Geese: There's so many layers of return to that tag match. Connor returning from injury. UIG returning after he disappeared for the better part of a year after his match with Samael. Connor and Kazuo returning as a tag team after spending most of the year as singles dudes. Kyle Sieras returning to a big show after having kind of a lowered profile since losing the title, despite having a good World Open run. The layers keep coming.

Connor and Kazuo back as a team makes a ton of sense right now. Connor coming back after the injury means that it's a wise idea to have Saji backing him up. Saji needs at least temporary break from singles competition in SWA after the World Open and going into the Universal Championship league. And I'm sure both of them would like to face UIG and Kyle who are top names but less likely to try to legit kill them than Samael đ

Aftermath was a hell of a show, I've got to say. SWA Aftermath 4/26/2020Opening Match: Triple Debut Triple Threat: Akiko Shimizu (Blue) vs. Hanami Watanabe (Red) vs. Emi Yamazaki (Yellow)youtu.be/uXUUcI2qhYYPost-Match: The victorious Akiko gestures for a microphone, but then pauses and seems unsure what to say when she has it. After a moment, she begrudgingly hands the microphone over to Hanami, who is just recovering from that Frog Splash.
Hanami: SWA! We are Princess Guard! We come from Taiyou Dojo in Japan!
Emi, the first to fall in the match, gets up and joins in
Emi: We come to fight! And Learn! In AMERICA!
All Three: Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
The three young wrestlers bow out to the audience Double-Return Tag Team Match: Connor Cipris and Kazuo Saji vs. unimportantguy and Kyle Sieras: youtu.be/qZOTlIm1_kASWA Tag Team Championship Match: High Fly Heroes vs. Angels of Anarchy(c): youtu.be/DkbKLnOrW4YSWA Aftermath Championship Match: Armel St. Martin vs. Aguijon Tachibana(c): youtu.be/UKinx_bDM1c SWA Joshi Championship Match: Tigress Amita vs. Mieko Suzuyama: youtu.be/jvbWcK4bjVcMAIN EVENT: Steel Cage SWA Openweight Championship Match: Paul Lambert vs. Samael Tangaroa: Pre-Match: Paul enters flanked by his Vanguard compatriot VOLT Tsukuda. Paul shakes hands with VOLT, who takes a position as second outside the cage. When Samael's music starts, the entire Brotherhood of Fallen Angels, save for the injured Aaron Wolff, enter the arena, standing at each side of the ramp and saluting. After a long moment, Samael makes his appearance, closing his eyes and taking in the booing from the audience. The Brotherhood move in lockstep with Samael as he makes his way down the ramp, and surround the cage. Referee Toby Russell rushes over to protest, but Samael ignores him. Instead he locks eyes with Paul. Smirking, he says "I'll dismiss mine if you dismiss yours." Paul looks Samael in the eye for a long moment, then slowly nods and tells VOLT to go to the back. The Brotherhood also begin to depart, but halfway up the ramp, Blaze turns back and starts rushing towards the ring! But as he reaches the door to the cage, he is intercepted as N-Trio leaps out of the crowd, wrench in hand! N-Trio clobbers Blaze with the wrench and gives a mocking salute to Samael before carrying the limp Blaze out of the arena. youtu.be/b0sxMWLnw90Post-Match: Toby Russell presents Paul with the SWA Openweight Championship, then takes unusual glee in ordering the defeated Samael to leave the cage. Samael clenches and unclenches his fists a couple times before punching poor Toby out and stomping his way out of the cage. As he makes his way up the ramp, he turns and roars "THIS ISN'T OVER!"
Paul calls for a microphone.
Paul: That's where you're wrong, Samael. You can't have forgotten the stipulation you agreed to for this match. It is over. Your reign, SWA's collective nightmare, the Brotherhood itself. It is all. Over. I'm giving you this chance now to avoid further embarrassment. Go on back to the locker room, say goodbye to your former faction mates, and consider where your career goes from here.
Samael moves to go back towards the ring, then, astonishingly enough, turns on his heel and storms out of the arena, leaving Paul to celebrate his victory.
Paul: With this victory, my promise to you, SWA, is complete. Now, I make a new promise. I have no intention of resting on my laurels. I will be a fighting champion. And I already know who I will fight next. Not very many people defeated me in the World Open, but I think we can all agree that the people who did deserve a shot at this championship. El Hijo de Toxico, don't worry, your moment will come--
Paul has to pause for a moment to let the ripple of chuckling form the audience subside.
Paul: Fair's fair! He beat me! But I'm talking about the other man that beat me in the World Open. VOLT, come on out here.
VOLT makes his way out onto the entrance ramp. Paul gestures for VOLT to join him in the ring.
Paul: VOLT. You didn't just beat me. You beat a lot of people in the World Open. Many people didn't give you the credit you deserved going into the tournament, and a lot of peoples' brackets had you coming out of the tournament with only a few points. You proved them all wrong. You've earned an opportunity to challenge me, and I have a loss I'd like to pay back to you. I await your challenge.
VOLT: This is just like you. You should be celebrating right now! You've fulfilled every goal you set out to, and instead of relaxing and having a good time, you're already looking for your next fight. But! I can't say I wasn't thinking of challenging you, at an appropriate time and place. Since you've gone and put on the spot and all, though, I guess we're doing this now.
VOLT steps back and in a comical, exaggerated fashion, smooths his hair and beard, squares up, and puts on a "serious face."
VOLT: Paul Lambert, I challenge you for the SWA Openweight Championship!
Paul visibly resists the urge to smile or laugh, (barely) keeping a netural expression.
Paul: I accept.
Paul holds out a hand, and the two shake on it, before VOLT suddenly pulls Paul into a full-on hug. The camera catches him whispering "Almost got you" in Paul's ear, and that finally makes him chuckle.

From the 5/16/2020 episode of SWA TV: unimportantguy comes out and call for a mic.UIG: First off, I promise this won't take too long. We'll be back to the action in just a few, but there's been a lot of questions since I came back. Some people went so far as to say I owe everyone an explanation as to where I've been. Now, for those people, fuck off! I don't owe you shit. unimportantguy flips his middle finger at nobody in particular. A ripple of laughter rises from the crowd, which seems to genuinely catch unimportantguy by surprise. He pauses and waits for it to pass.UIG: Okay, okay. Letâs talk seriously for a minute. Samael hurt me. Bad. I had to have one of those conversations with my doctor where he asked me what was more important: getting back to wrestling, or being able to walk in 10 years. He pretty much told me to retire. Obviously, I told him to shove it up his ass, but from June until November, it wasnât a sure thing that Iâd even be physically able to return to the ring. I had a lot of time to myself. By the time I could start working out again, I knew. Iâd gone as far as I could in that form. I needed to find a training partner. So I made some calls. unimportantguy pulls the microphone away from his mouth, but doesnât quite manage to hide the bitter chuckle that comes out of his mouth.UIG: Nobody called me back. My training school. My rivals from the indie days. My backyard buddies from way back. Hell, I even called the dude that owned the lighthouse I used to train in when I was in FPCPP. Not a one of âem wanted anything to do with me. Maybe itâs my shining personality, but I guess Iâve burned some bridges in this business. In the end, I ended up doing what I shouldâve done in the first place: I talked to my friends in the Redeemed. Now, I know what youâre thinking: everybodyâs been saying they hadnât heard from me for months, ever since the match with Samael in June, when I got injured. Thatâs what I told them to say. I didnât want to give that shitpile another fuckinâ thing to brag about. Anway, Kyle called in some favors and got me in touch with Sydney Riott and Flora Maria. For anybody who didnât already know, theyâve got a new training group theyâre running down in Mexico called Riott Squad, and after some convincing, they agreed to help me get ready for my return. So once the holidays were over, I shipped my ass down to Mexico. While I was there, I didnât just get the chance to work with Sydney and Maria, who were both great, by the way â not praise I give lightly â I also got a chance to work with the kids theyâre training down there. One of them really impressed me. This guy, heâs tough, brave, tenacious, never backs down. I was so impressed that, even though Sydney asked me not to, I sent a video of one of our training sessions to Kyle, and to Alex Morgainne. Thatâs all it took to convince them we needed this guy. I think you guys will be pretty convinced to, so let me introduce you to the newest member of the Redeemed. youtu.be/4Tfit0BA_SgMatt de Leon and unimportantguy shake hands, and unimportantguy says âLetâs show âem what you can do.â Matt nods, removes his jacket and chaps, and he and unimportantguy square off, but then unimportantguy looks over at referee Toby Rusell, and calls for the mic again.UIG: Hey, donât you have a title match to ruin or something? Get outta here. Get me that new guy, Karl. He knows how to referee. Toby tries to argue, but unimportantguy just keep pointing to the back and gesturing him away. Finally, Toby relents, and the match gets underway.youtu.be/xUGRNjLeJwoPost-Matchunimportantguy helps Matt to his feet, and the two shake hands again, but this time, Matt doesnât let go. Instead, he pulls unimportantguy into a staredown. There is a tense moment of silence, but then unimportantguy smiles. We hear him say âThatâs the shit I like to see.â

From the 5/23 episode of SWA TV: youtu.be/uU-amtmLSEcArmel: Bonsoir, mes amies. I hope everyone is enjoying themselves with SWA this evening? Tres bien, tres bien. Let's not slow things down, then. You see, It has been nearly a month since Aftermath, non? And I have yet to have a single challenger step forward for my SWA Aftermath Championship. This cannot stand. And, I know there are wrestlers in the back who cannot wait to debut in front of all of you. So, here is my offer. Any of you who have been waiting patiently for your chance to come dance on this grand stage, I, Armel St. Martin, shall be your partner. Hey again, ya'll! I've been accused of being remiss in my duties as SWA outreach dude for the Crit Club Community, but the truth is there hasn't really been anything to report. After running TV through the month of May, SWA suddenly and without warning ceased all shows in June. Given the state of things in the US, there could be any number of reasons for this. However, no official statements have been made whatsoever. Fan theories have run from wrestlers contracting coronavirus, to financial or legal issues, to more dire takes like yakuza involvement. As it is, nobody's saying anything, so nobody really knows. At this point, SWA has missed a Pay-Per-View in Emergence, and it's looking like they're likely to miss their October PPV, Breakdown, as well. This also means that they're likely to miss out on the entirety of the Fletcher Gillespie Retirement Tour. As the weeks of silence from SWA drifted on into months, some SWA talent found other things to do with their time. N-Trio has been running a YouTube show where he talks about music and wrestling and shows off his collection of band shirts. Lina was banned from Twitch in August for streaming in her underwear, which she called a "bullsh*t ban when it's so f*cking hot out." As for my favorite wrestler, unimportantguy? Rumor has it he's been wrestling deathmatches for some underground fed in the Seattle area, but who knows how true that is...

Non-kayfabing post: I've had, and I suspect this is true of a lot of people, a rough few months personally and professionally. In combination with that, or possibly because of that, my interest level in working on Fire Pro stuff has been pretty variable, and paradoxically, the release of Move Craft actually hurt my motivation even more because suddenly there were just so many moves to see it felt overwhelming. At no point have I really felt up to getting back into full swing on this thread. I have, for the moment at least, landed in a more stable position, and felt like I should at least deliver an update, and while I was puzzling over what had been going on with SWA, the "Lina gets banned from Twitch" bit floated into my head and the rest kind of ran from there. What's going on with unimportantguy? Who's that mysterious fellow across the ring from him? What's going on with SWA? Did James Fushichou get whacked by yakuza thugs? I hope to answer these questions soon, but as always, it'll be at my pace whenever I find the time and motivation.

Legit LOL'ing about the OGJoshiFanNet Forums absolutely LIGHTING UP over Lina's Twitch ban!! You just know some long time accounts were blocked for the shit show that conversation turned into! As for my favorite wrestler, unimportantguy? Rumor has it he's been wrestling deathmatches for some underground fed in the Seattle area, but who knows how true that is... UIG looks great there and really suited to the cage and wow holy shit who is his opponent? Love the look on that edit! You got this cool shiny look on his jeans and did a great job just putting everything together there. A really sleek MMA style/deathmatch hybrid look!

I hope to answer these questions soon, but as always, it'll be at my pace whenever I find the time and motivation. Double-post but I really wanted to (&) touch on this in its own post. I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a rough few months. I hope that things get better soon. For my part, July and September really sucked and this is just an awful year in general. So I really do feel where you are coming from on this.
"Variable" is the perfect word to describe Fire Pro right now. The game, and my e-feds, have been with me through ups and downs, greatly helping during downs. But there's something about this year that has cut off some of my creativity at times - almost like a 2020-bred apathy getting in the way.
Move Craft was initially a miraculous development for me then I poured two months of time making moves that barely made it onto any actual edits. And I spent too much time on it in general. The worst part though is that it's like a curse now. It opened up the game in a way I simply can't process. The word that you used is perfect: it's overwhelming. I simply do not have enough time or energy to approach the infinite ways we can create edits now or even modify them. Creating moves was more finite but what's the purpose if I'm not using them?
The way I see it - everyone's Fire Pro experience is only as deep as the time they have for it. The less time, the less deep it can be to get enjoyment. You give me a game like Pro Wrestling and only an hour a day to play, I'm satisfied. You give me Fire Pro Wrestling and only an hour to play, I'm frustrated. There's no way I can squeeze all of the Move Craft potential into the small amount of time I have to make edits. It was fine over the summer when I had more time. But I don't now. So I have to almost ignore all I can do. I haven't been able to make any new edits since Move Craft and I had made two new edits in the Spring (which was incredible for me).
Working on edits AND creating e-fed content seems impossible right now. I have to do one or the other and a lot of the time my energy just isn't there. I realize that though and my expectations are in check for that but I still miss doing it and wish I could do more. Maybe in a few months.
You just keep doing for fun what you need to do for fun when you have time and energy to do it. When things are difficult, and time is tight, you can't let your hobbies feel like work.
I hope that things continue getting better đ

I've been catching up on some wrestling stuff recently, and happened to notice this article in the November issue of Inside Wrasslin'. I decided to copy it down here, as it's relevant to SWA fans. I've been meaning to get this posted since October, but it's been slow going get it all done. Hope the wait was worth it, folks! Okay folks, if you haven't heard, SWA finally announced their return show last week. SWA Crescendo is coming on January 31st, out of the classic SWA hometown of Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, due to both work and COVID-related travel restrictions, I will be unable to attend the show, so I won't be able to do as much as I usually do with videos and such, and will be watching on VOD. I'll be providing a simpler, streamlined write-up after the fact for people who didn't get to see the show but want to catch up on what's going on with SWA.
Card Below:
SWA Crescendo 2021 1/31/2021 in Portland, Oregon
Fletcher Gillespie Retirement Ceremony Kyle Sieras, unimportantguy, Becky Bravo, and Matt de Leon vs. Raye Groves, El Halcon Loco Jr., Mieko Suzuyama, and Chad Jackson SWA Tag-Team Championships: Gold-Blooded (Cerise and Leticia Fujioka) vs. High Fly Heroes (Dash McCaine and Ashlynn Reed) SWA Aftermatch Championship: Lina vs. Armel St. Martin SWA Joshi Championship: A Debuting Wrestler vs. Tigress Amita SWA Openweight Championship: VOLT Tsukuda vs. Paul Lambert
This may sound a bit weird, but I think the thing that stings most to me is that I'm going to be missing Fletcher Gillespie's retirement. Fletcher's meant so much to SWA fans over the years as the company's senior referee, and as a long-time devoted fan, it feels weird to not be there to see him go.

Okay folks, let's talk Crescendo. What happened at SWA's first show of 2021? The show, of course, opened with longtime SWA senior referee Fletcher Gillespie's retirement ceremony. Nearly the whole roster (notably not including Los Diablos or the former members of the Brotherhood of Fallen Angels) came out to pay tribute and wish Fletcher a happy retirement. Alex Morgainne gave a brief speech, and James Fushichou himself even made a rare appearance to present Fletcher with a large bouquet and a beautiful bonsai tree - Japanese cherry, if anybody cares. This was all very moving and brought a tear to my eye, but I'm sure it's not why anybody is reading this. Kyle Sieras, unimportantguy, Becky Bravo, and Matt de Leon vs. Raye Groves, El Halcon Loco Jr., Mieko Suzuyama, and Chad JacksonThis was a fun enough match, with some great teamwork on both sides, and some especially impressive double-team spots by Raye Groves and Chad Jackson, who scream future tag team based on this match. However, anything that happened in the match was overshadowed by what happened after the final bell. After celebrating their victory, the Redeemed team made to leave, but unimportantguy was a bit slow, having had his leg worked over by Mieko Suzuyama for a decent stretch of the match. This meant that he was alone on the stage when a man came rushing out of the crowd and started beating the hell out of him! unimportantguy tried to fight back, but was too tired from the match and was easily dominated. The man then pulled out a steel spike from the back of his pants, and would've driven it right into unimportantguy's forehead, had Kyle Sieras and Becky Bravo not returned to see what was taking UIG so long to get backstage. Together, Sieras and Bravo chased off unimportantguy's mystery assailant. SWA Tag-Team Championships: Gold-Blooded vs. High Fly HeroesBoth of these teams are well-established at this point, are known to bring the goods, and they've clashed before. Expectations were pretty set, and they were definitely delivered on. Gold-Blooded tried to ground High Fly Heroes with striking and holds, but High Fly Heroes rose to the occasion, and the Tag-Team Championships stayed within the Vanguard after Ashlynn Reed used a Tiger Feint Kick to set Cerise up for the big Dashed Hope shooting star press from Dash McCaine. SWA Aftermath Championship: Lina vs. Armel St. MartinMany fans, myself included, had this match marked as one to watch out for, and it's not hard to see why. Lina and Armel are two of the most popular wrestlers in SWA, and this match had real show-stealer potential. Armel frustrated Lina early on with his evasiveness, while Lina scored where she could. I think many were surprised by how technical and ground-based this match was. With Armel known for high-flying and Lina for power, it was a big surprise to see them go to the mat as much as they did. It was a testament to the flexibility and skill of both performers, but especially for Lina, who was way out of her normal wheelhouse on the mat. The finish came when Armel went for his triangle jump enzuigiri, only for Lina to catch him out of mid-air, spinning around to hit the Punkbuster, and following up with a Stagecrasher to secure the three-count. Overall, it was a surprising, fun, well-paced match, and I have to give my congratulations to the new Aftermath Champion! SWA Joshi Championship: A Debuting Wrestler vs. Tigress AmitaNobody quite knew what to expect here. The long radio silence from SWA has been so complete that it's been impossible to confirm any wrestlers they might've offered contracts to. Certainly, nobody was expecting what actually happened. The debuting wrestler, calling herself "The Last Tigress" Tigress Faridah, was like holding a crazy funhouse mirror up to Amita, and she pushed the Joshi Champion to the limit. It seemed as if Faridah had an answer to every move of Amita's, often responding with her own variations of moves. However, she simply had no answer for a strong right hand, as she crumpled under the Force Straight Punch, and Amita managed to retain her Joshi Championship through the power of the punch. This hard-hitter was honestly the highlight of the night for me, narrowly edging out Lina vs. Armel and VOLT vs. Paul. SWA Openweight Championship: VOLT Tsukuda vs. Paul LambertAfter what amounted to an entire year of Samael with the title, and another half a year without SWA, it was refreshing to just have a straightforward title match. No shenanigans, no run-ins, no posturing, just a flat-out great professional wrestling match between two dudes with a lot of respect for each other and a lot to prove. VOLT continued to impress with his power, agility, and fighting spirit, while Paul reminded everyone of the technical acumen, striking ability, and resilience that made him a champion in the first place. As they showed in the World Open last year, these two men are very evenly matched, and this match kept me guessing right through to the end. In the end, it came down to a battle of submissions, as VOLT brought out every counter to the Danielson Lock under the sun, and Paul kept finding ways to push out of the Dragon Clutch and back into the Danielson Lock. This is the sort of match that only happens between two dudes who really know each other, and neither men really made any major mistakes, it was just that Paul Lambert was the one who was finally able to get his hold locked in in the center of the ring, with VOLT unable to escape. The only possible blemish on the whole affair was the appearance of N-Trio at the end, coming down to congratulate Paul Lambert on his win. You might call me paranoid, but I've been watching SWA far too long to trust N-Trio's intentions here in the way he keeps trying to buddy up to Paul. I'd love to be proved wrong here - maybe N-Trio has really and finally turned over a new leaf, but I doubt it. Look for him to twist that knife sooner than later.

Crazy announcements coming down from SWA this week. Due to the lost time over the last six months, they're running the World Open and Queen of SWA simultaneously this year, on alternating days. Each will be a one-block 10-person round robin and guys that's a lot of content they're trying to push out before Aftermath at the end of April. I'll try to keep everybody up on what's going on! Here are the Blocks: World OpenMatt de Leon Armel St. Martin Raye Groves Chad Jackson N-Trio El Rey Dorado Kyle Sieras Kazuo Saji Aaron Wolff VOLT Tsukuda My Thoughts: There's a time bomb hiding in the middle of this block. What the hell is N-Trio doing in the World Open? Especially with Connor Cipris not in this years block - marking his second year out of the tournament. There's some other stuff we could talk about as well, like the fact that it's cool to see Chad Jackson and Matt de Leon getting this shot on the big stage, or the fact that this is the first appearance by Aaron Wolff since the breakup of the Brotherhood of Fallen Angels. But my mind keeps going back around to N-Trio. What the hell is he trying to pull? While I'm on the subject of the inexplicable, where is Samael? He hasn't been seen since the breakup of the Brotherhood of Fallen Angels. He was never fired, nor, as far as any of my sources can tell me, did he ever formally quit. He's just gone. Part of me is relieved, but another part of me is more apprehensive. What could this mean? Queen of SWAMieko Suzuyama Tigress Faridah Brianna Dalton Valkyrie Jameson Cerise Toni Severin Shannon Fulmar Keilyn Coardes Regina Ibanez Olivia Powers My Thoughts: SWA Management must be really high on Tigress Faridah. She debuted with a match for the Joshi Championship at Crescendo, and is getting thrown right into the Queen of SWA directly afterwards. Mieko Suzuyama is a natural inclusion, but after as long as she was champion, it's almost a little weird to think of her as being the one chasing the title again. She'd be my pick to go all the way. Another former member of the Brotherhood of Fallen Angels rearing her head for the first time in a year as well, with Valkyrie Jameson entering the tournament. Between Aaron and Valkyrie, we're going to get to see how things are going for the faction's former members now that the Brotherhood itself is dead and gone. Maybe one of them can tell us where Samael went.
