Now I am trying to get passed the mounted Samurai. I noted his horse his named Onikage. Tenchu reference!!! Onikage! Nice! Let me know if Tesshu or Echigoya show up, I still can’t get past the big, sweepy samurai dude at the start of the game, and all of my npc’s have the ninja AIDS. I was hoping to see some Tenchu references, but between dying a million times and causing an npc plague, I guess I will just have to read about said references till my FROM software gaming balls drop and I can make a go at Sekiro. Like OG, I don’t think I have the patience or the time to invest in more complicated action games. I love the idea of games more than playing them these days. I will give Sekiro another few gos though! PS: just simmed a barbed wire deathmatch in FPW, Ishii and Honma are five star match machines in this game! Witnessed my first 100% D.K.O. 15 minute mark explosion draw after both of these savages bloodied each other and had a 2.9 count, no-sell, finisher kickout festival! I wish I would have recorded it! What an amazing match! 🙂

Found my first Interior Ministry Ninja in Sekiro. Apparently there are something like 17 of these guys scattered throughout the game. Took about a dozen tries to kill this guy and found that oil and fire worked really well taking him out. He was guarding the mist feather so now I have that cool ability which would have made the fight against Juzou so much easier if I had it by then.
I've been fighting Lady Butterfly now. I knew something was up when she seemed relatively easy to fight and of course this being a soulsborne game, she's one of those bosses you have to fight in phases, so now I'm figuring out her phase 2 weaknesses. Was working night shifts Friday and all weekend and sleeping all day today so I will have to do a couple grind throughs and look for some secrets to get my fighting skills back up before I go after her again.

Scared to go back to Sekiro right now, so I started looking at my backlog ( while I decide if I should grab origins on the low low), and remembered I picked up dmc: devil May cry by ninja theory ages ago for less than ten canuckistani kopeks! I’m not a graphics whore, and the game looks great, but I think between Spider-Man, Sekiro, forza horizon 4 and rdr2, the remastered last gen game is starting to show its age a bit. That minor, first world gripe aside, the game is great, very tight and intuitive controls, great sound and music, great, creepily lit interactive levels reminiscent of John Carpenter’s They Live (in purgatory, there are hidden subliminal messages under the store signs), and best of all...
an ANXIETY FREE skill progression system that lets you allocate points, remove them if you decide you don’t like your choice, and re allocate them elsewhere! You can even test the move out before heading back into the game! Every action rpg game should have this system, part of my stalling with a play through of the Witcher 3 and starting with fallout 4 is being overwhelmed with irreversible skill tree choices and regretting picking one over the other with my hard earned points. Awesome system, kudos to ninja theory!
Just finished the first level, Fun boss fight, and the new take on the devil may cry combat system is a lot of fun! Can’t believe the hate this title garnered on release.

I'm more concerned about the fact that Hunter's nipples are like 3/4 of the way down his torso. WTF is even going on there

Judging from the background I'd say domestic bliss.

I've got World War Z halfway downloaded, gonna leave it downloading over night and I am now off shift until Monday night, so can just leave the PS4 downloading until it's done.

World War Z done downloading, gonna try that tonight. In Sekiro I finally beat Lady Butterfly. Took at LEAST 30 tries, maybe more. It got to the point where I could beat her first phase without even taking a hit, but I would always botch on her second phase. Also beat the mounted Samurai after about three tries. So far I found him the easiest boss as you just need to avoid him until you can use your hookshot to pull you in and get some hits. He's pretty easy to avoid and dodge. Now I'm up to that giant bull. I have the firecracker prosthetic now and that is supposed to be especially effective on animals so I will be trying that later today.
EDIT: The Blazing Bull is dead. Only took about ten tries.

Got a little time invested in World War Z, which follows the movie and not the book if anyone was wondering. It's basically a third person Left 4 Dead. So if you're a fan of Left 4 Dead you're in luck. Fortunately I love the Left 4 Dead games and will be getting the upcoming Back 4 Blood successor when it comes out.
But in the meantime, especially if you're a console player who never got to experience any of the Left 4 Dead games, you can finally have a Left 4 Dead like experience. Like Left 4 Dead, while you can play with bots, it's definitely a game meant to be played with other people. One thing my brothers and I used to do and sometimes still do is play through the Left 4 Dead games on the insane hardest difficulty, usually knowing we weren't going to survive most of the time, but just to see how far we could get or if any of us would make it to the end of the level. The game is one of those games that is still fun even if you don't survive because you always have great stories to tell and once in a while you will be that one guy who makes it out alive.
It has a lot of the same beats the Left 4 Dead games have from spawning hordes, chokepoint defense portions in levels and the typical gather a certain amount of an item to bring to an area or fix a piece of machinery to escape. Even a lot of the special zombie types are ripped right from the Left 4 Dead special types. The swarm mechanics are pretty neat to see, where hundreds of zombies basically create human pyramids as they scramble over each other to get up walls to get at you, and you'll often be hit from multiple directions at once keeping the tension levels high.
Controls feel a bit wonky at first and you have to get used to the shooting mechanics, especially coming from Left 4 Dead where you used a mouse and a keyboard for hyper accuracy, running and gunning in this game should only be used in desperate times like when you're making that final run to the finish. Otherwise it's good to hunker down and clear out a horde before moving on. Especially with limited ammo and you want to waste as little as possible between ammo cache's.
What it doesn't have from Left 4 Dead is being able to continue to shoot your pistols when you go down and are waiting to be revived. Kinda missed that because sometimes you're down a while waiting to be picked up and in Left 4 Dead you can still fend off the hordes with your pistols.
However what WWZ has that Left 4 Dead doesn't is character classes all with their own progression trees of unlockable skills unique to each of the class types which definitely adds to the replayability of game. Also a much larger assortment of weapons complete with customization options to really help you style up your character with a customized build.
The zombies themselves are more like the infected in Left 4 Dead in that you don't need to shoot them in the head to the kill them. You can hit them anywhere and they will die and they are also fast and pretty super human like the infected instead of Resident Evil styled shambling zombies. But overall it does capture that same level of tension as Left 4 Dead does which is really what I was looking for. Once I get used to the game and all the levels it will definitely be one I try on the hardest difficulty just to see how far I can get.

Has anyone else ever heard of this game? store.steampowered.com/app/846110/The_friends_of_Ringo_Ishikawa/It looks like a River City Ransom clone but with more RPG elements for a "life of a student." The main criticisms I've heard from Steam reviews is that there are no directions/instructions given as to how to play or what to do. But the fighting looks really good for a side scroller, even held to the high RCR standard.

I am going to get it on switch at some point.

Thanks. It's $15 on Steam now so I think I'll wait for a sale 😎
That's cool that it's on the Switch too!
If Nintendo really does put out a lower priced version, I may be all over that! 😁

I like that it looks more like Renegade than RCR, as much as I love that game, pugilistic arts and tobacco smoking with high schoolers is much more entertaining in higher resolution. I will definitely look further into this one, but will have to wait for a PS4 release. Thanks for mentioning it here! 🙂 Now we just need a super dodgeball game like this!
