I’m currently playing Assassins Creed Oddysee. I never bothered with the previous games in the series so I can’t compare them but I’m really into this one. It’s just a lot of fun. Kinda reminds me of Witcher 3 which is an all time favorite.
Also near Endgame in Final Fantasy 12 zodiac Age. I beat the game when the original was released but only cause it was Final Fantasy and that’s just what I did back then. I remember hating the Gambit system. Especially since I thought the series reached its apex in Final Fantasy X with its battle system. This time around I really dig this game although I think Vaan is terrible.
Picking up a New Game + on Tales of Xillia on ps3. It’s been a few years so it’s like new again. Looking forward to playing Xillia 2 after since I throughly enjoyed that one.
Cosmic Star Heroin on Switch is a neat little throwback.
Xenoblade on Wii (U) playing the series backwards. Gotta find time for it
Trails in the Sky on my PlayStation TV
I like RPGs

I LOVED Sleeping Dogs! I played Skyrim almost exclusively for over a year, with the ALMOST part coming when I threw Sleeping Dogs into the mix. One of the few games I 100%ed, the music, the fighting, the interactive environments (table saw to the FACE combo!), the foot and car chases, the world itself, all awesomely executed! I even remember busting into it again once I realized I'd done it all in Skyrim and nothing else could scratch the itch! Anyone here who missed Sleeping Dogs, GRAB IT! It goes on ridiculous sales all of the time (less that $10), and if you are into really awesome games (with a Rocksteady Batman game type hand to hand combat system) and having a great time, you should probably play it! I was just coming off Red Dead and was convinced that no other game was going to touch it for years. Then I downloaded the free demo for Sleeping Dogs and was completely blown away. Bought it that night and played it for the next few years about as much as I did Red Dead. I still count Red Dead as my favorite game of that generation but Sleeping Dogs is a very close #2. Sleeping Dogs was like the perfect combination of River City Ransom/Final Fight with GTA. The fighting, the music, the environments, the GRAPPLE + RUN + THROW command, just everything was spot on. The story was awesome too and took some turns I never expected but enjoyed. Love the martial arts tournaments too!

I've just started to play the retro inspired FPS-game DUSK, really cool so far! Music, setting and gameplay is great!

Heh, I worked on Sleeping Dogs & Arkham Asylum. True story.. the combat from the AJPW (SQUENIX) games was an inspiration. I also worked on Just Cause 2 for any open world fans!

Holy shit, loved all of those (played the crap out of all three and kept heading back for more Just Cause 2). Sleeping Dogs was awesome, I loved the music, especially the title screen music. The title screen riff with the pipa sample blew my mind! I like traditional Chinese music (not sure how it happened, but I dig a lot of different cultures' traditional music, maybe being exposed to it by friends as a kid opened my eyes), so hearing that song with the pipa sample in a great remix was really fun. It really captured the vibe of the game, modern, tough shit in a modern, metropolitan city with strong and pervasive ties to old and strong culture, awesome stuff!

Just simmed Honma/Ishii for the NEVER open weight title. Match went 24'26" with Ishii winning the title with a lariatoh and a 99% match evaluation! This sucker was almost as good as that match I linked from 2015! Jebus I wish FPW had the old rosters of FPD/FPR etc, I miss being able to use all of those guys!!! Awesome stuff!

God of War was, well, great.
Anyone play Kenshi? It's sort of like a post-apocalyptic Mount & Blade, far as being a wide open sandbox with no quests/story other than what you make yourself. It's some addicting shit if you're into that style of gaming.

Preview of upcoming 2019 strategy games to be released. Some I don't care about, but some I am really hyped for.

100 hours later, I'm still playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey and finding new things that make reference to the myths and legends of classical Greece including
encounters with mythical creatures such as THE MINOTAUR (Labyrinth included), THE SPHINX (answered her riddles perfectly!), and a friggin Medusa (neat lore about this one; in-game, it's a curse that gets passed along) [\spoiler]
I've beaten one of the three primary questlines and am chipping away at the others with a lot of random sidequest and exploration left to go.
I think it's safe to say that this is the most fun I've had with an Assassin's Creed game (played all but three of the previous main-line).

Haven't read the spoiler, but otherwise holy crap really? I've been so sad from watching gameplay videos here and there that I wasn't immediately drawn and addicted to wanting to play it. It's literally my favorite time period and place and military stylings. And I just finished watching all the old God of War playthroughs, so extra hyped on the ancient Greek thing. But... didn't look fun from the videos. But I want it to be! Should I get it? I should get it huh... Do you play as stealthy assassin, or straight up combat game? Do you do all the collectibles and whatnot as you go? How have you been having so much fun with it? (That's not rhetorical or sarcastic or anything, I just actually wanna know, mechanically, what you've been doing and what's been fun to see if I think I can parallel).

Combat-wise, there are three skill trees: Hunter (bow skills and animal taming), Warrior (straight up melee), and Assassin (stealth kills and utility). I have a mix of all three, with the strongest focus being on Warrior followed closely by Assassin (you eventually unlock two action wheels for non-bow combat and I have one each dedicated to melee and assassination abilities).
I've been fairly indiscriminate in clearing out markers on the map. I like to discover locations to get the question marks out of the way but I only actively clear ruins and forts because they have materials necessary for upgrading the ship. I typically leave military outposts, bandit/hunter/cult camps, caves, animal dens, and city locations alone immediately after discovering them and come back to them later. I focus more on questing and trying to weaken a region for conquest (which does see me take out military outposts if there's no better option; they're not much of a challenge, even at lower levels).
As for where I find my fun, it's mainly in trying to find the most amusing way to take out forts full of soldiers. Assassinating everyone without being detected is fun and all but it gets a bit stale if that's ALL you do, so I try to use environmental things like fire pots, caged animals, kicking enemies off of ledges and cliffs, etc. to keep things interesting. Sometimes, just running in the front entrance, putting everyone on alert and fighting your way through countless soldiers, captains, and mercenaries is the most fun.
Also, while I admit that one of the precious few AC games that I haven't played is the naval-centric AC Black Flag, I really, really like the naval battles in this game. They were a bit of an afterthought that you could only do in a couple of story missions in Origins so it was very refreshing to be able to them anytime you want in Odyssey. There are three ship types (fast but fragile penteconters, the well balanced and maneuverable biremes, and the large but DEADLY triremes) and all three have normal and elite variants. One of the greater diversions in the game is upgrading the armor and armaments of your ship, as well as recruiting lieutenants to both provide special bonuses in naval combat and serve as your boarding party should you choose to finish off a ship that way. There's also a skill where you can call them in to distract and fight enemies when you're on land.
So yeah, between the fort stuff, the mercenary stuff, main story stuff that I won't spoil but I think is awesome, the naval combat, and just exploring every inch of the gorgeous setting, this game is a huge home run for me.

I'll second the AC:Odyssey love. I feel like it got kind of lost in the Red Dead shuffle but it's a really great game. Not quite as "grounded" as RDR - you can zip all over the map once you've discovered it, and you don't have to worry about taking care of your horse and things like that. Quite a bit faster paced. So that's down to preference whether that's a good or bad thing. The world is huge, so it's probably good.
It's a super fun game though. Gorgeous - one of the best looking games I think I've played. Lots of customizability too, as far as your gear, and how you fight (you could theoretically not even do stealth if you wanna Rambo it) and how you level up your abilities, which are more blatantly powerful in this game.
Naval combat is really fun, a bit closer-ranged and faster-paced than in Black Flag (accurately so) and if you kill a ship by ramming it, it'll dynamically snap in half and sink, which always feels like you're in fuckin' beast mode. And you can just get on or off your ship anytime, at any point, (though docking is easiest still) or just walk around on it, or dive off and explore the sea, it's completely seamless.
Plus, you can Sparta kick dudes off of buildings (or ships) which never completely gets old.
But yeah, I liked this game quite a bit.

Picked up Strafe in the PS4 Holliday sale, if you’ve played OG Doom and Spelunky, you’ll have the idea of Strafe. Like spelunky, you have four randomly generated stages to each world level, and like doom, lots of pixely corridors and stuff, packed with pixely bad guys to pound into chunks and red mist. You can pick one default weapon (or not...) and will find others scattered around the levels. You collect scrap that can be converted to ammo and or armour to keep you alive. The music is great, and a nice tribute to OG doom and other FPSs from that era. Fun little game that despite its difficulty keeps you coming back. Fun little pick up and play title for FPS fans!
OT: anyone here try Mothergunship yet? Looks interesting.
