven't tried inserting it into the screenshots, however, because somehow I can have the motivation to begin translating/making my own alterations to your translation but not the motivation to open up Photoshop or my art program, lmao. A lot of the time, it's gonna match yours, but there are a few cases where I tried to fix the issue with machine translations - they struggle with idioms and odd speech patterns. CHAPTER 1: ITTETSU WAKAMOTOA young man had a dream... a vision. One he had seen ever since he was a young boy.
He walked through a mysterious tunnel. That's all he does, every time - he just... walks.
Normally, there was no light at the end of this tunnel. But today, it was different.

(TL: here's where i try to interpret what a single 'omae' might mean. rather than condescension, i'm interpreting it as him going, "oh, you," as if he senses the kind intent hidden underneath Road's arrogance. so basically i'm saying that in Fire Pro, Rick Rude is a tsundere.)
Whatever the case may be, Sumisu defeats his partner in a sparring match. Afterwards, Ittetsu has some words of his own for his pupil:

So, Special's translation was on my to-do list. It's a word oddly written in Katakana (the alphabet used for foreign words ...even though the word itself is Japanese)...and, on top of that, it's a word that is, as to my knowledge, known for being used as slang in the Pro Wrestling world.
You know you're in trouble when even Japanese speakers ask questions online about the definition of this odd word...
From what I could gather in one answer, Tonpachi can be seen as "outrageous, unconventional, and out of the norm".

So it appears that depending on the promotion you chose, the first sentences of Saeba's dialogue in chapter 7 are different. I don't know if there is more than two possible dialogues but in my actual playthrough I chose View Japan and here's what I got.  冴刃 「君が噂の[Players'name]か、冴刃明だ、よろしくな。 一徹さんから話は聞いていた。。。 残念なことになってしまったが。。。 Saeba " Are you that [Players'name] I heard about ? My name is Saeba Akira, nice to meet you. Ittetsu told me about you...it's really unfortunate what happpened to him... "  だが[Players'name]！ 天国にいるおやっさんを俺たちで喜ばしてやろうや。 But [Players'name] ! let's make the old man in heaven happy.  素晴らしい闘いこそがあの人への最高のはなむけになるだろう。 そして、 若元一徹というプロレスラーの遺伝子を受け継がねばならん。 The upcoming wonderful fights will be the best farewell gift we can give him. We must carry on the legacy/genes/DNA of the professional wrestler that Wakamoto Ittetsu was. With Screen #632, Chapter 7 of Champion Road continues:  Ryu means Dragon in Japanese. Out of respect for Tenryu's Fire Pro rename, I'm sticking with calling him Thunder Ryu instead of Thunder Dragon.  The translation also comes up as "what's the matter with you, you son of a bitch". But, I know konoyaro means Bastard. Konoyaro is also found as a voice clip track in Fire Pro Wrestling World. それがどうした,コノヤローだね.」
 Our next opponent is based on hardcore wrestling pioneer Atsushi Onita. On top of being the founder of the Japanese promotion FMW, Onita is also credited for inventing explosive, barbed wire deathmatches; an attraction that still continues to this day in the Wrestling world. One of Onita's phrases has been "Evil Ways". You can even find the phrase as a copyrighted company name ("(C) EVIL WAYS" on various pieces of merchandise bearing Onita's image. 冴羽「もはや奴を邪道という言葉で片付けられるか, いやっ、それ以上に大きな存在になっている.  今さら道も正道もないだろうし、その魂に境界線はない.

Update, so, I reached Chapter 7 in the OLIVE JAPAN branch and the few screens of text that Akira Saeba gives are the exact same as the screens ippanjin51 already provided for the VIEW JAPAN
portion of Champion Road.
It's only the UWH portion that provides a slight variation in text with Saeba (which I already posted), to my understanding.
Just to be sure, I'll reach Chapter 7 with each of the UWH rival choices (Takada, Funaki, Fujiwara and Maeda) to see if there's any other screens I'm missing for the start of Chapter 7.
Update: reached Chapter 7 (UWH) branch with Nobuhisa Sanada (Nobuhiko Takada) and Jo Kajiwara (Yoshiaki Fujiwara) - Saeba uses the same text for both rivals. Will reach Chapter 7
with the other two UWH rivals and see if the text changes for the UWH branch.

Update: I reached Chapter 7 with all UWH rivals. All 4 choices in the UWH branch have the same text. So, there's only two variations of text Akira Saeba shares in Chapter 7. Option 1) pick VIEW or OLIVE and reach Chapter 7 - for the text ippanjin51 provided. Option 2) Pick UWH and reach Chapter 7 - for the text I provided above. As always, feel free to interject if I missed something. All of your contributions and hard work is greatly appreciated.
Still haven't found a rom hacker yet, but I have experience adjusting in-game values using the ZSNES
emulator. I assume adjusting text is a similar method (play the game - pause game - run a search of a specific value that appears on screen - update value that appears on screen).
No idea on how to overwrite a rom with any alterations yet. I'll look into it once the translations are finished.

So, Gotch being the competitive man that he was, did 9,000 Hindu Squats himself. Continuing on from what I posted previously, here's the View Japan/NJPW path. CHAPTER 2 - IDEOLOGYVIEW JAPAN PROWRESTLING...
Carrying the legacy of Victory Musashi's "Strong Style," it is the driving force of pro wrestling in Japan...
And, within the hearts of its fans, the curse of 'Musashi-ism' resides, always occupying a corner of its own.
The wrestlers belonging to VIEW struggled to break through a glass ceiling. To make their way past that invisible barrier, they had to devote an immense amount of energy... They had no choice but to toughen themselves.
Now that Sumisu has joined this organization, he too must steel himself for a tough battle.
Toshi Goto stood guard, blocking Sumisu's path inward.
(TL: while the script literally uses policeman in katakana, it feels like an awkward word choice.)
It was he who once sent Hiroshi Date on a ferry down the River Styx using his terrifying Backdrop Suplex.
(TL: localization choice - while it uses buddhist terminology, i went with the more westernized equivalent)
GOTO: "Ah, so you're Sumisu. You seem to have a fascination with Hell. Well then, I'll drop you down there at any angle you desire."
SUMISU: "Goto-san! Sorry, but you're just a stepping stone on my path."
The game over screen message for this is the same as it is for chapter 2 of the OLIVE path.
Beating Goto elicits some pithy advice:
GOTO: "That's some backbone you have! Well then... I must admit defeat. But you'd do well to remember this, Sumisu...
Your techniques aren't a tool to kill others. Though injuries are a consequence of accidents in the ring, they are still a sin weighing down upon your conscience. Take it from me - don't misuse your talents."
Choshin Super Kaiser... He's said to be the very model of a pro wrestler. He never misses a day of training. He is a man of his words, and a man who treats allies and enemies equally. A man deserving of trust from his fellow wrestlers.
Thanks to his unrivalled strength in his weight division, everyone calls him the 'Super Junior.' He is, above all else, a straightforward man.
KAISER: "So you're Sumisu-kun! Come on, let's go at it. If you can't put up a good fight, I'll crush you, so be careful."
SUMISU: "That's my line, Kaiser-san."
(Kaiser is defeated)
KAISER: "You're pretty strong! Alright, I give up. The rest of those guys can't afford to slip up around you."
Your wrestling style is brilliant... It's a work of art in and of itself. Don't forget that pro wrestling is an artform.
I want you to become a top wrestler as soon as possible. Become the superstar of tomorrow in the world of wrestling! I know you can do it, Sumisu!
As for me... I shall become the wind of Liverpool, as well."
(TL: "the wind of Liverpool" was what New Japan's front offices said of Keiichi Yamada when he was about to switch to the Jushin Liger gimmick. in order to write him out of their booking, they said he was going to England to train, and that he would become, well, the wind of Liverpool.)
Samurai Jiro, the ringleader of the Heisei Toubakugun. His epic battles with Nobuhisa Sanada live on in all our hearts.
Now, Jiro stands out as a memory of the aggressive and chaotic times of old - a rugged individualist amongst the turmoil of VIEW JAPAN.
JIRO: "I - Samurai Jiro, leader of the Heisei Toubaku-gun - have arrived!!
Sumisu! I shall strike you down, to dispel the regrets within Toshi Goto's soul! En garde!!"
SUMISU: "So it's a duel... I'll draw any time you're ready."
(Jiro is defeated)
JIRO: "You've caught my eye, Sumisu. If you need anything, come to me at once. You shall always have a seat amongst the ranks of my army!" CHAPTER 3 - DISCORDDATE: "I can't watch this any longer - all you do is have lousy matches. Are you ashamed of yourself? Do you realize what a disservice you have done to our fans?
At this rate, you don't deserve to call yourself a pro. Try again!!"
SUMISU: "Hey, pal, what's your problem? What is this nonsense? What the hell are you getting at!?"
DATE: "Your matches lack structure. Your techniques are sloppy. Put simply, you don't have what it takes to be a wrestler. You lack the overall balance necessary to compete.
A wrestler is only as good as his physical and technical backing, and you don't meet those standards."
SUMISU: "You can't just treat wrestling as a scientific theory. Nobody wants to watch a wrestler like that!"
DATE: "That's just the empty words of a person who wants to run away from the 'system' - the whining of a loser. The system justifies evaluating one's worth on this level. If you can't comprehend my words, then you aren't fit to call yourself a wrestler."
SUMISU: "...It's people like you that are the reason wrestling is going down the drain."
DATE: "Don't you DARE talk back to me! What would a rookie with no tenure like you know about this business!?"
SUMISU: "Is this how things are in VIEW JAPAN!? If you're a wrestler, then prove me wrong, one-on-one, in that ring. That's how us pros settle these arguments, isn't it!?
Not even Ittetsu-san would let an ass like you get away with what you've said!"
DATE: "Ittetsu... Wakamoto, huh. Hah, so you think you can call yourself a wrestler because you were taught by that doddering old fool? He's too soft on his pupils.
I can deal with you with one arm behind my back. Don't take us major leaguers lightly. I'll show you that you're nothing but a second-rate athlete."
SUMISU: "Don't get too cocky, pal. I'm gonna crack that overgrown head of yours like an egg!"
Date is defeated, as expected.
DATE: "No! I will NOT accept this!! If that's the only way you know how to win, then you need to get the hell out of VIEW JAPAN!"
KOUNO: "Listen up, you little shit! You've got some real balls trying to pick a fight with everyone in VIEW! So you'd better not run away from what you started with your ass hanging out, punk!
Let's fuckin' go!!"
(TL: Chono/Kouno talks like a yakuza, so i guess this is the best/only way for me to get that across.)
SUMISU: "Gotta be careful around these logical technicians. They're not my type..."
Kouno is defeated
KOUNO: "I only get better every season, and guess what? Summer's almost here. How about you try and beat me THEN, huh?
There's a reason why they call me 'Masahiro Kouno, the Man of Summer!'"
HATAMOTO: "I won't lose - not until I've conquered this wrestling world. I have no idea who you are, Sumisu - or whatever your name is - but I'll crush you in a minute or less."
I'll swat down whatever little bug gets in my way! In the name of 'The Demon of Destruction,' I'll crush you!"
SUMISU: "How am I supposed to get through to a guy this blunt? If I don't clear this hurdle, I'm not gonna get a second chance!"
Hatamoto is defeated
HATAMOTO: "Sumisu! The price you must pay is great. It's up to you to uphold or kill the vestiges of the Showa Era. From here on, I, Shinya Hatamoto, shall rise up for sure!
My time is NOW!" CHAPTER 4: SHOWA PRO-WRESTLINGJo Kajiwara, "The Demon of Joint Locks."
At one time, he was known as the wrestling world's "Strongest Shooter," the one guy you would want as your right-hand man when it came to a real fight. He beat countless people to a pulp when they came to the dojo looking for a fight...
Even today, his artful joint techniques are alive and well.
KAJIWARA: "The name's Kajiwara. I ain't got time for small talk - let's do this!
Your life's mine for the taking, Sumisu!"
SUMISU: "He's as much of a thug as I'd heard he was. Gotta watch out for Kajiwara-san's Critical Submissions...
...Cause I'm NOT gonna lose to some drunkard!"
KAJIWARA: "Welp, I give up. Kanpai! Huh? No, I don't mean 'kanpai' as in 'cheers,' I mean 'kan' 'pai' - a perfect loss. You totally beat me. But, y'know Sumisu, a pro-wrestler is who he is, regardless of style.
A real pro will fight in any ring - they have to. Consider yourself lucky that you get to fight at all."
Fighter Yamato's life carries an air of sadness. He has a natural talent for understanding pro wrestling, but his honesty has sealed away any desire for self-centered ambitions.
One has to wonder how many wrestlers were influenced by his indominitable spirit, even in the face of insurmountable odds.
Only those who have fought Dragon Yamato know just how frightening that spirit is...
YAMATO: "I'm not dead yet. As long as I have my Dragon Soul, you won't be breaking through that ceiling. The Dragon Revolution hasn't come to its end yet!"
SUMISU: "Do I have to fight Yamato-san...? If I show a moment of weakness, I'm done for."
Ugh!! ... Wh, what the hell is this killer aura? Is this the terror that comes from fighting someone who carried a whole generation on his back...? Can I even compete with someone like this guy...?"
Yamato is defeated
YAMATO: "Sumisu-kun... Shall you be where my Dragon Revolution comes to its end? ...No. Not yet. I still have much to do.
And I'll keep working until the very last drop of my Soul has been extinguished."
RIKIMARU: "Hey, fuckhead! You ain't got what it takes to beat me. The burden I've carried on my back is on a whole other level than anything you've dealt with.
There's a BIG difference between you, and people who fought in wrestling's Golden Age, like me.
Nobody knows just how strong Fighter Yamato is better than me. So that's why I'm not gonna lose to you."
SUMISU: "I can feel the sheer gravitasse of the last generation... What kind of world is waiting for us after the Showa Era? Will fighting him even show me the answer?
Whatever it may be, I have to take that answer from both Yamato and Rikimaru!"
Rikimaru is defeated
RIKIMARU: "Beating me isn't enough to break down the generational glass ceiling, Sumisu. But you'll find your answer soon enough - because only then will you know the pain that comes from fighting an invisible foe.
The next match will be a test of your endurance. Fight, and keep fighting, until you find yourself. When you know who you truly are, you will no longer need us. The passing of the torch has been a long time coming..."
Victory Musashi, a wrestler who also serves in the national parliament... The path of his struggle to prove wrestling's worth is also a path of legends.
He fought the Unified World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Mohammad Alibaba...
...The Bear-Killer Wilson Willy...
... Even the Red Devil of Judo, Wilhelm Luska.
In fighting the world's strongest fighters, he proved his theory: the "Pro Wrestling is the Strongest Art Theory."
That je ne sais quois he represented came to be known as "charisma." And it was that charisma that attracted Musashi-ists all over Japan. For those living in the Heisei era, this remnant of the Showa era was a dangerous test of one's loyalty.
MUSASHI: "So, I've heard that you are a top prospect talent. As one of the old guard of wrestling, what should I do in this new world of wrestling - one where nobody understands the meaning of 'scale?' Furthermore, what is the true nature of our fight, anyway?
It's not my place to tell you what that true essence is. But, it may be that our role as pro wrestlers is to show people the potential hidden within all human beings, the manifestation of their fight or flight instincts.
So. What do you think it is, ladies and gentlemen? ... There's no playing games with me, fool! If you think you can take me, then come at me!"
SUMISU: "I can see the remnants of the Showa Era at the end of Musashi's legend... A faint image in black and white, of the ruins left behind.
I have to bring about the passing of the torch, just like Rikimaru-san said. Otherwise, the curtain will never rise upon the next era of pro wrestling!
It's time to give the Showa Era its last rites!"

MUSASHI: "Pro wrestling is, to me, like seeking enlightenment, just as Buddha once did. However, even now, I have yet to find an answer to what pro wrestling truly is. That question has rung through my very soul all throughout my life.
It is up to you to blaze a trail into the future. Shape that future with your own ideals. But whatever you do, do not let your abilities as a wrestler fall into atrophy. That, too, is your role!" |

Chapter 7 of Champion Road continues: I don't know who Toi is supposed to be (Akira Taue is listed as Sagami - not Toi). But, the others are: Saeba (Akira Maeda), Kajiwara (Yoshiaki Fujiwara), Mito (Osamu Kido), Higaki (Masakatsu Funaki) and Mizuki (Minoru Suzuki) クラウザー「サエバもカジワラもミトも 私の息子のようなもんだ. その彼らの弟子であるおまえやヒガキやミヅキやトーイは皆, わしの孫のようなものだ. My guess is Toi is Yuki (rl name Toyohiko) Ishikawa. He was usually just called "TOY" by foreign wrestlers while using his real name, since Toyohiko is apparently difficult to pronounce. Though he was still a rookie in 1994, he was one of Fujiwara's star pupils along with Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Suzuki, as well as being another trainee of Karl Gotch like Kido, Maeda, and Fujiwara himself. |
