I think Summerslam would be a complete waste if they don't find some way to take the belt off of Brock. Whether it's through shenanigans with Roman, the Shield, Lashley, the MitB wager winner, etc the belt NEEDS to be on somebody who is willing and able to defend it at a whim, not 2-3 times a year.
However, given the state the product is in, I pretty much expect them to keep it on Brock, probably after busting out 20 German suplexes and 9 F5's.

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread to post this in, but man Dave Meltzer is getting hit hard on social media right now over his Peyton Royce comments. Even the bbc picked up the story.
I think that Renee Young called him a repulsive piece of trash (or something along those lines).
Wow.

Maybe he shouldn't say stupid stuff about people's bodies?
He clearly didn't have any malice behind it but it was a very random, silly thing to opine on "professionally."

What got Meltzer in that idiotic drama is that he didn't said clearly that he was talking about the boob job when he said that he prefered Royce in NXT and that it had nothing to do about her having some more or less weight, it was heavily implied in the discussion that it was the boob job, but the problem is that half of that stupid internet are unable to actually listen or read a full discussion.
So all they can do is read specifically selected sentences by people with an agenda and so it was made as if he was "body shaming" a woman, yet those same moron do not seem to have a problem with wwe storyling about making fun of fat people, skinny people, making fun of different body height, etc...
Because it's obvious boob jobs are what the old wwe boss likes and he pushes women that fit this body type without giving a shit on their wrestling ability, because if it was not that case people like Sasha or Asuka would be nearly constantly world champion considering how much better in ring they are than most of their pals, but they haven't made the "boob job" so Vince and his cronies don't care.
Actually the same as he liked people filled with steroids and only pushed them until he got in trouble with the law.
So the fact remains that women that want to avoid staying in mid/low cards forever in that wwe company are going to make that idiotic "boob job" ( i definitively prefer "natural" women but that's only my taste) , even if it means they'll lose a bit of in-ring agility due to it and risk a lot of health problem (see Charlotte recently)unfortunately .
And that's what Meltzer should have made clear. As a journalist, he knows words are important in that line of work, he's been working with words for all his life, he should have been more clear on this kind of public discussion to avoid all that crap and circle jerking from the drones, and additionally instead of singling out a single performer he should have talked about it as a general practice, that's his second mistake. And as he perfectly knows that half of the wrestling fans likes him and the other half hates him, he should have know some people only wait for misteps in interviews to kick him down.

Not just wrestling fans, but people within the industry too. For example; Guys like Russo, Prichard and Bischoff love to shit on Meltzer all the time (to be fair, Meltzer shits on them too). It seems like there's a very clear divide between people that respect what he's done, and those that think he's gossip columnist with no credibility.

He sucks. His fanboys suck. End of.
All of his ratings are opinions. I think they're garbage for the most part, but hey, that's my opinion.
Strange how that works.

I really liked Takeover Brooklyn 4. Only one "not good" match in the bunch but one guy was clearly better at the whole performing thing than the other there so it really stood out compared to the other matches where everyone pulled weight equally. I wouldn't rate it among the best Takeovers ever but it was a lot of fun and worth the 2.5 hours to watch.
Mustache Mountain vs The Undisputed Era was a "solid" start to the show. It wasn't a great match by any means but it had plenty of stock action, drama, and story development with the division. I've seen better openers but I've also seen much worse. Velveteen Dream vs EC3 was the match that I was alluding to earlier. It wasn't a good match but Velveteen Dream did his damnedest to make it happen and ultimately pulled something passable out of the deal. I really don't know if EC3 is typically as "bleh" as he was tonight but it was pretty disappointing to see him get so thoroughly outshined by Dream. I "think" he's better than what he showed tonight and with Dream's "call me up Vince" message on the back of his tights, perhaps it was just one last showcase before Dream actually does make the main roster debut. Either way, it was easily the most unimpressive match of the night.
Richochet vs Adam Cole featured one of the sickest reversal spots you'll ever see in a WWE match. Straight up looked like something from 2005 ROH lol. besides that specfic spot, it was a really fun, action-packed match where both guys really brought it. For guys with names that I knew mostly through buzz and not regular viewing (stopped watching LU before Richochet arrived and I haven't followed ROH in like 6 years, when Cole was still a straight tag guy), I was pretty impressed by both of them and the "hype" was well met. Kairi Sane vs Shana Baszler is yet another example of how much better the booking for NXT Women is compared to the main roster. Story wise, it was the classic bully vs underdog fight and both ladies played their parts excellently. Kaire Sane is really hard not to cheer, even with her random "pirate" gimmick while Baszler does nasty heel VERY well and makes everything look really painful. The finish to the match was brilliant. Gargano vs Ciampa......well, you probably know the EPIC story between these two right now and I think this was probably the end of their long journey together, at least for the immediate future. It was a predictably brutal affair with tons of great story and callbacks to their earlier fights. The whole transition of Gargano from pure babyface to obsessive psychopathic only bent on destroying the criminally obnoxious Ciampa has been beautiful and the ending of this match provided a logical conclusion to that evolution, all while keeping Ciampa as the firm heel while simultaneously "humanizing" him, just a bit.[\spoiler]
The aforementioned spot

I find it sad that NXT is the superior, most interesting, and most enjoyable to watch brand in the wwe company.
Sad because when i enjoy a NXT match i know those great guys and gals wrestlers will be "called up" (though considering what happens after it should be said as being "called down" ) soon and will end into such an inferior brand that you can't even watch anymore due to having terribly bad creatives, terribly bad boss running the show leading into their obvious talent wasted in matches that could have been great elsewhere.
At least i'm happy for them that they're going to make more money when they go to raw or smackdown, but it's still sad that everytime you watch NXT you know that each of those good wrestlers will have to leave soon. Fortunately the newcomers to NXT always manage to continue to deliver awesome, so there's still that.
That said, i'm still so amazed by Shayna Baszler , the way she moves, her offense and her selling and facial expressions are great, you feel there's a threat in the ring as soon as she comes. I discovered her only at the Mae Young tournament and since then watched a bunch of videos of her matches all over the world, but man she's just great ! , what a fantastic natural "threat" heel without overplaying it

So many great matches... where to begin with takeover! Absolutely brilliant event - I don’t even want to bother with summerslam
Even in the pg/child friendly era - NXT just proves you can put on insanely good matches and storytelling without extreme violence. The sooner vince retires and HHH gets raw and smack down then we can all start to enjoy wwe again, what HHH has done with NXT is incredible
rangerh has it spot on - the cesaros, styles, balors, rollins etc etc I bet they wish they could have the time to compete and creativity the NXT guys are given. It must be soul destroying - on the one hand you get good money, on the other you’re diluting your career, and probably only giving 10% of what you are capable of. I do think NXT massively benefits from the main roster promotions, it quickly freshens up storylines and rivalries when new talent comes in. You don’t get saturation and repeated rehashes of feuds you get on the main roster

Summerslam sucked.
The End. Edit: Actual "better" review: I didn't really pay much attention to the pre-show, so I don't really know what happened there.
The PPV proper started out pretty damn well with Rollins and Ziggler. I am not a fan of either guy, but that's a good way to start off a PPV. Get the crowd hyped for the remainder of the show and keep it up from there. The Styles/Joe Match was probably MotN (Joe is such an assbag; I love it) and I rather enjoyed Miz/Bryan (I'm a "Miz Guy" for life), and the SD! Women's Match was pretty decent too (I didn't really care for the finish, but I digress).
I'm especially disappointed in the outcome of Alexa/Ronda the most. I'm an Alexa fan, always have been since I first saw her with Buddy and Murphy on NXT a few years ago. Regardless, this match absolutely sucked. I don't like Rousey at all. I gave her a fair shot (I really did), but I hate monster pushes like these, ESPECIALLY, when the character (Rousey) is a supposed "rookie" and wants to "earn her place and her shot at the title", etc. This is where the booking makes absolutely no sense. She absolutely annihilated Alexa. Nevermind that a few months back, she got completely annihilated, by an actual, believable, monster. Alexa and Nia made her look like a million bucks. What's done is done, I guess - WWE gonna WWE. The title will be on someone else in four week's time anyways - In before Shayna gets brought up and feuds with her for the title because lol, nobody else is credible now. Fuck off with this PR stunt with the Evolution shit already. Stephanie and her campaign trying to goad people into thinking they're doing the greatest thing since sliced bread. Meanwhile, elsewhere, we've gotten blood feuds.
This was much more than just the match. Just the whole Women's (R)evolution thing has put a real sour taste in my mouth. Yes, I think Women deserve just as much an opportunity as the Men, and vice-versa, but does it have to absolutely be shoved down our throats? Trick question, it's WWE, they're going to anyways.
Speaking of squashes: It gets all four men out of those feuds, so I guess it's a good thing. Seems like a waste of time on a "Big Four" show though. Whatever, I guess.
Main Event sucked. Roman is champion and hopefully (HOPEFULLY) that means Lesnar stays away from the picture for good - or at least for a good long while. No real upside to this outside of "credible" (haw-haw, right?).
I don't know why I think these events are going to be fun (I didn't say "good") when they almost never are.
Here's to hoping Hell in a Cell will be interesting.

^ I thought SS was pretty decent for a main roster show Rollins/Ziggler was a solid opening match. The reverse superplex into the Paroxysm (isn't that what he used to call it?) was an awesome spot, should've been the finish though. I'm glad Rollins finally got the title back, and hopefully we get a Dean turn to start that feud. New Day/Bludgeon Bros... yeah that kinda sucked. Strowman/Owens... ok, this sucked too. Carmella/Charlotte/Lynch was great. Kinda peeved at super Charlotte winning the belt again but at least we got the pop of the night with Becky's "heel turn" that didn't feel like much of a turn at all. It was satisfying though. Styles/Joe was awesome as expected, and a DQ finish done right. Bryan/Miz was really good. I'm glad we got a dirty finish to keep the feud going. Balor/Corbin was the only squash match I didn't mind, though there really shouldn't be so many squashes on the second biggest show of the year. It was great to see the Demon King come back to Brooklyn. Nakamura/Hardy was good too. Jeff is crazy as hell for that Swanton on the apron bump though. Bliss/Rousey was easily the worst match of the night, and I'm tempted to say the show sucked for this alone. While it was a bit stupid to have such a dominant heel champ winning clean so often, it was even stupider to have her get squashed in a match where her offense literally didn't even affect Ronda. Now we've got an unbeatable champ, I'm assuming until Charlotte gets a match with her. I'm biased here though, because I've hated Rousey's monster push from the beginning. Reigns/Lesnar was shockingly great. It seems like they learned from the mistakes of their previous matches, and this one was hype from the start. Roman finally conquered the Beast and now we can move on and have the top title back on the show. (Edit: After seeing kikrusher99 's comment, I do agree that it was dumb that Brock moved the chair. I didn't think it ruined the match though, which was a huge step up from the duds they've been having.) It wasn't a great show by any means like Takeover was, but considering the main roster PPV track record, I couldn't think of a more entertaining one this year.

I only caught everything from Styles/Joe on so I can't speak to the rest of the show but that match, Bryan/Miz, and Nakamura/Hardy were pretty enjoyable. Rousey/Bliss wasn't good but what do you expect from a greenhorn (albeit a talented one) and a very limited worker? (the latter of which has dominated the title scene for the past two yeas >_>) The thing that pissed me off about the main event wasn't the result so much as the blatant "fuck you" from WWE brass by doing what they did before the match. They basically said "we know you want THIS but AHAHAHA, YOU'RE GETTING WHAT WE WANT YOU TO GET DAMMIT, SO BEND OVER AND TAKE IT!"
I hope they lose a ton of subscribers over that BS.

Meltzer tends to go after the blondes more but this is nothing new. (It also doesn't help that this was shortly after poopooing the MYC even with best waifu Io in the mix)
