Jay Youngblood defeated 'Ravishing' Rick Rude at 21:36 with an Leg-Stomp Arm Hold. Youngblood worked the arm early in the match and Rude made a great comeback, but the previous work on the arm was too much. The match received a 96% rating.
'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair defeated Jerry Brisco at 22:04 with a small package. The match received a 94% rating and I really thought Brisco was going to win this one.
'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes defeated 'The Outlaw' Ron Bass at 15:35 after a knife edge chop. Bass did hit 2 pedigrees on Dusty, but Rhodes had a beautiful combo of a Bionic Elbow into a 2.9 Giant Fall and then into the Weaver Lock. 87% match rating.
The 2nd round matches are:
'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair vs. 'The Total Package' Lex Luger
Sting vs. Jack Brisco

In an AWESOME match, Magnum TA beat Jay Youngblood at 16:51 with a sleeper hold. The match got a 97% rating, but deserved 100%. Magnum hit Youngblood with 4 different belly-to-belly suplexes that were in excellent position. Hit him with a back suplex bridge in *perfect* position and could only somehow manage a 2.9 count. Great, great match.
'The Total Package' Lex Luger beats 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair at 12:36 with the Torture Rack. Luger looks strong and dominated Flair. Match got a 75% rating.
Sting defeated Jack Brisco with a Scorpion Deathlock at 16:01. Brisco bled buckets. Match got a 87% rating.
'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes ran thru Wahoo McDaniel at 9:27 after the Bionic Elbow. Match got a 78% rating.

The first round results of the FPWA - Nippon territory Heavyweight Title tourney.
1. In an upset, Riki Choshu defeats Antonio Inoki via CRITICAL! with a Sharpshooter at 12:23. The match received a 68% rating as Choshu dominated Inoki before putting him in the Sharpshooter.
2. In a match that FPWA is all about, Atsushi Onita defeated Vader with a small package at 14:54. The match received a 90% rating, but was an even better match than the rating denotes.
3. Mitsuharhu Misawa defeated Terry Funk with a Tiger Driver at 15:50. The match received a 100% rating as it was a fantastic match.
4. Shinya Hashimoto defeated The Destroyer with the Dangerous DDT which CRITICAL'd The Destroyer at 14:45. The match had the makings of a great match until the CRITICAL! occurred. It received a 77% rating.
5. Bruiser Brody defeated Jumbo Tsuruta in a 100% match after the King Kong Knee Drop at 32:22. This was an incredible match. Even more amazing was Tsuruta juiced in the first 3 minutes. Tsuruta got a bunch of 2.9 counts, but couldn't put Brody away. Wild match.
6. Giant Baba defeated Kenta Kobashi at 16:24 with a Running Neckbreaker Drop. The match received a 92% rating.
7. Stan Hansen defeated Dory Funk, Jr. after the 1,000th lariat at 34:12 and roughly 40 different powerbombs. Dory had the spinning toe hold on Hansen about 10 times, but he wouldn't give up. Match received a 100% rating.

In the 2nd round:
1. Bruiser Brody defeated Giant Baba at 11:52 when Baba submitted to the Canadian Backbreaker. The match received a 95% rating. There was a cool spot where Baba slung Brody into the ropes and gave Brody the big boot and Brody tumbled over the top rope. Good match.
2. Riki Choshu defeated Atsushi Onita at 7:11. Match received a 60% rating as Choshu destroyed Onita and won with a lariat.
3. Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Shinya Hashimoto at 11:44 with the Tiger Driver. The match received a 82% rating.
4. Stan Hansen defeated Toshiaki Kawada at 12:45 with the Lariat. Kawada DOMINATED this match for about the first 9 minutes. But, the beauty of the lariat is that it can come out of nowhere and beat you anytime. Match received a 88% rating.

In the first round of the Tag Team tourney for FPWA - Nippon at the Osaka Dome.
The Funks defeated the Young Bucks at 23:28 when Dory Funk, Jr. CRITICAL'd Nick Jackson with a spinning toe hold. The match received a 98% rating but this was a beautiful clash of styles with the old school Funks that were more selective in their touchwork versus the Young Bucks who used all of the moves and have 100% touchwork. Dory looked dominant here and got the Funks the victory.
Misawa/Kobashi defeated Kawada/Taue when Kobashi hit Taue with the Orange Crush at 29:00. Kawada tried to break up the pin but was met by a Misawa Emerald Erosion. Great match that received a 100% rating.
Bigelow/Vader defeated Mutoh/Hase when Bigelow CRITICAL'd Motoh with the Greetings from Asbury Park at 19:05. The match received a 75% rating.
Brody/Hansen defeated Liger/Sasuke in a BS finish. Hansen was being counted out of the ring and finally got into the ring at 18 seconds. As that happened, Brody threw Sasuke out of the ring and proceeded to count out Sasuke even though he only was out of the ring for 2 seconds. This will lead up to Liger/Sasuke getting a title shot against the winner due to the bogus finsih. The match went 14:34 and received a 68% rating.
That leaves us to the second round with:
The Funks vs. Misawa/Kobashi
Bigelow/Vader vs. Brody/Hansen

In the semis...
Misawa/Kobashi defeated the Funks when Misawa got a small package on Dory Funk, Jr. at 12:09. The match received a 79% rating.
Brody/Hansen defeated Bigelow/Vader when Brody pinned Vader with the Avalanche Slam hold at 15:14. Much better match than the rating (73%) indicated. Lots of action and I thought Vader had Brody pinned a few times, but Hansen broke it up.
FINALS
Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi defeated Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody at 63:47 by a countout. Hansen was counted out and Kobashi was counted in. At about the 30 minute mark it came down to Kobashi vs. Hansen, neither could pin the other as Misawa and Brody were breaking it up. Hansen and Brody had the advantage for the first 25 minutes of the match, but Misawa & Kobashi rallied with a series of attacks outside the ring. The match received a 99% rating. Dave Meltzer gives this a million billion stars. So far, looking like the 2 best tag teams in the entire Fire Pro Wrestling Alliance.
