BREAKING NEWS: VIC BARON HAS BEEN FOUND
Vic Baron, who has been MIA for weeks after disappearing from Pioneer Hall after his match at Warrior Grounds, was found without clothes on the side of Highway 101 near the Richmond Bridge. Baron was able to flag down a California Highway patrol car while walking along the shoulder of the road. Baron was then taken to a local hospital and is currently still under observation.
Reporters were not allowed to speak to Baron directly, but sources close to the situation say that Vic seems relatively unharmed. That source did not have any knowledge of where exactly Baron has been, and who/what was behind his disappearance. That source was also claims Vic was insistent that no charges be filed. There was allegedly a quote from Vic that could be heard from outside the hospital room while he was being interviewed by the police: “I don’t need you guys, I don’t need the police. This will get handled another way.”
Warrior Pro Wrestling and Tank McDaniel released a statement:

We plan to not only give you the hard hitting action you have come to expect from Warrior Pro Wrestling, but also the exciting wonder of lucha from Lucha POWER. First off, next week, on February 22nd- Warrior Grounds #9 (pre-taped) hit the road for the first time ever, and take place inside the historic Arena de Antiguo in Mexico City. This Friday, for the first time ever, Warrior Grounds leaves its typical home in San Jose, California and travels south of the border to Mexico City. It will be there, in the infamous Arena de Antiguo that Warrior Pro will clash with Lucha POWER in what will be an excellent showcase of the two budding promotions, as well as a fantastic preview of what’s to come at the Lucha POWER Supershow on March 7th. In addition to the confirmed matches, Vic Baron is expected to make his first public statements since his mysterious disappearance.
Match Previews: Doctor Dorado vs Yoshi TayakiTayaki’s time in Warrior Pro heated up at New Dawn when he viciously attacked Lefty McDaniel after his match. He now faces the veteran Doctor Dorado in his first singles match for his new promotion. Will the AAW veteran find a new victim to take his rage out on? Or will the wily luchador prove you need more than bloodlust to survive outside the confines of a New Jersey deathmatch promotion? The Gold Standard (Jack Gold and Stan Classic) vs Lobo Muerte/Viper LopezJack Gold seems to be aligning himself with the Wonderland Dojo in an attempt to find his “new standard” and Stan Classic appears to be the mentor Austin Baron wasn’t. But their first test will be a difficult one, facing off against two impressive young Lucha POWER stars in Viper Lopez and Lobo Muerte. This match has four wrestlers all looking to make a name or themselves and prove they deserve a shot at the next level. Cross Promotional Tag: Doc Wyatt (w/Brick) & Pantero Negro Jr. vs Hexagon Jr. & Rampage HunterThe main event will pit all four championship match participants together in a star studded tag team match. Warrior Pro’s first show outside US soil was an eventful one. Besides building hype for the Lucha POWER Supershow that is less than 2 weeks away, the crowd also got some answers as to what exactly happened to Vic Baron, as well as an invasion from a rival promotion that could have larger ripple effects in the future… As always, scroll down for all the matches, recaps, and angles... Doctor Dorado vs Yoshi Tayaki Recap: A contrast in styles, the deathmatch specialist didn’t seem at all bothered by the faster paced lucha veteran. Dr. Dorado- working his second match in as many days after a surprise appearance in Le Guerra- looked sharp early on, but he could not escape the hard charging Tayaki, who seemed to simply wait until Dorado got in range to unleash his powerful offense. In the end, Dorado would absorb a devastating frog splash that would prove too much to overcome.
Winner: Yoshi Tayaki

After the match Tayaki would continue the assault on Dr. Dorado. With security swarming the ring, Tayaki seemed to remember his real intention, and halted the beating. Out of this pants he pulled a lighter and a picture of Lefty McDaniel, lighting the picture on fire while screaming “THIS IS NOT OVER” before heading to the back. Vic Baron makes his way to the ring. As he walks through the ropes, a man leaps the guard rail from the crowd and enters the ring. It’s none other than Machine Gun Mayhem- still sporting his Baron Wrestling Family T-shirt… Vic charges at Machine Gun and he retreats outside the ring. Machine Gun quickly grabs a mic as Vic implores him to get back into the ring.Vic drops the mic and leaves the ring. MGM stands motionless until Vic is backstage, then exits through the crowd…Recap: The debut match for The Gold Standard was an impressive one. Both teams came out firing right from the start, and it looked like for a time the random pairing of Viper Lopez and Lobo Muerte might have enough to pull out the victory. But Jack Gold and Stan Classic looked like a well-oiled machine, a tag team that had been together for years, working tags seamlessly and keeping the match in their corner. Lobo would make a late push and even hit Gold with the reverse phoenix splash, only for Gold to grab the ropes. After both teams would make a tag, and a series of closelines from the big Classic would prove to be the finish.
Winner: The Gold Standard
Rating: *** After the match, Gold Standard celebrate their victory as they make their way backstage. Viper and Lobo stay in the ring, licking their wounds when suddenly standing on the stage, unannounced…. ZDM from La Guerra- back together in full. The crowd pops at the surprise appearance, and the rudos slowly walk down to the ring pointing and shouting at both Viper and Lobo. As all four lucha’s stand in the ring, suddenly Doctor Dorado races from the back to even the odds, as both teams now proceed to stare each other down… All six wrestlers start exchanging words, tension escalating before a loudly audible “FUCK YOU” comes from one of the ZDM boys, follow by all hell breaking loose… The brawl spills out of the ring and into the crowd, where eventually it seems to dissipate. After a short huddle, Warrior Pro officials call for the next match.
Cross Promotional Tag: Doc Wyatt (w/Brick) & Pantero Negro Jr. vs Hexagon Jr. & Rampage HunterRecap: The main even proved to be the match of the night, with all four men showing off their offensive repertoire, and hitting finishers for nearfalls. It seemed that Hexagon Jr might have sealed the deal a couple of times, but Brick’s constant interference in the match kept the ref distracted enough to avoid any serious pin fall. In the end, it was a Destino on Rampage after a distraction from both Doc and Brick that allowed Pantero Negro Jr to grab the pin fall victory over the Warrior Pro champion
Winner: Doc Wyatt & Pantero Negro Jr.
Rating: ***
After the match… Doc took a couple of extra cheap shots on Rampage before continuing to celebrate with Brick as they walked to the back. Pantero and Hexagon then faced off nose to nose as the show went off the air…

A rather large group of reporters sit around as both owners of Warrior Pro Wrestling and Lucha Power sit at the head of the table flanked by the participants of each upcoming championship bought: Doc Wyatt and Pantero Negro Jr to the owner’s right, Rampage Hunter and Hexagon Jr. to their left.

In a little over a week, On Thursday March 7th @5pm PT Lucha POWER hosts its first Supershow broadcast LIVE on TWITCH from this very arena. We will have all the exciting lucha that fans have known and loved for decades, and we will bring you the best in not only Lucha POWER, but from all the great promotions in Mexico and beyond. Reporter: Can you address the rumors that Lucha Power is in financial danger? El Macho: This El Macho will answer very quickly. There is no financial danger. Lucha POWER is muy strong. Lucha POWER teams with Tank McDaniel- and has all of Mexico watching. There is no danger senor. Reporter: But there have been rumors that there is another investor, is there any truth to that? El Macho: No danger senor. Next question. Reporter: Doc, how do you feel heading into your rematch? How will your approach differ from the last time you two fought? Doc: For starters? I’ll win. I should have never lost. I’m in this position because Tank allowed it. Because he was a bias ref with an agenda, and a bias owner who kept booking this match until Rampage won. There is no messing around here. That walking pile of crap has been carrying around my belt for almost two months. I want it back. You all him get pinned last week. He’s not a champion. He doesn’t deserve to wear my title around his waist. I’m going to fix that next week. Reporter: Rampage- how do you prepare for a match with someone you are now very familiar with? Rampage: Man, you all realize that last time that motherfucker beat Rampage? October. He runnin his mouth like I somehow lucked out getting this belt and he ain’t been able to pin me since October. He aint even the one that got this match. That big motherfucker won the match for him. Rampage should be beating HIS ass next week. Don’t make no difference to me though. I’m gonna do what Rampage always do, smash fools and win matches. This belt aint going nowhere. Rampage era is for the long term. Can tell you one thing for sure. The countdown is on, and we are only a few short days away from Lucha POWER: SUPERSHOW. Thursday sports a stacked card, and a showcase for not only the host promotion, but for a string of promotions from all over the Critical Alliance. And if that wasn’t enough, two world titles are on the line, as both Warrior Pro and Lucha POWER championships will be decided in a double main event. Lucha POWER: Supershow will be broadcast LIVE on Twitch this Thursday at 5pm PT.Match Previews: El Macho vs Captain Insano Jr. (ZIP Japan)Captain Insano Jr doesn’t come out of his mostly retired state for just any match. Shockingly, these two lucha legends have never squared off against each other, but will for the first time to kick off this show. Don’t let the ages fool you, both men can absolutely still- this could be the dark horse pick for match of the night. Dungeon Dominguez vs Lucha La Barba (Wonderland Dojo)Lucha La Barba has made quite the name for himself in Warrior Pro Wrestling, enough that it caught the attention of Dungeon Dominguez. While LLB has made a reputation of putting opponents away early, Dungeon may prove a more difficult task. The Lucha big man is undefeated so far in the promotion, and a win over the Warrior Pro wunderkid could be enough to launch him into the title picture. Lobo Muerte/Doctor Dorado/Viper Lopez vs ZDM (La Guerra de Sangre)There sure are layers to this match. Doc Dorado made a cameo appearance at the tournament finals for La Guerra, only to get jumped back stage after his match. The resident rudo bad boys ZDM took the appearance as a declaration of war and invited themselves to Warrior Grounds to confront the Lucha Power roster. What they found were a group of game combatants, led by the veteran Dorado. This one is about promotion pride, and we’ll get to see which promotion earns bragging rights with a victory. Warrior Pro Heavyweight Championship: “Gentleman” Doc Wyatt vs Rampage HunterTo say these two have history would be an understatement. This will be the forth time Rampage and Doc fight over the Warrior Pro championship belt, and this will serve as the rubber match after both men picked up a win- and a third match ended in a no contest. Rampage is coming off his first title defense in a MotY candidate against John Logan, while Doc has used outside help to earn his rematch. Expect both men to leave everything in the ring in what could be the last time both men face each other for a while.
Community Lucha 6 man tag: Misterio Guerrero (TIPWF)/Machismo (SHTCWA)/Suerte Mariachi (Blackrose
Wrestling) vs Silver Hawk (Wrestle Parade) /El Evergringo (Evergreen Wrestling)/ Jaguar Dorado (Typhoon Pro)A community showcase as lucha representatives from all over the world (and space/time continuum) battle it out in an all-star six man tag. While this one is for bragging rights, it acts as a unique opportunity to see these 6 men in a ring at the same time… Lucha POWER Championship: Pantero Negro Jr. vs Hexagon Jr.The main event sees two of the top stars in the promotion face off for the vacant championship. Both men have a different idea of what the top spot in the promotion will look like, and the winner likely will help pave the path of the promotion in the coming months. This one promises to be lighting in a bottle, with both men keeping the pace fast and furious, and likely will come down to who ends up making the crucial mistake. BREAKING NEWS:The Wrestling Monitor has learned through multiple sources that Lucha POWER has a silent financial backer that is outside the company. In 2017 when El Macho bought the company it was largely assumed he was the sole financial backer, but it is now believed that his purchase was largely staked as a loan from a still unknown third party. Through documents acquired by the Monitor, it can be assumed that this third party may actually have a financial stake in Lucha POWER- and that stake may in fact be larger than El Macho, though at this point that has not been confirmed. This news comes on the eve of the biggest Lucha POWER show in over 5 years, and is expected to be a jumping point for the upstart promotion, where rumors of financial struggle have been present since El Macho took over. One of the reasons for the partnership with Warrior Pro Wrestling was an expectation that American exposure would help with attendance, which seems to be accurate given that this Thursday’s show is expected to sell out. As of now the identity of the financial backer is unknown, but speculation is sure to take us to some common suspects throughout the Alliance. The Monitor will be continuing to investigate this story and its implications as the story develops.

Tonight's the night as Lucha POWER hosts its first Supershow- showcasing all the talent and entertainment this small promotion has to offer, as well as a heavy guest list of luchadors from throughout the Critical Alliance. And if that wasnt enough, both the Lucha POWER and Warrior Pro championships will be on the line. Preshow might kick off a little earlier, we'll see (it's lucha- time is relative). Despite a last minute venue change, a promotion invasion, and rumors swirling around the owner regarding impending financial disaster, Lucha POWER’s Supershow was largely a success. Champions were crowned, upsets were had, and Lucha from all over the Critical Alliance were showcased. Scroll down for all the matches, recaps, and post-match angles from the show… Pre-Show: “Perfection” Jack Gold vs Rip ReedRecap: A preview into what will likely be the number one contender match for the Warrior Pro Tag Team Titles. Both men came out aggressive and with their partners in their respective corners. Gold has looked focused and relentless since training at the Wonderland Dojo, and it showed here as he dominated from bell to bell, finishing Reed off with a 24Karat senton for the win.
Winner: Jack Gold

After the match both teams entered the ring to face off, jawing back and forth- appearing to confirm rumors that a Reeds vs Gold Standard tag match is forthcoming…
El Macho vs Captain Insano Jr. (ZIP Japan)Recap: Easily match of the night. Both of these legends went at each other from the start, appearing to turn back the clock to their heyday. Macho and Insano’s arsenal’s seemed to at times actually mirror each other, as both men would exchange performing the same move to each other. In the end though, Captain Insano would hit a tope rope frankenstiener right into the rollup for the win.
Winner: Captain Insano Jr.
Rating: ****
After the match both men would embrace, with match raising Insano’s arm as the crowd gave a standing ovation to both men. Dungeon Dominguez vs Lucha La BarbaRecap: The “3 Minute Sensation” was looking to keep his streak alive against the ultra dangerous big man, which proved to be no easy task. Again and again LLB focused on rolling up the imposing Dungeon, yet time after time the strategy failed. But La Barba also proved to the people that he was more than a one trick pony, using his impressive strength to keep the big man off his feet and unbalanced. In the end though, it would be a small mistake by La Barba, leaving a window of opportunity, that Dungeon capitalized reversing a top rope move into a powerbomb off the ropes for the pin fall.
Winner: Dungeon Dominguez
Rating: *** Lobo Muerte/Doctor Dorado/Viper Lopez vs ZDM (La Guerra de Sangre)Recap: A cross promotional battle with pride on the line. This one was a slugfest as the rudos of ZDM attempted to use their size advantage to out muscle the smaller, quicker Team Lucha POWER. But the strategy backfired as ZDM looked to tire late in the match, and their teamwork seemed rusty given their only recent reunion. More interesting perhaps, was the match within the match between Dr. Dorado and El Descosido. It was Descosido that jumped Dorado backstage at a La Guerra show, and it was Descosido that Dorado seemed to continually seek out during the match. And it would be Descosido that Dr Dorado would rollup and pin for the Team Lucha POWER victory…
Winner: Team Lucha POWER
Rating: ***
After the match, a brawl would break out as ZDM would bring chairs into the ring and chase off the victors. Tons of jawing back and forth from both sides as the crowd loudly booed the visiting ZDM… Warrior Pro Heavyweight Championship: “Gentleman” Doc Wyatt vs Rampage HunterRecap: This was not the same Doc Wyatt we saw two months ago when he dropped the title. This Doc Wyatt was focused, and relentless. Maybe it was an off night, maybe the limelight got to him, but Rampage Hunter just could never get going in this one. Doc came out on the offensive early, hitting move after move while Rampage looked flat footed and unbalanced. Despite all that, Rampage would shake off 2 “Black Gold” cutters, and a Superman punch, and look to still pick up the victory with the same Lights Out powerbomb that won him the title… except Doc kicked out. A third Black Gold would prove too much, and just like that Doc becomes the first two time Warrior Pro Champion.
Winner: Doc Wyatt

After the match, all three remaining members of the Jackson Hole Gang would come to the ring and celebrate, holding up both the Heavyweight Championship and the Tag Team belts. Doc would be hoisted on to Bricks shoulders and carried out of the ring celebrating the whole way as the crowd showered them with boos… Community Lucha 6 man tag: Misterio Guerrero (TIPWF)/Machismo (SHTCWA)/Suerte Mariachi (Blackrose Wrestling) vs Silver Hawk (Wrestle Parade) /El Evergringo (Evergreen Wrestling)/ Jaguar Dorado (Typhoon Pro)Recap: If anyone needed proof of the growing presence of excellent lucha throughout the Critical Alliance, they need look no further than this match. A showcase of talent from all over the world (and times space continuum) every participant in this match shined. In typical lucha fashion, this match ended in mayhem as all six men where in the ring, and no idea who was legal and who wasn’t. The result was a Suerte Mariachi rollup of Silverhawk for the victory.
Winner: Guerrero/Machismo/Suerte
Rating: *** Lucha POWER Championship: Pantero Negro Jr. vs Hexagon Jr.Recap: A match that had been hyped for months ended in a shocking and potentially premature manner. A ton of back and forth early, with neither side claiming a clear edge seemed to frustrate Pantero Negro- who is used to asserting his will early in matches. Perhaps still mentally scared from his loss to Lanky Lefty, Pantero turned to weapons for an edge, but Hexagon seemed ready, avoiding the shots and continuing to push the pace. Just when the match seemed to be escalating, a hurricanrana seemed to cause an unusual amount of damage to Pantero. Smelling blood Hexagon capitalized, hitting Mi Amante Mortal from the top rope for the pin.
Winner: Hexagon Jr.

After the match, Hexagon celebrated in the crowd as Pantero was looked at by the medical staff- specifically his left arm, as the show went off the air. After the show, reporters gathered outside Doc Wyatt’s dressing room waiting to get an official quote…Virgil came out of the dressing room.
An update was given on Pantero Negro Jr…X-rays to Pantero’s left arm confirm a fracture. Further tests will need to be run but his return timetable at this stage is unknown.

 G2: Golden Gate Tournament- Night One April 26thAnd finally, the tournament that started it all- the “G2” Tournament will be returning this year. Last years tournament served to kickstart Warrior Pro Wrestling and determine who would become the inaugural champion. This year the tournament goes bigger, with 16 wrestlers- from both inside and outside Warrior Pro- participating in a league style tournament for a shot at the champ. Participants will be announced over the coming weeks- and there are some big ones from all over the Critical Alliance, so stay tuned! |

The road to Badlands starts this Friday at Warrior Grounds #10, where contenders for both titles will be determined, and a Young Gun rookie makes his debut against a former champion. In addition to the card, the entire Jackson Hole Gang are expected to be in attendance and address the audience following their sweep of Warrior Pro championships. As always, a full recap of the show will be posted on Friday, including full matches, angles and promos. Match Preview: Rampage Hunter vs “Young Gun” Byron Worthy Worthy will make his Warrior Pro debut, and he’ll have a tall order facing off against the former champ in his first match since dropping the title at Lucha POWER’s Supershow. Expect this one to be an extremely physical match-up, as the former NFL lineman will need to deal with the Olympic alternates elite amateur wrestling. On paper this should be a good tune up fight for Rampage, but if he isn’t focused an upset isn’t outside the realm of possibility from the student already dubbed “Prime Time”. #1 Contender Match: Gold Standard vs Reed BrothersThe Gold Standard’s debut in Mexico was impressive, and now they return for their first stateside match against the athletic high-flying Reed Brothers. A win for either team sets up a showdown with the inaugural tag team champions, and would help establish the new and growing tag team division. #1 Contender Match: Yoshi Tayaki vs “Lanky” Lefty McDaniel (No DQ)This one is more than a little personal. After Lanky Lefty’s war with Pantero Negro at New Dawn, Yoshi Tayaki brutally beat down the veteran, crying out for respect in his new promotion. Tayaki has continued to voice what he feels is an unfair shake since being traded from AAW- directing all his rage at the nephew of the Warrior Pro owner. Now he gets what he wants, a shot at the title- but he’ll have to get through Lanky Lefty, who has promised a bloodbath on his way to a long-awaited rematch with Doc Wyatt. |
