Oh wow, the old Shadowrun tabletop card game is coming back through Kickstarter. It was funded in 45 minutes. I actually never got to play the original game, but on a whim I ended up buying a crapload of the original cards on Ebay just to see what it was like. Now the game is coming back with all new decks and I just found out it's compatible with all the old cards. It's been decades since I played one of these tabletop card games. My brothers were really into Magic the Gathering, which I think is still live and well but I was really into Rage back in school. Definitely threw in for this kickstarter.

Found out at work today the plant is doing a full shutdown at Christmas to balance our stocks. It’s been a good three or four years since we’ve done a full holiday shutdown. Last few years it’s only been three days off. This year it’s sixteen, right into the new year. Although I will be losing 4 shifts so will have to put some purchases on hold.

Can’t imagine 16 days off, let alone around Christmas! Good for you!

Nice! Free time is the best gift a job can give, especially around the holidays! 😁

I'm living the dream being in teaching compared to my old job working for a government contractor when it comes to holidays.
I will be off from Nov. 21-25 (Off weekends anyway so I am not counting those) for Thanksgiving.
I have 2 weeks off for Christmas, another week for Spring Break, and Summer vacation. Plus the Federal holidays that start up in Jan and Feb giving us a long weekend every month.
Apart from Spring Break, the rest of plans are laid out and Lord willing, it will be fun.
Heading to Orlando during Thanksgiving week.
During Christmas break, we will be heading to Tampa for Busch Gardens and Friday Night Smackdown, my wife surprised me with floor tickets. Then after Tampa, back to Orlando.
Then next summer I will be heading back to Canada for the first time in 5 years to see m family. My dad already made a new Shena board for me to use.
Gonna be epic.

Company just announced a Spring slowdown. Every third shift in our three shift block for April and going into May has been cut. Could go on for longer but they will decide in May. Fortunately with 86 vacation hours left I can cover all these cut shifts and still get full pay. Glad I didn’t burn them all in the winter. Sucks for some people though, who will have to work makeup shifts if they don’t want to take the pay hit.

3 left on Amazon.ca, price cut by $115, did a quick price comparison on Ebay, had to take the plunge and order one while I could.

Free money, yay. For years my benefits provider through work has offered an annual $500 spending allotment toward 'personal improvement' items. But it was such a complicated process of paperwork and receipts and jumping through hoops that I just never bothered using it. The legwork required just to get it wasn't even worth the effort. I think the provider found that a lot of people weren't using it due to the bureaucracy involved in getting it.
Then this year they changed the rules. No more receipts, no more jumping through hoops, you go on the app, fill out a little form and put in your requisition, 24 hours later the money is transferred into your bank account no questions asked.
I didn't believe it could be that easy until I just did it. I just got an e-mail from them saying request accepted and a bank alert saying the money had been deposited into my account. I'll definitely be using this every year now.

Good news: Got let out of work 4 hours early today, with pay. Since I've had my car paid off since June I've been banking all that overtime pay into overtime hours to cover things like going home early and Christmas shutdown days. Things are starting to slow down as we edge closer to the Christmas shutdown. 10 days off this year and I have my vacation booked from mid February to near the end of March. That should eat up a good chunk of the winter.
Bad news: My mp3 player finally died after at least three years of solid use. Usually an mp3 player lasts me about a year so this one was a real workhorse. It was already starting to act a little quirky and then I accidentally put it through the washing machine and dryer, but amazingly it still worked for almost another month. Actually internally it is still working, but this time the physical structure of it has finally given out with none of the buttons making their corresponding actions. So today my backup mp3 player became my primary mp3 player. Was also amazed to find the sim card easily transferred from one player to the other with no loss of data.
Good news: Went on Amazon and saw they had a lightning sale on the same mp3 player so I have a new backup mp3 player on the way.
Bad news: When I bought a dash cam for my car three years ago I actually bought a second one for my parents. For 3 years theirs sat on a shelf because my father wasn't sure how to set it up. So today I decided to set it up for him, only to discover it doesn't work... years passed the warranty. Life lesson, when you buy electronics, check to see they work immediately rather than waiting.
Good news: Just got my winter tires on before our first scheduled snow storm on the season. Weather warning of 20cm of snow for Monday. Got my tires on, but fortunately I'm not working again until Wednesday night so I actually have my new snow shield set up on the windshield to test out.
Bad news: Been snagging games cheap, here and there off of the PSN winter sale. There was one game that was coming out in either August, September or October I wanted, but I can't check to see if it's on sale because for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. So now I gotta go check my old posts to see if I posted a trailer of it here at some point to see if I can find it.

Glad you got the replacement MP3 player!
I had an MP3 player in like 2002-2005 that was the best and most portable music player I've ever had. No walkman or iphone or anything came close. When it eventually just died, it sucked.
Hope you find the name of the game you want so you can play it during winter break!
Looking forward to the rundown of your vacation time 😁

I am thankful to the Lord for how things have gotten better for me compared to 20 years ago. (I am in my mid-40s for anyone who is curious)
I am happily married, I have a stable job that is going well. I also have the ability to do things I enjoy.
While I had no idea things were gonna go this route, I am grateful.

Holiday weekend. Was supposed to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday night on the grueling night shift trilogy of the month, but thanks to Canada day I only have to work Friday night shift then I'm off until Wednesday day shift. I don't think I get another break even close to that long again until Christmas shutdown. The good thing is I am on the shut down shift which means the possibility of getting out early and I still have my overtime hours maxed out at 54 to spend on stuff like going home early. Nothing quite as satisfying as driving home at midnight or 3am on a empty highway. It always reminds me of those two highway night time levels in Mario Kart. Toad's Turnpike and I forget the other one, but I always think of Mario Kart whenever I get lucky enough to get out early on a night shift and drive home.

When you get promoted to a supervisor position after your manager heard you yell the top of your lungs. Your voice is then compared to a radio-friendly voice, and you become the announcer for the company's special events.
Time and time again, my love of Pro-Wrestling and admiration for announcers like Howard Finkel, Jesse 'The Body' Ventura and, of course, Jim Ross continues to pay off.

Chance Card: Go Directly to Go Collect $200
Showed up for first night of my weekend night shifts and just got told Saturday and Sunday night shifts are cancelled due to lack of product. Plus I have enough hours banked up to cover both those shifts so I still get paid for them. Gonna be a lot of happy people at work tonight.
