Another wild night with the back end of this card proving to be absolutely electric. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1123790837Youtube: youtu.be/X6C3qerow_8Quick Results Maria Marella def. Trish Michaels Angie Starr def. Yuki Okamura Helena Lundgren and Vanessa Saunders def. The Dream City Bandits Trinity Knight def. Melody Bryant Y-Pac def. Asha Nelson and Rhiannon Banes Jessica Kimblee def. Virginia Caldwell The Foundation def. Wild and Wilde Inc. Fiona Walsh def. Kasey Ryder Fuyuki Takenaka and Rin Jokusato def. Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers to become the NEW Academy Tag Team Champions Tara Helmsley def. Lexi Dawson to become the NEW Academy Champion Write-ups Strong showing for Maria Marella this month as she scores a huge victory over Trish Michaels, working her usual gameplan to perfection. Simple, effective, and straight to the point. Potentially one of Angie Starr's best showings yet in the Academy, a wild, relentless victory that saw her almost literally running circles around Yuki Okamura, scoring the win after sliding through Yuki's legs and snapping her up for the pinfall. The raw power of Helena Lundgren combined with the incredible striking game of Vanessa Saunders proved too much for the Dream City Bandits, despite Allie Katt and Shelly Hotlips doing everything they could to stay in control of the match, no matter what tactics it took. A late frenzy of brutal offense from Vanessa put that to an end, though, and served as a reminder of just how vicious the former kickboxer can be. Trinity Knight showed absolutely no signs of being even slowed down from her ill-fated Butterfloor appearance, looking utterly dominant against Melody Bryant. Indeed, she might have been even more arrogant and confident than ever before, laughing down at Melody after throwing her out of the ring and ultimately landing a spectacular Sky Twister to score the pinfall. What's likely the last three-way matchup for the Academy for a good while wound up being an all-out showcase for Y-Pac, who made it absolutely crystal-clear that she might just be one of the top talents in the Academy out of nowhere. She was a dominant force in this one, sweeping both of her opponents, and could find herself with a shot at the Academy Championship before long. Jessica Kimblee's spectacular athleticism proved decisive here, as she was a powerhouse for most of the match, shutting down Virginia Caldwell's usual submission game, and finally wiping her out with a huge flipping dropkick from the top rope. Kimblee seems poised to try and make another run at the top herself... and there might not be anyone that can prevent that. Month after month, the Foundation prove that they're the top team in the Academy, regardless of what the rankings say. It's truly hard to deny that the veterans haven't backed it up every single time they hit the ring... and here, they simply overwhelmed Wild and Wilde Inc., with Syringa finishing things off with her usual submission work. This match was well on its way to becoming a one-sided stomping in Fiona's favor: and then, Kasey Ryder erupted into a huge comeback push. While she still eventually fell to Fiona's suplexes, Kasey made one thing absolutely clear: you do not go up against her and push her aside without a fight. Nobody expected the Cassandra Pro duo to get this far, but here we are. Fuyuki Takenaka, clearly not wanting a repeat of last month, was determined to come away with gold this time alongside Rin Jokusato... and despite Rin's usual goofball antics and generally being just a little bit on the clumsy side (to say the least), she's still spectacular when she puts the pieces together... and it's made them tag team champions, ending Steele and Silvers' reign before it had hardly begun. Lexi Dawson finally ran into someone that was ready to end her Academy run for good. Tara Helmsley had been waiting for this match for months, always pushed back by some mishap or defeat at the last second. No longer... she got her shot and did not miss, throwing out every one of her biggest moves and finally putting Lexi away with a spinebuster, securing the Academy Championship for Rule XXX (their first gold in the Academy!) and sending Lexi on her way to AFW full-time.

Still not really "running" house shows, but that isn't to say the Academy isn't still holding them. I've just not been really doing anything with them myself. That said... we do have a special showcase match this month. A battle between two of the Academy's rising stars in Trinity Knight and Samantha Steele... which one will come out ahead in the battle of technique vs. power? Result Spoiler HereSamantha Steele def. Didn't end up getting the previews written. Oh well. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1157608165Youtube: youtu.be/OF6lzpkOUZUQuick Results Trinity Knight def. Sarah Silvers Helena Lundgren def. Melody Bryant Yuki Okamura def. Vanessa Saunders Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee vs. The Dream City Bandits went to a time-limit draw Samantha Steele def. Maria Marella Angie Starr def. Rhiannon Banes The Foundation def. Fiona Walsh and Virginia Caldwell Josie Wilde def. Asha Nelson Heather Wild def. Tara Helmsley to become the NEW Academy Champion Rule XXX def. Fuyuki Takenaka and Rin Jokusato to become the NEW Academy Tag Team Champions Write-ups Trinity Knight is at it again. For the third match in a row, she took to biting her opponent, and for the second night in a row, it definitely gave her the upper hand. Following her victory on Butterfloor the night before, Trinity came out ahead over Sarah Silvers and made sure the Academy was paying attention... she's more dangerous than ever. Helena Lundgren continues to be one of the toughest powerhouses in Academy history, and this showed it off better than most. A wild match ultimately saw Helena hit Bow Down, and that powerbomb put Melody down for the pinfall. Easily the best match Yuki Okamura's had since she arrived in the Academy, this was a pure display of skill, outplaying Vanessa with superior matwork (which, honestly, shouldn't come as much surprise as Vanessa's a standup fighter.) The Dream City Bandits and time-limit draws: there's no better pair in the Academy. Still, it wasn't as though nobody was trying to finish here... it's just that nobody could quite put it away before the thirty-minute timer ran out. Maria Marella has done well to keep up with the rest of the Academy over time, but Samantha Steele had no intention of letting the long-time Academy member beat her here, showing her tremendous power and overwhelming Maria for a dominant victory. Angie Starr's looked better every single show, and she was electric here, making a huge comeback against Rhiannon Banes and snapping her up with a sneaky flash pin to take the victory. A lot of the newer names have been stealing the show lately... could some of the old guard finally be ready to move on? As dangerous as the duo of Virginia and Fiona have been, The Foundation continues to be the one and only top team in the Academy. But with two tag title reigns and a Phoenix Rising Trios Championship reign under their belts, even after this win... how long are they going to stick around? Asha Nelson's improved greatly from her rookie days... but Josie Wilde didn't seem to care tonight, coming out ahead with a thunderous lariat and scoring the huge win. Josie might be setting the stage for a big-time shot at the Academy Championship before long... Heather Wild did not care that Tara Helmsley only won the Academy Championship last month. She wanted that title back around her waist, and she damn well did it... though it took a fair bit of work to get there, a wheelbarrow Stunner would close it out and bring Heather back to the top. Y-Pac and Trish Michaels may not be regular tag partners, but it didn't seem to matter here as they went to war with Rin and Fuyuki, intent on fighting to the finish, seeking the Academy Tag Team Championships. It was a diving elbow drop from Trish that finally put this one away... and as Rule XXX loses one title, they quickly gain another, which Tara Helmsley will no doubt hold a share of...

Couple of things ahead of the card for tomorrow's Academy show: The Foundation's calling their Academy run finished here, after having challenged for the AFW Tag Team Championships, so the card will be slightly smaller than normal. With a few more people also set to leave at the end of the year, the Academy will be looking to get some new blood on the roster (read: I'm gonna try and get a couple new rookies made, but lemme know if you happen to have someone you feel you want to join the roster and I'll take a look.) All that said: Blackwood Academy November 2021 Live Show Helena Lundgren vs. Trinity Knight
Fuyuki Takenaka and Rin Jokusato vs. Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee
Vanessa Saunders vs. Maria Marella
Trish Michaels vs. Rhiannon Banes
The Dream City Bandits vs. Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers
Yuki Okamura vs. Melody Bryant
Josie Wilde vs. Angie Starr

One more Academy show for 2021. One more set of title matches and a glimpse into the rookie class for 2022. Let's actually do the match previews this month. Blackwood Academy December 2021 Live Show Olivia Van Acker vs. Djeneba Kouame
Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee vs. Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh
Maria Marella vs. Melody Bryant
The Yoshida Twins vs. The Dream City Bandits
Asha Nelson vs. Trinity Knight
Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka vs. Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers
Trish Michaels vs. Yuki Okamura
Josie Wilde vs. Rhiannon Banes
Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren vs. Rule XXX (Tara/Y-Pac) for the Academy Tag Team Championships
Angie Starr vs. Heather Wild for the Academy Championship This is a look to next year, with the Academy debuts of two fresh-faced rookies: Olivia Van Acker from Belgium, and Djeneba Kouame from the Ivory Coast. Olivia's already made some waves as trainers already seem to be of the mind that she could be a top-level technician once she finds her stride in the Academy, while Kouame is a talented striker, looking to branch out under the tutelage of the Academy's trainers. Kasey Ryder, by all rights, could call her Academy run done at any time, but Jessica Kimblee seems to be the one factor keeping her around. Ryder's staying, and she'll team up with Kimblee to take on the always-dangerous team of Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh. Melody Bryant says farewell to the Academy with one final match, taking on Maria Marella before she makes Proving Ground her full-time home. Perhaps it'll help her re-focus on Proving Ground, where she's already had some issues teaming up with her sister, Anna. A last-minute call sees the Yoshida Twins return to the Academy for one night only... taking on the Dream City Bandits. With their schedule mostly open, the Yoshidas are more than willing to fill in... can the Bandits step up against one of the hottest teams the Academy ever saw? Trinity Knight, likewise, also has her final Academy appearance here, looking to end her run with a win over Asha Nelson. But Asha's been a steady presence, improving month after month... can Trinity close out her Academy tenure on top? The Cassandra Pro duo once again squares off with the quickly-rising stars that are Steele and Silvers... this time, without the tag titles on the line, as Steele and Silvers look to get revenge on the team that ended their first reign as champions. Trish Michaels will be the odd one out this month, stepping into the ring with Yuki Okamura as she looks to raise her stock and perhaps make a push for the Academy Championship, hoping to bring it back into Rule XXX's hands. Yuki Okamura, though, might be putting the pieces together, and that's bad news for anyone in her way... Josie Wilde came up just short of a shot at the Academy Championship, and now will have to wait another month to get a run at the title... luckily for her, Rhiannon Banes isn't part of the rankings, so her spot is not at risk. Still, a win here would do wonders for Josie as she perhaps sets her eyes on the Academy Championship... but only if Heather Wild happens to lose it. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren are, by all rights, on their way out to AFW. But they earned a tag title match, and there's no way they're going to pass it up. Can they knock down Rule XXX and linger on the Academy roster for another month after their graduation? Angie Starr has had a red-hot rise to the top. She put everything together very suddenly, and quickly became a force on the roster. Now she's got a shot at championship gold... if she can beat Heather Wild, who's looked tremendous thus far as champion. Who will enter the new year on top?

The Academy's wrapped for 2021, and the next time we see them, it'll be a new roster. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1229281256Youtube: youtu.be/S8dHGwTEDM8Quick Results Djeneba Kouame def. Olivia Van Acker Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee def. Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh Maria Marella def. Melody Bryant The Dream City Bandits def. The Yoshida Twins Trinity Knight def. Asha Nelson Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers def. Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka Yuki Okamura def. Trish Michaels Josie Wilde def. Rhiannon Banes Rule XXX def. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren to retain the Academy Tag Team Championships Heather Wild def. Angie Starr to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups Our first glimpse of two of the upcoming 2022 rookie class wound up being a very solid showcase match, seeing Olivia showing off her already-impressive technical prowess... and Djeneba's downright vicious striking game, culminating in a truly brutal combo that sealed the victory. Kasey Ryder's been on a roll lately, whether it's in teaming with Jessica Kimblee or flying solo. Nowhere was that clearer than here, despite Virginia Caldwell's efforts to do what Candace Monroe's been doing lately and take her opponent's leg off, but Kasey stayed on target alongside Jessica, and came away with the big win. Maria Marella just stays as consistent as ever. She's been a strong presence in the Academy almost since the beginning, and Melody Bryant still seems to have some trouble finding her way. Also, this match ended strangely with Maria going for a different submission than her usual F- clutch. The Dream City Bandits have always had a tendency to push the 30-minute time limit, often to their detriment. Once again, they pushed the limits here against the Yoshidas, but make no mistake: the Bandits are still dangerous, and they still won this one, thanks to Shelly Hotlips. Somebody must've told Trinity to try and keep it clean for once, because that's what she did: no biting, no sign of her usual wild violence, just a systematic destruction of Asha Nelson's arms before catching her in a Wakigatame for the submission victory. She'll probably make up for this match being so calm and collected by going absolutely bonkers on Evergreen next week. God help us all. The rematch between these teams was just as hard-fought as their last meeting, even with no title on the line... but Sarah Silvers came out ahead of the pack, lining up and landing a High Speed Mistica to force a submission, and reminding the Academy that she's perhaps one of the fastest and most agile talents ever to step in its ring. Somebody remind Yuki Okamura that she doesn't have to go absolute full-bore all the time... the Academy is a learning fed, after all, and nobody learns much from a win like this other than "don't let Yuki go full-force immediately". Josie Wilde wasn't about to let anyone, not even someone leaving the Academy, to have a claim to her shot at the Academy Championship next month. Rhiannon Banes certainly made this interesting, but Josie's clearly got her sights set on gold... even if she has to go through her own tag partner to get it. Rule XXX would not let the titles be held by a team that's heading off to AFW. Tara and Y-Pac once again showed everyone that they're a shockingly solid duo, and Tara, perhaps not wanting to relive the days of "not being a champion" that lasted approximately twenty minutes a few months ago (the horror!) came away with the pinfall, keeping Rule XXX firmly on top. Defense #3 for Heather Wild as Academy Champion, and the aspiring rockstar is quickly establishing herself as a true breakout talent. Angie Starr gave this one a solid run, but Heather might just be the best there is in the Academy right now... three defenses down, and her fourth will be against her own partner in Wild and Wilde Inc.

Back at it again, on schedule (unlike the rest of Phoenix Rising) and ready to hit the ground running for year 4 of the Academy, with the biggest roster it's had to date. As a result... well, you'll see. Blackwood Academy January 2022 Live Show Olivia Van Acker vs. Manamea Tatupu
Teighler Tisdale vs. Jessica Kimblee
Anima.box (PECORITTA and RINAKO) vs. The Sky Dragons (Nimbus and Altarya)
Sokhatai Batsaikhan vs. Fuyuki Takenaka
Djeneba Kouame vs. Angie Starr vs. Sarah Silvers vs. Trish Michaels vs. Yuki Okamura vs. Rin Jokusato vs. Virginia Caldwell vs. Kasey Ryder for the inaugural Academy Battle Royal Championship
Samantha Steele vs. Fiona Walsh
The Dream City Bandits vs. Honey Popsicle
Josie Wilde vs. Heather Wild for the Academy Championship
Maria Marella and Asha Nelson vs. Rule XXX (Tara and Y-Pac) for the Academy Tag Team Championships It's the rookies kicking things off in the opener, and while we've seen a bit of Olivia Van Acker ahead of this show, we've only just gotten Manamea Tatupu in to make her debut right here. Joining the other four true rookies for this year, Manamea is the younger sister of Wrestle Parade's familiar Mea'alofa and Manu'ula Tatupu. And while she'll be working under much of the same guidelines as the other rookies, expect her to bring a different style regardless as she seeks to make a name for herself. Cheerleaders! The Academy's had two up to this point, and now, there's a third, in Teighler Tisdale, making her Academy debut against Jessica Kimblee. A tall order, no doubt, for Tisdale... but there's always the chance of someone coming in to make a splash on day one. A pair of debuting tag teams keep things rolling along here, with the striker duo of anima.box taking on newcomers the Sky Dragons, consisting of true rookie Nimbus and more experienced Altarya. This may be a real test of ability for all four women here: the striking prowess of anima.box against the already-spectacular high-flying skills that the Sky Dragons bring to the table. Power. That's what's on display here, as newcomer Sokhatai Batsaikhan sets her sights on perhaps the strongest woman ever to set foot in the Blackwood Academy, Fuyuki Takenaka. The Mongolian rookie seeks to make a major statement against a former Academy tag champ... but does she really have what it takes? The mid-way point, and we've got a brand-new Academy title to crown. Going forward, owing to the very, very large roster (30 in total, easily the biggest it's ever been!) each show will see a defense of this brand-new Battle Royal Championship: contested under timed-match rules, over-the-top-rope rules active, and whoever wins this will carry it to the next show... to enter in the 8th slot, carrying an advantage in defending the title. Which one of these eight will be crowned the first champion? The next two women in line for a shot at the Academy Championship after Josie Wilde will square off to see who gets the next one... Samantha Steele is the relative newcomer, certainly compared to now-veteran presence Fiona Walsh, but Steele has garnered a tremendous reputation as of late. But can she topple Fiona, who was one of the more dominant Academy Champions in recent memory? Another debuting tag team, Honey Popsicle comes in from the same source as Hard Work: a Cassandra Pro team that looks primed to break out as fan favorites right out of the gate. Their opponents? None other than the Dream City Bandits, who continue to terrorize the Academy's tag division time and time again. Heather Wild has now defended the Academy Championship against two very tough foes in Asha Nelson and Angie Starr... and now the toughest challenge she may face comes from her own tag team partner. Josie Wilde has come this far before, but has never held the top prize of the Academy... but could she pull it off this time? Even if she has to take down her long-time partner to do it? Closing out the night, it's Rule XXX once again standing up to defend the Academy tag titles... and once again, it'll be Tara Helmsley and Y-Pac defending them, while Trish Michaels tries to claim yet more gold for the stable in the battle royal. Maria Marella and Asha Nelson have been here before. They've won these titles in the past. But can they do it again and stand above the division one more time?

The Academy has kicked off the new year, and we're off to the races. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/1278509445Youtube: youtu.be/2RJ8ao6d9kQQuick Results Manamea Tatupu def. Samantha Steele def. Fiona Walsh Honey Popsicle def. The Dream City Bandits Heather Wild def. Josie Wilde to retain the Academy Championship Asha Nelson and Maria Marella def. Rule XXX to become the NEW Academy Tag Team Champions Write-ups A very, very impressive debut match for the young Tatupu, who quickly made things clear: Sokhatai will not be the only powerhouse joining the Academy this year. Olivia put up a hell of a fight, showing her technical prowess, but couldn't come up with the win, tapping out to a single-leg crab. Teighler Tisdale likewise made her first Academy showing here, and ran into the wall that is Jessica Kimblee. Kimblee was just that much better, though Teighler certainly kept it interesting, but a rolling German suplex from the Top Dawg put this one away. More debuting stars, this time the striking duo of anima.box taking on the high-flying Sky Dragons. Altarya was definitely the star of the show here, at one point briefly trading blows with her opponents, and she'd ultimately pick up the victory with a running crucifix pin. As impressive a powerhouse as Mongolian Sokhatai Batsaikhan is, there's only one top powerhouse in the Academy, and that's clearly Fuyuki Takenaka, and we saw every little bit of it on display here as Fuyuki taught the fresh rookie who's in charge. As expected, the inaugural Battle Royal Championship match was chaotic and full of action clear to the end. But at the end, it was Virginia Caldwell who'd stand tall, enduring the storm of over-the-top eliminations until she stood alone in the ring with Rin Jokusato, and brought her down with a series of strikes to score the final elimination by pinfall. If there's one person on the Academy roster that might have a chance of calling herself the top powerhouse as opposed to Fuyuki, it's Samantha Steele... and she certainly proved she's capable of it with this dominant victory over former Academy Champion Fiona Walsh. Honey Popsicle has arrived, and the newly-debuting Cassandra Pro duo immediately made a statement with this victory, scoring huge against the Dream City Bandits on the back of Shizuko Ibuki's Figure Four variation, forcing a submission and making their debut a very, very successful one. Some might wonder why Heather Wild is still here in the Blackwood Academy coming into what's now year 4 of her tenure on the roster. This match might just be a signal of why... she's never been better, never flown higher than she has over the past few months. A third defense, taking down Josie Wilde, and Heather's truly come into her own as a wrestler: might she be looking to make her move to one of the main rosters soon? Once again, Asha Nelson and Maria Marella have reached the top of the tag team division. Asha continues to be perhaps one of the most-improved wrestlers in the Academy over the past year... and it's her skills that brought them this win, taking down Rule XXX and rising to the pinnacle of the Academy once more.
