Off and running for September, as we charge towards another big-time show for the Academy. Quick Results Melody Bryant def. Rei Hasegawa Helena Lundgren def. Hikari Ueno Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee def. The Dream City Bandits Vanessa Saunders def. Angela Rothenberg Brianna Tierney def. Baby Peregrine Keiko Maeda def. Rhiannon Banes Rule XXX vs. Wild and Wilde Inc. ended in a time limit draw. Emma Travers def. Maria Marella Asha Nelson def. Diosa Syringa Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson def. Fiona Walsh and Virginia Caldwell Write-ups This seemed to be mostly a case of Melody refusing to quit, fighting through Rei's full finishing sequence twice before snapping off a Perfect-plex, narrowly managing to get past Rei in a tough matchup to open the show. This was as intense a match as the Academy's seen in a while, with both Helena and Hikari tearing into each other, pushing for the big finish. Eventually, though, Helena would cement her position as the top powerhouse, and a crushing brainbuster would take Hikari down. The last time these two teams met, it ended in a time-limit draw. It was time for a rematch, with both sides looking for a more decisive victory. And Kasey Ryder, fresh off of a truly impressive victory in the 50-state tournament, would take home the win in much the same way as she did Thursday, hitting that diving double-stomp, and scoring another victory. Could we see Kasey becoming a breakout star? This seemed like a return to form for Vanessa Saunders, cutting Angela Rothenberg down to size with her brutal array of kicks. She was relentless, finishing the job with a series of knees, and taking home a dominant victory. A very narrow win for Brianna here, despite controlling a lot of the match. Peregrine simply would not give in, and nearly stole the win with the Small Package Bomb, but Brianna managed to kick out and land a big-time frog splash to escape with the victory. There's no way around it: This was pure, utter dominance from Keiko Maeda, on a level that we might not have seen from her before. Rhiannon just could not get anything going, and Keiko just plowed through for a huge victory. Rule XXX just doesn't know how to keep things in the ring. This spilled into a brawl on the outside multiple times, and Tara and Trish would both be out there with Heather Wild, double-teaming her while Josie watched from inside the ring. Is there trouble with Wild and Wilde? Two skilled technicians going at it, but the veteran Emma came out ahead without much trouble, landing an Exploder suplex and coming away with a very impressive win ahead of the tag title defense coming up later this month. Asha Nelson may have just set the tone for what's coming in the tag team title match this month. Diosa Syringa locked her in the Strangle Hold Gamma a couple of times here, trying to put Asha down with whatever she could, but Asha just kept coming... and eventually, got what she was after, trapping Syringa in an Ankle Lock and forcing the former Academy Champion to tap out. Look out, Fiona, Nana Yoon is coming for that title. This match kept things very clear: Nana went after Fiona, while Lexi and Virginia clashed most often, keeping the matchups very well separated. Nana might be poised for another run at the top if she can keep up this momentum, but we've seen how dangerous Fiona can be... Big matches coming for the live show later this month, and a potential announcement to come after that show as well... We've got Emma and Syringa defending the tag titles against Asha and Maria, and an Academy Championship defense that sees Fiona Walsh aiming to stay on top against Nana Yoon. It's gonna be a tough night for a lot of people, no doubt about it.

You've probably noticed September went by without a live show happening. Well, it got delayed to this week, which so happens to be the first Saturday of October. Go figure. Anyway, the Academy's going on a month-long hiatus due to the Grand Ascension this year, just to take a little pressure off of myself. There may be a secondary reason but we'll talk about that in November. Shelly Hotlips vs. Hikari Ueno
Brianna Tierney vs. Trish Michaels
Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee vs. Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant
Allie Katt vs. Baby Peregrine
Lexi Dawson vs. Tara Helmsley
White Hot vs. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren
Josie Wilde vs. Angela Rothenberg
Virginia Caldwell vs. Heather Wild
Asha Nelson and Maria Marella vs. Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers for the Academy Tag Team Championships
Nana Yoon vs. Fiona Walsh for the Academy Championship Opening the show this week, we see that Rule XXX will all be in singles action this time around, starting with Shelly Hotlips. She's got a tough one coming up here, with Hikari Ueno looking to perhaps start a run towards the top... but we've seen that Shelly's a solid competitor when given the chance. Trish Michaels takes center stage immediately after, as she squares off with the always-dangerous Brianna Tierney. The Irishwoman always seems to be just on the verge of a breakthrough... and this could be the catalyst she needs. But Trish has been one of Rule XXX's best from the day she arrived in the Academy... The first tag match of the night will see Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee looking to raise their stock against Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant, but the latter team have been looking better as of late, with new moves, new strategies and simply looking tougher than ever before. It'll be a tough battle for Kasey and Jessica here... Allie Katt might be the wildcard of Rule XXX, one we haven't seen quite as much of in a singles setting (not that we've seen Shelly all that much either, but hardly the point.) We'll get a look at her here against Peregrine, who continues to work her way back towards the top yet again. Finally, the leader, Tara Helmsley, finds herself up against Lexi Dawson. Tara will have to be at her best here, as she has to keep pace with Lexi, who isn't likely to make that an easy task with her agility, more than prepared to blitz Tara with that incredible speed. White Hot has been a truly impressive team as of late, despite Rei Hasegawa's struggles. Keiko Maeda has more than helped keep the team on track, but they're up against perhaps two of the most devastating talents the Academy's seen... the pure striking prowess of Vanessa Saunders, and the Swedish powerhouse that is Helena Lundgren. It's a battle of power as Josie Wilde squares off with Angela Rothenberg. Josie's been after the top spot for some time now, but continues to be pushed back... but this could be her chance, while Angela seeks to score a breakout moment in singles competition, perhaps with her eyes on the Academy Championship before long... Heather Wild might have to deal with one of the toughest matches of the night, as she's got to take on Virginia Caldwell, in a match that will determine the next challenger for the Academy Championship. If Heather can win here, she'll get the next shot at the title come November (as October's an off-month), but otherwise, Virginia will remain next in line... Asha and Maria look like they could be on the verge of a huge moment this month. They've got a shot at capturing the Academy Tag Team Championships... but they've got to beat the resident veterans to do it, as Syringa and Emma have proven to be incredibly tough as champions, and won't be easy to dethrone. Finally, Fiona Walsh once again defends her Academy Championship... this time against Nana Yoon, who's already held the title once before. Nana will absolutely be out to claim it once again, but Fiona's been maybe the most resilient champion since the Academy opened its doors... and taking her down will require everything Nana's got.

That's wrapped, and so we go to a month-long hiatus for the Academy. It'll remain as normal when we come back in November, we'll close out the year, and then... well, changes. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/760185134Youtube: youtu.be/M4-_rT1pBagQuick Results Hikari Ueno def. Shelly Hotlips Trish Michaels def. Brianna Tierney Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee def. Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant Allie Katt def. Baby Peregrine Tara Helmsley def. Lexi Dawson Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren def. White Hot Josie Wilde def. Angela Rothenberg Heather Wild def. Virginia Caldwell Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers def. Asha Nelson and Maria Marella to retain the Academy Tag Team Championships Nana Yoon def. Fiona Walsh to become the NEW Academy Champion Write-ups Things didn't start off so hot for Rule XXX, as Shelly Hotlips just couldn't get it going against Hikari Ueno, eventually getting overpowered and taking a vicious boot to the head. Hikari once again looks strong, but can she start finding her momentum? Trish Michaels got the ball rolling for the team, taking down Brianna Tierney in a hard-fought match. Too many mistakes from the Irishwoman here, leading up to Trish lining up the Heartbreaker superkick, and giving Rule XXX their first win of the night. There's simply no denying Jessica Kimblee's power, and Kasey Ryder's agility. And while Rhiannon and Melody held out as much as they could, and dished out as much punishment towards Jessica as they could, it was the teamwork of Kasey and Jessica that won the day, Kasey coming down with a big diving stomp to score a big victory. Allie Katt kept Rule XXX looking good against Baby Peregrine, enduring the string of flash pins Peregrine threw at her, and she'd eventually land a Bionic Elbow to put the match away and bring Rule XXX up to 2-1 on the night. Tara Helmsley had a tough act to follow, given how good the team had been... and as the leader, she had to keep pace. She damn well did that, although it wasn't for lack of trying by Lexi Dawson. The end of this match was a wild sprint to the end, with both women aiming to score the finish, but Tara eventually landed a crushing spinebuster to finally pick up the win. White Hot may have a rough future ahead of them. This match was tough on Rei and Keiko, with Helena and Vanessa doing as they usually do and tearing through with superior power. Keiko did her best to hold out, going for the Maeda Lock, but Vanessa would eventually pop off a Michinoku Driver, scoring a big win for her team, and one that could have major repercussions for the division. Size doesn't matter to Josie Wilde, as she absolutely plowed through Angela Rothenberg here, pushing through the German's raw power to land a crushing lariat and score another major victory. Heather Wild was not going to be outdone by her tag partner, and she was determined to line herself up to face the Academy Champion next... and she took down Virginia Caldwell after a tough fight, hitting a float-over DDT and scoring a huge win to line herself up for a title shot come November. The veterans continue to look like the most unstoppable team in the Academy, after the departure of the Yoshida Twins. Emma and Syringa are simply the best there is... but Asha and Maria certainly gave this a good shot. Emma, though, was the hero of the day, working the legs to perfection before eventually forcing a submission from Maria and retaining the tag titles. Nana Yoon is back on top again. Fiona Walsh didn't quite get the full force of her offense going here, and back-to-back Perfect-Plexes from Nana would spell the end of the match, and Fiona's reign. Still, Fiona Walsh goes down as one of the more dangerous champions the Academy's seen.

The Academy's back for November, now that the Grand Ascension has wrapped and we're back on the normal schedule. So here's this month's house show. Quick Results Hikari Ueno def. Fiona Walsh Rhiannon Banes def. Keiko Maeda Asha Nelson and Maria Marella def. The Dream City Bandits Rei Hasegawa def. Baby Peregrine Jessica Kimblee def. Angela Rothenberg Kasey Ryder def. Virginia Caldwell Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson def. Wild and Wilde Inc. Emma Travers def. Melody Bryant Brianna Tierney def. Diosa Syringa Rule XXX vs. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren went to a time limit draw... but see below Write-ups Wild intensity from our opener here, with Hikari's raw power proving just that much better tonight over Fiona's technique. A Shock Arrow package piledriver couldn't quite get the job done, but a crushing DDT off the top rope sealed the deal, giving Hikari a much-needed win. A wild brawl to the finish from these two, with Rhiannon's striking helping her bridge the size and strength gap, before she managed to land a crushing powerbomb to bring down Keiko. To be clear here, this was no random pin: Asha got a parting shot in after Maria landed a crushing Reverse DDT, and for once, that didn't interrupt Maria's intent. Still, this was every bit as crazy as the Bandits tend to be, and could've easily swung the other way... but Maria carried her team to the win here. Rei Hasegawa just continues to improve over time, with this match being a wild one with a plethora of flash pins... but Rei finally turned up the heat in the end to land the Alabaster Smasher, scoring a big win to keep White Hot in the wins column for the night. The two biggest and strongest members of the Academy clashed here, with Angela Rothenberg's raw power against Jessica Kimblee's athleticism... and Jessica would prove the better here, wearing Angela down before landing a crushing series of German suplexes to score a major victory and cement herself as perhaps one of the Academy's finest talents. Most would expect this match to be won and lost on the ground... and it certainly was, but not quite in the way one would anticipate. Virginia controlled a lot of this matchup, but Kasey, as usual, refused to go out quietly, and eventually landed a huge facebuster that led into a brutal scissors-sleeper hold, putting Virginia out and giving Kasey a major win... and perhaps the next shot at the Academy Championship if she can keep winning. One step ahead: that's the Academy Champion and her incredible partner at work, with Nana Yoon proving once again that she may very well be the pinnacle of the Academy as they brought down Wild and Wilde. This may not bode well for Heather's shot at Nana later this month... but at least Wild and Wilde can look forward to a tag title shot to close out the year as a consolation, if Heather can't come up with a win over Nana. In terms of who the Academy has seen the most improvement from over the past two years of its existence, two names come to mind: Rei Hasegawa, and Emma Travers. Emma has grown into one of the Academy's brightest stars, and she put her talent on display here, outwrestling Melody from start to finish, and eventually locking in Surgical Precision to force a fantastic submission victory. Diosa Syringa might have run into a bit of fatigue after a match with Allison Avery on the debut episode of American Frontier Wrestling... after all, that show was only two days ago. Whatever the reason, Brianna Tierney didn't hesitate to bring the fight to the tag champion, taking her down with a vicious counter Tornado DDT, scoring a win and raising her stock considerably. This... wasn't the way it was supposed to go. The hope was to get a firm #1 contender for the tag titles, but there is one simple fact about this match: if not for the 30-minute time limit hitting at just the wrong moment, Rule XXX almost certainly had this match won. And so, although this match will go down as a draw, Tara and Trish will get the title match against Syringa and Emma later this month... so Vanessa and Helena will have to wait that much longer.

Two nights away from the penultimate Academy show of 2020, with a pair of big-time championship matches. Fiona Walsh vs. Baby Peregrine
The Dream City Bandits vs. Angela Rothenberg and Brianna Tierney
Hikari Ueno vs. Asha Nelson
Melody Bryant vs. Rhiannon Banes
Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren vs. White Hot
Virginia Caldwell vs. Lexi Dawson
Jessica Kimblee vs. Josie Wilde
Maria Marella vs. Kasey Ryder
Rule XXX vs. Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa for the Academy Tag Team Championships
Heather Wild vs. Nana Yoon for the Academy Championship Starting things off, a showdown between two exceptional talents, both stars in their own right already. It's also a wild clash of styles between Fiona and Peregrine, grounded technical skill against pure lucha talent. There's no telling how this might turn out. The Dream City Bandits have been up and down since their Academy debut, but they've proven to be a threat in nearly every match they've had... and this one likely won't be any different, even as they take on the dangerous team of Angela Rothenberg and Brianna Tierney, who have a strong chance of rising back through the ranks towards the champions. Hikari Ueno has steadily made a name for herself lately, since she bulked herself up and became more of a powerhouse among the roster. Asha Nelson, meanwhile, has been a slowly-rising star, both on her own and alongside Maria Marella. Still, she's giving up quite a lot of size and strength to Hikari here... A rare sight: tag partners facing off against each other. Melody Bryant and Rhiannon Banes seem intent on testing each other, though, and this may perhaps help their team going forward. Melody's raw wrestling skill faces off against Rhiannon's more brawling-style, as they vie to come out ahead. White Hot faces maybe one of their toughest matches yet, and perhaps one of the last they'll face in the Academy, if rumors are accurate. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren have been a truly dominant team, despite their time-limit draw against Rule XXX earlier this month, a match they basically lost in the end... Virginia Caldwell could be poised to make a huge run in 2020 if all goes as expected. She's slowly become a more dangerous foe for anyone across the ring from her, and Lexi Dawson may find this one to be a tough test, as Virginia will seek to ground the high-flyer and work over her legs. Jessica Kimblee is almost certainly the biggest and toughest member of the Academy at this point, but against Josie Wilde, there may not be such a thing as a size or strength advantage. Josie's a true powerhouse, regardless of her stature, and this will likely be one of the toughest matches of the night. Maria Marella is just on the verge of another shot at the top... but standing in her way is none other than the unbelievable Kasey Ryder, who's been perhaps one of the brightest talents the Academy's seen in a very long time. It's expected that Kasey will spend a little more time with the Academy in the new year, but she's apparently got a spot on the AFW roster waiting for her when the time comes... The Academy Tag Team Championships are on the line as always, with the veteran team of Emma and Syringa set to take on Rule XXX, who earned their shot at the titles after a wild fight earlier this month against Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren. Tara and Trish are looking to claim the top prize in the Academy... but can they really pull it off? Finally, Heather Wild looks to claim the first bit of gold of her young career as she squares off with two-time champion Nana Yoon. This won't be easy: Nana's been easily one of the Academy's best ever since she arrived, and claimed the title in a dominant showing over Fiona Walsh last month, meaning Heather will simply have to be at her best if she wants to have a chance of winning this one...

The Academy's wrapped up for the month, and it was a damn fine show, overall. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/819466192Youtube: youtu.be/x59-yWZMQ9cQuick Results Fiona Walsh def. Baby Peregrine Dream City Bandits vs. Angela Rothenberg and Brianna Tierney went to a time-limit draw Hikari Ueno def. Asha Nelson Rhiannon Banes def. Melody Bryant Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren def. White Hot Virginia Caldwell def. Lexi Dawson Jessica Kimblee def. Josie Wilde Kasey Ryder def. Maria Marella Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa def. Rule XXX to retain the Academy Tag Team Championships Heather Wild def. Nana Yoon to become the NEW Academy Champion Write-ups Fiona Walsh bounced right back from a rough stretch with this win, though it took a fair bit of work to get there, with Peregrine throwing out flash pins constantly throughout the match, looking for that quick surprise victory. Fiona didn't back down, though, and her striking won the day, and the opener. Not for lack of trying, but these two teams fought clear up to the finish, with the Dream City Bandits taking charge near the end but never quite putting the match away. Asha Nelson didn't roll over for this one, giving Hikari Ueno a hell of a fight before the Japanese athlete managed to finish the job with a brutal backdrop, and tied Asha up in a technical pin just to make sure she finished the job. It's not clear what Hikari's future is yet, but it certainly looks bright for her. The battle of these two tag partners was a serious fight to the finish, but Rhiannon Banes would ultimately come out ahead, with all of her biggest moves landing in the worst possible spots... but Rhiannon's vicious powerbomb landed dead-center in the ring to give her the victory. White Hot stumbles again here, though against a team like this, it's hard not to. Vanessa Saunders was easily the lynchpin of her team tonight, dishing out some serious punishment, saving the match at one point for her team before landing a crushing Michinoku Driver to seal the win. Almost certainly the best match of the night, with Lexi Dawson staying on the move as she tried to remain a step ahead of the more methodical pace of Virginia Caldwell. Virginia, though, would eventually silence the cheerleader, catching her in a vicious kneebreaker submission, and took the hard-fought victory. Jessica Kimblee continues to show why she's Top Dog around the Academy, taking all that Josie Wilde had to offer and eventually scoring a big Kotaro Crusher to get the victory. No doubt she'll be sticking around for a while yet. Kasey Ryder made sure that she'll be in line to challenge for the Academy Championship next month with this win, though Maria Marella didn't make it easy for her. Still, Kasey once again proves why she's one of the best the Academy's ever seen, and now looks forward to her title shot. Maybe one of the best pure tag matches that the Academy's ever witnessed. Both teams were absolutely at their best in terms of teamwork, never hesitating for a second to step in when necessary, working together like two well-oiled machines. But the champions would eventually get the upper hand, and Emma Travers would lock in Surgical Precision, bringing a wild championship match to a close and keeping the veterans on top. Of the initial rookie class that entered the Academy at the beginning of its existence, Heather Wild is now the first of the lot to win Academy gold. Nana Yoon didn't hold anything back, busting out her brutal Tombstone Piledriver and trying her best to shut Heather down, but the aspiring rockstar just kept coming, eventually landing a quick float-over DDT to pick up the incredible victory and stand at the top of the Academy.

Another house show down, the last for 2020, and we're set for the big finish. Quick Results Baby Peregrine def. Brianna Tierney Helena Lundgren def. Shelly Hotlips Asha Nelson and Maria Marella def. Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant Hikari Ueno def. Allie Katt Angela Rothenberg def. Trish Michaels Fiona Walsh and Virginia Caldwell def. White Hot Tara Helmsley def. Vanessa Saunders Emma Travers def. Lexi Dawson Wild and Wilde Inc. def. Kasey Ryder and Jessica Kimblee Nana Yoon def. Diosa Syringa Write-ups Peregrine was back at her best here, enduring Brianna Tierney's attempts at finishing on the Dragon Clutch, and ultimately finishing her speed-blitz over the Irishwoman with a Small Package Bomb to score the victory. Unrefined in places, but Helena Lundgren was an absolute beast as usual here, despite some major mis-steps. Shelly didn't exactly roll over, though, giving as good as she got until Helena dropped into a mount leading to a brutal Karelin-style suplex, scoring the impressive victory. It certainly seemed like Rhiannon and Melody might coast to a fairly easy victory... but Asha and Maria turned up the heat big-time late in the match, with Asha laying in some of her biggest moves, and Maria landing a crushing Reverse DDT before locking in her F- full nelson clutch submission, once again giving her a resounding victory. Hikari Ueno very nearly made a huge mistake in this match as she tried to turn this into a brawl with Allie Katt... playing to the Rule XXX mainstay's strengths. Allie had Hikari's number through the middle part of the match, nearly wiping her out with a Bionic Elbow... and Hikari only managed to slip away with the win after landing a desperate running boot, narrowly escaping with a hard-fought victory. Trish Michaels met Angela Rothenberg's power with technique for most of this match, going for quick flash pins, slick moves that kept her in the fight mixed with the occasional submission. Only a few cheap shots, as well, though an errant stomp left Angela bleeding badly, the German having to dig deep to lock in her own submission in the center of the ring, barely managing to pull off the win. Once again, one of the Academy's most dangerous duos came out on a mission, and Fiona Walsh made damn sure her team stood tall in the end, nailing a brutal suplex to Keiko Maeda, far from where Rei Hasegawa could come to her aid. This is why Tara Helmsley's in charge. With Rule XXX having a rough night of it, Tara came out against maybe the toughest opponent they had to face yet, and she didn't back down an inch, fighting with Vanessa Saunders move-for-move, strike-for-strike... and added a little flourish to the end with a cheap shot, a superkick low-blow sealing the deal for her. Emma Travers was nothing short of ruthless here, showing absolutely no hesitation in going straight for her usual legwork... and she didn't let up until Lexi could barely stand. The moment Emma saw her efforts pay off, she went in for the kill, and Surgical Precision forced a quick tap-out. This was pure chaos from start to finish, with both teams more than determined to come out on top ahead of the Ryder vs. Wild title match that closes out the Academy's year. But it was Josie Wilde that would ultimately put this one away, backing up Heather as she landed a brutal Alabama Slam, then a Cloverleaf to force Kasey to tap out. Could the challenger be in trouble in two weeks when she faces Heather, or was Josie's presence the main reason for the champion's success tonight? This seemed like a return to form for Nana Yoon, the determined young Korean coming straight out of the gate and taking the fight to Diosa Syringa. She threw her best at Syringa, and eventually came flying clear across the ring to land a diving double stomp, picking up the win and evening the score against the tag team champions... could Nana and Lexi topple the veterans in two weeks?

Better late than never on getting the card up for the last Academy show of the year. Baby Peregrine vs. Brianna TierneyFiona Walsh vs. Helena LundgrenAsha Nelson and Maria Marella vs. The Dream City BanditsRei Hasegawa vs. Hikari UenoKeiko Maeda vs. Angela RothenbergRhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant vs. Rule XXX Virginia Caldwell vs. Josie WildeJessica Kimblee vs. Vanessa SaundersKasey Ryder vs. Heather Wild for the Academy ChampionshipNana Yoon and Lexi Dawson vs. Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers for the Academy Tag Team ChampionshipsI'm... honestly not feeling terribly up to doing full card match previews here, so let's just do a quick couple of notes instead: the final title defenses of 2020 see Kasey Ryder, who's been absolutely one of the highlights of the Academy all year, looking to take that final step and bringing home the big title. Heather Wild, meanwhile, only just captured it last month, and won't be likely to give it up without a fight. The Academy Champion will earn a match at New Year's Bash next week, though it remains to be seen what that match will be.
Capping off the Academy's year, though, will be the tag team titles, as Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers look for one more defense of the titles they've mostly dominated since the Yoshida Twins moved to Proving Ground. Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson, however, have been red-hot as a team, and could give the veterans a tough test, so keep an eye on this one... especially because Syringa will want to keep her momentum rolling as she prepares for another huge match at New Year's Bash, pertaining to her position in AFW.

That's the Academy for the new year. A ton of awesome action closed out the year in a big way. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/851261985Youtube: youtu.be/SwCK4OgBLGkQuick Results Brianna Tierney def. Baby Peregrine Helena Lundgren def. Fiona Walsh Asha Nelson and Maria Marella def. The Dream City Bandits Hikari Ueno def. Rei Hasegawa Keiko Maeda def. Angela Rothenberg Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant def. Rule XXX Virginia Caldwell def. Josie Wilde Jessica Kimblee def. Vanessa Saunders Kasey Ryder def. Heather Wild to become the NEW Academy Champion Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson def. Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers to become the NEW Academy Tag Team Champions Write-ups A seriously hot opener here, with Peregrine and Brianna going in hard from the start, nearfalls flying back and forth until Brianna finally managed to land her finisher and score the win. While Peregrine seemingly will be moving on from the Academy for the new year, she's been a fantastic presence and never disappointed. Helena Lundgren met Fiona Walsh move for move here, until she began to roar through the closing moments of the match with a series of huge suplexes, wrapping it up with a dragon suplex that saw her with a wild bridge to put the match away. Intense from the start, the Bandits held their own, but Asha Nelson simply would not be denied, going for broke late in the match when her Ankle Lock couldn't get the job done, flying off the top with a huge kick that leveled Allie Katt and secured the win. Despite the size difference between these two, Rei Hasegawa showed absolutely no fear, very nearly putting Hikari down with the Alabaster Smasher, and nearly stealing the match with a flash rana... that last move clearly put Hikari on the back foot enough that she immediately crushed Rei with the Shock Arrow package piledriver, and snapped her up in a tight pin to ensure she got the win right then and there. Keiko Maeda also found herself with a size disparity in her match, but Angela Rothenberg proved unable to shut down the vicious Keiko, who met every single display of power with one of her own. But it was Keiko's technique that won the day here, countering into a quick small package to score the win in what seems to be her final Academy match. Rhiannon Banes continues to be the lynchpin of her team with Melody, as they stood their ground against Rule XXX. Rhiannon would ultimately wipe out Tara Helmsley with a series of elbows, and Trish Michaels found herself unable to make the save in time. While matwork is Virginia Caldwell's primary strength, she showed tonight that she's still got a fairly solid striking game as well... as Josie Wilde can now attest to after Virginia's vicious combo of kicks put her away, giving Virginia another solid victory. Jessica Kimblee was a wrecking ball here, and while Vanessa Saunders managed to get some of her brutal kicks into play, her momentum was halted in a hurry by Jessica's crushing Fame, Fortune and Glory triple bomb. Kasey Ryder once again shows just how truly dangerous she is, and while Heather Wild gave this one a hell of a fight, Kasey was determined to make herself the second two-time Academy Champion in history. A huge diving stomp would put an end to this one and give Kasey a coveted spot on the New Year's Bash card. Finally, a team's risen up besides the Yoshida Twins to challenge the dominant veterans. Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson were an incredible team tonight, with cooperation working beautifully all the way through, and Nana would eventually land a Perfect-plex in just the right spot to keep Syringa from making the save, crowning new tag champions once more, only the second team to ever beat Emma and Syringa since the titles came into being. For the new year, edits that are moving on from the Academy: Baby Peregrine (I'll be picking up another Dawn rookie to take her place, to be announced soon) White Hot (Rei and Keiko are moving to Proving Ground as they're more than ready for it, being former L-Pro tag champs already) Hikari Ueno (Nothing tying her down to the Academy, she seems ready for the move to Proving Ground) Brianna Tierney and Angela Rothenberg (They seem like one of the most "ready" teams in the Academy.) More will come in to replace them, don't worry about that. We'll see what ends up happening...

The Academy's resident Welsh brawler went move-for-move with former Academy Champion Fiona Walsh, and despite an attempt by Fiona to come back with one of her signature submissions, Rhiannon had set a blistering pace, and a Superman Punch put an end to this one and kicked off 2021 with a fierce contest. Sarah Silvers, one of the six newcomers to the Academy in 2021, just might be the wildest talent we've ever witnessed arriving in the fed. She's agile, she's fast, and she's got some serious skills already... no true rookie, this one, as she weathered a storm of offense from Shelly Hotlips here, narrowly managing to kick out of Shelly's last-ditch effort and snapping off a flash roll-up to score a win in her Academy debut. A seriously back-and-forth contest that saw Allie Katt holding her ground against the Academy's latest powerhouse, Samantha Steele. With the departure of most of the Academy's biggest and strongest wrestlers, Steele enters as a major presence right from the start, though she had to work for this win, with Allie Katt nearly taking the win multiple times with her pumphandle driver, only to finally get laid out by a brutal shoulder tackle from the newcomer. If you've seen anything of the CASSANDRA rookies as of late, you're likely to have seen this duo, though not always together. Still, Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka have joined the Academy roster for 2021, and are up to their usual antics... with Jokusato's offense often going awry, and Takenaka showing that she might be the strongest woman the Academy's seen in a long time. But Rule XXX would get this one done behind Trish Michaels's Superkick, giving the brash young team the win here. Three things about Trinity Knight, the last newcomer we'd yet to see: One, that she's already a devastating arm-worker, with plenty of submissions and holds to work that limb. Two, that she's capable of using her legs to great effect, with plenty of kicks worked into her repertoire. Three, that she's got an absolutely vicious mean streak, as Virginia Caldwell quickly learned, as Trinity was a relentless force here, not letting up for a second. And while Virginia gave as good as she got, a standing Tornado DDT put the former shoot-fighter down hard enough to give Trinity an easy, cocky pinfall. Melody Bryant continues to improve, much like her partner Rhiannon, as she aims to branch out her moveset from suplexes alone to try and fit in a bit more agility. And while her diving elbow to finish this one off wasn't the most spectacular finish of the show, she did manage to show some serious improvement in her match with Y-Pac here, and could find herself on a solid path in the new year. One year into her Academy run, Vanessa Saunders finally made a big change: at least for when she's tagging with Helena Lundgren, and now owns a proper set of wrestling gear. Unfortunately for the kickboxer, it didn't quite give her the edge, as the duo were just plain outwrestled by the veteran team of Emma and Syringa... with Emma setting the stage for her partner to come flying out of the corner with a brutal submission that forced Vanessa into defeat. A good sign for the current tag champ, Lexi Dawson, as she looked very, very good against a former Academy Champion in Heather Wild. Heather, perhaps still reeling from her loss to Kasey Ryder last month, nevertheless nearly got this one with a tilt-a-whirl Stunner, but Lexi kicked out, threw herself into a rolling stomp and came back with a running SSP to pick up the win, keeping her team's momentum hot going into their title defense against Wild and Wilde Inc. When we first met Nana Yoon, so long ago, she was referred to as "The Next Best Thing". Well, at this point, she might just be the best in the entire Academy. Nana Yoon is for real, and her win against Josie Wilde here puts that into stark perspective... no matter what happens, it seems that this young Korean is simply destined to be a champion, be it the Academy Champion or tag champs alongside Lexi Dawson, she is an absolute force in an unassuming package. Far from the result a champion wants going into a title defense: and if this match was any indication, Maria Marella could be in line to make that title her own if she can line up her shots. And while it was Asha Nelson that scored the win here, Maria was a huge part of her team's victory here, working Jessica Kimblee's arms with various armbars, and landing crushing reverse DDTs on Kasey, allowing Asha to slap the Ankle Lock on and get the tapout.

Coming up Saturday night, the first Academy live show of the year, featuring the proper on-screen debuts of the newcomers we've been getting a look at over the last couple of shows. Trish Michaels vs. Asha Nelson
Trinity Knight vs. Allie Katt Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka vs. Melody Bryant and Rhiannon Banes Shelly Hotlips vs. Vanessa Saunders Y-Pac vs. Helena Lundgren Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers vs. Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh Tara Helmsley vs. Emma Travers Diosa Syringa vs. Jessica Kimblee Wild and Wilde Inc. vs. Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson for the Academy Tag Team Championships Maria Marella vs. Kasey Ryder for the Academy Championship Kicking off the night, Asha Nelson seeks to raise her stock while her tag partner challenges for the Academy Championship. Asha's done well for herself as of late, but Trish Michaels has proven to be one of the best singles stars in Rule XXX... meaning this could be a rough one for the youngest rookie on the roster.
We've got the proper live debut of Trinity Knight here, as she squares off with Allie Katt of the Dream City Bandits. Much like Hikari Ueno before her, Trinity seems likely to stay as a full-time singles wrestler... we've already gotten a couple of looks at her from Proving Ground and AFW bonus showings, but this will be her first Academy match on-screen.
Melody and Rhiannon will welcome the new CASSANDRA stars to the Academy, as Rin and Fuyuki look to make a splash in the tag division on their first live show. It's hard to tell how this one may turn out... both Melody and Rhiannon have had their ups and downs, both solo and as a team, but they'll surely be out to prove themselves against the newcomers.
Vanessa Saunders started her Academy run as seemingly one of the top talents that the Academy had seen... but since then, has settled back into a more middle-of-the-road talent. She'll aim to change that this year as she seeks Academy gold, starting right here with Shelly Hotlips... though this could easily lead to a struggle between Vanessa's team alongside Helena vs. the Dream City Bandits, and perhaps the larger Rule XXX group.
Helena, for her part, steps into the ring right after her partner, set to take on Y-Pac, the newest member of Rule XXX. Having made her debut at New Year's Bash last month, Y-Pac made an immediate impact, and now she'll be out to score a big win in an Academy ring over one of the strongest powerhouses in the Academy.
We're finally getting a look at the newest tag team in the Academy... Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers make their team debut, and it'll be one hell of a test on their first night as they square off with Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh. The duo will have to contend with some of the most dangerous submissions in the entire Academy in this one... not to mention Fiona's brutal suplexes on top of that.
Rule XXX's leader steps up against perhaps the Academy's most enduring name. Emma Travers, over the past few years, has gone from wide-eyed rookie to genuine veteran, a completely different woman than when the Academy first opened its doors... and no doubt she'll be aiming to push herself towards singles glory with a win here.
Diosa Syringa remains the other Academy veteran, a stalwart in both singles and tag rankings, and perhaps one of the most important names on the roster. But even Syringa might hesitate at this match with Jessica Kimblee, who now easily stands as the Academy's tallest, and likely strongest, member.
The Academy Tag Team Championships, won last month by Nana and Lexi, are back up for grabs, as Heather Wild seeks to reclaim gold around her waist after dropping the Academy Championship to Kasey Ryder. Wild and Wilde Inc. have been a wildly popular team since they began working together, but have yet to hold the titles... could that change this month?
Finally, Kasey Ryder stands at the top of the mountain for the second time in her Academy career. Standing across the ring from her: Maria Marella, a former Academy Champion in her own right, even if her first reign was cut short by a defense that took place just days after she won the title. Now Maria will seek that title once again, this time with the full intention of holding it for a proper reign...

First live Academy show of the new year, and we ran in the bigger arena, 'cause that's an occasion. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/885959744Youtube: youtu.be/V_eIgAXOQfAQuick Results Trish Michaels def. Asha Nelson Trinity Knight def. Allie Katt Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant def. Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka Vanessa Saunders def. Shelly Hotlips Helena Lundgren def. Y-Pac Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh def. Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers Tara Helmsley def. Emma Travers Diosa Syringa def. Jessica Kimblee Lexi Dawson and Nana Yoon def. Wild and Wilde Inc. to retain the Academy Tag Team Championships Kasey Ryder def. Maria Marella to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups Trish Michaels kicked off this show with a bang, landing multiple superkicks en route to this win, but capping it off with the full-fledged Heartbreaker out of the corner to put Asha Nelson down for good. Trinity Knight might be looking to make herself the standout of the Academy's newest faces, as she was a ruthless, relentless warrior tonight. And while Allie Katt got plenty of her powerful offense in, Trinity was focused on ripping the Rule XXX member's arm out of its socket right from the beginning, and eventually landed a flying cross armbreaker that forced Allie to tap. It's hard to deny, this was probably the biggest highlight of the night. While Rin and Fuyuki didn't get the result they were after, they sure got to show off what they're capable of against Rhiannon and Melody, and this match likely came down to just one move: whoever landed one first would probably have it. And unfortunately for them, it was Rhiannon's Superman Punch that came out first, giving the Welsh rookie the victory. Vanessa Saunders might've come out a bit too hard in this one, and she absolutely dismantled Shelly Hotlips in her usual fashion, with a series of vicious kicks that just never seemed to let up. There's rumor that Vanessa's trying to pull back from her kickboxing roots a little to try and merge into the wrestling sphere a little more, but none of that was visible here. Helena Lundgren found herself having to try and keep up with Y-Pac, but the moment she got there, it was bad news, landing a crushing brainbuster to score the win, even if it took a few tries thanks to ring position. The team debut of Steele and Silvers didn't quite end the way they'd hoped. They were a damn good team, though, mixing with each other extremely well... but Virginia Caldwell was in no mood to let the newcomers show her up, and she'd zero in on Sarah Silvers's leg, cranking it into a brutal submission and forcing the rookie to tap. With Rule XXX having a rough night outside of Trish Michaels, Tara came out with perhaps more focus than we've seen from her in a very long time. She was more than a match for one of the Academy's longest-tenured wrestlers, and she'd eventually land a Breakdown facebuster to score an incredible victory. This seemed like something of a test for Jessica Kimblee: with Diosa Syringa apparently stepping aside from her top three ranking (as she's only just lost the title), it felt like she was putting Jessica through her paces, and the Top Dawg more than seemed to prove she can hang with the best. While Syringa would ultimately win this one, it was a desperate counter pin off of Kimblee's powerbomb, leaving it in question whether Kasey Ryder has a chance against her own tag team partner... Lexi Dawson would not let Wild and Wilde Inc. take the titles that they'd fought so hard to win from Emma and Syringa. And Nana Yoon certainly was a big part of this one, as well... the champions were on top of their game, though this wasn't without some strong moments from Wild and Wilde. The closest the challengers came might've been Heather's Wheelbarrow Stunner, but Lexi would ultimately score a big-time 450 Splash, defending the titles and staying on top of the Academy for another month. Maria Marella is more than capable of holding her own against the upper echelon of the Academy. But Kasey Ryder simply would not be denied tonight, not letting Maria's flash pins and brutal submissions get the better of her. She'd ultimately snap off a big jumping facebuster, and remains the Academy Champion in a very, very hard-fought battle.

Another house show down for the Academy, and we have a solid idea of what's coming up later this month at the live show. Quick Results Trinity Knight def. Maria Marella Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka def. The Dream City Bandits Josie Wilde def. Y-Pac Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa def. Rule XXX Rhiannon Banes def. Asha Nelson Helena Lundgren def. Lexi Dawson Virginia Caldwell and Fiona Walsh def. Samantha Steele and Sarah Silvers Kasey Ryder def. Sung Moon Nana Yoon def. Vanessa Saunders Jessica Kimblee def. Melody Bryant and Heather Wild Write-ups (good lord digital dave there was no reason to shit on this so badly) Trinity was in control for most of this one, though this wasn't a fully dominant showing, as Maria was definitely able to get her shots in. Still, Trinity was firing on all cylinders for this match, landing a crushing kick out of the corner to score the win, and introducing Maria to just about every nasty trick she has in her wide arsenal short of her brutal arm submissions. Teamwork won the day here, with the Cassandra team absolutely working as a unit throughout. The Bandits were nearly as good, don't be mistaken, but Fuyuki's raw power would eventually turn the tide with a huge punch that laid out Allie Katt, and Jokusato would step in to block the save and give the team their first Academy victory. One gets the sense that these two are not likely to ever be friendly with each other, if this match was any indication. This was a flat-out brawl, with both women throwing out damn near every signature and finisher in their respective arsenals, until Josie managed to put this one away with the Whiskey Rose wheelbarrow driver. Rule XXX is more than capable of holding their own against the best that the Academy has to offer, but even that wasn't quite enough against the incredible duo that is Emma and Syringa. The undisputed top team in the Academy even after losing the titles, they were simply at their best here, and while Tara Helmsley very nearly stole the victory on numerous occasions, Emma would eventually land a huge Exploder, scoring the pinfall victory and keeping the veterans well on track to eventually take another shot at the tag titles. Rhiannon Banes just seems to be getting better with each passing month, looking more and more like a threat every time she steps into the ring. With her tag partner vying for the #1 contender spot this month, she set out on her own... and went into a hard-fought battle with Asha Nelson, fighting out of an Ankle Lock and eventually crushing her with her now-signature Fireball Bomb to pick up a major victory. Helena Lundgren is determined to make this month's Tag Team Championship match an absolute nightmare for the reigning champions... and if she performs like she did in this match, we may see the titles change hands. Lexi just could not get anything rolling against the Swedish powerhouse, and the ropes only saved her for so long before Helena landed one last crushing Karelin Lift, and now goes into the live show in two weeks looking like one of the biggest threats in the entire Academy. Surprisingly light on submission work from Fiona and Virginia this time around, more focused on pure technique and striking against the fledgling team of Steele and Silvers. It certainly paid off, though, with Samantha isolated on the opposite side of the ring, while Fiona slipped into a backslide pin, scoring the victory and halting the momentum of the newcomers for the time being. For the first time since graduating to Proving Ground, Sung Moon returned to an Academy ring to take on the current reigning Academy Champion, who found herself without an opponent for this month's house show. And Kasey Ryder did not disappoint, going face-to-face with the now-AFW star, more than holding her own and looking very much like the champion she is, finishing the match off with a Twist of Fate to score the win, and keeping her looking very, very tough ahead of her defense... but who is that defense going to be against? One underestimates or doubts Nana Yoon at their own peril. Despite Vanessa's vicious attack here, Nana was matching her move for move, refusing to back down at any point... enduring the brutal kicks from the former kickboxer, before snapping off a Perfect-plex. As we've seen before, it's easily been one of the most dangerous and devastating moves in the entire Academy, and it was no different here, giving Nana a victory once again. Jessica Kimblee would not be denied that #1 spot. Coming into this match with everything to lose, she rose to the occasion, holding strong against both Heather and Melody, allowing Melody to eliminate Heather with one of her suplexes, then quickly took command against Melody, landing a crushing missile dropkick and coming away with a big win... a win that sets her up with a shot at her own tag team partner later this month as they fight for the Academy Championship.

Coming up this Saturday, the monthly Academy show, as usual. Maria Marella vs. Sarah Silvers
Samantha Steele vs. Virginia Caldwell
Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka vs. Diosa Syringa and Emma Travers
Trinity Knight vs. Fiona Walsh
Asha Nelson vs. Trish Michaels
Melody Bryant and Rhiannon Banes vs. The Dream City Bandits
Y-Pac vs. Josie Wilde
Tara Helmsley vs. Heather Wild
Jessica Kimblee vs. Kasey Ryder for the Academy Championship
Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren vs. Lexi Dawson and Nana Yoon for the Academy Tag Team ChampionshipsThe fastest woman in the Academy steps into the ring for this month's opener, taking on Maria Marella, who's looking to bounce back from her defeat last month as she attempted to claim the Academy Championship. Stopped short by Kasey Ryder, Maria turns her attention to one of the Academy's freshest faces.
Virginia Caldwell has a big test ahead of her here: squaring off against the new resident powerhouse of the Academy in Samantha Steele. Virginia's proven to be one of the Academy's top talents despite not yet winning any gold, with her brutal submission game proving more than a match for almost anyone... but Samantha's raw power has served her well so far in the early part of her career, as well.
Fresh off their first victory at the house show earlier this month, the CASSANDRA duo are looking to stay on track... but they're also staring down the undisputed top team in the Academy, as Syringa and Emma seek to rise back to the top of the division and reclaim the tag titles for a third reign. While most would favor the veterans here, we've already seen what happens when one underestimates these two...
Trinity Knight has been perhaps one of the best talents in the Academy since her arrival: over her first three official Academy matches, she's gone undefeated, beating Virginia Caldwell, Allie Katt and Maria Marella so far... now, her sights are turned on maybe her toughest opponent yet, former Academy Champion Fiona Walsh. Fiona, for her part, has easily been one of the Academy's most dangerous names from day one... but Trinity has been unbelievably dangerous so far.
Asha Nelson seems to be slowly putting the pieces together as of late... with a few more tricks up her sleeve seemingly every time we see her in action, she's looking for a big win against one of Rule XXX's best in Trish Michaels. Trish, though, has more than proven she's capable of working at the highest level... and Asha could easily fall victim to a Heartbreaker Superkick in this one.
The Dream City Bandits continue to be one of the most recognizable Academy teams, and although their record may not suggest it, they're also one of the better teams around. Melody and Rhiannon, though, have seemingly begun to really hit their stride as a team... and a win here could put them much closer to a shot at the tag titles.
Wild and Wilde Inc. have plenty to look forward to on this show, with both Heather and Josie squaring off with members of Rule XXX. Josie takes the first matchup, against newcomer Y-Pac... and we know that Josie's a hell of a threat, a powerhouse by any stretch, and Y-Pac will need to be very careful against her...
Meanwhile, the leader, Tara Helmsley, will face off with Heather Wild, another name that's quickly been adding to her repertoire over the past few months. Heather's distinguished herself as perhaps the best of the original rookie talents (save perhaps the graduated Keiko Maeda), and Tara will have to keep her focus on this one... falling back into her usual cocky attitude won't help against a former Academy Champion.
Those working behind the scenes in the Academy tried to prevent this match from happening under the usual policy of "not having tag partners face each other". But there can be no doubt that Jessica Kimblee has earned this shot, rising up through the ranks steadily since her arrival, then plowing through a four-way matchup earlier this month. Now she turns her attention towards Kasey Ryder, her own partner, looking to claim the Academy Championship as her own.
Finally, capping off the night, the Academy Tag Team Championships take center stage... Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren are looking for their first Academy gold here against Lexi Dawson and Nana Yoon, and the hard-hitting duo will absolutely be out to bring down the high-flying champions. Nana, though, has quietly been the Academy's top talent... it's almost impossible to doubt, as a two-time Academy Champion and current reigning tag champion.

Another month down, and another show in the books for the Blackwood Academy. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/922622740Youtube: youtu.be/4_ysWiTGddEQuick Results Sarah Silvers def. Maria Marella Samantha Steele def. Virginia Caldwell Rin Jokusato and Fuyuki Takenaka def. Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa Trinity Knight def. Fiona Walsh Trish Michaels def. Asha Nelson Melody Bryant and Rhiannon Banes def. The Dream City Bandits Josie Wilde def. Y-Pac Heather Wild def. Tara Helmsley Jessica Kimblee def. Kasey Ryder to become the NEW Academy Champion Nana Yoon and Lexi Dawson def. Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren to retain the Academy Tag Team Championships Write-ups Sarah Silvers was electric early on here, and that seemed to give her the edge all throughout the match... while Maria showed some fire late, Sarah would snap off a quick neckbreaker into a Magistral, and scored the victory. This was mostly a showcase of Samantha Steele's incredible power, throwing Virginia Caldwell around the ring like a ragdoll much of the time, and the shooter never really managed to get things rolling... a crushing bearhug suplex led into a brutal Scorpion Deathlock, and Steele would get the submission victory. The Cassandra team is starting to pick up steam all of a sudden. This was a huge victory for the duo, especially for Rin Jokusato, who after blowing just about half the big moves she attempted throughout the course of the match, managed to snap Syringa up in a quick roll-up, with Emma hesitating just long enough to give the win to Rin and Fuyuki. Fiona Walsh remains one of the Academy's most dangerous members... and at times, it looked like the match would go in her favor, as she broke out nearly every big move she had to throw at Trinity Knight. But the newcomer kept her official Academy record pristine, a perfect 4-0, as she reeled off a quick tornado DDT, and ended the match with the arrogance that's quickly becoming her trademark. Easily the match of the night for just how far these two were willing to go. Trish Michaels controlled the early parts of the match, nearly putting Asha away with an early Heartbreaker superkick... but Asha turned up the heat not long after, first going for an ankle lock, and then, perhaps out of desperation, slipped into an even more brutal variant that left Trish writhing in pain on the mat. But Trish simply would not give in... hobbled but not broken, she ultimately dealt out another Heartbreaker, and despite all of Asha's efforts, the young rookie would go home with the loss. Another impressive victory for Rhiannon and Melody, with both of them firing on all cylinders... Melody's suplexes and Rhiannon's straightforward brawling proving the edge they needed over the Bandits, and a diving elbow from Melody sealed the victory deep in their own corner. A brutal showdown here, with Josie Wilde's vicious lariats proving the difference-maker despite Y-Pac's tenacity. Josie continues to show that she's one of the Academy's best and brightest, though Y-Pac lost little in defeat... holding her own against Josie for as long as she did. Tara Helmsley was in charge, it seemed... and then, something seemed to snap in Heather Wild, as she went on an absolute frenzy of offense late in the match: two wheelbarrow Stunners, and when those proved to not be enough, a pair of double-arm DDTs would seal the win, making one thing perfectly clear: Heather wants to push herself back to the top. A very, very good championship match between these two partners, but Jessica's power and athleticism proved more than a match for Kasey Ryder, who steadily got more and more reckless as the match went on, trying to keep Jessica down. It wasn't to be, and Jessica would plant the now-former champion, claiming the Academy Championship for herself. As tough as Vanessa Saunders and Helena Lundgren are, both solo and as a team, there is one thing that nobody in the Academy can ever do: and that's underestimate Nana Yoon. And while it's not certain that the challengers did that here, it was still an outcome that seemed inevitable, as Nana would rip off her signature submission, cinching it in on the much bigger Helena, and forcing the Swede to tap out, keeping the titles firmly on Lexi and Nana.
