Surprised to see on this board so much dislike of Kenny Omega way of working matches. I understand his mix of comedy and serious style may not be everyone cup of tea, but considering how much the guy usually entertains me (though i didn't like his match with Jericho from the start to the end) it's still surprising to read that here. While not the best wrestler ever (as it's obviously Jushin Liger :D ) , he's still a very good one. I feel like this shouldn't be surprising. The Fire Pro community is full of curmudgeonly people who hate (X) thing and will not pass up any opportunity to tell you about it, often loudly and repeatedly.
(Love you guys anyway)

Well another case of "each to his own" i guess, tough really puzzling considering what Omega can deliver in-ring.
Anyways, i finally got the time to watch the grand finale of this year and i liked it. I think Tanahashi and Ibushi delivered a much better match than they did in their previous encounter at Power Struggle last year (that i didn't liked much) , i liked how they played around the Kamigoye, giving you the feeling that if Ibushi managed to hit Tanahashi was finished.
And that exchange of strong style slap in the face that ended with Tanahashi selling a huge lariat from Ibushi was fantastic, you nearly felt Ibushi "snapped" around that time :)
Can't wait for next year to see Tanahashi and Omega at Wrestle Kingdom, i'm still very impressed how Tanahashi despite being over 40 can still go like that. And nice to see Shibata at ringside.
I think i liked Omega vs Ibushi better but it was still a fantastic match in which both men delivered.
Ishii really was the fan favorite this year without contest, it's incredible how he manages to still get so much positive reaction from everyone watching. The Stone Pitbull always delivers.

I sure hope that he is going to keep the case and go to Wrestle Kingdom to fight Omega. Tanahashi and Omega have not had a 1vs1 match since early 2016 ! they need a match together. And the old Ace needs not winning the belt but at least one last "big" wrestle kingdom main eventing as a "goodbye and good night" before walking into the sunset and leave the main eventing to younger talent that NJPW is filled with.

Actually Tanahashi does need the old ace gets one last run with the belt because he's the only guy they have other than Naito who isn't godawful in calling longer main events.

Kenny vs Omega in the ladder match they never had because Tanahashi had his messed up shoulder.
Never gonna happen.
Mainly because he's losing that case to Naito.

Well he's wrestled a child and an inanimate object so who knows! Is it normal for the G1 winner to defend the case against someone from the opposite block? He's scheduled to defend against Okada at one of the Destruction shows and he said he'd defend against White if he beats Okada but those are the two people he couldn't beat in block A. Do you see him defending it 3 times before WK?

I thought we still had a 'general wrestling thread' but it apparently turned into 'WWE', 'Lucha', and 'NJPW' specifically. What. Anyway, TAKAYAMA-Mania ran today and I'mma attempt to go watch due to this one spoiler alone: Fucking Kobashi and Sasaki guest announced and both of them got to chop Suzuki :D

Tanahashi vs. Omega is a very safe WK13 main event, mostly because (while it sucks to admit it) the contract status of Omega, the Bucks and Cody is up in the air. Tanahashi is going to win and it will either a.) be a long-term storyline that will have a Ladder Match happen if Omega stays or b.) serve as the transition to what the inevitable WK14 main event will be: Okada vs. Naito. WK14 is the first WK in a long time to be on a weekend, which is crucial because they think they can draw a massive crowd, and the biggest money match in Japan right now is Okada vs. Naito. Doing Naito vs. Omega this year seems weird because they've done it every G1 for the last 3 years and just did it in August. Also if the plan was for that they just would have had a Naito vs. Tanahashi G1 final and had Naito win it. So, I am pretty confident we are going to get Omega vs. Tanahashi and then Naito vs. Okada next year, with Naito probably winning the title from Tanahashi (or Omega, if he agrees to a new contract and retains at WK) at Dominion 2019 and Okada winning the G1.

No way Omega leaves before a proper story match vs Ibushi. The g1 was a booking move to help sell Budokan. Omega has said he wants more of a story.
And I don't see him liking anything Vince or Hunter would have for him. He's not about the money, but rather the story. He's there through 2020 at least.
Cody has said he's not going back, and I think the Bucks will stay put as well, though could see them being the ones that leave.
But then again, they'd be leaving behind an empire they single handedly built.
Hard to say.

Looks like the seed of the Ibushi-Omega storyline development have been planted , so he's surely not leaving before the conclusion. After their match of the G1 apparently Omega made a comment he said he should have kept for himself : [twitter url="https://twitter.com/KennyOmegamanX/status/1028651952119283712"] But since then lots of people asked him what it was but he never replied and that comment was actually never found. And today an interview with Kota Ibushi just got published by Tokyo Sport : www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/prores/mens_prores/1112242/and more or less terribly bad internet translation : And there you have it, basically Omega said that he have lost on purpose in order to push Ibushi, and of course Ibushi can't accept that crap. I wonder if this story will start to get into action at All In, but even if not there's going to be some interesting storyline development happening for the 2 wrestlers in the coming njpw shows :)

Interesting to see how Tanahashi and Omega are slowly building their feud for their future Wrestle Kingdom match.
A month or two ago, you had Omega twitting how much he disliked Tanahashi , comparing him to some cult leader that was manipulating his own fans for his own ego.
And Tanahashi said on a radio what he thought of Omega's matches
[twitter url="https://twitter.com/thelionmarks/status/1040898348285255680"]
There's a bit more than 3 months left until Wrestle Kingdom, i expect there will be then more and more shots coming from each other to build the atmosphere right for their WK main event as the story is about 2 wrestler disliking each other instead of showing sign of respects.
I wonder if they're going to have some interviews/matches interferences in the last months before the event, like they did with Omega and Jericho last year
