Weird, weird night for the Academy. A very brisk show, very much unlike the usual. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/458979218Youtube: youtu.be/zV5drPITYUEQuick Results Asha Nelson def. Heather Wild Diosa Syringa and Fiona Walsh def. Leona Sterling and Christina Wagner Jessika Boom def. Maria Marella Ayako Asami def. La Corsaria (by DQ of all things!) Nana Yoon won the battle royal Rhiannon Banes def. Josie Wilde Calista Vargas def. Amber Wright Emma Travers and Baby Peregrine def. Rei Hasegawa and Keiko Maeda Iris Coleman def. Sung Moon Anna Bryant def. Katherine White to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups Bit of a rough showing for Heather here, falling short to the newer, younger rookie in Asha Nelson. Still, this is a good sign of what's to come for Asha... she's definitely looking like a threat. Asha: 3 points Heather: 2 points Typical tag team chaos, with a surprise victory by the odd couple team. Perhaps this simply proves that Leona and Christina just don't work in teams... with anyone. Syringa and Fiona: 6 points Leona and Christina: 5 points Jessika Boom was in no mood to mess around tonight. God only knows what caused this mess... Maria may need to figure out how to keep up, at this point. Jessika: 3 points Maria: 2 points Corsaria was in a very... "cheaty" mood tonight. Unfortunately, Eve Blackwood had absolutely no patience for it, and while Corsaria blasted Ayako with a discarded plank of wood, Eve ended up disqualifying her, in a first for... well, the entire Phoenix Rising organization, I think. Ayako: 3 points Corsaria: 0 points for getting DQed Nana Yoon just keeps getting better and better. She rocked this match, although Melody Bryant was a hell of a force for most of this one, too. Still, it can't be doubted: Nana's on her way up the rankings. Estrella: 3 points Melody: 4 points Tara: 5 points Nana: 6 points Exactly the match you'd expect out of these two: a hard, vicious brawl. Rhiannon eventually gained the upper hand and laid Josie out with a series of elbows, but this was a tough match to call. Rhiannon: 3 points Josie: 2 points Calista was determined to make it work tonight... specifically, her running crossbody, which she worked for most of the match. Eventually, she forced Amber down and picked up the win with it, but word is that she's preparing something much bigger in the near future to replace it... Calista: 3 points Amber: 2 points Another match, another loss for the ladies in white. With no fanclub at Rei's side, Keiko was all she had to rely on, and unfortunately they once again fell short to an admittedly stacked duo of Emma Travers and Baby Peregrine, two of the top talents in the Academy. Emma and Peregrine: 5 points Rei and Keiko: 4 points Iris Coleman was apparently in a mood tonight. Busting Sung Moon open within the first 30 seconds, she proceeded to give the Korean a vicious beating that made some question whether she was trying to be the fan favorite anymore... but Moon didn't go without a fight in the end, making it a tough one en route to Iris blasting her with a huge lariat to finish the job. Iris: 3 points Moon: 2 points Anna Bryant just keeps finding ways to slip away with the title. Despite Katherine having her number for nearly the entire match, including stealing Anna's own finisher and nearly beating her with it, Anna eventually managed to snap Katherine up for the win... and remains Academy Champion for another month. Anna: 4 points Katherine: 3 points

And we're through another Academy house show. Apologies for not getting the card up ahead of time, things have been pretty weird lately. Quick Results Maria Marella def. Melody Bryant Christina Wagner and Katherine White def. Rei Hasegawa and Keiko Maeda Ayako Asami def. Rhiannon Banes Tara Helmsley def. Heather Wild Calista Vargas def. Fiona Walsh Amber Wright and La Corsaria def. Jessika Boom and Estrella Gratis Nana Yoon def. Josie Wilde Leona Sterling def. Diosa Syringa Baby Peregrine def. Asha Nelson Anna Bryant and Emma Travers def. Iris Coleman and Sung Moon Write-ups Maria Marella finally seems to have gotten herself back on track with this win. She managed to handle a back-and-forth with Melody, but eventually landed a sharp Reverse DDT to score the pinfall, a much-needed win that moves her up in the rankings a fair bit. Maria: 3 points Melody: 2 points What looked like a total mismatch on paper turned out to be a fiercely competitive match between these two teams. While the outcome still wound up going in the favor of Katherine and Christina, Rei and Keiko gave this one their all and only fell when Keiko simply couldn't handle any more, taken out with a Frankensteiner off the top rope. Christina and Katherine: 6 points Rei and Keiko: 5 points A bit of a brawl here, with Rhiannon dishing out a lot of strikes, but Ayako continuing her usual brand of powerhouse offense, culminating in a very sudden Cutter and picking up the win. Ayako: 3 points Rhiannon: 2 points Very nearly a stunning upset for Heather Wild here, fighting out of two Cerebral Assassinations, but the Academy's rockstar got caught with a rollup and couldn't seal the win over Helmsley this time. Tara: 4 points Heather: 3 points Easily one of the most intense matches of the night, a clash of pure technique and striking ability against a flashy high-flyer. But one can never ignore Calista's surprising strength, either, a sharp backdrop scoring the win for the young Brazilian and keeping her in the hunt for an Academy Championship match in the near future. Calista: 4 points Fiona: 3 points Amber made her mother proud tonight, making great use of the familiar Triangle Scorpion to pick up the win. But Jessika and Estrella certainly made this one a fight... still, from the get-go it seemed like Amber and Corsaria had this well in hand as Corsaria nearly took this one with a huge 450 onto Jessika, which likely was the beginning of the end. Amber and Corsaria: 5 points Jessika and Estrella: 4 points Another strong candidate for match of the night here. It took a bit for Nana Yoon to find her footing, but when she did, she erupted with some huge offense: a big-time German suplex, a TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER, while Josie fired back with the Wheelbarrow Driver in response, along with a thunderous Uraken that busted the Korean wide open. Undaunted, however, Nana fought back and eventually caught Josie in a Backslide to steal the victory. Nana: 3 points Josie: 2 points Leona Sterling remains perhaps the most dangerous woman in the Academy... though for how long? A relentless submission game and some devastating strikes carried her through this, though to Syringa's credit, she held up well and nearly took this with her own submission. Still, though, the Scot comes out ahead... and while Leona looks forward, Syringa has stated her intention to remain a permanent fixture in the Academy, helping in the training of new students. Leona: 3 points Asha gave Peregrine perhaps more trouble here than anticipated, but a sudden snap Superkick from the young luchadora gave her the win, keeping her in the mix to be the next challenger for the Academy Championship. Peregrine: 3 points Asha: 2 points Is this a sign of things to come? Can anyone stop Anna Bryant as Academy Champion? Opponents they may be come the 31st, but Anna and Emma are still regular partners and reminded everyone just how well they work together, even after a series of knee strikes from Iris Coleman busted Emma open (ironically the same sort of knee strikes Sung Moon was requested to please stop doing thank you). But Anna eventually caught Sung in a flash roll-up, and once again, the champion stands tall at the end of the night... Anna and Emma: 6 points Iris and Sung: 5 points

Yeah I know it's like two days before the show this month, I'm letting myself get behind schedule.
Katherine White vs. Diosa Syringa
Maria Marella and Asha Nelson vs. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde
Melody Bryant vs. Fiona Walsh
Nana Yoon vs. Tara Helmsley
Rhiannon Banes vs. La Corsaria
Baby Peregrine and Estrella Gratis vs. Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa
Jessika Boom vs. Christina Wagner
Calista Vargas vs. Ayako Asami
Leona Sterling vs. Amber Wright
Main Event: Emma Travers vs. Sung Moon vs. Iris Coleman vs. Anna Bryant for the Academy ChampionshipAfter a frustrating defeat to Anna Bryant, Katherine White now prepares to fight her way back up the rankings. But Diosa Syringa seeks to stand in her way, and after making it clear that Syringa intends to be a gatekeeper of sorts (a permanent member of the Academy, to boot), Katherine may not find this as easy as she expects...
Maria and Asha reunite once more after a couple of shows working singles, but the team across from them looks to be one of the tougher ones they've faced. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde, a match made in hell for the Academy roster... do Maria and Asha, a seemingly odd-couple team, have what it takes to bring them down?
Melody Bryant is steadily making her way up the rankings, though there have certainly been a few stumbling points... and Fiona could very well be another one of those. We've seen flashes of the dangerous woman that Fiona could become, and this may be the night she finally starts to really show it.
Nana Yoon's #9 ranking is one that Tara Helmsley seems to have her eyes on: the cocky young woman wants to move up a few more spots by taking down the Korean rookie. But Nana's shown a lot of talent as of late, and there's no doubt that this one's got a chance of stealing the whole show.
Rhiannon Banes continues to shock the Academy by turning in win after win, although her recent loss to Ayako Asami tempered this somewhat. Still, Rhiannon may be the star of the young rookie class... and she'll get a chance to continue proving it against La Corsaria, though she can't lose focus here...
Peregrine remains the other star of the rookie class, but Estrella Gratis is steadily making her way up the ranks as well, and that can't be ignored. Their opponents, meanwhile, have come to be a solid tag team in their own right... despite not yet having a win to their names. Perhaps this will be their night?
Jessika Boom faces off with someone who has a definite size advantage over her: Christina Wagner could very well overpower the Dynamite fangirl, but there's no telling what might happen here... Jessika's shown that she can take a match anytime, anywhere.
Calista Vargas has been a pleasant surprise since her Academy debut, and could be on her way up sooner rather than later... but Ayako Asami has also been a major, major threat to anyone she steps into the ring with, and the Brazilian will need to be at her best if she wants to beat Ayako here.
Amber Wright wants to dispel the frustrations of her championship defeat... and to do that, she'll set her sights on the former champion. Leona Sterling, however, doesn't seem like the type to let anyone get in the way of her aspirations... Amber may not have enough in her to bring down the Scottish fighter.
A first for the Academy Championship: set to be defended in a 4-way match, with the top three contenders challenging Anna Bryant. Now-permanent Academy member Emma Travers has her sights set on bringing her dangerous submission game to bear... Korean Booker T fangirl Sung Moon will seek to lay out her competition as only she can... and Iris Coleman will seek to finally claim what she sees as her right. Meanwhile, at the top, Anna Bryant welcomes all three challengers... with rumors circulating that she's set to sign with Proving Ground once more, will this be the final time we see Anna in the Academy ring?

Academy shows aren't known for being short affairs, lemme tell ya. (A few people won't have points listed: this is 'cause they're already at the 150 mark and I don't intend to push 'em beyond that) Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/475229263Youtube: youtu.be/ePTRRI9LOksQuick Results Katherine White def. Diosa Syringa Heather Wild and Josie Wilde def. Asha Nelson and Maria Marella Melody Bryant def. Fiona Walsh Nana Yoon def. Tara Helmsley Rhiannon Banes def. La Corsaria Baby Peregrine and Estrella Gratis def. Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa Christina Wagner def. Jessika Boom Ayako Asami def. Calista Vargas Leona Sterling def. Amber Wright Sung Moon def. Iris Coleman, Emma Travers and Anna Bryant to become the NEW Academy Champion! Write-ups Katherine White seems bound and determined to keep herself in talks as one of the best in the Academy. Despite failing to capture the Academy Championship, a solid victory over Diosa Syringa here means she's very much still a strong contender on the roster. Katherine: 4 points Strong showing from the more established team, but it seems the Wild team just had more in the tank this time around... and Heather showed some great awareness in slipping Asha into a chokehold from behind. Heather and Josie: 4 points Maria and Asha: 3 points Melody Bryant continues to improve, month after month, and showed her progress here in a big way, suplexing Fiona almost at will before eventually locking in a harsh Boston crab to finish the job. Melody: 4 points Fiona: 3 points Easily match of the night. These two threw everything they had at each other... but it was once again, perhaps Tara's penchant for taunting that got her in trouble, and Nana was eventually able to land a big-time German that gave her the big victory. Nana: 5 points Tara: 4 points Rhiannon Banes needs to maaaaaaaaybe calm down a little bit throwing so many elbows. She pounded the everloving crap out of Corsaria here en route to a huge win, and... well, mounted elbows. Mounted elbows everywhere. Rhiannon: 4 points Corsaria: 3 points Struggles of Keiko and Rei simply continue. They couldn't seem to quite get on the same page with their teamwork tonight, and Estrella eventually took control, only to pass the final victory off to Peregrine. Peregrine and Estrella: 6 points Keiko and Rei: 5 points Pure powerhouse dominance from Christina Wagner. Christina was just a destructive force tonight, and Jessika simply couldn't get it going, despite throwing out what she could muster... but a huge running elbow about knocked Jessika's head off, and that was that. Ayako continues to look like a monster, never giving Calista a chance to get out of second gear. Which, let's be honest, really isn't the point of the Academy. C'mon. Ayako: 3 points Calista: 2 points Amber Wright is a damn fine wrestler, but up against maybe the single scariest woman in the Academy, there seemed to be only one possible result. Leona Sterling finished this one off with a sharp combination of kicks, and came away with another dominant win. Leona: 4 points One hell of a match for the championship here, with some surprises: Iris Coleman being the first one out, certainly the biggest one. Emma was the next to fall, and left Sung Moon in the ring with the reigning champion... and the Korean didn't blink. A huge Book End, and we have ourselves a new Academy Champion in SUNG MOON! Emma: 4 points Iris: 3 points

Rei Hasegawa:(In Japanese) <This is most difficult for me, but it is something that must be done. Keiko, we have not had an easy time as a tag team. And yet, it was most delightful to have someone in this dreary Academy who could speak Japanese with me. I was pleased to know somebody who understands the drudgery that this life entails. Even if you were not born to the high status that I come from, you have been pleasant to be around, and that is most appreciated. But what I must do here, is to apologize. I apologize for believing that the advantage of my birthright would be enough to provide victory. It has not been the case, if I am to be perfectly honest. For, to be a true Hasegawa, I must work to realize the gifts that I was bestowed. And it was not fair to you to be along with me as I figured that out. So, from now on, I will actually try now. I will try to be a better Hasegawa, worthy of my lofty status. I will try to be the better teammate, and maybe even a better friend. And I will even try to follow to the lessons of the trainers...if they have anything worth following. Keiko, let us both rise up, and then we can show these people why it is inevitable that when we do our best, we can make for a White Hot future.>

Full admission, I might be starting to struggle with the Academy stuff. I have no idea what the last three months of the year are gonna look like for this project: it was tough enough getting this one set up, and with the Phoenix Rising Grand Ascension going throughout next month, I can't even begin to think about what it'll do to the Academy. That said, your card for the show to be posted tomorrow: Christina Wagner vs. Katherine White
Josie Wilde vs. Tara Helmsley
Emma Travers vs. Fiona Walsh
Estrella Gratis vs. Melody Bryant
Rei Hasegawa and Keiko Maeda vs. Asha Nelson and Maria Marella
Amber Wright vs. Heather Wild
Iris Coleman vs. Leona Sterling
Ayako Asami vs. Calista Vargas vs. Rhiannon Banes vs. La Corsaria
Anna Bryant vs. Diosa Syringa
Baby Peregrine and Jessika Boom vs. Sung Moon and Nana Yoon

Well, whatever I decide to do with the Academy, here's the September house show done, anyway. Quick Results Christina Wagner def. Katherine White Tara Helmsley def. Josie Wilde Emma Travers def. Fiona Walsh Estrella Gratis def. Melody Bryant Rei Hasegawa and Keiko Maeda def. Asha Nelson and Maria Marella Amber Wright def. Heather Wild Iris Coleman def. Leona Sterling La Corsaria def. Ayako Asami, Rhiannon Banes, Calista Vargas Diosa Syringa def. Anna Bryant Baby Peregrine and Jessika Boom def. Sung Moon and Nana Yoon Write-ups Christina and Katherine kicked off this show with one hell of a fight, with Katherine trying her hardest to work Christina's arms and wearing the big woman down... but Christina was a powerhouse and a half tonight, and it showed as she eventually overpowered Katherine with a series of chokeslams, culminating in a Hercules Cutter that finally finished the job. Katherine: 2 points Josie Wilde came out swinging in this one early, landing a very, very early Tower Hacker Bomb and laying into Tara with a series of lariats throughout the match. But Helmsley was not to be outdone tonight... slowly but surely wearing Josie down, and despite getting caught up in taunting her opponent, eventually landed a Cerebral Assassination and picked up a big win. Tara: 3 points Josie: 2 points Was this one of Emma's best showings ever? She looked like a legitimate veteran here in dealing with Fiona Walsh, a relentless frenzy of legwork and strikes, with Fiona just not quite able to get a proper foothold before Emma snatched a quick roll-up victory. With Emma primed for an unexpected match on Showdown in just over a week, she may need to be exactly this good if she wants any chance of taking on Angel Leblanc. Emma: 3 points Fiona: 2 points Estrella Gratis just keeps getting better and better. Despite Melody looking like quite the budding powerhouse, Estrella was one step ahead at almost every turn... nailing quite a few leaping knees and armbars before shocking the entire Academy by delivering one of Melody's own trademark suplexes on her to score the victory. Estrella: 3 points Melody: 2 points Could it be? Have Keiko and Rei finally found their way as a team? Just a short time after an 8-man tag victory in Lightning Pro, a return to the Academy for some tag work leads to a second victory in as many days, with Rei picking up the flash victory while Keiko dealt with Maria on the other side of the ring. Rei and Keiko: 5 points Asha and Maria: 4 points As good as Heather Wild is, Amber Wright is still more experienced and seemingly the better of the two. While Heather put up one hell of a fight, giving this everything she had, trying to choke out Amber, it was that devastating rolling Stunner that finished things off, and gave Amber a very, very convincing victory. Heather: 2 points Maybe the single hardest-hitting match of the night... if not the entire Academy's history. This was a serious fight, strikes coming in hard and fast, and because of this, it favored Iris heavily... which showed by the end of the match. A huge lariat finally put the Scottish fighter down... and Iris may be making another surge towards the top, determined to put that Academy Championship around her waist before the end of the year, or at least to get one final shot before she seemingly calls it quits and moves on. Leona: 3 points La Corsaria seems poised for something huge. She tore through the field here, proving to be an absolute monster... although it was Rhiannon Banes that eliminated Ayako Asami, it was Corsaria that took control after that, first forcing Rhiannon to tap out to a vicious submission, then promptly landing a huge Shining Wizard on Calista to finish out the match. Whoever walks out of September as champion could have a tough match ahead of them. Corsaria: 5 points Rhiannon and Calista: 4 points Ayako: 2 points Is Anna Bryant still reeling from losing the Academy Championship? She gave this one her all, but Diosa Syringa seemed well in control of this match clear up to the end, staying one step ahead of Anna for pretty much the entire length. Anna had a chance to finish things off as she locked in the Anaconda Vice, but Syringa refused to tap... something Anna couldn't repeat when Syringa locked the former champion in her own submission hold. Every bit the match we expected going in. Despite Jessika and Peregrine not exactly blending terribly well as a team, they were still quite effective working alone in the ring, and wore down the Koreans over time. Chaos broke out a couple of times, but eventually, Jessika was able to lock in a Bow and Arrow on Nana Yoon, scoring the submission victory for her team... but leaving us with many, many questions going into this month's live show. Does Peregrine have what it takes to end Sung Moon's reign as champion after just one month? So, to follow this up, a few thoughts I've had on my mind the last couple of shows for the Academy, and for the project in general. Firstly, I'm standing firmly behind the decision to stop growth at 150 points total... the upper echelon of the Academy being locked there has been good for the matches thus far, and also will set them up very well as they shift up to Proving Ground, or Showdown, or wherever they might wind up (Evergreen?) Full admission, Anna Bryant wound up topping out at 160 due to her status as the "blue chip" sort of prospect, but there's a lot of factors that went into that, plus she was champion at the time.
Regarding the championship, it's gonna keep being defended as it has been, usually in singles (This month it's Sung Moon vs. Baby Peregrine, 1v1), though a few people are pretty much dropping off of the chase for it, since they're not likely to be getting another shot before the year closes out. Iris Coleman is a notable exception, but that's been her arc from day one, pretty much: Iris wants to hold that title at least once, but she still might not reach that point before the end of the year, so as a result, she may fall into the same boat as the other potential "graduates".
Speaking of "potential graduates" let's go over who's likely to be moving on at the end of the year (yes, after the December show, that's the decision I finally came to.) Right now we're looking at promoting Anna Bryant, Iris Coleman, Sung Moon, Christina Wagner, Amber Wright, and Jessika Boom... and likely by the time that 2020 rolls around, Leona Sterling and La Corsaria will almost certainly be at that point themselves, along with potentially Katherine White. You'll notice this means pretty much the entirety of the "upper echelon" is set to move on, which of course means that I'm in the process of making quite a few newcomers to replace them, newcomers that are likely to be sticking to the Academy full-time (unless popular demand says otherwise.) I've already mentioned that Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa will remain in the Academy full-time, either due to wanting to stick with the environment or simply believing they can be of more use there.
There was more rant here but I decided to dump it. It doesn't need to be here.

Live show this Saturday, as we land right in the midst of an absolutely chaotic week of championship matches for the entire Phoenix Rising organization... and of course, the Academy's no exception, since the title is defended every single month. Asha Nelson vs. Nana Yoon
Maria Marella vs. Rhiannon Banes
Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa vs. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde
Tara Helmsley vs. Estrella Gratis
Jessika Boom vs. Leona Sterling
Emma Travers vs. Fiona Walsh vs. Diosa Syringa
Iris Coleman vs. Amber Wright
Anna and Melody Bryant vs. Christina Wagner and Katherine White
La Corsaria vs. Calista Vargas
Sung Moon vs. Baby Peregrine for the Academy ChampionshipAsha Nelson goes it alone this time around, as she takes on another fellow rookie in Nana Yoon. Asha may have gotten a later start than most, but she's more than proven she's capable of holding her own... but Nana Yoon's steadily been getting better and better with every passing show.
Asha's usual partner, Maria Marella, will also be flying solo this month: she'll be taking on the Welsh brawler, Rhiannon Banes, a woman who's close to being in line for a shot at the Academy Championship herself. Rhiannon's been maybe one of the best of the best... but Maria could very easily knock Rhiannon down a fair few notches with a win here, and set herself up in a big way.
Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa continue to hone their skills as a team... and with rumors of a brand-new tag team division on the horizon (likely set to begin after the new year!) there's simply no better time for it... but they've got Heather and Josie to deal with, a Wild team without a doubt.
Tara Helmsley continues to show promise... along with quite a bit of overconfidence at times, what with all the taunting of her opponents. Estrella Gratis, meanwhile, has come a long way since her first match with the Academy... and could be on the verge of a huge breakout.
Jessika Boom faces off against maybe one of the toughest women in the Academy... fresh off of a surprise booking in the Office as part of a UCSS rules match against Ong Daengsri, a match that Leona won in her usual fashion. Jessika's going to need to stay focused here... keep her speed and skill in play and avoid being caught by the Scottish fighter.
A 3-way matchup this month, and those involved aren't right next to each other in the rankings? A shocking twist here: three women poised to remain in the Academy for the foreseeable future, with Emma Travers prepared to be fresh off of a match with Angel Leblanc at Showdown, while Fiona Walsh seeks to prove she's better than her record would suggest... and Diosa Syringa looks to prove that she could easily be the best in the Academy.
Iris Coleman remains determined to try and push herself to that top spot one last time... but Amber Wright wants to bring her crashing back down to earth. Two of the Academy's finest square off... and it could determine what happens in their final three months on the roster.
The Bryant sisters are back together once more... taking what opportunities they can to team up before Anna moves on from the Academy, they'll square off with a dangerous team in Christina Wagner and Katherine White, both of whom have been proving that they're more than ready to move up alongside Anna... while Melody, rookie that she is, is primed to show she can hang with the best.
La Corsaria and Calista Vargas are the next two in line for the Academy Championship... but there's no telling which of them will get the shot first. They'll settle it here... facing off against each other to see who challenges the winner of the main event next month.
Speaking of the main event: Sung Moon, the brand-new Academy Champion, crowned just last month... takes on the first rookie challenger for the Academy Championship since the Academy opened. Baby Peregrine has been nothing short of incredible from day one... and now, she has a chance to reach the pinnacle of the Academy, to become the Champion, to show that the rookie class has advanced far enough that they can mix it up with anyone and everyone on the roster.

Pretty crazy stuff tonight. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/487833539Youtube: youtu.be/2sfFtJ9BpYEQuick Results Nana Yoon def. Asha Nelson Maria Marella def. Rhiannon Banes Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa def. Josie Wilde and Heather Wild Tara Helmsley def. Estrella Gratis Leona Sterling def. Jessika Boom Emma Travers def. Fiona Walsh and Diosa Syringa Amber Wright def. Iris Coleman Anna and Melody Bryant def. Christina Wagner and Katherine White La Corsaria def. Calista Vargas Sung Moon def. Baby Peregrine to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups Wild opener as usual, with Asha trying her best to do some heavy legwork... but Nana Yoon would simply not be denied this time, hitting a huge diving stomp to pick up a very impressive victory. Technique ruled the day in this match, with Maria simply outplaying the brawler, eventually trapping Rhiannon in an armbar to force the tapout. Something seems to have clicked for the team of Keiko and Rei... and now, they're on a roll. Keiko wrapped this one up with her mother's signature submission... but she showed off a fair bit of her own skill as well, including a truly impressive spread of power moves. Rei was no slouch here either... and this team could be poised to have a breakout 2020 when the tag division debuts. A few missed opportunities from Estrella to put this match away led to Tara finally getting the upper hand with a quick roll-up... as far as Estrella's come, it seems she might still have some work to do with the Academy. Leona, fresh off a showcase bout at the last Lariats and Legislators (a UCSS-style victory over Ong Daengsri), kept her momentum white-hot as she absolutely dismantled Jessika Boom... despite Jessika landing a Dynamite Cutter, that was the only truly major offense she could get, getting caught in Leona's devastating Guillotine choke before taking a series of sharp kicks to seal the win. After a small mishap (that is, me forgetting I had the battle royal set to 300% for some stupid reason) this match got under way and just kept rolling along. Eventually, though, Emma was able to come out on top... taking out Diosa Syringa first, then finishing the job by locking in her Surgical Precision submission hold on Fiona Walsh to score her second victory of the week. Amber Wright quietly continues to be one of the breakout stars of the Academy. She scored the huge win over Iris Coleman here, weathering the powerhouse's array of strikes and submissions before landing her devastating Stunner to finish the job. A wild match between these two teams... but the Bryant sisters eventually pulled it off thanks to Melody, hitting a diving elbow drop to Christina and picking up the win, in one of Anna's last matches with the Academy. La Corsaria was in no mood for anything tonight... absolutely wiping out poor Calista without allowing hardly any real offense against her. Once again Corsaria finds herself at odds with Eve Blackwood... who seemed quite unhappy about the way this match unfolded. A worthy main event by any measure: Sung Moon defending her title with everything she had against a challenger who had something to prove. Both of them certainly got their wish... while Peregrine didn't come away with the Academy Championship, she held her own against one of the Academy's best, and no doubt she'll make her way to the top once again very soon.

Regarding the Academy stuff this month: I've made the decision to not run the house show, instead taking the time I would've spent on that to continue my work on what's left of the Grand Ascension tournament. Also due to the way that the month has shaken out, the October live show will happen... but not actually in October, as the night that I'd normally run it is taken up by Night 7 of the tournament.
Thus, the live show will happen on November 2, headlined by La Corsaria taking on Sung Moon... which, with any luck, won't be nearly the squash disaster that Corsaria's match last month was. I'll figure out how the last two months are gonna go here soon. As it goes I might just put the Academy on hiatus until the new year and the roster refresh.

So uh, yeah. The tournament kinda threw everything that wasn't the tournament (and a single Evergreen episode) into absolute chaos, and I'm still kind of gathering my thoughts here. I'm just gonna drop the card here for now. Show's on Saturday, yes I know it's NOVEMBER by then, and hopefully we'll be clear for the last two months of this Academy season, before the top of the heap moves on and some new blood rolls into town. Small note: every tag team listed on this card except for Katherine/Fiona is gonna be part of the upcoming tag team division, starting up next year. Yes, that's right... we're getting an EARLY DEBUT from Tara Helmsley's true partner... Trish Michaels. God help us all. Tara Helmsley and Trish Michaels vs. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde Jessika Boom vs. Baby Peregrine Calista Vargas vs. Nana Yoon Maria Marella and Asha Nelson vs. Katherine White and Fiona Walsh Anna Bryant vs. Diosa Syringa Amber Wright vs. Leona Sterling Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa vs. Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant Emma Travers vs. Christina Wagner Iris Coleman vs. Estrella Gratis La Corsaria vs. Sung Moon for the Academy Championship

The unusually long lay-off and slight delay into November certainly didn't show on most of this card... this might've been one of the best Academy shows yet. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/503285170Youtube: youtu.be/-Ygk6gKCtlcQuick Results Tara Helmsley and Trish Michaels def. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde Baby Peregrine def. Jessika Boom Calista Vargas def. Nana Yoon Asha Nelson and Maria Marella def. Katherine White and Fiona Walsh Anna Bryant def. Diosa Syringa Amber Wright def. Leona Sterling Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa def. Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant Emma Travers def. Christina Wagner Iris Coleman def. Estrella Gratis La Corsaria def. Sung Moon to become the NEW Blackwood Academy Champion Write-ups Quite the opener here, and showcased everything that Tara Helmsley has become known for... including a repeated series of taunts that seemed to go on forever. Eventually, though, it would be the newcomer that picked up the win... Trish Michaels hitting a big diving elbow drop to finish things off. Every bit as fast-paced and intense as expected, with Peregrine once again showing just how talented she truly is, picking up a win that you'd be hard-pressed to call an upset. A huge superkick sealed this one for Peregrine, and it seems like only a matter of time before she rises to the top again. Nana gave it her all, without a doubt, but Calista refused to stumble this close to her shot at the Academy Championship... still, she had to slip away with a close victory here, getting a backslide to narrowly escape over the Korean. Maybe one of the best showings that Asha and Maria have had so far, enduring everything that Katherine and Fiona had to throw their way, with Asha eventually nailing a cutter on Katherine to pick up a much-needed win. Anna Bryant continues to prove that her future is truly bright. In one of her final Academy matches, she handled Syringa without much trouble. Amber Wright can't ever be counted out. Even after being bloodied by Leona's vicious strikes, Amber never gave in... eventually hitting a huge rolling stunner for a nearfall, then snapping Leona up in a counter-pin when she attempted to slip behind. There can be no doubt that Keiko and Rei are a completely different team now than when they first joined together. Keiko was a force in this match, eventually forcing a submission to her signature leg submission... no doubt Yuki can now beam with pride at her daughter's progress. Emma Travers just keeps impressing. While she's intending to stay with the Academy, she nevertheless was electric here, wearing Christina down slowly but surely, before forcing the German-Canadian to submit, leaving the usually-stoic Wagner writhing on the mats. A mismatch on paper turned into one of the longest matches of the night... with Iris failing to seize her chances, and Estrella seemingly out to do as much damage as possible, it took Iris finally locking in her Triangle Lancer to put this one to rest. The champion just seemed to falter in this one... after a hot start, Sung Moon trailed off, and Corsaria took command, absolutely ripping into the Korean and eventually landing a huge 0-5-4 to pick up the win, and the Academy Championship.

I got a house show for you, and this month, I've got a little surprise... First thing's first: do click this link and watch what unfolds, if you would? youtu.be/TAZ9uPgRyt0Quick Results The Yoshida Twins def. Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa (!) Anna Bryant def. Sung Moon Maria Marella def. Trish Michaels Tara Helmsley def. Asha Nelson Katherine White def. Heather Wild, Leona Sterling and Christina Wagner Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa def. Nana Yoon and Baby Peregrine Iris Coleman def. Josie Wilde Fiona Walsh def. Melody Bryant Rhiannon Banes def. Estrella Gratis La Corsaria and Amber Wright def. Calista Vargas and Jessika Boom Write-ups Nobody could've possible imagined this might happen. The scheduled match was Emma Travers vs. Diosa Syringa... instead, the Yoshida Twins made their way to the ring, and after some brief confusion, this turned into a tag match... one that the twins more than held their own, and ultimately managed to win. The twins weren't due to debut in the Academy until January... but it seems they weren't willing to wait. Luckily, the cameras were rolling on this one, and if nothing else, there can be no doubt this was one of the best matches of the entire show... the Yoshida twins clearly have a bright future ahead of them despite their... attitudes. Pure ferocity from two of the Academy's best. Sung Moon was relentless in her attack here, but Anna was a methodical machine, eventually forcing a submission with the familiar Anaconda Vice, keeping her momentum strong as she wraps up her time with the Academy. Let there be no doubt that Maria Marella isn't just coasting on her tag team success here in the Academy. She weathered everything Trish Michaels had to throw at her, eventually rocking the newcomer with a number of brutal Reverse DDTs, and picked up one hell of a victory. Tara Helmsley was clearly in no mood to mess around with Miss Nelson here... easily enduring the young rookie's ankle locks and absolutely wiping her out with a pair of Cerebral Assassinations, giving Tara one of the more dominant victories of the day. Head referee and trainer Eve Blackwood took a nasty bump during the previous match, so Shiana Sentarl stepped in for this and the following match, though stepped aside to allow Eve to return to the ring after that. Katherine White might already be more than the equal of her older sister. With the biggest threat in Leona Sterling targeted early and taken out first, the match became quite the toss-up... and Katherine quickly seized her chance, first catching Heather Wild in a rolling armbar, then finally catching Christina with another submission to pick up the shocking win. This is definitely not the same team from six months ago. Keiko Maeda and Rei Hasegawa could be front-runners for the upcoming tag team division, and this match displayed exactly why: Keiko's raw power and Rei's impressive agility carrying them against two of the top rookies in the Academy. Separately, Keiko and Rei are fairly solid... but together, anymore, they could be the best duo in the entire Academy. With Iris Coleman's stated destination being Evergreen Wrestling, I would not want to be the one that gets in her way when she arrives... and Josie Wilde certainly learned that lesson here, with Iris shrugging off everything she had to throw almost effortlessly en route to a truly dominant victory. Melody's raw power wound up not being a match for Fiona's technique here. Fiona fended off Melody's submissions (if not her suplexes) and finished by adding insult to injury... and while the Anaconda Vice is certainly part of Fiona's own arsenal, it still has to hurt losing to the hold that Melody's sister also utilizes so well. New look, but not the result Estrella Gratis was hoping for as Rhiannon Banes weathered a storm of kicks and armbars to lay the young woman out with a series of elbows. Rhiannon remains one of the brightest stars, and could be looking to claim a top spot when the rankings are reset for the new year. This could be bad news for Calista's challenge later this month. Corsaria and Amber were impressive as a team despite not being familiar with each other, and Calista never quite seemed to get things going alongside Jessika... can the Brazilian figure things out as she challenges for the Academy Championship?
