Taking advantage of Steams holiday sales before they end in a day or two, picked up the entire Max Payne collection. I actually have the PS3 version of Max Payne both digitally and physically on PS3 as well as Max Payne 3, and Max Payne 2 on Xbox, but for the price the collection was being offered I might as well have them where I can play them all in one place. Also the PS3 version of Max Payne has some brutal load times and frame rates at times. Picked up the Xcom collection as well. Own them all on console, but the price on PC was too good to pass up. Finally picked up GTFO which just went early access. Co-Op 4 player survival horror from the guys behind the Pay Day series. Getting Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on steam and looks like a more sci fi version of Left 4 Dead.

Trying to chip away at the backlog and finally get into some of the classics, I decided to give Resident Evil 4 a go. I tried it back in the day on the Gamecube and thought it was pretty bad ass, but it was a rental (remember those?...) and never finished it. Fast forward to now, got through the first part of the village at the beginning of the game and ended up with pretty bad motion sickness. I think the stopping to aim and the zooming in and out got me, it snuck up and smashed me pretty hard. Tried again a few days later and same deal. At least one game is off the backlog.
The same shit happened to me with the orange box Xbox version of half-life 2 (which I was absolutely loving until that happened) and timesplitters future perfect. Luckily it’s not often that it happens, but it’s sucks when it does, I was really enjoying RE4.
Back to stinkin’ ass rocket league I guess. 😪

I've been interested in GTFO for a while. Let me know if it's any good. :)

Danganronpa for me lately. It's like Phoenix Wright crossed with an anime and turned into a murder visual novel.

Almost completely through Terminator Resistance. Not a 'bad' game, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it great either. From the same developers of that awful Rambo rail shooter that was released a few years ago, they at least attempt to not squander their licensing this time around by actually trying to make a game. How you fuck up a Rambo game in this day and age is astounding. Someone just threw a crap game together to try and cash in license, like every other Rambo game that currently exists I guess.
Great setting, I always wanted a Terminator game set during the future war of John Connor's resistance vs Skynet, which is probably why I also owned Terminator 2 the Arcade game on SNES which was actually a rail shooter.
I bought the game at full retail price but realistically should have only paid half that. Comes off as a budget title with amateurish voice acting and facial motion capture; and fairly linear gameplay with optional fluff side quests thrown in for flavor. Some of the gameplay mechanics like weapon customization seem really pointless but I do like being able to loot scrap and Skynet technology from the machines to boost my own gear.
Sound is great in that it captures the ominous tone of the brief future battle sequences seen in both Terminator and Terminator 2 flashbacks and a bit of expanded lore which I think was derived from some of the Terminator comics. Especially the Terminator's capturing humans to use a guinea pigs for experiments and to revise their own war machines on being more effective killers, i.e. the Infiltrator Terminators, one of which we briefly see in the original Terminator film . It doesn't ruin any Terminator world building the way all the movies past T2 did and stays in line with the oldschool Terminator lore and I actually liked that the story explains how after Judgement Day the war was a fairly gradual process that took years before machines actually started showed up hunting people down and the Resistance armies forming to fight them off.
Probably worth playing it if you have an affinity for the first two Terminator movies, but definitely wait for a sale or discount.

I picked up the Arcade Apocalypse Bundle that contains Ultratron and Titan Attacks for the PS4 last time it was on sale (around $5 CAN or so). Both are nods to arcade classics, Ultratron to robotron and titan attacks to space invaders. uprezed neon interpretations of the old stuff that is very playable and fun with great controls and a great price! So yeah, if you’re a fan of space invaders or robotron, check this cool little bundle by puppygames out!

Since Metro:Exodus is now out on steam, I started playing it yesterday and so far it's really fun. Anyone else played it yet?

Bayonetta/Vanquish Bundle arrived. Street Fighter V Championship Edition arrived. Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remaster bundle arrived. Before the end of February I still have the Mega Man Zero Collection to arrive as well as One Punch Man releasing Feb 28th. Also started playing a little strategy game on Steam called Radio Commander. Pretty interesting premise. Set in Vietnam you're a headquarter radio operator that relays orders to ground troops. The gameplay literally involved looking at a map and talking to your ground troops in the field, relaying orders to platoons for fire support and medevac choppers. It's become pretty intense and addictive.

Bayonetta/Vanquish Bundle arrived. Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remaster bundle arrived. Sweet. Please give impressions of the platinum thingy, especially if you have played either before! I want that Yakuza bundle, I stalled on Yakuza Zero, not for lack of interest but for lack of gaming time. the (second) last of us, Yakuza bundle, and vanquish/bayonetta are all I’m really interested in this year. I’d be all over animal crossing next month if I had a switch, but $400 is too steep an entry point for a three year old console that still sells games on cartridges.

Zombie Army 4 showed up today. Have two more shifts left until I am on vacation and then I have a whole month to try and get some of these games off the backlog.

I always look forward to your winter vacation to hear about the games you get to play! 😁
Especially when the snow storms wait for your time to begin and then go away right before work again.
Nothing like having an entire month to relax and play games while the weather outside is unreasonable! ❄

Even people say at work they know when to prepare for a snow storm, because it usually happens the day I come back from vacation. It's happened like the last three or four years without fail. This year I postponed my vacation a few weeks in the hopes of having FFVII Remake to play, so I will literally be coming back to work just after the official start of spring.
Unlikely to have a storm when I come back this year, but not impossible. Actually the last few winters have been really light on the snow storms, but about five years ago we were having a blizzard every two or three days in February and the snow piled up so high at work that it actually blocked out the front office windows of the buildings. This was the February that made me start booking all my vacations afterward for the month of February.
I have so much on the backlog I know I will never get through it all. This vacation all I will be doing is spring workouts, playing video games and finally getting around to cleaning out the entire upper floor of my house which my family has been using for storage the last few years. I'm officially out of room and need to order a new bookcase and new blu ray shelves as mine are currently filled to capacity and PS4 games and blu ray movies are piling up in stacks all over my bedroom.
