Very solid show tonight, a fair few matches impressed a LOT, so it's going to be interesting to see who ends up getting that next shot at the Academy Championship... Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/385828823Youtube: youtu.be/Zf4mmq7HlXwQuick Results Rhiannon Banes and Melody Bryant def. Maria Marella and Keiko Maeda Ayako Asami def. Nana Yoon Heather Wild def. Baby Peregrine Jessika Boom def. Alena Ramsey Tara Helmsley def. Vivian Forester Emma Travers and Rilantha De Nav def. Amber and Winifred Wright Iris Coleman def. Fiona Walsh Christina Wagner def. Sung Moon Anna Bryant def. Rei Hasegawa Leona Sterling def. Katherine White to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups Strong opener that saw a solid amount of offense from everyone involved... but it'd be Rhiannon Banes putting this one away with her figure-four neck-lock, forcing the tapout from Maria Marella. Keiko Maeda still has yet to pick up a win... how long can this streak last? Rhiannon and Melody: 4 points Keiko and Maria: 3 points A test for Nana Yoon... a stronger opponent than most of the rookie crop, but the young Korean put forth a heroic effort against Ayako Asami, despite eventually going down in defeat. Nana continues to show why she's one of the best of the rookies in the Academy... she's got a bright future ahead of her, no doubt. Ayako: 3 points Nana: 2 points Baby Peregrine's winning streak comes to an abrupt end as Heather Wild surprisingly managed to outplay the young luchadora. Heather's already clearly got her future set: she even told the techs ahead of time what music to play for her if and when she won. What exactly is she planning for the March show? Heather: 4 points Peregrine: 3 points Can't expect anything less from the two best high-flyers the Academy has right now. Jessika and Alena kept this one fast and furious, but it was Jessika that took the win home after a thunderous moonsault that gave her a big win. Jessika: 3 points Alena: 2 points Tara's attitude nearly got her into trouble again tonight... but whether it was Vivian's focus slipping, or Tara getting under her skin, Vivian seemed to completely lose it near the end of the match... and Tara landed her finisher, once again taking down the woman that most considered the biggest star of the Academy when it opened its doors. Tara: 5 points Vivian: 4 points The trainers certainly didn't overshadow their students here: Emma and Amber more than held their own with the older veterans, and impressed in their own right. Emma would also ultimately be the one to score the victory with her Surgical Precision hold, forcing Amber to tap out, but nobody has anything to be upset over after this match... this was one of the best of the night. Emma: 6 points Amber: 5 points There might've been some bad blood between these two going into the match... it certainly felt that way, as Fiona Walsh busted Iris open in the opening moments, forcing the Wrecking Ball to play catch-up for a lot of the match. Iris, however, ultimately would return the favor by blasting Fiona open with a series of knees, and finally would put her down with a crushing lariat. Still, the Academy would prefer for these sorts of bloodbaths to not occur at all... and both women were informed as much, to try and not let it happen again in the future. Iris: 3 points Fiona: 2 points This was just an extended squash, in all honesty. Sung Moon simply couldn't get out of the starting gates, and Christina Wagner absolutely ran through her, utterly dominating the young Korean. Christina could be on her way to another shot at the champion at this rate... but the house show next month will determine whether she deserves it. Christina: 3 points Sung: 2 points Rei Hasegawa finally brought her entourage to the show this month: her "fan club" was at ringside against Anna Bryant, and Saburo Aoki Jr. would make his presence felt late in the match, much to referee Shiana Sentarl's chagrin. Anna, however, didn't seem fazed by the interference... she'd ultimately land her trainer's finisher, pinning Rei and scoring a victory, while her two fans looked on... perhaps too afraid to step in a second time after Shiana told them off. Anna: 4 points Rei: 3 points Katherine did what she could... trying to make lightning strike twice against the Scottish fighter. But Leona was not going to be fooled again... she was ready for this rematch. A Guillotine was answered by Katherine's Mexican Stretch... but it was very clear that Leona had gotten the better of Katherine, and a second Guillotine forced an almost immediate tap-out, keeping the Academy Championship firmly around Leona Sterling's waist for another month. Leona: 3 points Katherine: 2 points Iris Coleman "You wanna go in there and let the blood flow, you're crossing the wrong woman. I got more than what it takes to get into a bloody brawl, and you know after tonight that I can return the favor in spades. Yeah, they told us not to do it again, but y'know what? Fiona Walsh might've just given me some kind of answer to where I wanna take this shit once I'm done with the Academy... we'll see what the future holds. But you better keep your eyes open... 'cause the Wrecking Ball is set to take over, no matter where I find myself."

A big house show coming up next Tuesday, March 12, ahead of the big live show on the 30th. The live show will include the new characters and looks for the local rookie class (Heather Wild, Melody Bryant, Rhiannon Banes and Keiko Maeda), along with taking place in the very same building that Phoenix Rising operates out of. But first, the Academy Dojo will see this card in a non-televised show: Estrella Gratis vs. Keiko Maeda
Maria Marella and Heather Wild vs. Baby Peregrine and Rhiannon Banes
Josie Wilde vs. Melody Bryant
Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley vs. Ayako Asami and Sung Moon
Rei Hasegawa vs. Nana Yoon
Iris Coleman vs. Christina Wagner
Vivian Forester and Emma Travers vs. Amber Wright and Katherine White
Fiona Walsh vs. Jessika Boom
Leona Sterling vs. Anna BryantEstrella Gratis makes her debut on this show, coming north of the border from her home in Mexico, seeking to make a name for herself in the Academy. Her debut match will be against the struggling Keiko Maeda... can Keiko finally figure things out ahead of the live show, or will she falter yet again in the face of new blood? (Estrella Gratis comes from an edit-maker outside of C!C but has been in streams in the past, hence her inclusion.)
It's a big rookie tag, once again: Maria Marella and Heather Wild team up to take on Baby Peregrine and Rhiannon Banes. It seems that Rhiannon and Heather are somewhat at odds lately... but they won't fully get a chance to focus on each other, not with the young prodigy that is Maria, and the quickly-rising star that is Peregrine both being involved.
Another big debut on this show: Josie Wilde comes to the Academy as well to take on Melody Bryant. We don't know a lot about Josie just yet... but we're sure to find out what she's made of as she takes on the young suplex specialist.
Alena Ramsey teams up with an unlikely ally in Tara Helmsley... a team with an ego that may very well eclipse the Academy Dojo itself. Their opponents: Ayako Asami and Sung Moon, two women who have already faced each other in the past, and now team up to face this arrogant duo.
Rei Hasegawa fell short against Anna Bryant at last month's live show, but she'll try to get herself back on track against Nana Yoon. Yoon is a rookie normally in the opening part of the card, but she'll get a major chance to show her stuff against Rei here... if she can keep up.
This match last occurred in the inaugural tournament, and was one of the best matches of the entire bracket. Now, Iris Coleman and Christina Wagner clash a second time, in what could prove to determine who challenges Academy Champion at the live event... though if Anna Bryant wins on this show, then someone will be left waiting in the wings.
Vivian Forester has struggled to find her footing since coming to the Academy, but she'll team up with Emma Travers, one of the star students of trainer Rilantha De Nav. The duo won't have it easy, though, as they'll be taking on Amber Wright and Katherine White... both of whom have shown a lot of promise in their time with the Academy.
Fiona Walsh has been a strong presence as of late, but has found herself falling short more often than not. Jessika Boom, meanwhile, seems to be only getting better every show... can the striker keep up with the high-flying Dynamite fangirl?
This match was bound to happen sooner or later. Leona Sterling, the Academy Champion, now has the star student of the entire Academy coming for her... and Anna Bryant seems dead-set on claiming that championship for herself. Leona, however, has been an absolute force of nature... does Anna have what it takes to finally topple the reigning champion?

The March house show is all set. This month sees the debut of two new women into the Academy... Quick Results Keiko Maeda def. Estrella Gratis Rhiannon Banes and Baby Peregrine def. Heather Wild and Maria Marella Josie Wilde def. Melody Bryant Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley def. Ayako Asami and Sung Moon Rei Hasegawa def. Nana Yoon Christina Wagner def. Iris Coleman Katherine White and Amber Wright def. Vivian Forester and Emma Travers Jessika Boom def. Fiona Walsh Leona Sterling def. Anna Bryant Write-ups It took some new blood to make it happen, but Keiko Maeda is finally in the wins column for the first time, taking down newcomer Estrella Gratis in the young Mexican's first match. Still, Keiko didn't have an outright easy time of it here, running into trouble on a couple of occasions, although Keiko was able to lock in a new submission (taught to her by her famous mother, Yuki), and landed her crushing powerbomb finisher to pick up that elusive victory. Perhaps now Keiko will finally have put her struggles behind her, and will start to live up to her potential? Keiko - 4 points Estrella - 3 points Much as Heather and Rhiannon already seem to be showing signs of their upcoming character evolution, this one ended in surprising fashion. Heather and Rhiannon definitely seemed to have some sort of bad blood here, as Heather chased the young Welsh rookie to the apron and knocked her off with a sharp elbow, but Rhiannon would get the last laugh: backed by the impressive lucha offense of Baby Peregrine, she'd score a stunning roll-up victory on Heather, leaving the would-be rockstar frustrated once again... and Maria Marella left questioning whether she can ever find a reliable partner. Rhiannon and Peregrine - 4 points Heather and Maria - 3 points Melody Bryant didn't seem fully prepared for the newcomer in this one. Josie Wilde came into the Academy with quite the attitude, and for most of this match, she had Melody's number, overpowering her for nearly the entire match, save a brief glimmer of hope when Melody appeared to wake up and began throwing Josie around the ring with an impressive series of suplexes. But Josie quickly fired back, slamming Melody down harshly and locking in the Cloverleaf, forcing Melody to tap out and giving Josie the win in her Academy debut. Josie - 3 points Melody - 2 points This match was absolute chaos from the bell. All four women were out to prove something here, and everyone had their chance to shine: both teams even both threw out some beautiful teamwork, with Ayako and Sung both delivering shots to Tara Helmsley in the corner simultaneously, only for Ayako to catch both a Helmsley lariat and a Ramsey Shining Wizard just moments later. It'd eventually be Alena that put this one away, though, hitting her big facebuster on Sung Moon, while Tara ran interference... and that was all they needed to put this one away, though Ayako took a quick shot at Tara after the bell, kicking the young woman's knee out, perhaps out of frustration at the defeat. Alena and Tara - 6 points Ayako and Sung - 5 points A very, very impressive showing by both sides here: Nana Yoon, despite being a much greener rookie than even Rei Hasegawa, held her own, while Rei didn't even need the support of her fanclub this time around... not that either seemed eager to cross referee Shiana Sentarl after the last incident. This win, though, will no doubt strengthen Rei's ego... because as strong as Yoon looked against her, Rei won this match convincingly, and will surely want tougher fare at the live show this month... and she may get exactly what she's wishing for, but perhaps not in the way she'll be hoping. Rei - 4 points Nana - 3 points The rematch between these two ended much the same way as the first: with Christina Wagner standing tall over Iris Coleman. This was no less vicious than the match they had in the tournament, though, with both women trading their most brutal moves, back and forth right up to the finish. Iris landed a number of crushing lariats and nearly choked Christina out, but Wagner would finally fire back with a huge chokeslam, and put this match to rest, perhaps setting her up for another rematch... this one with the woman who defeated her in the tournament final. Could it be time for her to take her place at the top of the Academy? Christina - 4 points Iris - 3 points Quick tags and a lot of double-teaming were the order of the day for these two teams, with Vivian and Emma trying to keep their opponents grounded, while Katherine and Amber continued to keep a relentless pace. Vivian seemed to be the most dangerous woman in this match, but it was Amber that'd eventually take the win here, punishing a late mistake by Emma and rolling her up for a victory that left Vivian and Emma stunned. Katherine and Amber - 6 points Vivian and Emma - 5 points Fiona seemed to have Jessika scouted well for this match... dodging out of the way of much of her fast-paced offense, forcing mistakes all the while. But Jessika simply wouldn't be denied here. She stayed on target, wearing Fiona down while enduring her offense, and the tide seemed to turn after she landed a big moonsault... gaining a lot more air than in her earlier matches. One Dynamite Cutter later, Jessika finally came back to win the match. Jessika - 3 points Fiona - 2 points A tale of two styles, with Anna bringing her deep technical skills to bear, aiming for quick flash pins mixed in with her usual offense, against Leona's vicious striking and submission game. The Academy Champion steadily pulled ahead, though, her strikes wearing Anna down, locking her in multiple submission holds before landing a nasty series of strikes that finally laid Anna out for the pinfall. The Academy Champion stands tall yet again, and now appears to be on a collision course with the very same woman she defeated in the inaugural tournament: Christina Wagner will almost certainly be her next challenger. Leona - 4 points Anna - 3 points After the show, Rei Hasegawa was offered a special opportunity: with all her talk as of late of her skills, and of her superiority, she would be granted a special match against one of the Academy trainers... but the Academy has yet to declare just which one she'll be facing at the March live show, taking place on the 30th. Christina Wagner, as well, has been given the next opportunity against Academy Champion Leona Sterling at that same show, and the rookie class will be debuting their new characters on that night. This month is shaping up to be a big one for the Blackwood Academy...

Rei Hasegawa:(In Japanese) <Have I not proven enough already? What is it that you wish for me to do before I can go back to civilization? I have proven that I am truly "White Hot" time and time again. No need for any of this foolish "training" anymore.>
Rei: <But now, I have been notified that the unprofessional commoners to whom I am entrusted are wishing to compete with me. It is my understanding that they are to select among themselves who I am to face. But that simply will not do. No, people such as myself must not wait on the mercy of their inferiors. Instead, I wish to tell the incompetent individuals around here that I will not stand by while such people attempt to tell me, me what I have to do! No, they will listen and obey the words of a Hasegawa.>
Rei: <As such, I wish to let the trainers know that I shall select the one woman who has been such a terrible referee for my matches. The one who has needlessly and rudely harassed my Sparks and made them feel very unwelcome at ringside. I regret to say that I did not know her name, but someone has told me that she is known as Shiana Sentarl. That is the one I will compete with.>

Maria Marella: Incompetent fools! No wonder I'm in a losing slump, its not because of me, the genius who can single-handedly take down each and every one of these tag teams by myself, its those blithering idiots called my "tag team partners" that are holding me down! None of these girls have the abilities or the mental class to keep up with someone who's both physically and intellectually superior! If any of these so-called "tag team partners" think they could be able to work with someone like me, then they're 100% wrong in every conceivable aspect, and I'll show it to them when I step in the ring with them.

We're just about a week and a half off from the March Academy live show, which will be taking place in the very same building that Phoenix Rising runs in every Monday... yes, that's right, there's gonna be ENTRANCES this month, instead of just running out of the Dojo. Rhiannon Banes vs. Heather Wild
Keiko Maeda vs. Melody Bryant
Nana Yoon vs. Baby Peregrine vs. Josie Wilde
Maria Marella vs. Estrella Gratis
Anna Bryant and Emma Travers vs. Tara Helmsley and Alena Ramsey
Iris Coleman vs. Amber Wright
Diosa Syringa (formerly Vivian Forester) vs. Katherine White
Jessika Boom and Fiona Walsh vs. Sung Moon and Ayako Asami
Rei Hasegawa vs. Shiana Sentarl
Main Event: Christina Wagner vs. Leona Sterling for the Academy Championship Rhiannon Banes and Heather Wild haven't gotten along particularly well from day one. This month, they go at each other in singles action for the first time ever, and both of them will be sporting new looks, new attitudes, and new moves that they've picked up over the past three months of training... but who will come out ahead?
While Melody Bryant got a slightly later start than the other rookies in her class, she's kept up with them admirably. Keiko Maeda, meanwhile, has struggled to find a foothold in the Academy since she began... but after picking up her first victory earlier this month, could she finally be turning the corner with the help of her veteran mother?
With the situation this month being what it is, the Academy had to schedule its first-ever three-way matchup... and they've opted to go with two of the best rookies alongside the newest addition to the roster. Nana Yoon and Baby Peregrine have both been extremely impressive, and Josie Wilde debuted in dominant fashion earlier in March at the house show... but only one of these three can stand as the winner. (This match will award points as though it were a tag match, but the first wrestler eliminated will only get points based on how long they were in the match.)
Maria Marella has been tied up in tag matches quite a bit as of late... and hasn't found much success, either. But now she finally gets an opportunity to prove that she's better than the recent losing streak will suggest, as she steps into the ring with fellow rookie Estrella Gratis, one-on-one. Estrella made her debut earlier this month as well, and while she fell in defeat to Keiko Maeda, she showed quite the spark...
The students of Rilantha De Nav team up to take on a makeshift team that made quite a splash at this month's house show. Emma Travers and Anna Bryant will take on the odd couple team of Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley, who scored a big win previously... and it's made Alena think there might be something to this potential alliance, at least for now.
Iris Coleman remains just on the cusp of being one of the Academy's biggest stars, but continues to fall just short of the biggest prizes. Still, she'll be looking to bounce back against Amber Wright... who will be working alone this month, but could very easily continue to be a threat even against the Wrecking Ball.
Vivian Forester never really figured out who she was. She wore a mask, but continued to work under her real name... until now. Finally dubbing herself "Diosa Syringa", evoking the image of a lilac, she's now set for a new beginning against Katherine White. But a new name alone won't be enough to turn things around... will she bring something new to the table?
Quite the odd team assembled this month as Jessika Boom joins forces with Fiona Walsh, aiming to take on Sung Moon and Ayako Asami, whose last outing ended in defeat... still, there were definite flashes of teamwork between the two, which could be more than Jessika and Fiona might be able to do. Can these two manage to cooperate?
Rei Hasegawa made a definite statement earlier this month when the Academy told her she'd be facing off against one of the trainers at the live show... and she immediately came out to challenge Shiana Sentarl outright, surely due to Shiana's treatment of her fan club while she was refereeing in place of Eve Blackwood. Shiana, however, is sure to show the young Japanese rookie just what she's gotten herself into...
Once again, Christina Wagner finds herself across the ring from Academy Champion Leona Sterling. These two met in the tournament final three months ago, and Leona came out the winner to become the Academy's first champion... but both women have come a fair way from three months ago, and Christina is looking for a measure of revenge, and the title. It's going to be a headlining match without a doubt...

A lot happening for the first Academy show outside of the dojo, so let's take a look at how it went down. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/403894202Youtube: youtu.be/T_Vbv3-WSxYQuick Results Heather Wild def. Rhiannon Banes Melody Bryant def. Keiko Maeda Josie Wilde def. Nana Yoon and Baby Peregrine Maria Marella def. Estrella Gratis Anna Bryant and Emma Travers def. Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley Iris Coleman def. Amber Wright Katherine White def. Diosa Syringa Sung Moon and Ayako Asami def. Jessika Boom and Fiona Walsh Shiana Sentarl def. Rei Hasegawa Leona Sterling def. Christina Wagner to retain the Academy Championship Write-ups A strong opener from the rookies here, showing off their new gear, new looks, new moves... Heather Wild continues to show she might be a step ahead of the rest, taking down Rhiannon Banes with a double-arm DDT. Heather Wild: 3 points Rhiannon Banes: 2 points Melody Bryant, perhaps seeking to emulate the suplex masters of Phoenix Rising, sported gear reminiscent of Mallory Spaulding and won her match like Mallory, too. A huge German Suplex put Keiko down, but not before she showed the influence from her mother Yuki. There's a ton of potential in both of these women, for sure... Melody Bryant: 3 points Keiko Maeda: 2 points Bit of a trainwreck of mistakes here... Peregrine's update somehow didn't reach the Academy properly, and Josie Wilde laid out Nana Yoon with a piledriver of sorts. Nana should be fine for the next house show, but steps are being taken to ensure that none of these mistakes are repeated. (Crits were left on by mistake from the last time I used battle royal... on Thursday's Evergreen show. Whoops.) Josie Wilde: 4 points Baby Peregrine and Nana Yoon: 3 points Maria's bold words ahead of this show were ones she'd need to back up in the ring... but she certainly did that, enduring Estrella Gratis's offense and landing a harsh reverse DDT to pick up the win, following it up with a couple of quick cartwheels... oddly enough, the very same thing Melody Bryant did after her win. Maria Marella: 4 points Estrella Gratis: 3 points The students of Rilantha De Nav made their teacher proud tonight, picking up a hard-fought, chaotic victory. Anna Bryant's confidence is slowly building... she no longer looked surprised at picking up the win here tonight, landing her Small Package Bomb and picking up the win on Tara Helmsley. Anna Bryant and Emma Travers: 4 points Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley: 3 points Iris Coleman continues to impress, outpacing Amber Wright without meeting much trouble in the process. Already, rumors are spreading that Iris could be on the fast-track to Phoenix Rising... but she wouldn't be the only one. Iris Coleman: 3 points Amber Wright: 2 points New name, same old struggles... while Vivian Forester has changed her ring name, she's still struggling to get any footing in the Academy, dropping a tough one to Katherine White, who seems to have changed her focus a bit. She seemed a lot more grounded... perhaps preparing to become something of a submission expert? Katherine White: 4 points Diosa Syringa: 3 points The longest match of the night, and a crazy, intense one that made everyone shine. Sung Moon, though, would take the initiative, and landed a Book End on Fiona Walsh to finish things off, once again standing tall and giving the crowd the Spinaroonie they were after. Sung Moon and Ayako Asami: 5 points Jessika Boom and Fiona Walsh: 4 points Maria Marella ran her mouth and was able to back it up... Rei Hasegawa did the same, but chose the wrong person to mouth off to. Shiana Sentarl, perhaps reminded far too much of her hated rival, Angel Leblanc, didn't show the young rookie any mercy, nearly laying her out with her signature Superkick before planting her with a sharp piledriver, all in record time. It seems this is what happens when Shiana is pushed too far... arrogance and disrespect appear to be her most hated qualities. Rei Hasegawa: 2 points Leona Sterling has been easily the most dominant woman in the Academy from day one... and she did nothing to change that perception tonight, as she absolutely ran roughshod over Christina Wagner once again. Without even bringing her dangerous mounted game into play, she picked Christina apart, and while the German-Canadian got a few choice moves in, Leona was 100% in charge of the pace here, and forced Christina to tap out to a shoulder hold, continuing her championship reign almost effortlessly. Leona Sterling: 3 points Christina Wagner: 2 points Leona Sterling "Do you get it yet? That nobody around here's got what it takes? Not Iris Coleman, not Christina Wagner, not Anna Bryant, NONE OF YOU. But keep coming at me as long as you want. This title stays with me until someone figures out how to beat me... and considering what I've seen so far? It's not likely any of you is gonna get there anytime soon." Shiana Sentarl "I want you to remember tonight, Rei. I want you to keep this in mind, the next time you accuse me of being unfair, or unjust. I want you to remember what caused this to happen to you: your arrogance, your attitude only serves to remind every trainer here that you're far from ready. Try to explain it all you want... but you know why this happened tonight."

Estrella Gratis speaks out for the first time since joining the Blackwood Academy. EG <Spanish>: "I came to this country to show my passion and love for this sport. The women at Blackwood have been very kind in welcoming me into the fold and I could not be more grateful for such a wonderful group of people to train with, and learn from."
EG <Spanish>: "That said, I did not come her to lose all of my matches. I am in a bit of a rough patch, but my matches have not been blowout victories. My opponents have had to work hard. I will continue to work hard."
EG <Spanish>: "All I have to say is this. Do not think that because I am 0-2 I will be giving up. It is our losses, just as much as our wins, that defined us as performers. Reach for the stars my friends."

Ahead of posting the house show tomorrow, I've got a card set up so you can know what to expect when things go up Saturday afternoon. I'll be running all the matches throughout today, most likely (this cough has put me kind of behind schedule if I'm being totally honest, oof.) Two debuts arriving at the Academy this month, with perhaps more to come? Asha Nelson is a young rookie heel, just starting out, and her current simple gameplan is to work either towards a basic cutter finish, or an ankle lock. Meanwhile, joining the slightly more advanced class is Calista Vargas from Brazil, a lean, athletic young woman still trying to build up a few parts of her offense: for now, her primary finisher is a screw neckbreaker, with the eventual goal of building herself up to start using the Storm Breaker. She's also got a butterfly neck lock in her arsenal and is fond of landing (and sometimes finishing) off of crossbodies. Neither edit is close to ready for release, but given the nature of the house show, they're in a complete enough state that I can at least run their matches, and then have another two weeks to fine-tune them before they appear on an actual stream. Asha Nelson vs. Estrella Gratis
Heather Wild and Josie Wilde vs. Rhiannon Banes and Nana Yoon
Melody Bryant vs. Maria Marella
Baby Peregrine vs. Keiko Maeda
Anna Bryant and Emma Travers vs. Amber Wright and Katherine White
Calista Vargas vs. Tara Helmsley
Rei Hasegawa vs. Iris Coleman
Sung Moon and Ayako Asami vs. Christina Wagner and Alena Ramsey
Diosa Syringa vs. Fiona Walsh
Leona Sterling vs. Jessika Boom

All right, April house show is now on the record... there were some pretty solid ones in the batch this time around. Quick Results Estrella Gratis def. Asha Nelson Heather Wild and Josie Wilde def. Rhiannon Banes and Nana Yoon Maria Marella def. Melody Bryant Baby Peregrine def. Keiko Maeda Anna Bryant and Emma Travers def. Amber Wright and Katherine White Calista Vargas def. Tara Helmsley Iris Coleman def. Rei Hasegawa Sung Moon and Ayako Asami def. Christina Wagner and Alena Ramsey Diosa Syringa def. Fiona Walsh Leona Sterling def. Jessika Boom Write-ups A solid enough debut for Nelson, but Estrella finally seemed to put the pieces together here, her striking prowess and relentless offense giving her her first Academy victory over the newcomer. Still, Asha has some clear potential: her Cutter still nearly won this match even after she'd been taking a beating. Estrella: 3 points Asha: 2 points Nana Yoon stayed on the offensive quite a bit in this one, but Heather Wild once again showed that she may be one of the unsung MVPs of the rookie class, never letting up when she was in the ring, and fighting off both Nana and Rhiannon. Combined with Josie at her side, the two would make quite the effective team, and a double-arm DDT on Nana gave Heather another showcase victory... the young rockstar could be on her way to big things. Heather and Josie: 5 points Nana and Rhiannon: 4 points Melody had the clear strength advantage, but Maria had technique on her side. While Melody's suplexes had her out in front for a good portion of the match, Maria was biding her time, catching the stronger woman in a few quick submissions, rolling her into flash pins, and at one point locking in her devastating F- submission. But a sharp reverse DDT was the big one here, and Maria slipped away with another impressive victory in singles competition. Maria: 3 points Melody: 2 points After a miscommunication at last month's live show, Baby Peregrine finally got a chance to show what she's learned these past three months... and boy, did she. Keiko did her best to try and ground the young luchadora, but from the start it seemed like Peregrine had hit another gear, ultimately landing a huge dive and sealing the win in very, very impressive fashion. Peregrine: 4 points Keiko: 3 points It took Anna and Emma a fair bit of time to find their footing in this match, but once they did, things started looking up for them. Katherine and Amber controlled much of the first half, but Anna began to pick up steam, and Emma followed suit, even stealing Katherine's signature elaborate submission at one point. But it'd be Emma's own legwork that won the day here, tying up Amber and forcing a near-instant tapout to give Rilantha De Nav's students another big win. Anna and Emma: 6 points Amber and Katherine: 5 points Quite the debut for the young Brazilian, enduring a very motivated Tara Helmsley. Tara was firing on all cylinders for much of the match, but once again it seemed her cocky attitude got her in trouble, passing up a pinning opportunity to taunt Calista. From there, it seemed like the tables began to turn, and Calista would land a big Frog Splash to pick up her first win in her debut match. Calista: 4 points Tara: 3 points Perhaps Iris is as tired of Rei Hasegawa as anyone: this match turned vicious in a hurry, as an errant stomp cut Rei open, and the young Japanese rookie would bleed throughout nearly the entire match. For her part, Rei didn't back down from the fight: she nearly took down the Wrecking Ball on a couple of occasions, but could never quite land the Alabaster Smasher. Saburo Aoki Jr. got involved at one point, distracting referee Eve Blackwood, but Iris didn't let it get to her, and laid Rei out before landing a huge diving stomp, picking up another very, very impressive win. Iris: 3 points Rei: 2 points It's tough to ignore just how effectively Sung Moon and Ayako Asami work together. Even against Christina Wagner's near-overwhelming power and Alena Ramsey's impressive speed, there was no hesitation here, and it almost seemed like the outcome was never in doubt with the teamwork on display. A big Book End from Sung gave her an impressive pinfall over Christina, as the Korean continues to rise through the ranks. Sung and Ayako: 5 points Christina and Alena: 4 points Barely any downtime in this match: Diosa Syringa finally seems to have figured something out, at least, as she was a dynamo, locking in her signature submissions, and staying on the move as much as she could. Fiona, meanwhile, wasn't idle: she gave as good as she got, but simply couldn't kick out of the final Swanton Bomb that scored the three-count. Syringa: 4 points Fiona: 3 points You have to give Jessika Boom credit: the young woman has heart. She couldn't get her offense rolling here, Leona simply stuffing her at every turn, but it took no less than THREE Guillotines for Jessika to finally give in. Still, Leona Sterling continues to prove just why she's the Academy Champion... and why nobody's been able to take it from her. Leona: 3 points Jessika: 2 points

We've reached the end of the month, and this Saturday will be April's live show for the Academy, returning back to the Academy dojo this month. We won't be back in the big arena until the end of June, now. Rhiannon Banes vs. Keiko Maeda
Nana Yoon and Melody Bryant vs. Maria Marella and Asha Nelson
Josie Wilde vs. Baby Peregrine
Heather Wild vs. Estrella Gratis
Ayako Asami and Diosa Syringa vs. Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley
Emma Travers vs. Rei Hasegawa
Sung Moon vs. Christina Wagner
Jessika Boom and Calista Vargas vs. Amber Wright and Katherine White
Fiona Walsh vs. Iris Coleman
Anna Bryant vs. Leona Sterling for the Academy ChampionshipRhiannon Banes is still looking to find her footing somewhat, even after her character evolution. She'll need to find it quickly... but so will Keiko Maeda, who may have things figured out, but has yet to fully realize her potential even with the backing of her mother's talent. This will be one of the more purely "rookie" matches on the card, without a doubt.
Nana Yoon continues to impress, and she'll team up with Melody Bryant this month, as they square off with a prodigy as well as the newest member of the Academy in Asha Nelson. It's hard to tell whether Asha will let Maria down like so many other tag partners before her... the odds don't seem to be in her favor.
Josie Wilde will step into the ring with Baby Peregrine, who now seems to truly be coming into her own. It won't be easy, that much is clear... Peregrine was already a standout, and now she may be one of the best in the Academy, a quickly-rising star that could very well begin to take on tougher competition before long.
Heather Wild is almost certainly the standout of the Academy rookies... and she'll certainly have a chance to prove it here against Estrella Gratis. The aspiring rockstar seems determined to be the first of the class to break out into the main Academy roster... but even a talent like Heather still has a lot to prove.
Diosa Syringa continues to try to find that spark, searching for the last little tweak she needs to show that she's better than the rest... she'll team up with Ayako Asami, who surprisingly will be in a match that doesn't involve Sung Moon, for once. Still, they'll face a team that is starting to know each other fairly well, as Alena Ramsey and Tara Helmsley join forces once again to stay on a roll... though Alena has made indications that she'll be making a change, this month.
Emma Travers will be the next lucky woman to take on Rei Hasegawa... "lucky" might be the wrong word, here. But there is no doubt that Rei has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way since joining the Academy, and Emma appears to be no exception. She'll seemingly be out to try and humble Rei even further, following after Shiana Sentarl and Iris Coleman the last two shows.
Sung Moon has a tough one this month: she's poised to take on Christina Wagner, one of the best pure powerhouses in the Academy, and there's no doubt that it's going to be a tough one for the young Korean. But Sung Moon has proven to excel under pressure... this could be exactly the sort of challenge she needs.
Calista Vargas steps up for her first tag match alongside Jessika Boom... a high-flying team that will no doubt turn some heads, as they take on the more grounded Amber and Katherine. Calista impressed in her debut match earlier this month, but she'll now have a partner to work with... will it help the young Brazilian, or only get in her way?
Two dangerous strikers clashing here, with Fiona Walsh taking on the Wrecking Ball, Iris Coleman. Iris has looked almost ready to move to a full promotion roster in recent weeks, but she remains with the Academy, perhaps sharpening her skills just a bit further before she steps away. This one's going to be hard-hitting, and could get ugly in a hurry.
Anna Bryant hasn't yet scored a signature win with the Academy... but she'll aim to change that by finally being the one to topple Leona Sterling and capture the Academy Championship. General opinion seems to favor Leona graduating from the Academy very soon... but she's not letting go of the title without a fight, and Anna will have to be at her absolute best if she wants to be the one to finally take the Scottish fighter down.

The live show has wrapped, and there were a lot of surprises, and a lot of impressive showings. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/417427545Youtube: youtu.be/HVrysINu7u4Quick Results Rhiannon Banes def. Keiko Maeda Maria Marella and Asha Nelson def. Melody Bryant and Nana Yoon Josie Wilde def. Baby Peregrine Estrella Gratis def. Heather Wild La Corsaria (Alena Ramsey) and Tara Helmsley def. Ayako Asami and Diosa Syringa Rei Hasegawa def. Emma Travers Sung Moon def. Christina Wagner Jessika Boom and Calista Vargas def. Amber Wright and Katherine White Iris Coleman def. Fiona Walsh Anna Bryant def. Leona Sterling to become the NEW Academy Champion Write-ups Very even matchup between the two rookies, with Keiko looking like she had it won with the Nagata Lock... but the tables turned quickly, and Rhiannon would land a big running elbow to pick up a much-needed victory. Rhiannon: 3 points Keiko: 2 points Just unfortunate teamwork (or lack thereof) from Melody and Nana here. Too many mistakes led to Maria and Asha taking full advantage, and eventually, Nana would be isolated in the opposing corner and locked in Maria's F- submission, securing the victory. Maria and Asha: 4 points Melody and Nana: 3 points A rough one, by any standard... Josie had control of this one for a good while, until Peregrine began to make her comeback, only to ultimately get hit with Josie's finisher once again to stuff it. Josie: 4 points Peregrine: 3 points Heather seemed to have this match in the bag... a shame she apparently lost every semblance of ring awareness she had, constantly locking her sleeper hold in while standing by the ropes, leading to her never getting anywhere with it. Estrella would land a big-time move and finish the job, leaving Heather frustrated... both with herself, and with referee Eve Blackwood. Estrella: 4 points Heather: 3 points An absolutely wild tag match that saw both teams put in a lot of work... and it seemed like it might never end, a vicious struggle right to the finish. But finally, an opportunity presented itself to Alena Ramsey (Now going by La Corsaria and sporting a new pirate-inspired look), and locked in her signature submission to force the tapout on Ayako. Alena/Corsaria and Tara: 6 points Ayako and Diosa: 5 points Maybe the single most convincing victory Rei Hasegawa has ever scored in her career. Emma just couldn't get out of the starting gates here, and Rei picked her apart with two Alabaster Smashers... she didn't even need the input of the fanclub to finish this one off. Rei: 3 points Emma: 2 points Sung Moon was one step ahead of the game here from the opening bell. Early on, a series of stiff knees blasted Christina open, and she never seemed to recover from that, Sung having her number almost the entire way, countering what was intended to be another big DDT into a quick headscissors, and finishing the job with her tribute to the Houston Hangover. A dominant showing by the Korean. Sung Moon: 3 points Christina: 2 points Katherine and Amber are definitely becoming quite the team... but tonight, it was Jessika and newcomer Calista Vargas that won the day, with Jessika staying on the move and eventually locking in a Bow and Arrow to finish things off. A very impressive tag match from both sides, however... and some very solid teamwork. Jessika and Calista: 6 points Amber and Katherine: 5 points Iris was, once again, beyond impressive. Despite Fiona fighting to get back into the match, hitting a strong series of suplexes late, Iris fired right back with one of the lariats she's becoming well-known for, and picked up yet another showcase victory. Iris could already be outgrowing the Academy... she's certainly been a force of nature around here. Iris: 3 points Fiona: 2 points It finally happened: someone came in with a plan to take on Leona, and made it work. Anna Bryant showed no fear or hesitation against the woman that's dominated the Academy roster, and indeed already held a win over Anna in the past... but Leona couldn't bring her dangerous Guillotine to bear. While she managed to bring her other weapons into play, this seemed to be the deciding factor: and Anna would wear her down before snapping her up in a flash pin that stunned the Academy. For the first time ever, we have a NEW Academy Champion! Anna: 3 points Leona: 2 points Anna Bryant "I've found myself wondering a lot, lately, about my place in the Academy... about the expectations placed on me. The student of a legend in Rilantha De Nav... everyone expects me to become one of the best, you know? And tonight I finally feel like I might be starting to live up to that, even if it's just a little bit. I've learned from my time here... learned how to handle myself better than ever, learned everything I could from Ril, and now I'm the Academy Champion. I'm not going to let anyone down... I'm not going to let anyone stand in my way. I'm going to hold this title with pride, and defend it as fiercely as Leona did. That's a promise." Leona Sterling "This isn't over between you and me. I beat you once. Now you've got my title around your waist. The way I see it, I won't be satisfied until I get my rematch... so convenient that the Academy's adopting a ranking system this month. They wanna keep me away from you so their new golden girl doesn't get choked out when she can't luck into a win like she did tonight. But your time's coming, Anna. I'm gonna get my rematch. I'm gonna get my title back. And I will choke the life right outta you to do it." As Leona alluded to, the Academy will be adopting a similar ranking system to that of the Pacific Northwest Championship on Showdown. It's the easiest way to determine a contender for the Academy Championship, as there's not always an obvious pick... especially when the obvious picks have already gotten their shot! I'll be running the ranking league over the course of the next... week or so. It's gonna take a while. The Academy roster is quite a bit bigger than the PNW contenders.

-*Estrella Gratis*-
Estrella smiles as she speaks in Spanish, hands behind her back as she rocks back and forth on her toes. "My opponent was very strong. It took absolutely everything I had inside of me to stay in that match." The young Mexican woman nods. "My mother used to say I have a big heart. I had to reach deep inside to avoid submitting. I am improving. The trainers at Blackwood Academy have been helping me hone my specific style, and I could not be happier with my progress. I look forward to my next match, and meeting my next opponent." Estrella waves before turning and leaving.

The ranking league is finished, and we have our first #1 contender for the Academy Championship: none other than DIOSA SYRINGA has won the league, beating out Amber Wright on the basis of tiebreaker (Diosa defeated Amber in their match.) Anna, the champion herself, actually wound up placing second (Diosa, Anna and Amber all had the same record: Diosa defeated both Anna and Amber, Anna also beat Amber.) The rankings, then, are as follows: 1. Diosa Syringa 2. Amber Wright 3. Jessika Boom 4. Christina Wagner 5. Iris Coleman 6. Emma Travers 7. Calista Vargas 8. Katherine White 9. Sung Moon 10. Baby Peregrine 11. Ayako Asami 12. La Corsaria 13. Josie Wilde 14. Leona Sterling 15. Rei Hasegawa 16. Tara Helmsley 17. Heather Wild 18. Nana Yoon 19. Rhiannon Banes 20. Keiko Maeda 21. Estrella Gratis 22. Melody Bryant 23. Asha Nelson 24. Maria Marella 25. Fiona Walsh For a deeper dive into results, see here: challonge.com/yc13b0kn

This month's house show will look like this... the singles matches, and the sole 4-way match, will all be for a chance to move up the rankings, while tag matches won't count towards them. For this purpose I intend to ensure that no wrestler is booked in a tag match two shows in a row. #23 Asha Nelson vs. #18 Nana Yoon
Rhiannon Banes and Estrella Gratis vs. Heather Wild and Josie Wilde
#10 Baby Peregrine vs. #22 Melody Bryant
#20 Keiko Maeda vs. #24 Maria Marella
Rei Hasegawa and Christina Wagner vs. Fiona Walsh and Ayako Asami
#6 Emma Travers vs. #7 Calista Vargas vs. #8 Katherine White vs. #9 Sung Moon
Iris Coleman and Leona Sterling vs. La Corsaria and Tara Helmsley
#1 Diosa Syringa vs. #3 Jessika Boom
#2 Amber Wright vs. Champion Anna BryantAsha Nelson's early career has been full of struggle thus far... though she's slowly seeming to figure things out in the early goings. She'll need to tap into that recent success, though, if she wants to take down Nana Yoon... the match won't be easy, with the Korean showing a ton of potential from day one.
Estrella Gratis teams up with the young Welsh rookie, Rhiannon Banes, in order to take on a team that would give anyone cause for concern... Heather Wild and Josie Wilde are a dangerous duo, without a doubt, and it's going to be an uphill battle for sure.
Baby Peregrine might not even need to be put in with the rest of the rookies anymore... with a top ten finish in the ranking league, she could very well have proven herself on the level of anyone in the entire Academy. Melody, though, will be looking to bring the young luchadora back down to earth...
Keiko and Maria both struggled in the league, and now they find themselves against each other, searching for an important win. Slipping any further in the rankings would be disastrous for Keiko... but Maria is hungry to rise through the ranks and prove herself as better than her league performance suggested.
Christina Wagner likely isn't going to be happy about this arrangement: teaming up with Rei Hasegawa, she'll have to endure the arrogant young Japanese rookie, as they take on a frighteningly dangerous pair in Fiona Walsh and Ayako Asami. Christina may have to carry her team... all while Rei insists that's exactly what she's doing.
It's 4-way action, as ranks 6-9 step into the ring all at once. Emma Travers was a surprise, coming in at #6 in the end, but she'll have a tough time keeping her spot here: Calista Vargas, Katherine White and Sung Moon are all exceptionally dangerous and talented women. The rules here are simple: First eliminated wrestler takes the #9 spot, winner takes the #6 spot. Simple enough, hm?
An odd couple match to be sure... Iris Coleman and Leona Sterling have made it no secret that they don't like each other, but they'll team up regardless as they take on La Corsaria and Tara Helmsley, who continue to keep their team rolling along even after a complete gimmick and name change for the former Alena Ramsey.
The #1 contender steps into the ring with #3, with Diosa Syringa taking on Jessika Boom. A win by Jessika here would add her to the championship match at the live show this month... but Diosa won the league outright for a reason, and it's not going to be easy to take her down.
Meanwhile, the champion will square off with #2, Amber Wright. Amber came inches away from winning the league herself... but fell just short, and Syringa would take the win. But Amber has a chance to redeem herself here: if she wins this match, she'll add her name into the championship match later this month, meaning we could see a 3-way... or even a 4-way title match.
