Finally breaking down and getting a new (well, refurbished but newer than what I have) desktop PC. It's about 5 years overdue.

The sweet feeling when you pay off another debt. Just made the last payment on my 2019 model Tomenosuke, aside from the impending duty fee. Glad I ordered when I did 8 months ago because the price of them has gone up from $999.00 US to $1200.00 US due to the extremely limited stock. Only 300 of this batch were made and Hollywood Collectibles was able to obtain 100 of that lot to sell. Knew I had to get the 2019 model even though I bought the three previous models as well. This November of 2019 is the same month and year Blade Runner is set in. Now I will start up the new PC fund. My brother just bought a full up to date top of the line custom built rig for something like $2300 Canadian. By the time I have that much saved up for a PC all of that will be outdated, but I try and get a new system every three or four years and my current one is almost three years old now. Still working okay and I will keep it in another room as a back up computer
EDIT: I also forgot, one year of car payments done this month as well.

Won't go into a sermon, but honestly, happiness for me comes from my relationship with Christ, my wife, and my family.

August is a 3 pay month and every day brings us closer to September temperatures. It's been so hot here I haven't even gone out to work out at night in over a week. I did the opposite and ate a ton of ice cream and watched anime.
Also hopefully getting our fiber op installed August 6th. It's been so long since I've done any real online gaming. Now I've got Crash Team Racing, Samurai Shodown and maybe even Fire Pro Wrestling World to try out on a 100meg connection.

Nice! We have to pay for PSN to play online, right? I'd love to play SS and KOF online from time to time but I don't see having enough time to do so to justify the cost. I'd probably get wrecked anyway given the scattershot job I'm doing at getting decent at both.

I now have my fibre op connection going. What a difference. I can now watch youtube videos in the highest HD instead of the 360p I normally use, which still had to buffer. Downloaded a 2gig patch (presumably that balance patch) for Sam Shodown on the PS4 in minutes instead of hours. First time I will be able to game online without being the weak link in a game. Wish I had this speed when MAG was still alive and well.

I had a very rough 6 months.
I was fired from my workplace (where I worked for the past 9 years). This happened shortly after our second child was born and my wife took a prolonged maternity leave by several months (assuming I'd be working). On one hand, I got to spend time with my family but when you're out of work, it's really hard to enjoy yourself. It's like you constantly have this pressure on you.
It's not like we we're starving for bread... While many Americans live from paycheck to paycheck, things are a little different for the middle class here in Israel. The system is built in such a way that saving is encouraged. I am an economist so it also helped to maintain a budget and be somewhat ready for a dark day (my wife is a spender and a complete opposite though :)). We were still losing money of course, and as time went by I really began to feel the pressure.
I *almost* broke down and took a job lower than my current rank but it finally worked out for me and after a looooong process, I finally signed a contract in a very good company, a promotion for me and an increase of about 50% in salary. I didn't start yet, waiting for final procedural closure and expect to start within days.
Now that the pressure is off, I am *really* enjoying myself and just feeling happy. My wife and kids traveled to Russia, to visit my wife's parents. After I finalized my work, I flew to visit them too. Came back a few days ago and after finishing a few tasks I was postponing (cleaning some stuff around the house, fixing my teeth, etc.), I am fully free and don't have a single thing to worry about.
I sleep as much as I want, watch wrestling & TV series, meet friends for beer, play a ton of Fire Pro, go to the gym. When else will I get such a vacation in the middle of a busy life? One helpful thing I managed to do is learn a topic from scratch - Bitcoin and Blockchain technology (see my Cryptocurrency thread). I never had time for it and boy, I'm glad I made the effort to look into it. I'm pretty sure the investment I made today will change my life in the future. I also sneaked a short trip with a friend to Norway. Beautiful place!
So yeah, feel very good right now. If any of you is having a bad time, stay strong & positive, bad times don't last.

I'm VERY happy to hear that things have turned around and are so positive again, Sonny!! 😃
I hope that the new job goes really well too 😎

There almost needs to be a “great inventions propelling humanity into the future” thread, but for now, the triumph of human innovation that is the scented, anti-splash urinal piss mat must be celebrated! What think tank of geniuses came up with a mat that simultaneously makes it nearly impossible to splash piss everywhere while deodorizing the area with easy on the nose fruity scents, taking an otherwise potentially horrific public restroom experience to an almost pleasant, temporary vacation from the rigours of day to day life? I think there should be a day set aside for the recognition of the inventors of the anti splash deodorizing piss mat, or at least a parade (with proper social distancing, of course), to celebrate those who took us away from the savagery of the slovenly urinal puck and all of it’s associated splashiness into the wonderful future we now exist in!

It's so easy to take the little things for granted.

I am especially happy today because I received my letter of eligibility to be a teacher in my State earlier this month and today it was confirmed my application has been processed with my County Public School Board. I can now start applying to schools.
I am happy at the thought of embarking on a career.
I graduated at the age of 21 with a degree in Theology, while I've never recanted on my faith, it was always a struggle with not being able to become a minister, having a huge debt and a feeling of wasting my time.
I had to work a lot of jobs, some pretty menial, lately it's been getting better. Now thankfully, it looks like I will be able to start a career in my early 40s as a schoolteacher. It's not just a job, but something that I can be proud of and for which I can have a genuine passion.
