Things aligned where I could watch Smackdown for the first time in forever. Even though I haven't followed them with any regularity in probably about a decade, I noticed some things that haven't changed. Long-winded promo to start the show, irritating heel commentator, obvious jobber matches, trainwreck spots whenever they have to take a mid-match commercial...
I mean, I can be nice. I still think their in-house music is well produced, and I like that female wrestlers are actually treated like wrestlers again. I thought it was interesting that they have a female referee now too, especially since she didn't officiate a women's match.
I smiled when I realized Sami Zayn was humming a Vandals song during a backstage vignette, but that's probably on Zayn himself instead of their writers.
That said, I also didn't see anything that made me feel like I should come back next week. That's ok, though. They have their audience and I'm not part of it anymore.

Just finished watching worlds collide - diy vs moustache mountain was fun and imperium vs undisputed era was just incredible. I was massively let down by the women’s title match - the NXT women’s division is just so good and I was expecting way more
I also thought the Zack Gibson half of the dusty classic promo was fantastic, you could drink in his passion and belief in what he was saying - it was almost embarrassing watching riddle and dunne follow it with what they produced... weed jokes in wwe in 2020 - who knew

I really liked both Rumble matches. I have to admit I was a bit dismayed at how the men's rumble match started and went for about 20 minutes but the payoff was well worth it, even if a couple of guys ended up looking silly in the process. The surprise entrants were mostly pretty great too (which is what I prefer with those; quality over quantity) with a certain couple that both looked amazing despite being long retired, one moreso than the other.

There’s been talk of Cena-Fiend because Cena gave Wyatt his first loss at a previous mania. WWE seem to love having ‘boss fight’ champions (Lesnar,Goldberg) where the title chaser has to overcome the unstoppable monster

I can see it now! two or more spears into the barricades and/or tables, spear onto the announcers table, super man punch counter into spear, Double spear collision and ten count ko where both wrestlers raise their hands at the same time. Four or more super man punches, a near fall kick out of the jack hammer, spear again and Roman wins. XD

I will gladly take a sub 10 minute meat fight between goldberg and roman on a Wrestlemania card. You can't do matches like that all the time, but seeing this match after 4-5 hours of eh, it would be a welcome oasis. I think after watching the last Cole/Ciampa match, I will gladly take this.
I think if you build the match around both men having similar football backgrounds, who has the more powerful spear and just show the best moments of goldberg and roman beating the shit outta people, it could work. I doubt they will do that and adding the title matches it silly to me, but it has potential.
All that said, I doubt I will watch Mania so this :shrugs:
