i just assume it's part of a separate universe/canon since there's almost no correlation/crossover between the SWA of old and the SWA of new
the old SWA was an MMA organization that, as of returns, either was an overarching body or bought out most of the old MMA organizations (SWA had BLADE (Pride) and S-1 (K-1) as separate groups, and due to most other shoot organizations like GONGS (RINGS), UNO (UFO) and Battlation (Battlarts) not being in the game (even as a stable/group), you could infer it that either they shut down or were bought out by SWA), with the only big MMA promotion left being HIGH CLASS (aka Pancrase).
i assume they're an overarching body because they're not an actual promotion in final fire pro wrestling's MOTR afaik, with their guys appearing somewhere else (ken shamrock's in BLADE/PRIDE in management of the ring for example despite being a member of the SWA in exhibition mode)
SWA in Fire Pro World is almost entirely different, with a different logo (well, SWA never had a logo with their initials in the old fire pro games, it was just the "GRUESOME FIGHTERS" logo) and a different promotion style (both in fire promoter, where they're listed as a showman style, and in fighting road where they hold wrestling matches and cage matches), with none of the other promotions in old fire pro games making a reappearance in fire promoter, hence why i'd believe they'd be from a different continuity/universe.

I don't tend to use many in game wrestlers myself, but this is a cool way of using what is there already and personalising it for yourself.

The SWA was formerly known as the HWA There was also "HWF" (alternating between Human and Heroic Wrestling Federation) during the FPX and Blazing Tornado era, will there be any connection to that as well? A little thing that might or might not help anyone who deleted their SWA faction and retired the defaults, but here's a list of all the SWA edits in order with their faction listed: SWA Roster Blan Fleming - Face Max Bertrand - Face Red Dragon - Face Bobby Bobby - Face Trevor Darius - Heel Mr. Cobra - Heel Steel Johnson - Face Laurence Holland - Face Karts Rowdy - Face Blood Angel - Face Dag Boomer - Heel Edward Joseph - Heel Allen Hawkins - Face Sam Blocks - Face Fuji Akatsuki - Heel Dai Fugo - Heel Soji Kanda - Face Takaya Hinomiya - Face Leonardo Pascual - Heel Oliver Espadas - Heel Keiichiro Asakawa - Face Alex Thompson - Face Jose Santos - Face Damon Smith - Face Ernest Miller - Face Abbie Jones - Face Sophia Rodrigues - Face Caroline Collins - Face Jamie Wilson - Heel Lindsey Stewart - Face I also had the idea to group them into stables according to their choice of entrance themes. If I could remember where I put that text file with them, I'll post it so we could expand on the stable system a bit further, if you're okay with that. :) I've also got theme ideas swirling in my head for the defaults, so once I've got some chosen, I'll put 'em on my Google Drive, and you guys can see if those mesh with your ideas of how the defaults should work theme-wise. (I'm mainly gonna be using the soundalikes from KoC/Wrestle Kingdom/possibly FPDZR, though some are probably gonna be actual songs or production-library music) (as an example, I've got Steel Johnson coming out to the Stephen Pearcy/Ratt cover of "Bang Your Head" from Showdown: Legends of Wrestling) This thread is great. I have never thought about doing that, but now I feel like giving this a shot. Is there a way to extract their data, like in previous Fire Pros? Not that I will be able to do it, but somebody could. When you make a new edit, just select model wrestler and pick them - there's no complicated process like the old games. Edits from Promoter are different, but I'd be surprised if no one put them on the workshop in some form. I've got them exported via the Mod Pack, but they're invisible on the wrestler select screen -- they're visible in the Workshop Upload menu though, so I'll try to upload them to the Workshop at some point soon to see if that fixes...something, I dunno. But at least they'll be available in hopefully-downloadable form.

He became friends with Naja Mask earlier this year in Fire Promoter and I'd love to create him as his own edit for UBL.

SWA came from HWA, and that came from VWA. They are in the same universe, Slender was in HWA and VWA. Morio was in HWA and his kid will be in SWA. I think.
What would you do with the HWF? (Blazing Tornado) Different universe? Just another fed akin to VIEW JAPAN, OLIVE JAPAN, SUPER NOVA etc..
Whenever I think about this, I always make Slender murderous rampage and Morio's death the point where HWA becomes SWA because HWA shareholders wanted to distance themselves from the tragedy.
Wasn't Great Puma's belt from a different organisation?
EDIT: YES, Puma was the champion of... the VWF. I'd make it the predecessor of the HWF. AND, a rival organisation of the _WA through its lineage.
My head cannon goes something like this...
The VWA was founded and quickly, Fighter Hayabusa became a dominating champion using his brutal technique of jumping in the air next to a standing opponent and falling on his ass. Hayabusa swept the Japanese scene, leaving himself no opponent at home. This is when the VWA opened its doors to foreigners and champions from all over the world came to challenge for the VWA championship (Pro Wrestling NES). Amongst them, high flying Star Man, martial arts expert Kin Corn Karn, wild man Amazon, powerful Giant Panther and young, brash "King" Dick Slender himself. Quickly, Slender imposed himself as a strong adversary, defeating his opponents with three backbreakers and two piledrivers, every time without fail.
After he defeated everybody, even Hayabusa in a non-title match, Slender asked a title shot he felt he deserved but the VWA directors rejected his demand. The Japanese fans did not like Slender, he was too brash, too arrogant, too spammy using the same two holds all the time, they explained. The Giant Panther got the title match instead, and defeated Hayabusa in an upset victory by caving his skull in with his own before he could use his deadly jumping in the air technique. But Slender would have none of it. He beat the whole roster again, more brutally, with more backbreakers and piledrivers, and he petitioned for a title shot again. Pressured by their American partners who threatened to no longer consider the VWA championship a legitimate world championship due to ducking the evident number one contender, the VWA directors caved in, and King Slender became the VWA World Champion, defeating the Giant Panther. This would start an era of dominance unlike anything we've ever seen. Slender would become all powerful, a decision maker, even pushing his shameless bravado by forcing a new rule and a name change to the promotion. Fearing the savage Amazon, Slender banned non-humans from competition, and renamed the VWA to the HWA, for Human Wrestling Association. Slender dominated for almost a decade. He came to be the final VWA alumni active, although his old opponents' students (Including Fighter Hayabusa's priced pupil Victory Musashi) came for Slender, but failed.
(Insert Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special story here.)
Following Morio Smith's death, Slender's machiavellic nature became exposed. He was ousted as a power figure from the HWA, and, expressing shame for ignoring Slender's wrongdoings, the HWA's directors resigned. Fighter Hayabusa was named the new director of the promotion and his first decision was to distance the HWA from its macabre past by renaming it to the SWA, no relation to the later shootfighting promotion.

That's some good stuff there, Phil. I think a lot of that could be worked into my own canon, and I think it'd be worth my effort to rewrite a little bit of my stuff to do so, as your recap there does a tremendous job of tying a lot of history together.

I've loved seeing what people do with the SWA guys, I may as well as chime in with what I do as well.....
It's rather simple, as I find the SWA guys and gals quite fun to play against. I've just made copys, and added more priorities and made the majority of them English or Irish so they can join my English/Irish personal canon Fire Pro World universe thing.
A bit bland you could say.

This is good, but there's still one question I'd like to ask: Fire Pro Wrestling: 6 Man Scramble and Fire Pro G...they happen after Special, right? Why would the HWA name stil be used then?

Okay, so uploading the Promoter exports to the Workshop HAS started, but is slow going because the game constantly crashes due to the unfixed memory leaks.
HOWEVER, I DID go through the SWA Defaults and grouped both the Faces and Heels by which theme they enter to. Hopefully that's useful.
SWA Face Maximum Crisis - Blan Fleming, Max Bertrand, Red Dragon, Bobby Bobby, Steel Johnson, Karts Rowdy, Blood Angel, Allen Hawkins, Keiichiro Asakawa, Ernest Miller, John Smith Chaotic Darkness - Laurence Holland, Sam Blocks, Alex Thompson, Jose Santos, Damon Smith Queen of the Planet - Abbie Jones, Sophia Rodrigues, Caroline Collins, Lindsey Stewart Stand Up to the Sky! - Koji Sanda, Takaya Hinomiya "Sakura" Dance Around - (surprisingly, nobody) Early Summer Wind - (also surprisingly, nobody)
SWA Heel Maximum Crisis - Dag Boomer Chaotic Darkness - Trevor Darius, Mr. Cobra, Edward Joseph, Jamie Wilson Queen of the Planet - (nobody) Stand Up to the Sky! - Fuji Akatsuki, Dai Fugo "Sakura" Dance Around - (nobody) Early Summer Wind - Leonardo Pascual, Oliver Espadas
Once all the Promoter exports are up, whoever can get them visible and functioning when they download them should go through them to find their theme assignments as well. Obviously, a number of them are already in stables in the available 16 feds in Promoter, but for the Free Agents and the "Main Roster" ones, grouping them by their themes could be a big help down the line for background/lore/current and future storyline purposes.
Quick notes: - Blan could maybe be renamed to Brandon, which is an actual name - Sophia Rodrigues should be Rodriguez at some point (Rodrigues with an s at the end instead of a z is actually much less common) - doing auto-theme on Ernest Miller is gonna suck since he's gonna end up coming out to Somebody Call My Momma or something - Dag Boomer maybe could be Doug Boomer if we're going for a name name rather than a phonetic soundalike one (like his classic counterpart "Hit Man Saber") - while I've seen Espada (without an s at the end) as a last name, I don't think I've ever seen "Espadas"; something to consider

I'll admit, I've had Mr. Cobra cutting promos in his best raspy Cobra Commander voice since I got the game.
