Amazon-57: Queen vs Lockhart vs Sturmbjorn
After a preshow where Alexandra Stava destroyed Melly Sanders, we opened with The Submissionaries bouncing back from defeat against the visiting Reinas de la Calles with Andi Harms making Ximena Valentina submit to Harms Way. Abby Stern scored an upset against the veteran Bella Hemlock with the Multiball Special; and in a streetfight Mary MacGregor survived a "Gutter Cleaner" (Leaping DDT) and a "Gutter-Plex" (Regal-Plex) from the legendary Gutter only to get bashed in the fast with an exploding barbed wirte bat to set up a rear naked choke, losing the match but earning the respect of everyone in the building including Gutter herself. Zara Al-Harbi and The Unbreakables battled Blair's Army in a battle ending in a shocker when Julia San Romero caught the legendary mat technician Ruth Sampson with a small package. Sandra Lavender tried to get back to the top of the A-1 Grand Championship ladder but fell to the VR Clutch of TEK*GIRL Saiba. The Amazon-1 Tag Team Titles changed hands in a thrilling battle where the Santa Monica Wrecking Crew became three-time champions besting the team that beat them for the titles MAYHEM after Lumpy Martinez put away Death Machine II with a Sugar Lump. Bonnie Blair looked to continue her momentum against longtime nemesis Annie Bell-Lee but despite aggressively attacking the ankle of the inagural Grand Champ, the Living Dead Girl managed to catch Blair in the Momento Mori for the win; Blair's Army swarmed the ring but Holly Houghton, who was ringside, was waiting for it and looked to get her hands on Blair. They were overwhelmed however and the surprise appearance of Mary MacGregor to make it 4-on-3 didn't seem to be enough to save the day, but it's safe to say that Houghton's grudge against Blair's Army is nowhere near resolved. Lastly Amazon-1's held up Grand Championship would be decided in three way action. Kathy Queen, Lara Lockhart, and Alena Sturmbjorn had a furious three-way battle in and out of the ring with weapons flying and the tensions between the three meant that neither woman was willing to work with each other to get any kind of advantage. Kathy Queen would catch Lara Lockhart in "Queen's Ransom" in a vulnerable moment to eliminate her from contention but this allowed Alena to collect a club from under the ring; much like she did in the 6th Amazon-1 Grand Prix batted Queen repeatedly with the club, following up with a "Berserkr Charge" (Spear) and the "Warhammer" (Kamigoye) requiring referee Cindi Slam to call the match. Alena Sturmbjorn is restored as Grand Champion with her reign being considered continuous.

Amazon-1 58: Andrews vs Sturmbjorn
After warmup match where rookie Jessika Strauss easily dispatched Melly Sanders, we had a No DQ Match for the WMD Tag Team Titles where Alexandra Stava looked to settle a grudge with the Stone Sisters with fellow DRAGONSUPLEX Dojo graduate Kellie Shark on her side; in the end Alexandra Stava delivered her "Bicep Suplex" on Bad Judy spiking her headfirst; somehow Bad Judy kicked out but was unable to get to her feet leading to a KO decision and the titles changing hands. Meanwhile Abby Stern would get an upset over a game Andy Harms and Terra would best the always dangerous Death Machine II with her signature Rolling Backdrop. Holly Houghton would join forces with unlikely allies Annie Bell-Lee and Mary MacGregor against Blair's Army in a 37-plus minute war; Holly seemed to have Bonnie Blair cornered but when Blair tagged out Linda Parker the Hooligan tried to focus on the Baroness allowing Parker to pull her hair to set up the "Mens Rea Piledriver"; after the match Mary MacGregor would seemingly help Houghton up only do drill her into the mat with a ring-shaking powerbomb. Lara Lockhart looked to knock off TEK*GIRL Saiba but was taken out by the former Grand Champion's "Deus Ex". Ruth Sampson was embarrased last month losing to the young lioness Jula San Romero and they went on a nearly 20 minute technical war, ending with San Romero pinning the legend again this time with a Flying Rana. Amazon-1 Tag Titles were on the line as Double Domme Session looked to take the titles from the Santa Monica Wrecking Crew in a marathon match where referee Cindi Slam took a lax attitude to calling fouls as the crowd wanted to see this go to a decisive finish. Kathy Queen was looking to be a triple champion and seemed destined to be so but in the end Rebecca Requiem caught her partner Bella Hemlock with a Kitchen Sink knee to set up a choke sleeper for the submission. Last but not least was the Grand Championship match as the cocky MMA fighter Mary May Andrews looked to conquer the seemingly unstoppable Warrior Queen. It was a physical battle with lots of agression but as Alena started to get the upper hand Andrews exposed a turnbuckle that Alena ended up crashing into, allowing Andrews to take advantage of Sturmbjorn's dazed state to catch her in an armbar for the submission victory. It seems the reign of Alena Sturmbjorn is finally over albeit through the most controverisal means as the night ends with a new champion.... who isn't even signed with A-1! 0. Jessika Strauss d. Amazon-1 59: San Romero vs Andrews
After a warm-up match featuring English rookie Ellen Farrant, we started with MAYHEM brawling The Guild and KANABO getting the win with Sliding K. Jessika Strauss made her official A-1 debut knocking off the first Grand Champion Annie Bell-Lee with a senton attack called Bolt Thrower, and the All-American Girls bested Double Domme Session when Lady Liberty hit the Freedom Trail on Bella Hemlok. Alena Sturmbjorn would bounce back from his championship loss knocking out Kelly Condor with the Warhammer, and in a physical grudge match Holly Houghton managed to best Mary MacGregor with a PK. Meanwhile Blair's Army members Ruth Sampson and Marie St. Dumas would go over half an hour with former Blair's Army members the Santa Monica Wrecking Crew, the veteran Ruth Sampson dumping Rebecca Requiem with her R-Type Piledriver to get the championships. An old rivalry was renewed as Bonnie Blair went up against TEK*GIRL Saiba and the two veterans went to war, in the end Bonnie Blair used a Manhattan Drop to follow up with not one but two "Leg Blariat"s followed up with the sadistic Blair Trap for the tapout. Mary May Andrews was all confidence going up against her first challenger for the A-1 Grand Championship in Julia San Romero, but Andrews found herself surprised when in the feeling out process not only was San Romero able to defend against Andrews' ground game but actually managed to pull some counter maneuvers that A-1's matchmaker and commentator Lucy Gold would note would actually have scored points in amateur competition. Andrews would keep to her gameplan and would try on multiple occassions to submit the Pep Rally Princess with armbars, but San Romero refused to give up and after dropkicking Andrews into the ropes to stun her hit the Spirit Splash to score a huge three count and an upset championship win! But the celebration was short lived as Blair's Army would send a message to San Romero by assaulting her in the middle of the ring. Mary MacGregor tried to save the day, delivering a powerbomb to Bonnie Blair but also found herself beat down. As many of you may not be aware satisfying even a majority of this roster can be... challenging at times but I think I've found an optimal solution to the Grand Championship picture.
"Therefore at Amazon-1 60, Julia San Romero will face the highly ranked and well deserved contender, Holly Houghton. Meanwhile the number one contender Bonnie Blair will challenge at the South Florida United event later in the month. However in the meantime Blair will be facing Mary MacGregor, who despite coming up short in recent matches has proven herself to be a talented competitor and has an apparent grudge with Miss Blair. Should MacGregor win, the match at SFU wil be a three-way dance.

Amazon-1 60: Amazon Games II
After a warm-up match where River Reade got people fired up with a dominating display we went straight to the Amazon Games; The action was wild and brought in surprises like Maxine Warner and Alexandra Stava (who we're told just signed a contract with Amazon-1) but no surprise was bigger than Joshi Kansai League champion Cheyenne Martin with her first match in the US for years, though her homecoming would be spoiled by Honey Badger. In the end with seven eliminations it was Annie Bell-Lee that would stand stall with the championship match. Despite Mary MacGregor showing off her power and aggression against Bonnie Blair, the youngster would come up short at her chance for a championship match as Marie St Dumas of Blair's Army would distract her allowing Blair to catch her with a takedown to jackknife cover. Ellen Farrant seemed outclassed against veteran Clockwork Angel but would catch the vet with a pinning comination dubbed Queen's Cross for the huge upset. In MMA Rules Alena Sturmbjorn and Mary May Andrews would battle intsensely but not without controversy as Sturmbjorn sent the fight to the floor and even used a chair (being docked three points and threatened with a disqualification) and Andrews would ignore referee instructions delivering a cheap elbow to Sturmbjorn while she was being looked at. In the end Alena caught Andrews with the Canadian Powerbomb, but when she hooked up Andrews for the Warhammer her opponent was clearly out cold and Cindi Slam stepped in and called the KO. The Blair's Army contingent of Ruth Sampson and Marie St Dumas would defend their tag gold against the All-American Girls in a thrilling battle with St Dumas catching Lady Liberty in the Spellbinder. Finally it wa Amazon-1 Grand Champion action and the action was fast and furious with both women bringing in their best offense, back and forth action for over fifteen minutes. It seemed as if Julia San Romero would retain with her "Spirit Splash" but Holly Houghton would have her foot on the ropes. San Romero tried a handspring elbow but the Hooligan evaded it, looking for "Stoppage Time" (Sleeper) but Romero got to the ropes, Houghton instead dragging her away from them. Cindi Slam still counted the break but Hooligan held on until the count of four, making Julia collapse and being easy prey for the Penalty Kick and a three count. Holly Houghton finally captures the A-1 Grand Championship and to her credit checks on San Romero to make sure she's okay and even raises her hand out of respect to close the show... but we know she won't do the same when it's her and Bonnie Blair later this month at South Florida United's Nightmare On Sheridan Street 0. After a pre-show bout where Elizabeth Tower had her first match since her return to the US in dominant fashion, the six-woman A1GP champions match would end with Death Machine II hitting Kathy Queen with a surprise spear, an echo of her dark horse tournament win. Mercy Toombs would qualify over the younger Tamika Eclispe with the Mercy Kill and Clockwork Angel would counter a superplex with a flying rana into a cross armbar to qualify as well.
Cheyenne Martin would get the spotlight next in her first singles match in the US since her move to Japan, beating a game Honey Badger in style with a 180 Frog Splash. Meanwile in other qualifying matches Kellie Shark would get a flash pin over fellow DRAGONSUPLEX Dojo alum Gal Friday, and Bianca Espada would knock out Kasumi Kazamiya breaking her ribs with the Sword of Damocles.
The Unbreakables looked to regain tag gold at the expense of Blair's Army, but as Julia San Romero looked for a Super Rana on Marie St. Dumas, Ruth Sampson held on to Marie's leg to allow her partner to block it, causing Romero to crash onto the canvas and fall victim to a moonsault press and the pin. Meanwhile in a wild and crazy brawl Holly Houghton would gain a huge win over original A-1 Grand Champion Annie Bell-Lee to defend her title with two consecutive PKs. With a performance like that Houghton might be able to repeat Alena Sturmbjorn's feat of winning the Grand Prix while being Grand Champion.

Amazon-1 Grand Prix First Round Night One
After a prelim non-tournament match where alternate Ai Kaimono displayed her skills, the tournament opened with controversy as KANABO used a kendo stick to incapacitate Clockwork Angel to set up a flying elbow and a pin. Bad Judy Stone scored a huge upset over Lara Lockhart with a frog splash, and once-finalist Camarilla choked out a game Rebecca Requiem with the Dark Embrace. Jessika Strauss went toe to toe with former Grand Champion Julia San Romero only to fall to a beauty of a Spirit Splash. Bella Hemlok delivered a show of force and brutality, busting young rookie Ellen Farrant wide open before finishing her off with a double stomp. Meanwhile the World's Strongest Woman overcame the dirty tactics of Bianca Espada, ducking a foreign object-loaded punch to set up for the Bicep Suplex from the World's Strongest Woman. Linda Parker looked to increase Blair's Army's chances in Round Two but despite having a great performance Spaghetti Starchild would wipe her out with the LS-Knee. Finally Elizabeth Tower and Big Jen Stone would face off in a battle of two of the biggest women in the Grand Prix. Amazon-1 Grand Prix First Round Night Two
After a prelim match with Tamika Eclipse warming up in case she's needed as an alternate, Mortebella would go up against the Kitsune of Blood Chiyoko Akanomu and drive her to the mat with SUNDS. Sandra Lavender would deliver a win over a very game Abby Stern drilling her with Banisher, while Gina Teller made a triumphant return in a year since her self-imposed exit from Amazon-1 submitting the talented Mercy Toombs with a Cattle Mutilation.
Honey Badger as last year's finalist had a lot to prove and took out Lady Liberty hyperextending her shoulder with the Honey Trap. In the biggest upset of the first round Sharon Medina caught former A-1 Grand Champ Lumpy Martinez with the Jaegar Bomb for the three count, while Kelly Condor wiped out Kellie Shark with two superkicks followed by Mohs 11.
Maxine Warner was a heavy favorite to go far in the A1GP but Zara Al-Harbi had the pride of Roxbury, Mass to defend and caught the fearsome Lagomorph with a flying knee to the back of the skull. And last but not least we had a brutal

Amazon-1 Grand Prix 8 Round of 32 Night One
After a warmup match where Chiyoko Akanomu made short work of Kelly C, we had a star of Women of Mass Destruction, Bella Hemlok, facing off against the newly crowned WMD Champion Mary MacGregor and coming up short thanks to Miss Mary Mack's crushing offense culminating in a running crossbody. Mortebella continued her winning ways taking out Terra with the Wake Up Call while Cheyenne Martin showed why she's the top woman in Joshi Kansai League delivering a brutal Tiger Driver which Bad Judy Stone needed assitance to leave the ring after.
Grand Champion Holly Houghton fended off a fired up Zara Al-Harbi with a pair of Penalty Kicks followed by Straight Red, while DELINQUENT's bid for US stardom was foiled by her fellow countrywoman TEK*GIRL Saiba and the infamous VR Drill. Julia San Romero and Ruth Sampson (a DOUBLE champion, being both A-1 Tag and MCW Ladies champion) have faced off earlier this year with Romero besting the veteran both times but tonight the Ruthless One was not taking San Romero lightly, putting away The Pep Rally Princess with her R-Type Piledriver.
In the most physical match of the night Kathy Queen and KANABO had a brutal striking battle, and while KANABO seemed to have it won with multiple Death Valley Bombs, a Sliding K and a devastating running Lariat but Queen used no one but three Queen's Landings to advance to the Round of 16. And in arguably the most thrilling match of the night Hija Del Santa Muerte endured the best that Sandra Lavender had to offer and take her out with the Praying Powerbomb.
With only one woman from the opening round advancing, and former A1GP winners being 3 for 3, this year's A1GP looks to be the most brutally competitive yet.

Amazon-1 Grand Prix 8 Round of 32 Night Two
After a pre-show bout where Big Jen Stone let out some agression at the expense of Melly Sanders, we began with Spaghetti Starchild outwrestling the mat technician Marie St. Dumas and planting her with Psychedelic Driver II. Annie Bell-Lee submitted Sharon Medina with a Dragon Sleeper, and while Gutter rallied strong against Alexandra Stava the powerhouse caught her in the Bicep Suplex, Gutter being dumped directly on her head for the fall and Gutter needing to be stretchered out afterward.
Bonnie Blair (no longer wearing a wig showing her hair fully regrown since having her head shaved bald by Kathy Queen last year) started strong against her former subordinate Elizabeth Tower but the Giantess had a score to settle and got some payback with a Knee Trembler. Death Machine II showed the dominance that made her A1GP winner four years ago with a punishing Mafia Kick to Honey Badger, while her fellow A1GP4 finalist Camarilla would overcome a game Andi Harmy thanks to the Sunnydale Splash.
Kelly Condor was determined to finally make it to the upper echelons of the Amazon-1 rankings but Alena Sturmbjorn was determined to become a back to back GP winner. Despite surviving two Warhammer knees Condor would intercept Sturmbjorn's Berserkr Charge with a well-timed chop to set up Condor Arrow only getting a two count; a third Warhammer by Sturmbjorn would secure the Warrior Queen a ticket to the Round of 16.
Meanwhile "One Punch Girl" Gina Teller was looking to rewrite her destiny and accomplish what she fell so short last year but she was in the ring with the pride of Osaka Japan, Sakura Megohime. Gina took the best Sakura had to offer and nearly made her tap with the Cattle Mutilation but in the end she experienced the beauty of Osaka In Bloom leading to Megohime getting the win. Both women got a standing ovation from the crowd.
