To be fair... the map is very friendly. There are multiple warp points and save points, and you can pull up the map at any time to see where you're at. It's grid based due to verticality, so you can pop the map up and count and say, 3 rooms left, 1 room down to the warp room, then i'll go 2 rooms left to get back to the chamber room. And you can fly/float which helps to zoom past the areas you've already explored. That's pretty reasonable for a Metroidvania. And I kinda can't resist a well-made Lodoss game. But I'll probably wait until the official release version anyway. I'm overloaded to the goose gills with games! 🎮🦆

I remember a former coworker accidentally bought a laserdisc thinking it was a vinyl once.
Why he thought an act as visual as Penn & Teller would be on vinyl, I still don't know.

Deep Rock Galactic has diverted my attention from everything else at the moment. Leveling up my Dwarf crew and unlocking new game types and sweetening my weapons and gear is addicting. Loving some of the new missions I've come across, including beast hunts and salvage operations. Got my brothers and some friends all playing now and group games are intense. We're now just getting into the more hazardous biomes full of environmental dangers including radioactive zones, freezing glaciers, desert winds that can blow you over cliffs, sand, rain and snow storms and unstable tectonics in lava biomes where earth quakes can cause stalactites to break free from cave ceilings and impale Dwarves, or great chasms will rip open the ground to fire and lava pits. One operation a mission item I was salvaging fell into one of these chasms and I had to maneuver my way down into a lava pit to retrieve it. Also just discovered finding remains of other Dwarf expeditions and salvaging some nice gear they left behind.

Just finished OUTER WILDS last night. Not Outer Worlds, that game was kinda crap.
OUTER WILDS was definitely something. It felt like No Man's Sky meets Psychonauts in a weird way, but definitely very much its own thing. It's only similar to those games in parts. As a whole, it's a very unique experience. You definitely have to play it without knowing any spoilers AT ALL going in, and you need to try to get as far as you can without looking up any guides or hints. Definitely recommended if you like good writing, unique concepts, puzzles, and lots and lots of sleuthing with trial and error.

Just finished OUTER WILDS last night. Not Outer Worlds, that game was kinda crap. Yeah, I really didn't dig Outer Worlds that much for all the buzz around it. It had some neat ideas as far as the leveling system, but I just could not get invested in the world or characters, which to me is the more important part of an RPG. Everyone and every group you meet just seems like a goofy parody, either too laughably corrupt to function or too idiotic to live. Giving me lots of choices doesn't matter if I don't care about the outcome. I've meant to check out Outer Wilds since I first heard about it. Seems interesting but I wasn't sure how the time loop mechanic was in practice. Something like that has to be done REALLY well to be good. But I did play Hotel Dusk back in the day on your recommendation and I really liked it, so I'll probably give Outer Wilds a spin.

The only people I've seen really bounce off if it are ones that knew about the time limit and rushed themselves from the start. So don't worry about the time loop until you got a puzzle that you bump into a time constraint. And if you like time loops done well Minit is a small game with a good time loop. Yet to play it myself (just recently got it I think in a bundle) but I've heard good things. Kinda classic Zelda like if I remember correctly.

I didn't even know that going in. All I knew was... space exploration like No Man's Sky but with 0 randomness and an actual ending. That's all I needed to know. As for the game itself... I would've designed a few things differently. Some 'hints' are more obtuse than the developer probably thought and some parts are a little janky. I immersed myself in it 100% and put myself in the protagonist's shoes and walked away with some genuine emotions and deep thoughts that stuck with me hours after playing. You gotta read, you gotta invest, and you gotta just take it as it comes with no rushing. Yeah there's a time constraint but you can play 90% of the game without ever having to worry about it. And I never did anything that wiped my save or reset any real progress so feel free to experiment.

Crosscode. Oh my god, Crosscode. Seiken Densetsu meets Hyper Light Drifter with MMO style questing and RPG xp/skill/party/equipment mechanics and a very interesting / charming story and characters. Been waiting to get it on console for a while and it finally dropped... and it was worth the wait.

Just picked up River City Girls yesterday and been playing it with my daughter. Love beat em ups. No long, boring tutorials, just pick up and play fun. Before that, I was also into Blazing Chrome. Another good game.

Well if you've heard any news at all about Ghost of Tsushima you already know it's pretty much killing it in the review department and being cited as the PS4's best possible send off for the Playstation's current generation of consoles. Yong Yea does a nice comprehensive review.
My Steelbook edition just shipped today.

Played it for about 4 hours yesterday. Coming from The Last of US II, the opening is a very rough start due to how Sucker Punch does their pacing and cutscenes. But once the game "opens up" and you can go where you want... it's glorious. The tech / skill / stance tree is going to fun to unlock, and the world is very rewarding to explore. Lovin' it so far.

I was hoping to see some feedback, this game should be right up my alley, the reviews have been very positive, and I really like sucker punch, but somehow I just haven’t given two shits about it. I’m very stoked for last of us, the first one still haunts me constantly, I keep wanting to play it again, but I’ve got to hit that backlog! Please post more impressions of ghost of tsushima when you have time! 🙂

Wow, the fighting really looks incredible and I love Kurosawa mode!
I recently got back into Red Dead 2 so I'm going to try to (finally) finish that before the 2 year mark 😳
Ghost of Tsushima will definitely be the next big game that I play âš”
