It's the last Phoenix Rising show of the year. It's the go-home show for New Year's Bash. It's got two major #1 contender matches and a ton of action besides. It's Proving Ground, episode 47, the last one for 2019. Let's send this off with a bang. Kellaron Sentarl vs. Pajaro de FuegoThe Limbtakers vs. La FamiliaAnari Lynn Heyward vs. SATOMIVictor Kintelas vs. Silver HawkAllison Avery vs. La RelampagaAdrenaline Rush vs. The Muscle MachinesLayla Al-Amin vs. Titania, #1 Contender for the Inspire ChampionshipKyle Anderson vs. Hugo Dirksen, #1 Contender for the Top Prospect ChampionshipWe kick this week off with a match that could very well steal the show. The only son of the Sentarl family takes on a man who shares more than a passing similarity to the family patriarch... but who is Pajaro de Fuego? Will we ever know who's behind the mask? Is it somehow Firehawk himself? Or is the answer somewhat more complicated? Either way, this opener could be one of the most action-packed of the year.
The Limbtakers need to stay sharp ahead of their title defense against the Golden Ambush... and La Familia, Chico and Rey, might be exactly what they need to stay on track. We know at least one thing for sure: this won't be an easy match for anyone, but the Proving Ground Tag Team Champions will almost certainly show up ready for a fight.
Both on the heels of a surprising defeat, Anari Lynn Heyward and SATOMI now square off with each other in the hopes of avenging their losses from last Proving Ground. SATOMI, however, will also be looking to remind the fanbase just who she is... one of the best Proving Ground has to offer, and Anari stands in the way of that.
Victor Kintelas steps into the ring with the other half of the Avian Assassins... with Silver Hawk taking a heartbreaker of a defeat to Kyle Anderson, his shot at the Top Prospect Championship may have been denied, but a win over Victor would definitely do a lot to soothe the pain of that defeat...
One might say that Allison Avery and La Relampaga were snubbed from the mini-tournament that decides who faces Reina del Tigre at New Year's Bash. Still... with both winning their matches last episode, that oversight could be avenged for one of the two. While neither will appear at New Year's Bash, no doubt the winner of this match will certainly line themselves up to face the Inspire Championship as the first challenger of the new year...
Adrenaline Rush and the Muscle Machines have had a few run-ins throughout 2019, but until now, it seems that the two teams have not faced each other outright. That'll be remedied here... tag team action that Adrenaline Rush will absolutely want to come away with a big win to close the year.
The first contender's match will see a classic battle of speed vs. power: the Cairo Cyclone, Layla Al-Amin, squares off with the Blue Bomber, Titania. With a championship match against Reina del Tigre at stake, expect both women to be at the top of their game... but only one of them can be the challenger come December 30th.
Capping off the big finale, we have the Top Prospect contender's match... Kyle Anderson takes on Hugo Dirksen, some would argue a surprising matchup given who was involved. Kyle picked up an impressive win over Silver Hawk... while Hugo Dirksen wiped out Akira Ryusaki and put him on the shelf for a little while. But only one of these two men can challenge the seemingly-unstoppable Todd Colton... who will it be? And can either of them dethrone the Top Prospect with a stranglehold on the title?

RNA Ruthless Nicole Alger: Can't find more different teams than us and them. Lucha style and shoot style. But me and Candace, we're ok with that. We know how to adapt. We also know not to look past them. La Familia might not be part of the Gracie lineage. They might not have the intense Kirison training. Or the Alger style. But they got their own history, their own system, and I respect that. So, Rey, Chico, you bring your stuff, we'll bring ours, let's see who comes out ahead. Come get some!
Muscle Machines Gary Gear: Yeah, get hyped! Feel the rush! We're going all out tonight, like we're rampaging through burnout sets at warmup weights! I'm psyched!
Adonis Avery Alexander: I don't get why you're so excited. It's not like we haven't faced these two before. They're not even ripped.
Gear: You don't get it! You don't freakin' get it! We're facing the Adrenaline Rush!
AAA: So?
Gear: That means if we're facing the Rush, we gotta get intense! Hyped up! Roooooooaaaaaaaa!
AAA: You are an idiot. We beat them both in singles matches. We proved we're better. There is exactly nothing to be excited for here, at all. And stop shouting.
Gear: The sum is greater than the parts, man! It's like you combined a lightning storm and a factory of explosives, makes everything go CRACKBOOOOM! Lightning is badass by itself, explosives are explosive, but put them together? That's Adrenaline Rush as a team!
AAA: Did you mix something extra in with your roids?
Gear: Did someone kill your buzz? Nah, that's just how you always are! We got a chance to get up in the standings, end the year strong like Magnus Samuelsson carrying the Atlas Stones! And we got a match with the Adrenaline Rush! Yeah! Fear Gary Gear, feel the rush, alright!
AAA: You do what you do...

Sure enough, Proving Ground brought its best to close out the year... this one was wild. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/525652196Youtube: youtu.be/1dIKXFwYZ2EQuick Results Kellaron Sentarl def. Pajaro de Fuego The Limbtakers def. La Familia SATOMI def. Anari Lynn Heyward Silver Hawk def. Victor Kintelas Allison Avery def. La Relampaga The Muscle Machines def. Adrenaline Rush Titania def. Layla Al-Amin Kyle Anderson def. Hugo Dirksen Write-ups Kellaron Sentarl and Pajaro de Fuego started this one off hot... delivering the action one would expect of a Proving Ground opener. Kellaron eventually weathered the face-paced storm of offense Fuego threw out, and landed a big-time Frog Splash to pick up the win. The Proving Ground Tag Team Champions were determined to stay hot ahead of their title defense against the Golden Ambush next week... and they did just that, after a long, tough fight against La Familia. A piledriver from RNA put the cap on this one. This was an all-out war between these two... and while Anari's raw power and size carried her through most of the match, nearly overwhelming SATOMI, it didn't stop the Fukuoka native from locking in a vicious triangle choke to force an almost desperate tapout. SATOMI closes her year with a victory... and looks forward to plenty more in 2020. Silver Hawk was not about to let the Avian Assassins get shut out tonight... and a blistering pace leading up to a Silver Star Press made sure they didn't. A huge win for Silver Hawk... and perhaps the two teams will settle this in the new year. With La Relampaga feeling the Christmas spirit... Allison Avery was in absolutely no mood for any of it. The Lariat Queen of Little Rock absolutely wiped the floor with Relampaga from bell-to-bell, finishing the job with a vicious rolling lariat, and soaked in the jeers of the holiday-inclined crowd. It's a Phoenix Rising tag match, you know it's gotta be a wild one... and it certainly was, with both Adrenaline Rush and the Muscle Machines throwing everything they had into this one. But it was Gary Gear that managed to finish the job with an Iron Claw Slam, with AAA cutting off the save... barely. There's just something about Titania when she faces off against Layla... perhaps it's trying to show off, maybe it's trying to humiliate the Cairo Cyclone by stealing her finisher so regularly... but this time, she actually beat Layla with said move, and earned her shot at Reina del Tigre next week. It's almost as if these two were trying to make a claim for a late Match of the Year candidate... and they left it all in the ring, no doubt about that. Hugo tried to keep Kyle down any way he could... but Kyle's raw power, coupled with hitting his full, devastating finishing combo, gave him the victory and a shot at Todd Colton's Top Prospect Championship next week. Can Kyle finally exorcise the demons that have plagued him from day one? Can he finally capture Proving Ground's top prize? Kyle Anderson "I am one week away from putting your run at the top to an end, Todd. One week, that's all you've got left with that title. So enjoy it while you can. I'm not going quietly this time around... I won't stop until I've beaten you down and finally taken my spot at the top of Proving Ground, where I belong.
Then you can finally focus on what you really want... on what you deserve. Languishing at the bottom of Showdown's rankings... because you'll never be able to get any further than that." Titania "I've said it before, I'll say it again... I'll do whatever it takes to win around here, and if that means repeating what I did out there time and time again, I'll damn well take the shot. Reina del Tigre... I've already beaten you once before. Now with the Inspire Championship at stake... I'll do it again. I'll drive you through the ring if I have to. But I will come home with that title around my waist." So here we are. There's only one thing left for the year, besides Saturday's Academy show (which I will get a card up for soon as well). New Year's Bash... ringing in 2020 the only way we know how, with the biggest and best show of the year. We're sending this thing off big, with no less than an 11-match card, with as many championships on the line as we could muster...
Maria Marella and Asha Nelson vs. Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa for the Blackwood Academy Tag Team Championships
Concrete Pete vs. Strawberry Sookie for the Evergreen Championship Nana Yoon vs. Maria Marella vs for the Academy Championship The Golden Ambush vs. The Limbtakers for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships Lance Marshall vs. Doc Wyatt Reina del Tigre vs. Titania for the Inspire Championship Les Beautes Blondes vs. The Malevolent Triad Cassandra Marshall vs. Natasha Clover for the Pacific Northwest Championship eMo vs. The Demons for the Evergreen Tag Team Championships Kyle Anderson vs. Todd Colton for the Top Prospect Championship Main Event: Shiana Sentarl vs. Laenara Kintelas vs. The Black Dragon for the Phoenix Rising World Championship
Starting at the top: the conclusion of the Academy tag team ranking league, a grueling setup that will see its final three matches take place on Saturday's live show, has come down to this. Maria Marella and Asha Nelson have already earned their place at the top of the league: ensuring they'll be one-half of this inaugural championship match. Their opponents will be determined by Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa vs. Tara Helmsley and Trish Michaels... Tara and Trish could easily play spoiler with a win, and that would ensure that the fledgling team of Fiona Walsh and new arrival Virginia Caldwell would get the shot. We'll see how this shakes out soon enough...
The Evergreen Championship is defended next up, and Concrete Pete earned his shot last Thursday after winning the battle royal. Pete could be on track to win the big prize here, but Sookie's a crafty one... and surely, she'll have something up her sleeve in defense of her title.
An odd situation here: a potential double-booking that's tough to avoid (and if so, this match might get bumped further down the card...) Maria Marella and Calista Vargas will face each other on Saturday for the title... and two nights later, here at New Year's Bash, Nana Yoon will face off against the winner. Who will close 2019 as Academy Champion? And will we need to vacate the title for the new year?
The Golden Ambush have been ready and waiting for this opportunity... on a night where they could potentially capture 2/3 of the Proving Ground championships, Tiger and Tigress will seek to dethrone the Limbtakers on the biggest stage possible. But Candace and RNA are running the hot streak of their lives... can anyone stop them?
This match has been brewing for a good while by now... passing between rivals until it got to this point. Lance Marshall threw down the gauntlet after a recent tag match in which his partner Brayden Sutton took the pinfall... and challenged Doc Wyatt, the brash Warrior Pro mega-star, to face him one-on-one in a Phoenix Rising ring, at the year's biggest show. It's all led to this... can Lance finally be the one to silence Doc Wyatt?
Titania earned this shot in truly dominant fashion, as she tends to... and she's absolutely ready to bring down Reina del Tigre. She wants this title more than anything right now... but Reina is no slouch, and will not make this an easy task. Still, as Titania has pointed out... she's already beaten Reina once before, and she's fully capable of doing it again.
A surprise attack from the Triad against the Blondes has led to a vicious war breaking out between the two trios... and now, they're set to clash three-on-three. It's unclear how this will be set up... but chances are, we may see some rules set to avoid this one getting too insane.
Natasha Clover has been a surprisingly tough champion as of late... defending the Pacific Northwest Championship against all comers, and against tough competition at that. It won't change here: Cassandra Marshall is fully intent on capturing that title, and ensure that the Marshalls both come away victorious... with pure confidence that Lance will win his match as well.
eMo now has the unenviable position of facing the Evergreen Tag Team Champions... Tasharun and Kantar are a frightening duo on any given night, but holding the titles, under Evergreen rules? Eddy Introspect and Penelope Lea will have a tough mountain to climb here...
Kyle Anderson set out to finally clear his reputation... the struggles he's faced have been well-documented from day one, trying to find any sort of consistency and never reaching the top of the mountain. He may finally have his opportunity now... against Todd Colton, who has no intention of giving up his Top Prospect Championship.
A match that's months in the making... Grand Ascension winner Shiana Sentarl allowed Laenara Kintelas to earn her place in this match, which the young star managed wonderfully. But hanging over this match is the shadow of the most dominant champion in all of Phoenix Rising... the Black Dragon will not give up this title easily, having now held it for over a year, and it's going to take a truly heroic effort... even in this three-way battle for the World Championship. Will we finally see a new champion as 2020 begins, or are we witnessing the Dragon's rise for a second year at the top?

So... OK. We've got a lot to go over here, and seeing as I'm gonna be out of town starting tomorrow and going through Friday, I figure I should probably get all of this out now while it's fresh in my mind and I've just gotten it all squared away. Plans through the last week of the year, aside from Academy show and New Year's Bash: first of all I'll be running a pair of ranking leagues (yes, MORE leagues, huzzah... haaaaa hahaha), one to reset the Blackwood Academy rankings as the new blood comes in and potentially new challengers needing to be decided if Calista Vargas happens to retain in both of her matches this upcoming week, and one for the Pacific Northwest rankings as things are shifting fairly substantially on that front, as well, with a few new people coming in and a few people moving up to the World Championship division. Speaking of moves, yeah. There's a few of 'em. I've already mentioned that most of the Academy promotions are headed to Proving Ground to join the Inspire division, save for two: Iris Coleman is headed to Evergreen, and Anna Bryant is being hot-shotted straight to Showdown and the Pacific Northwest division. So, yeah... chances are I'm gonna be keeping myself very busy this week even while I'm away. Probably transfer my save onto the laptop and run matches while I have downtime, if I happen to get any, that is. Now, last order of business. Rather than completely obliterate this page with a gigantic list of the rosters, I just copied it all to a Google Doc, which you can find right here: docs.google.com/document/d/1q9bgOZzEAIHBVKA9Qhr8C1xER_7hWUQQsEfMo2Fw-Dk/edit?usp=sharingThat link contains the entire roster organization for Showdown, Proving Ground, Evergreen and the Blackwood Academy. Anyone that has a team name in parenthesis is organized into their own separate stable in my game, it's up to you whether to worry about that or not, though I do somewhat suggest it. You'll notice that Winifred Wright has moved to the Academy's Trainers section: this is because she'll be retiring from full-time competition in Phoenix Rising. She may continue to pop up every so often, but her days of generally going for championships has come to a close at this point. At least for now. She does of course reserve the right to return at any moment. You'll also notice some alignment changes among the list... It might be slightly spoiler-y of me to put it out there, but it's a balance thing and a "let's see what we can do to freshen this up a bit" thing. ... Also Mercy's a face mostly just in name because it's not like she's stopped being a crazy violent psycho, people just really seem to love her for it. Anyway. There's your 2020 update. I'm very much looking forward to the new year, if you couldn't tell already. Oh, one final detail: as a sort of "trying to set the shows apart", everything's gonna be moving to a new arena, save Proving Ground. The Blackwood Academy, of course, has already moved into the new Gym venue, where it's going to remain (save for the every-three-months shows that take place in Proving Ground's SCS arena). Showdown, being the flagship show, will be moving to Big Garden on a regular basis, while major shows (Sky's The Limit, New Year's Bash) will be in the USA Grand Dome. Finally, Evergreen will be taking up the Outdoor arena going forward, as I want to ensure they still get entrances, and all that. So there's your final update. :V

OK, actual final update: Monday's card is now set, with the Academy show wrapped up. The card above has been updated to reflect it: Maria Marella will defend the Academy Championship against Nana Yoon, and also fight for the Academy Tag Team Championships alongside Asha Nelson, taking on Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa.
See you Monday. It's gonna be wild.

Maria Marella on her two title matches: I'm the top of the class in Blackwood Academy, and I've got the Academy Championship around my waist. Emma Travers, Diosa Syringa, Asha and I have studied everything there is from the two of you, and we've formulated over twenty different plans to defeat both of you. You can study us all you want, but the fact is, none of you can even begin to compare to us. You're facing off against me, the undisputed, verified, definitively best wrestler in the Academy, and my best friend, the only person with the intellect to match my own, Asha Nelson. Once the night ends, it'll go down in the history books that I am the greatest wrestler in the Academy, and one half of the greatest tag team in the Academy.
Nana Yoon, you may have bested Asha a couple of times, but we've beaten you in tag competition almost every single time. Tonight, after my match with Emma and Diosa, no matter what happens, whether I win, or, somehow, in some New Year's Resolution Miracle, lose, I'll be facing off against you. Having to work two title matches in one night may be silly, but my intellect no doubt outclasses yours in almost every single way. Asha may have lost to you with the Diving Foot Stomp, but I'll make sure your bad arm is damaged enough that you can't ascend to the top rope, nor lift me up for your Tombstone Piledriver.

hahahahhahahhaa i'm fuckin exhausted haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/528768350Youtube: youtu.be/HAXvG4T0yv4Quick Results Emma Travers and Diosa Syringa def. Maria Marella and Asha Nelson to become the FIRST-EVER Academy Tag Team Champions Strawberry Sookie def. Concrete Pete to retain the Evergreen Championship The Golden Ambush def. The Limbtakers to become NEW Proving Ground Tag Team Champions Lance Marshall def. Doc Wyatt Titania def. Reina del Tigre to become the NEW Inspire Champion Les Beautes Blondes def. The Malevolent Triad Nana Yoon def. Maria Marella to become the NEW Academy Champion Natasha Clover def. Cassandra Marshall to retain the Pacific Northwest Championship eMo def. The Demons to become the NEW Evergreen Tag Team Champions Kyle Anderson def. Todd Colton to become the NEW Top Prospect Champion The Black Dragon def. Shiana Sentarl and Laenara Kintelas to retain the Phoenix Rising World Championship Write-ups The Academy veterans simply would not be denied here... despite the younger rookies trying their hardest to keep Emma and Syringa down, it was the familiar Strangle Hold Gamma from Syringa that scored a submission and ended the tag league in somewhat expected fashion: with the most experienced team taking home the gold. Nobody call it a fluke: Strawberry Sookie is still the Evergreen Champion, and looks nigh-unstoppable at this point, taking Concrete Pete down with a Strawberry Cutter onto a chair and making an emphatic statement: Evergreen is eMo's territory, now. The Golden Ambush continued to do what they do best, keeping the pace fast and hot, roaring through this match absolutely relentless from the bell. While the Limbtakers held out for a long while, delivering strikes and trying to keep the tigers grounded, their submission game was simply... stuffed at every turn, and a huge Frog Splash from Tigress captured the belts for the Ambush. Months of Doc Wyatt running his mouth. Months of hostility between Doc and so many others... culminating in this. Set up when Wyatt defeated Lance and Brayden Sutton in tag work, Lance challenged Doc once again... making the bold (and correct) claim that Doc had not yet won the war: he'd never pinned Lance, never even truly faced Lance. And when the time came, and it all came down to the showdown: Lance backed up every single word he had towards Doc, and finished the night with a huge German suplex hurling Doc across the ring, followed up with a thunderous Cattle Drive to end Doc's night... and perhaps shut the arrogant man up for at least a little while. To be honest, this was the one match on the card that didn't feel like a big-time showdown... this was nothing short of a savage beating. Titania, clearly tired of falling short in her pursuit of the Inspire Championship, absolutely obliterated Reina del Tigre (much to my dismay), and became the new champion in truly dominant fashion. This was the shortest match of the night, and the only one that didn't feel competitive or particularly... well, good. Stemming from a sudden attack from the Triad, the Blondes were out for vengeance... having already struck blows in singles competition, they finished the job here in trios. With no interference allowed, there was nothing to stop this from being a straightforward matchup... and a huge diving knee from Michelle Rochefort sent Oscuro to the mat, giving the Blondes another resounding victory. Maria Marella's night didn't improve from the opener, unfortunately. Perhaps it was fatigue despite the long rest, perhaps Nana Yoon was simply that good, but Maria couldn't keep up with Yoon here, and a Fisherman's Suplex ended the match, and sent Nana into 2020 as the Academy's top star. What is it going to take to stop Natasha Clover? Enduring everything that Cassandra Marshall threw at her: multiple Demonkillers, Cloverleaf holds, Rodeo Stretches, strikes and spears... Natasha fought through it all and brought the fight right back to the Texan, finally landing a crushing Spear of her own and once again retaining her title against truly vicious competition. The Pacific Northwest Championship might be staying put for a good while at this rate... At the beginning of the night, nobody could've guessed this outcome for this match. And yet, here we stand... with eMo holding out through a brutal offensive from the Demons, Penelope Lea got into a straight up brawl with Tasharun, while Eddy Introspect scored perhaps the most shocking submission victory of the year: forcing Kantar to tap out in the middle of the ring. Evergreen isn't just eMo's territory... it's theirs, now, without any doubt, as they hold both championships in the fed! For most of Phoenix Rising's run, there has been one distinct story: Kyle Anderson couldn't win the big one. Couldn't string enough wins together to be at the top of the mountain. Couldn't win when it counted. That story has finally been laid to rest. On the biggest possible stage, with all of the pressure bearing down on him, Kyle Anderson rose to the occasion in the biggest way he could. With Todd Colton trying to destroy his arms and his spirit, Kyle fought through it all, and ultimately came out with a roaring offensive... and it was the now-familiar double-arm suplex, into his Triangle Scissors hold, that won the day. Kyle Anderson is no choke artist... not anymore. He's the Top Prospect... the best Proving Ground has to offer. This was nothing short of the most intense war of the entire night. Nobody wanted to allow someone else to steal the glory. Nobody wanted to be the first one out. Nobody wanted to give a single inch to anyone else in that ring. And the Black Dragon once again proved why she's held the World Championship for 14 months. After enduring nearly every single bit of offense that both Laenara and Shiana could muster, she seized her opportunity late in the match: Last of the Dragon on Laenara, eliminating the young upstart from the match and leaving her in the ring with her oldest friend and rival, Shiana Sentarl. The exchange was quick, brutal... and Dragon held nothing back, blasting a fireball into Shiana's face and laying her out for the three-count... the Black Dragon entered 2019 as World Champion, and she will leave 2019 as World Champion... the single most dominant force in all of Phoenix Rising. Lance Marshall"Here we are, standin' at the end of the line, after all the trash talkin', all the mud-slingin'... Doc Wyatt finally stepped into a Phoenix Risin' ring, standin' across from Lance Marshall. And after so much of that tough talk, all the times ya' tried to run my name, and Cassie's name, through the mud, when we finally met face-to-face in that ring, there is one thing that's gonna follow you into the new year, that people ain't gonna let you forget anytime soon: when it came time to put up or shut up, you blinked. You gave the best ya' had and it wasn't enough. Credit to ya', though... ya' didn't go quietly. Ya' didn't roll over and give up. I had to keep yer ass down with a proper Cattle Drive... but make no mistake, that's damn well what I did. I'm closin' this year with a win. And I'm plannin' to start the next one with a fuckin' bang, too.
DRAGON! It's about high damn time you and I met in that ring one more time! I've spent this past year figurin' out exactly what it takes to get back to the top... and now, I think I found exactly what I need. You and I... we're gonna square off, soon enough, with that World Championship up for grabs... and I ain't gonna settle for second-best." Shiana SentarlWe attempted to get an interview with Shiana Sentarl after the match, but she said nothing, leaving the arena much as she did after Showdown #45... silent, but clearly frustrated... whether that's from failing to capture the title or some other factor, nobody's entirely certain. But one thing's for sure... it's not often we see her this way... The Black Dragon"I knew what it'd sound like the moment I put Laenara down... the moment the bell rang to end the match... all of it. People want to see the day it finally happens... where I finally drop this World Championship after over a year of being unstoppable. But with my back to the wall... faced with two of the best that Phoenix Rising has to offer, both of them fully capable... I still stood tall at the end of the night. I am still the Phoenix Rising World Champion, for the entirety of 2019, THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON, and as I carry it into the new year... don't ever, ever forget what it really takes to beat me. Because there is not a soul alive today that can do it when this prize is at stake."

Immediately following Doc Wyatt's match with Lance Marshall...Members of the Jackson Hole Outlaws prevented media into the locker room, though multiple reports are that Doc's room was completely trashed with a great deal of commotion being heard after the match. Doc was escorted out of the building without speaking to reporters- but it was viewed that Doc's arm was in a sling and sources state he was taken directly to a local hospital to be evaluated for what's currently being deemed a "shoulder stinger." Interesting to note as well is Virgil Wyatt, Doc's father and rumored to be in Japan for the past year, was spotted in Doc's entourage as he headed to the hospital. We'll have more on this story as it develops...

Showdown's the one to kick off the new year, with Phoenix Rising's first show of 2020 set for Monday. Anna Bryant vs. Sophia MorettiThe Heyward Sisters vs. The Malevolent Triad (Haruka/Selisha)Layla Al-Amin vs. Cassandra MarshallKileas Kintelas vs. Lance MarshallLaenara Kintelas vs. Angel LeblancThe Sentarl Sisters vs. The Rising StormFirehawk Sentarl vs. Markos AndreasYuki Maeda vs. Natasha Clover for the Pacific Northwest ChampionshipIt's the big debut of Anna Bryant in Phoenix Rising after wrapping up her Blackwood Academy run, and surprise: she's been hot-shotted straight to Showdown, into the Pacific Northwest division. Sophia Moretti, the Italian Monster, is set to be her first opponent... can Anna rise to her first challenge of her young career?
The Heyward Sisters are reunited, and they're immediately put to the test: the Malevolent Triad, fresh off of a frustrating defeat at New Year's Bash, look to regain their momentum here. Still, with Anari debuting on Showdown, she'll certainly be out to make a major impact early on.
Layla Al-Amin is another Proving Ground star making the jump, and she's got maybe the toughest ask of the night for the newcomers: squaring off with Cassandra Marshall. Although Cassandra failed to capture the Pacific Northwest Championship at New Year's Bash, she's still very much a threat... Layla's speed will have to carry her through this one.
Lance Marshall is riding high. On a major winning streak, after defeating Doc Wyatt, he's called out the World Champion, and seeks to be the one to topple the Black Dragon himself... but until that day comes, Kileas Kintelas, now once again flying solo, has his eyes on the Texan, preparing to crush Lance's hot streak once and for all.
Laenara Kintelas saw her night end last Monday in a way she hadn't hoped for. With the Black Dragon still standing tall at the end of the night, Lae hasn't given up on challenging the World Champion... but for now, she'll turn her focus to Angel Leblanc, who apparently has been needling the young star since her defeat at New Year's Bash, and riding the high of the Blondes defeating the Triad.
The Rising Storm debuted a brand-new look recently... and perhaps, a new attitude. The Sentarl sisters, meanwhile, will return to tag action for the first time in a while, with both Eri and Kaelara finding their singles careers stalling as of late... still, this will not be an easy match for the young Sentarls.
Markos Andreas has been a solid presence on Showdown since his debut, scoring victories on his own and alongside Alexandria Kirison. But his debut match, back at Showdown #36, was this very matchup: facing off with Firehawk Sentarl, and falling in defeat. Markos now seeks to even the score and avenge his debut, but the Phoenix could be rising from the ashes of 2019 to reach new heights...
Natasha Clover has made four defenses of the Pacific Northwest Championship since winning the title from Eri Sentarl: against Kaelara Sentarl, Michelle Rochefort, Fenix Oscuro, and now, Cassandra Marshall. That is a lineup that's more than intimidating, to put it lightly... and it doesn't get any easier for the champion this week, as Yuki Maeda steps up to face her next. The veteran powerhouse seems primed to stun Natasha and finally end a stunningly dominant run... but Natasha's pulled off some wild victories these past few weeks, and Yuki could find herself added to a growing list of those that the Devil Hand has laid out in defense of her title.

Welcome to 2020... new year, a new look for Showdown alongside a bit of a roster shuffle. Fun times. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/532217366Youtube: youtu.be/A02Ubgh5YToQuick ResultsAnna Bryant def. Sophia Moretti The Heyward Sisters def. The Malevolent Triad Layla Al-Amin def. Cassandra Marshall Kileas Kintelas def. Lance Marshall Angel Leblanc def. Laenara Kintelas The Rising Storm def. The Sentarl Sisters Markos Andreas def. Firehawk Sentarl Yuki Maeda def. Natasha Clover to become the NEW Pacific Northwest Champion Write-upsAnna Bryant absolutely rose to the challenge of her first match on a bigger stage. The former Academy Champion looked just as comfortable here as she ever did in the Academy ring, and beat Sophia Moretti at her own game, forcing the Italian to tap out to the familiar Anaconda Vice, on a night that was very, very good to the newcomers. The only newcomer in this match was Anari Lynn Heyward, but she looked like she belonged in the ring alongside her sister, taking on the Malevolent Triad and handling Haruka and Selisha with relative ease. A huge diving crossbody sealed this one, with Anari's size and strength proving the deciding factor tonight. The Cairo Cyclone was easily the most impressive performer of the night, bringing her high-speed offense to bear against Cassandra and never letting up. A truly intense showing from one of Proving Ground's finest, now looking to be one of Showdown's best. Fresh off of defeating Doc Wyatt last week, Lance didn't seem to be at his sharpest here, Kileas steadily wearing him down before making great use of a chair he'd brought into play: two hard slams onto that chair followed by a Tigerdriver, and Kileas scored a major victory over the would-be #1 contender. Laenara, too, seemed less sharp than last week, coming off of a defeat in the 3-way main event. Angel Leblanc capitalized on what seemed to be a slight lack of focus, eventually locking in her Figure Eight leglock and scoring a stunning upset victory. And yet, the story came after the match was over... when Angel left the ring, and Laenara called out none other than Shiana Sentarl. Harsh words were traded between the two, leading up to perhaps the single most shocking moment of the night... (Promo highlighted separately here: www.twitch.tv/videos/532217365 ) A vicious Superkick from Shiana laid Laenara out cold, Shiana offering an almost mocking wave to the crowd before taking her leave. Laenara doesn't seem to be injured, but there's no doubt that the superkick out of the blue rattled the young star badly... The two Sentarl daughters had to follow up the revelation of what Shiana had done... and it seemed to be distracting them, allowing the Rising Storm to steadily take control, with Anahera eventually putting Kaelara down with a Katahajime for the win. Firehawk may have also been distracted by what'd happened earlier in the night, but it's also entirely possible that Markos Andreas was simply tired of giving up ground to the Sentarl patriarch. He easily kicked out of nearly everything Firehawk threw his way, sometimes bouncing back up before Firehawk could even follow up, and eventually, landed a Triple Fisherman to pick up a victory, avenging his debut loss. Natasha's fifth defense would be the last, with Yuki Maeda bound and determined to take home the Pacific Northwest Championship. Natasha never fully managed to bring all of her arsenal to bear, and Yuki made her regret it, focusing hard on the Nagata Lock late-match and forcing the tapout, and capturing her first gold in Phoenix Rising: the Pacific Northwest Championship. Shiana Sentarl"No doubt you want answers after tonight. Wanting to know why I would do what I did to Laenara Kintelas. To be blunt... you should've seen this coming from the start. Let me take you back to the final night of the Grand Ascension... the night I capped off my run by winning the entire tournament. There were cheers of support... and yet, a large part of the crowd that immediately turned against me, and in the coming weeks, demanded Laenara get a second chance, which... as I mentioned... I was under no obligation to give her.
It hasn't ended. These past few months I have continued to hear the same things... 'Shiana shouldn't win this match'. All sorts of shots taken at my expense, and for what... because you think I'm past my prime? You think I'm not deserving?
Remember all of this as you watch in the coming weeks. Remember why this is happening. I will become the World Champion in 2020. Whatever it takes. No matter what it costs.
Because you've proved to me one thing: I spent 25 years fighting for the fans. It's about time I did something for myself. And I will make sure I get what I've earned."

You better believe we've got Proving Ground coming up on Monday... no slowing down yet. 8-Woman Inspire Battle Royal: Sung Moon vs. Amber Wright vs. Jessika Boom vs. Calista Vargas vs. La Corsaria vs. Leona Sterling vs. Katherine White vs. Christina Wagner
Donna Nobel vs. La Relampaga
The Limbtakers vs. The Avian Assassins
Nicole Blade vs. Reina del Tigre
Winter Fresh vs. The Golden Ambush
Akira Ryusaki vs. Kellaron Sentarl
SATOMI vs. Felice Santana
Kyle Anderson vs. Victor KintelasWe open this week with a major opportunity for the newcomers to Proving Ground: an 8-woman battle royal to see who will be Titania's next challenger. Who will rise to the challenge, and dare to step into the ring with the frightening power of the new Inspire Champion?
Donna Nobel steps into singles action this week, taking on La Relampaga. The Lightning Luchadora has been on a bit of a roll lately, but Donna's proven she's more than capable of handling anything that comes her way... can Relampaga's speed measure up to Nobel's technique?
The Limbtakers suffered a heartbreaking loss at New Year's Bash, dropping the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships to the Golden Ambush. They'll seek to re-focus themselves here as they take on a tough duo in the Avian Assassins, but there's no telling how this might turn out.
Nicole Blade also finds herself squaring off one-on-one this week, with her sights set on former Inspire Champion Reina del Tigre. Although Reina is no longer champion, a win over her here could still line Nicole up for a shot at Titania in the near future... no doubt she's been itching to get her hands on the newly-crowned champion, knowing she already holds a victory over Titania.
The brand-new Tag Team Champions face their first test, taking on Winter Fresh here. No doubt this could be one of the most intense, fast-paced matches of the night: Rin and Fresh are both well-known for their relentless offense, while the Tigers are very much able to keep pace with this Japanese duo...
Akira Ryusaki fell short of challenging for the Top Prospect Championship, but that hasn't deterred him any. He'll face off against Kellaron Sentarl, seeking to fight his way back towards the top and potentially challenge new Top Prospect, Kyle Anderson, if he can keep winning.
SATOMI has now seen the one thing she'd hoped wouldn't end up happening... Titania now holds the Inspire Championship. The two do not get along in the slightest... and SATOMI wants that gold back around her waist, and off of Titania's. Her path towards that goal starts here, with Felice Santana, making her second appearance of the year (after a match with Della Dwight down in Santana Family Wrestling). Felice has been known to score major upsets before, but can she weather the best striker that Proving Ground's got?
Kyle Anderson finally reached the top of the mountain by taking down Todd Colton at New Year's Bash, capturing the Top Prospect Championship after a long, hard struggle to get his shot at the top. And now, Victor Kintelas wants to re-take his place... and will go through Kyle to do it. Victor gets his chance at redemption here... a win over Kyle would give him a shot at regaining the title Todd took from him many months ago.

I gotta be careful with how much prep goes into some of these shows, man. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/535762414Youtube: youtu.be/rR8eFd9n9NMQuick Results Katherine White won the battle royal La Relampaga def. Donna Nobel The Limbtakers def. The Avian Assassins Nicole Blade def. Reina del Tigre The Golden Ambush def. Winter Fresh Akira Ryusaki def. Kellaron Sentarl Felice Santana def. SATOMI Kyle Anderson def. Victor Kintelas Write-ups Once again, Katherine White proves she's always a threat, no matter how much she might be overlooked among her Academy peers. She turned things up in the closing moments of this one, catching Leona Sterling (the favorite to win) in a flash roll-up, then choking out Calista Vargas to cap off an impressive win. But her night didn't quite end there: A few harsh words were traded between Katherine and the current Inspire Champion, Titania, who came down after the match was finished with the championship around her waist. Both sounded supremely confident in their abilities, but Titania quickly grew tired of the exchange... A crushing Axe Bomber laid Katherine out, Titania yelling at the young rookie before taking her leave. This will easily be the toughest test of Katherine's young career... can she step up against one of the most dangerous women in all of Phoenix Rising? La Relampaga continues to quietly be one of the Inspire division's top talents, steadily making a name for herself as she takes on some of the most recognizable names. A big win off the Sky Twister here leaves Relampaga in a solid position... she could find herself set to challenge for the Inspire Championship behind Katherine, if all continues to go well. Despite their loss at New Year's Bash and the loss of their Tag Team Championships, the Limbtakers didn't back down from this challenge: a marathon, without a doubt, but a hell of a performance that saw Candace working more dangerous moves into her arsenal... though it was a quick-thinking counter into a leglock that picked up the submission win, after the longest match of the night, including the battle royal. Reina del Tigre's luck hasn't turned around yet: faced with another powerhouse, she once again found herself wiped out in record time, as Nicole Blade roared through this match. There's no doubt in anyone's mind: another clash between Blade and Titania is inevitable, but there are others seeking to make their case for that match as well. The Golden Ambush didn't slow down one bit as they dismantled Winter Fresh, reinforcing their place as the reigning Proving Ground Tag Team Champions. It's going to be tough to take them down, judging by this match: a sharp Superkick and a standing SSP, and this one ended very unlike most Phoenix Rising tag matches: fast. This didn't let up for a second once the bell rang, with both men aiming to put the other down in a hurry... but it eventually turned into an all-out brawl, neither wanting to back down as they both broke out every move they could think of. But it was a seated superkick that won the day, Akira narrowly managing to pick up a much-needed victory. Who could've seen this one coming? Felice Santana has become known for her upset victories, and this one was certainly no different, with SATOMI failing to finish the job before Felice was able to catch her in a sudden flash roll-up, picking up a victory that nobody expected going into tonight's show. Kyle Anderson had one important test tonight: now that he's won the Top Prospect Championship, can he look like a champion? And he absolutely rose to the occasion, giving Victor absolutely everything he could handle, no-selling the devastating Cutter, stealing the familiar Kintelas Shotgun, and landing his crushing Five Star Sequence, forcing Victor to tap out and ensuring that Kyle can no longer be doubted in the ring. Katherine White "Lemme make one thing real clear, Titania. You think that just because you came out, talking tough, holding that title and trying to take my head off with that oversized arm of yours, that I'm gonna tuck my tail and cower like a 'good little rookie'? I haven't backed down from a challenge at any point in my career! I've spent the last year in the Academy taking on anyone and everyone, being seen as 'just another wrestler' until I started piling up the wins! It doesn't matter how big you are, how strong you are, what gold's sitting around your waist, I can beat you, and I WILL beat you! I'll wrench those big arms of yours right out of their sockets! I'll drop you with whatever it takes, no matter what you decide you wanna call me... 'rookie', 'kitten', whatever! After our match, you're gonna call me one thing, and one thing only: 'CHAMPION'." Nicole Blade "Listen up, Proving Ground: you're about to see a lot of changes around here for the new year. Because there are two things that are absolutely inevitable. Number one: The Excellent Blades are gonna win the Proving Ground Tag Team Championships. The Golden Ambush is gonna watch their backs, 'cause the only ones that are gonna get ambushed are the Tigers... I already beat the hell out of one, and I can't wait to waste the other two with Donna backing me up. But I'm not stopping there. I'm not SATISFIED just winning those tag titles. Number two: That Inspire Championship Titania's already so proud of winning is gonna be MINE, and mine alone. You can make all your claims about how you're the strongest woman around here, but you're not. I am. I heard you bragging earlier tonight about 'nine minutes, forty-one seconds'. How about eight-twelve, bitch? I've beaten you before, I'll damn well do it again, so you wipe out that little rookie that got her shot tonight, then you and I are gonna finish this once and for all. Then there won't be any doubt anymore who stands at the top of this division."

It's Evergreen day on Thursday, back to business as usual... well, with a new arena, anyway, and a slightly bigger card to match the usual Phoenix Rising length. Iris Coleman vs. Babe Ruthless
Skidmark vs. El Evergringo
Ash Defiant vs. Eternamente Verde
The Demons vs. Rebecca Andrews and Sayaka Saito
Elly Blackwood vs. Concrete Pete
Kevin Royce vs. Veronika Armstrong
eMo (Eddy and Penelope) vs. The Sheridan Brothers
Strawberry Sookie vs. Mercy DevineIt's another Academy debut: the only one headed to Evergreen, Iris Coleman, is set to take on Babe Ruthless in her first match with the fed. We'll see if she can adapt to the new hardcore style, but Babe's not likely to give her time to get used to things... this is a sink-or-swim match.
El Evergringo has a reputation for taking down opponents that, by all rights, should be far above his level... but nevertheless, he's built his whole Evergreen reputation on that fact. Now, he'll look to keep that going against Skidmark, more than a match in size and strength. Evergringo's speed will be his greatest asset, here, along with his unpredictability.
Former Evergreen Champion, Verde, has her sights set on getting back to the top of the fed... but faced with the challenge that is Ash Defiant, the road may be a tougher one than anticipated. Defiant's vicious offense could be more than a match for Verde's violent demeanor... but there's no telling what we may see here.
The Demons were absolutely stunned at New Year's Bash, when eMo pulled off a huge win to capture the Evergreen Tag Team Championships. Now, Tasharun and Kantar will aim to get back on track in the new year as they take on Oakland's Most Metal, with Rebecca and Sayaka looking to make it two huge upsets in a row for the Demons.
Concrete Pete fell short in his challenge for the Evergreen Championship, with Strawberry Sookie holding him off and retaining the belt. Now the big man sets his sights on what some would argue is an even greater challenge: the undefeated Elly Blackwood. Elly has yet to get her shot at the top, but if she continues the run she's on, she could very well find herself challenging for that championship before too long...
This is a rivalry that brewed in the early days of Evergreen, but took a backseat to Kevin vs. Mercy, and Mercy vs. Veronika, after a while. But make no mistake: these two still don't like each other, and Kevin's run of dominance lately could make this a very, very tough matchup.
The brand-new Evergreen Tag Team Champions face their first match with the titles: Eddy and Penelope will square off with a hopefully revitalized Sheridan Brothers... despite the fact that the last time we saw these two in the same ring, Zack nearly broke Vincent in half. We'll see if they can cooperate after that incident... or if eMo will continue to dominate Evergreen with an iron fist.
We cap off Evergreen's first show of the year with the champion and the boss. Strawberry Sookie has taken on all challengers thus far, some would argue beating the odds... but by now, it's become very clear that Sookie could be the most dangerous woman in Evergreen. Mercy, however, would take exception to that... and she'll look to topple the champion as the year begins, perhaps intent on taking the top spot for herself.

A bit of scrambling tonight as I was running late, but things worked out pretty well. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/537243602Youtube: youtu.be/AhC1CQv0UsQQuick Results Babe Ruthless def. Iris Coleman El Evergringo def. Skidmark Ash Defiant def. Eternamente Verde The Demons def. Rebecca Andrews and Sayaka Saito Elly Blackwood def. Concrete Pete Kevin Royce def. Veronika Armstrong eMo def. The Sheridan Brothers Mercy Devine def. Strawberry Sookie Write-ups Iris Coleman's Evergreen debut was stopped in its tracks by a very motivated Babe Ruthless, who plowed through the newcomer without any hesitation. While Iris put up a solid fight, she'll have to start from scratch post-Academy... things have certainly changed. Evergringo continues to stun opponents in the ring, perhaps because they underestimate what he can do. He spent a lot of this match taunting Skidmark, daring him to come and silence him... and instead, Skidmark ate a Destroyer and Evergringo put this one away with another incredible win. Ash Defiant was clearly out to conquer tonight, and absolutely wiped the floor with Verde... likely losing her temper after that familiar scythe came out to play. From that point on, Ash took control, and a pair of vicious powerbombs put this one away. Try as they might, Rebecca and Sayaka just couldn't put this one away before the Demons started bringing out the big guns: specifically, a Triple Powerbomb on Rebecca, while Tasharun dealt with Sayaka. The former tag champs might be looking for a return match against eMo in the future... Elly Blackwood remains undefeated. It's hardly a surprise to hear that phrase anymore, with the Invincible One now holding an 11-0 record since arriving in Evergreen... and she stuck around to observe the next match, for reasons that became quickly apparent. Kevin Royce rekindled something of an old grudge against Veronika Armstrong, but it may not hold any weight now: he dismantled the former Evergreen Champion, and then turned his attention to Elly, who remained on the outside, though she slid into the ring once the match was over, the two sharing harsh words before locking up in the middle of the ring, trying to force the other to back down... but neither budged, leaving them in a stalemate and set to clash in the near future. Just when it seemed like the Sheridans had put everything together again, Eddy Introspect struck again, scoring the victory out of nowhere. A few close calls in this one, but the tag champs once again show that they're capable of pulling off nearly anything... Mercy Devine seems to have decided to take the future of the Evergreen Championship into her own hands: with eMo holding all of the titles in the fed, Mercy seems determined to wrest at least one of them back to one of her own... or herself, as the case may be, as despite a returning Luci supplying Sookie with as many light tubes as she could muster, Mercy still managed to come out on top with a vicious Tombstone... perhaps mocking the woman at ringside by specifically using Luci's finisher to win the match, and guarantee that we'll be seeing these two meet again soon enough.
