With only two shows left before New Year's Bash, Phoenix Rising seeks to make them a big deal: and this means that this upcoming Proving Ground is going to be quite a bit bigger than most. Pre-Show: Christina Wagner vs. Emma Travers
Pre-Show: Kellaron Sentarl vs. Silver Hawk
Pre-Show: Jessika Boom vs. Katherine White
Pre-Show (BONUS!): Eternamente Verde vs. Allison Avery vs. Leona Sterling
The Excellent Blades vs. The Heyward Sisters
Elly Blackwood vs. Mallory Spaulding
Vivian Forester and Felice Santana vs. Winter Fresh
Kanjirin Tonorian vs. Argent vs. Todd Colton
Amber Wright and Sung Moon vs. The Limbtakers
Victor Kintelas vs. Rey de la Carne
Anna Bryant vs. Veronika Armstrong to become #1 Contender for the Inspire Championship
Hugo Dirksen vs. Kyle Anderson vs. Mascara Avispa vs. Kevin Royce to become #1 Contender for the Top Prospect Championship
As you can see, this show exists to get as many people on the card as possible ahead of the major event... including an extra match over what a usual card will have. A lot of multi-person matches, more tag matches than usual... I may drop back to 7PM for this one just to ensure I don't go too late, 'cause this one's gonna take some time.
Christina Wagner's debut was less than stellar in a loss to Anna Bryant, but the German-Canadian powerhouse claims she's shaken off her nerves and will be ready this week. A match with Emma Travers will almost certainly help her case, and get her back on track.
Kellaron Sentarl takes on the former Top Prospect Champion in Silver Hawk, looking to renew his singles career without entirely forsaking his fledgling tag career alongside Victor. This will be an opportunity for Kellaron to show that he can still stand on his own.
Jessika Boom made quite a splash last show, picking up her first win, and now she sets her sights on the returning Katherine White, back from injury and no longer having to worry about Natasha Clover. Two rookies set to try and prove their worth to the world.
A bonus 3-way match, with Verde, Allison and Leona all striving to find that breakout performance they've been after. It'll be a hectic one, no doubt, and a definite clash of styles: a wild hardcore luchadora, a lariat-throwing brawler, and a Scottish MMA champion...
The Excellent Blades are after the tag division now, having taken down Victor and Kellaron last time out, and now they renew their budding rivalry with the Heyward sisters. Listalva seems to be back to her old ways, and that can't mean anything good for the Blades...
The toughest women on Proving Ground square off once again, with Elly and Mallory continuing their own rivalry, finesse against power one more time. It's sure to be one of the hardest-hitting matches of the night... at least, given that Mallory doesn't drop the Invincible on her head.
Winter Fresh is back in action, Rin Ryusaki and Fresh Suzuki primed to make their impact once again as they take on the team of Vivian Forester and Felice Santana. All four women have had some very impressive showings these past few months, so this match will surely be one that doesn't let up for a second... as there's sure to be a lot of high-flying here.
The biggest powerhouses of Proving Ground, Kanjirin and Argent, step into the ring... but there's a small wrench in this one, with Todd Colton stepping in between them as well. Can the Obnoxious One survive what's sure to be an absolute brawl?
The Limbtakers have one final match to stay sharp ahead of challenging Pure Gold: a brand-new team, with Amber Wright approaching Sung Moon to see if a team-up between them might work out. Two rookies taking on the #1 contenders... do they have what it takes to bring down Candace and RNA?
Rey de la Carne has one final test before finding out who he'll face at New Year's Bash. He takes on Victor Kintelas, on the same night a #1 contender will be determined in the main event... and of course, if Victor wins here, he could turn the Top Prospect match into a 3-way affair. Can Patricide carry Victor to a championship?
The two most impressive women of the past few weeks, without a doubt, have been Anna Bryant and Veronika Armstrong. The two meet to determine who will challenge Inspire Champion Layla Al-Amin, in a match that may also decide whether an Evergreen Championship match will be at that show as well... after all, while Veronika may be willing to go twice in one night, Phoenix Rising has taken to avoiding this as of late.
Four potential contenders will step into the ring to find out who will challenge Rey de la Carne for the Top Prospect Championship: the Dutchman, Hugo Dirksen, has looked like a wrecking ball from the moment he debuted, and was given the opportunity surprisingly early into his career. Kyle Anderson has been perhaps the best overall over the past couple of months, while Mascara Avispa has been a perennial contender, on top of being one of the best juniors in the world. Finally, Kevin Royce, Evergreen's owner and resident powerhouse, rounds out the field... only one can go on to face Rey de la Carne, but they may also have to deal with Victor Kintelas, if it comes to that.

I've got a few things to mention about how the rest of 2018 is gonna play out for me. Firstly, the 17th, 24th and 31st are, of course, all Phoenix Rising shows: Proving Ground, then Showdown, then New Year's Bash on the very last day of the year. There's two more shows, however, that I intend to run before this year is out. Firstly, next Thursday, December 20th, I'm intending to run Evergreen Wrestling Episode 2. The card for that will go a little something like this: Penelope Lea vs. Laenara Kintelas
Zack Sheridan vs. Kantar
Vincent Sheridan vs. Kevin Royce
eMo (Sookie and Eddy) vs. Eternamente Verde and El Evergringo
Veronika Armstrong vs. Ash Defiant
Rebecca Andrews vs. Mercy DevineAs you can tell, there's still heavy influence from Hana's crew on this show, and it's probably gonna be that way for a good while, I suspect. But I greatly appreciate Hana allowing me the use of them, 'cause Evergreen would be a sad sight without her help. Finally, on Saturday, December 29th, the Blackwood Academy will open its doors for the first time, and hold an inaugural tournament to decide which rookie will stand as its first champion. While more established members of the Phoenix Rising roster are coming to the Academy in the hopes of righting themselves, they will not be in the tournament... nor will they compete for the Academy Championship, which will be limited to the rookie class. There's a couple of names that are borderline cases (Anna Bryant, Vivian Forester) but they've yet to really break out for themselves thus far. I've finalized the tournament bracket. There's a few names here that have yet to be seen before, these are new edits of mine that I'm still working on (or have made as "pure" rookies: they have 60 points, a fairly simple moveset, and that's about it.) The bracket can be found here: challonge.com/z1b49dccHeather Wild, Rhiannon Banes, and Keiko Maeda are all "pure" rookies with the above criteria. Hana's Nana Yoon also falls into that same range. The rest of the field save Christina Wagner, Anna Bryant, Vivian Forester and Leona Sterling are rookies that are one step above that, mostly hovering in the 80-100 point range. With all this in place, we have our roadmap for the last couple of weeks of 2018.

One final curiosity before Proving Ground on Monday. I went through my title histories to see who had reigned as a champion the longest, and... well, there's a few answers to that question, really.
First of all, I couldn't determine the lengths of the inaugural World, Women's and Tag Team Champions, as I'm not entirely certain when the events happened. Those three were all decided in the before-times, prior to the introduction of Proving Ground and Showdown, but suffice to say, none of those initial reigns were particularly long anyway, I'd suspect only around a month at the most, MAYBE two.
So, what single reign was the longest one? Well, I do have a solid date for Phoenix Rising #7, the night Lance Marshall became World Champion: that event occurred on January 5, 2018, which happened to be a Friday. Yeah, I hadn't decided to run Mondays yet at that point (The first Proving Ground was January 22, for reference). Lance was champion clear up until Showdown #10, taking place on June 4, for a grand total of 150 days, making him the longest-reigning champion in Phoenix Rising's short history, to this point.
Well, he would be, but there's a little wrinkle in there: The Rising Storm.
See, the Rising Storm won the tag titles the same night Lance won the World Championship... and, strangely enough, they LOST the titles the same night Lance lost his! As a result, Lance and the Rising Storm share the prize for longest single championship reign... which, might I add, Pure Gold are threatening as of right now.
Pure Gold, as of their upcoming title defense at New Year's Bash, will have been champions for 147 days by that point. If they successfully defend against the Limbtakers, they will surpass those two reigns, and not only be the longest-reigning champions of Phoenix Rising going into 2019, they're also already the longest-reigning inaugural champions, just barely sneaking by Blake Dynamite's inaugural run as Top Prospect (which is only due to the fact that the show Blake lost his title on was run a day early. The show's live, that's the day it happened, that's how it works out.)
Incidentally, Xiu Mei Li holds the incredible prize of "most days as a champion" in all of Phoenix Rising. She's one of only two people in the entire company to have been a champion on more than one occasion, with two reigns as tag team champions alongside Anahera... but her recent claiming of the Women's Championship means she stands alone at the top, with 35 days as of New Year's Bash (her next defense) in addition to her 206 days as a tag team champion, giving her a grand total of AT LEAST 241 days as a champion in 2018. Now that's a feat.
This probably isn't all that interesting to anyone else, but it was a fun exercise for me to work out.
The shortest reign, by the way, belongs to poor Natasha Clover, whose Inspire Championship reign lasted only 35 days... although if Layla Al-Amin or Rey de la Carne lose their titles at New Year's Bash, they'll beat that record, and if Xiu Mei Li does the same, she'll equal it.
(Most every reign is gonna be a multiple of seven unless I get weird with the scheduling. :V)
(Also, all of this is based on me not fucking up the math somewhere along the way. Which is ENTIRELY possible.)

Love that deep dive into the numbers there, very interesting to see some of the info on the title reigns. Felice Felice Santana: This is gonna be such an exciting match tonight! I mean, you have four women here who can run like the wind, and if there's anyone who knows what it's like to run like the wind, I don't mean to be arrogant or anything like that, but I really do know how to run fast and fly high, because that's what my family taught me to do, so that's what I do to win! And then me and Vivian, we're both so fast that I feel like what we do out there is something special, and I really hope the fans like it, because I like it, and Vivian likes doing what she does! But then we have the Winter Fresh girls and I think it's almost scary to think that they could even keep up with us, so we'll have to be faster than ever before, and maybe we'll break the speed of light and fly into the atmosphere to win this match! I can't wait!

A long one for the final Proving Ground of 2018, but a great show top to bottom, so let's dive in. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/350702005Youtube: youtu.be/LCe9Wx6Ia68Quick Results Christina Wagner def. Emma Travers Kellaron Sentarl def. Silver Hawk Jessika Boom def. Katherine White Leona Sterling def. Eternamente Verde and Allison Avery
The Excellent Blades def. The Heyward Sisters Elly Blackwood def. Mallory Spaulding Winter Fresh def. Vivian Forester and Felice Santana Argent def. Kanjirin Tonorian and Todd Colton Amber Wright def. Sung Moon (A replacement as the Limbtakers would take the night off) Victor Kintelas def. Rey de la Carne Veronika Armstrong def. Anna Bryant Kyle Anderson def. Hugo Dirksen, Kevin Royce and Mascara Avispa Write-ups A much better showing from Christina Wagner this week, but a lot has to be said about the heart Emma Travers showed here. She held tough for a while, and nearly scored a huge upset, but Christina's power finally won out in the end. Kellaron was on fire tonight, and while Silver Hawk brought all he could muster, Kellaron would finally come out ahead... while the match itself was fantastic, the ending wound up being a little bit weak as Kellaron's running knee never really got up to full speed. Jessika didn't hesitate to go all-out here, dishing out all she could to the returning Katherine, and it paid off beautifully. While her big-time moonsault had issues with landing in the ropes, she'd eventually land one closer to the center of the ring, and picks up another great win ahead of the upcoming Academy tournament. This match was simply efficient. Verde would catch Allison with a quick roll-up to eliminate her, but couldn't avoid Leona's crafty submission game, getting caught from behind and choked out. Verde goes into Thursday's Evergreen show in a foul mood... and being teamed up with El Evergringo isn't likely to help that. An intense tag team affair that showed the glaring weaknesses between the Heyward sisters: they're not a team, and it showed tonight, with Anari failing to make saves she could've easily made if she'd been more focused. The Blades, meanwhile, were a well-oiled machine, and systematically picked apart both sisters until Nicole could spear Lis straight out of her boots, scoring another major win. Perhaps the two toughest women on Proving Ground, Elly and Mallory may always be at odds... and tonight, Elly would score a blow for herself, working Mallory's arms in an effort to eliminate her most dangerous asset, her powerful suplexes. The tactic worked wonders, and a big diving splash from the top rope would seal this one for the Invincible Blackwood, and continue Pure Gold's frustrations. This match never let up for a second, and how could it, given who was involved? Winter Fresh returned to action in a big way, though, and would ultimately pick up the win on the wild abandon of the returning Fresh Suzuki. Argent continued the Team Proving Ground streak with a huge victory over Kanjirin and Todd here, though Kanjirin goes home with the knowledge that he was pinned by Todd Colton... not a good night for Pure Gold, but Team Proving Ground continues to look utterly dominant. With the Limbtakers having the night off, Amber Wright and Sung Moon, set to team up for the first time, decided to test each other instead. Amber came out ahead in a wild one, the two rookies both looking good, and Amber continues to look like a worthy successor to Winifred's legacy. Victor Kintelas continues to rise through the ranks now that he's cast aside Pure Gold and the foul legacy of his father. A huge victory over Rey de la Carne puts him in line for the Top Prospect Championship... making the match at New Year's Bash a 3-way contest. This was hard to watch. Veronika clearly wants another title around her waist, and Anna wasn't going to stop her... before a minute had passed, Veronika had already busted Anna open, and while the young rookie continued to try and stand up to the Evergreen Champion, Veronika would simply wipe her out with almost no effort. Does Layla Al-Amin stand any chance of beating her at New Year's Bash? Twenty minutes of wild, constant action, followed by a rapid-fire finish that left the ring shockingly empty in just moments. Avispa rolled up Hugo Dirksen in a flash, only to walk into Kyle Anderson's Baltimore Bomb, while Kevin Royce looked on... and the two stood face-to-face, before Kyle landed another Bomb on Royce, scoring a stunning victory! Kyle goes on to New Year's Bash to face Rey de la Carne and Victor Kintelas for the Top Prospect Championship. Veronika Armstrong "Look, Anna, this isn't anything personal. But when I'm given an opportunity, I don't let anyone stand in the way of it. I don't feel great about beating you bloody like that, but if there's one way to make sure you don't get caught off guard... it's put your opponent into a situation they're not used to. You're a great kid, you're gonna be a hell of a talent before too long, but you're not cut out for my brand of violence. So don't hang your head... you got that Academy thing coming up, so you go into there, you kick ass, and you show everyone that just 'cause I took you down, doesn't mean you aren't a badass.
As for Layla Al-Amin... you better be ready. I'm gonna come at you with everything I've got, and you better believe that I'm gonna go into 2019 with two championships to my name." Kyle Anderson "It's about high time I stopped sitting in the mid-card, and about time I stopped hearing about 'potential', and started to be the person I'm meant to be. I'm coming for the Top Prospect Championship, I'm coming for a title that by all rights is practically -made- for me, and at the end of the year, Rey de la Carne and Victor Kintelas aren't gonna know what hit them... 'cause I'll guarantee you one thing, Avispa and Kevin sure as hell didn't." Remember, Evergreen Wrestling returns this Thursday with episode 2 at 7 PM Pacific.

A few things this week: firstly, the card for Showdown #24, the last one of 2018. Pre-Show: Cassie Rose vs. Fresh Suzuki
Pre-Show: Kileas Kintelas vs. Binak Tonorian
Pre-Show: Sophia Moretti vs. Natasha Clover vs. Rachel White vs. Mercy Devine vs. Besos vs. Haruka Matsura vs. Angel Leblanc
Kantar vs. Lance Marshall
Eri Sentarl vs. Winifred Wright
Blake Dynamite vs. Telan Kintelas
Les Beautes Blondes (Michelle/Elise) vs. The Rising Storm
Fenix Oscuro vs. Rilantha De Nav
Urani Whitemist vs. Firehawk Sentarl
Kaelara Sentarl vs. Shiana Sentarl
Tasharun vs. The Phantom Thief, #1 Contender for the World ChampionshipCassie Rose gets the next opportunity to earn a promotion to the main roster, but she has to get through Fresh Suzuki to get it. Straight off of a tag victory alongside Rin Ryusaki, Fresh has always been a solid force on Proving Ground. Cassie will have to step up her game this week if she wants to make her way to the big time. Kileas once again finds himself staring down the giant, just one week before he's due to challenge for the Tag Team Championship. One can only hope Binak doesn't break the Alpha Villain before then. Seven women step into the ring in search of a major victory, one that could mean a lot towards determining who might be next in line for the Women's Championship. The last woman standing is almost certain to enter consideration to challenge Xiu Mei Li... or, perhaps, Kaelara Sentarl, if it comes to that at New Year's Bash. The match that didn't happen last time happens properly this week, with Lance returning from an absence that's yet to really have a full explanation. Kantar's coming off of an impressive showing against Office mega-star Cowboy Johnston... we'll see if Lance can match his Texan rival. Eri Sentarl wants to prepare for her upcoming battle with Fenix Oscuro in the biggest way possible: by taking on the most dangerous woman on the roster in Winifred Wright. Eri's quick, but does she have enough resilience to handle the powerhouse veteran? Blake Dynamite and Telan Kintelas haven't met for some time... and now, with the dramatic change Telan's gone through as of late, it seems this one will be a much different story than their previous meeting. Blake's still finding his footing on Showdown, but this could be the match he needs to get back on track. Les Beautes Blondes remind the world that they're still here... with Elise Pichon and Michelle Rochefort taking center stage this time to square off with the Rising Storm, once again re-igniting their eternal rivalry. While Eri challenges the devastating power of Winifred Wright, Oscuro throws herself into battle against the legendary Rilantha De Nav. Oscuro has carved a path of destruction through the roster, only stumbling over Kaelara Sentarl... could she add another notch to her belt in taking down the veteran? Firehawk Sentarl seems determined to reclaim some of his old singles glory as of late... but against former World Champion Urani Whitemist, even Firehawk in his prime would surely have trouble. This match is sure to be one hell of a war. Kaelara Sentarl has one final challenge to run through before she feels ready to take on Xiu Mei Li... doing what her older sister did last week, and taking on their mother, Shiana. It's almost certain that Kae doesn't resort to the same methods Eri did, however... her temper is far more restrained and she's never been one for excessive violence. With the return of the Phantom Thief, so comes the return of this incredible rivalry. The Thief has brought down the Demon more than once in the past... but Tasharun seems to be on the warpath, determined to claim the World Championship once again. A win over the Phantom Thief would do much to soothe his ego, and a subsequent win over the Black Dragon would silence the last doubt anyone has... but first, he has to weather the storm that is the Change of Heart. Meanwhile, going into 2019 and the opening of the Blackwood Academy, there's been a shake-up in Phoenix Rising. A number of Proving Ground's younger women have committed themselves to the Academy full-time, bringing the roster down to a slightly more manageable level. The Academy roster is, then, as follows: Anna Bryant Christina Wagner Vivian Forester Heather Wild (True rookie) Rhiannon Banes (True rookie) Keiko Maeda (True rookie) Iris Coleman Jessika Boom Leona Sterling Katherine White Amber Wright Emma Travers Alena Ramsey Sung Moon Baby Peregrine Nana YoonThese, of course, are the sixteen wrestlers in the inaugural tournament. Others are certain to follow: rumor has it that Tara Helmsley is also set to join the roster shortly after the tournament, and will likely be on the Academy's first show as well. A few names on the list have yet to be seen: the true rookies are just that, only just now beginning their careers, while Iris Coleman and Alena Ramsey are both relative newcomers as well, yet to make their official debuts but are slightly further along in their training.
(Essentially, what's happening here is that any of the wrestlers on the Academy roster that were on Proving Ground have been moved, full-time, to the Academy, and those above 100 points have been brought back down to that level, -except- Anna Bryant and Vivian Forester, due to their extra experience over the rest. This is going to make the Academy much more balanced overall, and also frees up a lot of the Proving Ground roster so as not to let them be forgotten every week. Booking is gonna be a whooooooole lot easier with these changes, I think.)
Final note on these edits: I will -not- be updating them in their nerfed forms at the moment. They're going to stick with their current states for now, but to put this into perspective:
The true rookies are all sitting at 60 points. Basic movesets, maybe one or two things they can do that are special but not overly flashy.
The next step up, edits like Jessika Boom and Katherine White, who only just started their careers, are sitting at 80 points. They've got their characters and movesets already raring to go, but are still pretty green.
After that comes the more established rookies, like Christina Wagner and Amber Wright. They have 100 points, and definitely have more going for them than the younger, less experience rookies.
Finally, Anna Bryant and Vivian Forester, as they've been around on Proving Ground for some time, are at 115 points. Enough to put them a step above, but not so much that they'll overwhelm the others.

A solid show from the Evergreen crew this time around, with an explosive ending that may have repercussions later on... Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/352050054Youtube: youtu.be/A58RnoKtYJsQuick Results Laenara Kintelas def. Penelope Lea Kantar def. Zack Sheridan Kevin Royce def. Vincent Sheridan eMo def. "El Verde" (named by Evergringo) Veronika Armstrong def. Ash Defiant Rebecca Andrews def. Mercy Devine Write-ups A hot start to the show, with outsider Laenara showing up in a big way this time around, after a disappointing defeat her first go-around in Evergreen. Tense right to the finish, Lae would ultimately land a big moonsault and take the win after a relentless match full of offense from both sides. Hard-fought by the younger Sheridan, but Kantar proved too strong here despite a solid effort. The Triple Powerbomb remains the tool of destruction, scoring upsets and dominant victories alike for the demon. Vincent was equally determined to hang in for as long as possible, weathering the storm of Royce's offense for as long as he could, and nearly stealing the match a couple of times. But Kevin finally would overpower Vincent and score the win off a big Iron Claw Slam. The only match of the night with any blood in it, shockingly: both Eddy and Sookie were busted open in the course of this one, but it was definitely worthwhile, as while Evergringo was distracted in dealing with Sookie (and handling her without much issue), Eddy was busy laying Verde out, and scored the pinfall victory before Evergringo even realized Verde was down. A match that began as Veronika utterly dominating slowly began to turn around in Ash's favor after some time... Veronika struggling to put Defiant away for a while, and nearly letting her get back into the match completely. The Evergreen Champion would finally lock in another Dragon Clutch to get the win, but it definitely was a far greater struggle than the one she had with Anna Bryant this past Monday. Rebecca Andrews made her Evergreen debut in search of vengeance for her partner and band-mate... after Mercy defeated Veronika last show, Rebecca was determined to return the favor to the psychotic Mercy, and she paid it back in SPADES. A Go To Sleep sent Rebecca's knee slamming HARD into Mercy's face, and Mercy did exactly as Rebecca intended... knocked out cold on impact, and leaving Rebecca standing tall at the end of the night. Eternamente Verde <Idiot! What's wrong with you? You can't keep your eyes on what's going on around you and don't notice I'm in trouble? THIS is why I refuse to acknowledge you, to team with you, and to humor your STUPID team name! I only let this match happen because you... earned it last time, by defeating me, but all you'll ever do is drag me down. When next we meet, I'll be sure you never have any more delusions about me again... not only will I find someone more worthy than YOU, we'll be sure to leave you broken and bloody... as you deserve.> Rebecca Andrews and Veronika Armstrong "Looks like we're all set again. One show of stumbling, and it's right back to being on top, with my best friend at my side." Veronika grins, an arm around Rebecca's shoulders. "How'd it feel, Mercy? Yeah, you got me last time we met... choked me right out. So we knew that the only way to get you back..."
"Was to knock your crazy bitch-ass out." Rebecca smirks, giving a bit of a shrug. "So you better be paying attention when you wake up. You fuck with one of us, you deal with ALL of us. Cause the rest of the band is coming soon, and unless you got friends to back you up... there's not a chance in hell you're ever getting one over on OUR CHAMP ever again."

The final Showdown of 2018 has wrapped, and now there's only two shows left for the entire year: the upcoming Blackwood Academy tournament taking place this Saturday, and next week's New Year's Bash, the final Phoenix Rising show of 2018. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/353973021Youtube: youtu.be/5jyjYTZme-QQuick Results Cassie Rose def. Fresh Suzuki (management has decided to promote Cassie to Showdown) Binak Tonorian def. Kileas Kintelas Angel Leblanc won the battle royal
Lance Marshall def. Kantar Winifred Wright def. Eri Sentarl Blake Dynamite def. Telan Kintelas Les Beautes Blondes def. The Rising Storm Fenix Oscuro def. Rilantha De Nav Urani Whitemist def. Firehawk Sentarl Kaelara Sentarl def. Shiana Sentarl The Phantom Thief def. Tasharun to become #1 contender for the World Championship Write-ups A face-off between two Proving Ground stars led to Cassie struggling to keep up with the fast-paced offense that Fresh brought to the party... but Cassie would ultimately overpower her on her way to a victory that she seemed to risk throwing away at any moment. This was a moral victory for Kileas... he survived, and lasted longer than most do against the giant. Still, Binak comes away with another impressive win. Things seemed to be progressing like most battle royals tend to... at least until Angel Leblanc turned up the heat late in the match, once the ring was down to four competitors. She laid waste to her three foes in an impressively short span of time, and stood tall as the sole survivor... to the shock of many. Cowboy Johnston is clearly more the showman than fellow Texan Lance Marshall, as Lance didn't let this one get going very often. Kantar just couldn't keep pace. Eri stepped up to challenge one of the baddest women in Phoenix Rising ahead of her match with Oscuro at New Year's Bash... perhaps she should've taken on lighter fare, as while she fought valiantly, she was completely outgunned here, and fell victim to a rookie mistake. The second meeting between these two ended in a much different way than the first... despite Telan's bulking up, Blake was one step ahead the whole way, until he -nailed- a huge diving cutter, and scored a much-needed victory to even the score between them. A stunning upset by the Blondes to continue their long-standing rivalry with the Rising Storm, with Michelle Rochefort seemingly knocking Anahera senseless with a diving knee, and Xiu Mei being a step too slow to break up the pin. A big statement by the Blondes. Oscuro was vicious, relentless in this match, as she too tackled a veteran in Rilantha De Nav... but unlike Eri, she made no mistakes, and forced the tag champ to submit in brutal fashion. Now it's becoming a worry... can Eri ever hope to beat her now? Firehawk hung in for as long as he could despite getting busted open early on, and nearly managed to pull off the win, as well... but Urani's power finally came back to haunt him, after the former World Champion shrugged off a huge Brainbuster, landing an Ushi-goroshi and sealing the match. A hard-fought match in every sense... and Kae, unlike her sister, didn't need any outside help to pull it off. Once again borrowing Hana Brightly's famous Rainbow Bridge, quickly becoming one of Kae's most devastating moves, she picked up the win, and now looks stronger than ever going into her challenge against Xiu Mei Li for the Women's Championship. The Thief has done it again. Enduring everything that the demon had to offer, the Phantom Thief nevertheless still had to work for this win, as Tasharun kicked out of everything he had... including the Change of Heart. But a second Mandible Claw was enough to put this one to rest, and sets the Thief up for the biggest match of his life... a chance one-on-one with the Black Dragon for the World Championship. Fenix Oscuro "Eri now sits at her lowest point yet... defeated, jumping at shadows, afraid of what's to come in just one week. Now, I know we've agreed to our match... but I don't believe we made it formal, now did we? You and I will meet inside of a cage... no running away, no surrendering. I want to see you crushed completely... and then, you'll answer to me, and no one else. Remember what you said. Your fate will rest in my hands... and I intend to hold you to those words."

The Blackwood Academy's first show contained a one-night tournament, to determine who would be the Academy's first champion... who would be the rookie that stood tall at the end of the night? When the dust settled... When all was said and done, your winner, and Academy Champion, is LEONA STERLING! Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/356226123Youtube: youtu.be/ThpWC5NO7N4Quick Results Round of 16

FINAL
Leona Sterling def. Christina Wagner Write-ups Round of 16A hot start to the night as Christina set the tone: she was going to be the one to beat, without a doubt. Vivian gave this one her best, but Wagner overwhelmed her and came away with the big first-round victory. This was as good a debut as anyone could ever want. Iris Coleman made her debut in beyond impressive fashion, and while Jessika gave this one her all, Iris was just a bit too much in the end, planting the Dynamite fangirl with a massive backdrop that put her away, and put Iris on a collision course with another powerhouse. Emma did her best to ground Peregrine here, but the young luchadora seemed to have things well in hand near the end of the match... at least until Emma snapped her into a rollup that narrowly took the win, just barely squeaking Emma by into the quarterfinal. Katherine White was in no mood to see her night end so soon, and took it to Sung Moon with no hesitation. She delivered no less than THREE Kamigoyes in this match, the third scoring the big win over the young Korean. In the lower half of the bracket, Leona Sterling set her own tone. Picking Amber Wright apart, the Scottish fighter ran her way through Amber Wright and never even had to bring her dangerous ground game to bear... Either Alena was beyond motivated tonight, or Anna's head was elsewhere, but there was no doubt that Alena simply wiped the floor with the young Boise native. No doubt Alena was eager to take on her fellow Scot in Leona in the second round. The true rookies faced off at the bottom of the bracket, and Nana Yoon made herself the center of attention for a time, taking down the Welsh Rhiannon Banes with her impressive German suplex. Heather Wild didn't back down against the young Japanese powerhouse that was Keiko Maeda. Fighting her way out of a powerbomb, Heather would land a double-arm DDT and pick up the win, in what would be a very good night for the aspiring heel. QuarterfinalAlmost certainly the match of the night, with Iris Coleman looking like an absolute beast even in defeat. Iris was bloody for most of this match, and yet still refused to back down time and time again, but Christina would finally land a huge Hercules Cutter, ultimately taking the match. But Iris clearly has a strong future in the Academy. Emma Travers continued an improbable run as she took on Katherine White, and picked the brash young woman apart with ease. Her Surgical Precision (Jail Hold) would end this one in stunningly brief fashion. While Alena absolutely obliterated poor Anna Bryant in the first round, she ran into a wall in Leona Sterling, unable to keep pace with the quick, precise strikes. Leona flattened Alena with another rush of strikes and moved on to the semifinal. Heather Wild made sure that she was seen as the best of the true rookies, as she brought down Nana Yoon, landing a big elbow drop late in the match to score a hard-fought victory. Heather was heard backstage: "Bring her on. I'll put Leona to sleep if she takes her eyes off me for a second!" SemifinalAs impressive as Emma was in her first two matches, Christina Wagner put her run to an end here, overpowering Emma with her raw strength and sharp elbow strikes, eventually flattening Emma with a running elbow out of the corner. Still, there's no doubt that Emma is not the weak young woman that we saw debut months ago on Proving Ground. Heather wanted to put Leona to sleep, but instead found herself steadily being torn apart by Leona's strikes, and for the first time in the tournament, her Guillotine hold. Heather tried to score the upset on a number of occasions, but Leona would take her down with another strike rush, and made her way into the final. ExhibitionNobody really anticipated Eve being a major factor in this match, and yet, she was surprisingly effective in the ring. Shiana and Ril seemed to have trouble working together, while Eve and Winifred appeared to be on the same page... and Eve would finally get Shiana isolated in her corner, locking a Cross Armbreaker on the Queen of Phoenix Rising, and forcing the tapout to end the trainer's exhibition. Final MatchChristina Wagner was dominant throughout the entire tournament... until she ran into Leona Sterling. The redheaded Scot was a machine here, steadily wearing Christina down before she finally took the German powerhouse down, landed a diving elbow, and scored the tournament victory and the Academy Championship. Congratulations to Leona Sterling! Going forward, I'm expecting the Academy to run "televised" (that is, streamed) shows on the last Saturday of every month, along with shows that won't be recorded around the 15th of each month. This should keep an approximate schedule of about one Academy show on a slightly-more-than two weeks basis. I'll be posting a separate Academy thread shortly, as well, to open it up to newcomers.

An incredible show to close out 2018, New Year's Bash gave us one hell of a ride... Bring on the new year, it's time to look forward to 2019! Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/357156602Youtube: youtu.be/nf2tZT4q-4gQuick Results Besos def. Tonya Reese The Sheridan Brothers def. eMo (Eddy and Sookie) Eve Blackwood def. Leona Sterling Pure Gold def. The Limbtakers to retain the Proving Ground Tag Team Championship Layla Al-Amin def. Veronika Armstrong to retain the Inspire Championship Victor Kintelas def. Kyle Anderson and Rey de la Carne to become the NEW Top Prospect! Firehawk Sentarl and Rilantha De Nav def. Kileas Kintelas and Winifred Wright to retain the Phoenix Rising Tag Team Championship The Black Dragon def. The Phantom Thief to retain the Phoenix Rising World Championship Kaelara Sentarl def. Xiu Mei Li to become the NEW Phoenix Rising Women's Champion! Eri Sentarl def. Fenix Oscuro in a cage match! Write-ups A strong opener that saw a lot of back-and-forth between the two guest stars from Wrestle Parade, but Besos reminded everyone that she's always, ALWAYS a threat... when Besos gets what she wants, everyone wins. Except the person who doesn't win. Hold on, I'm sure there's a better analogy for this. Your typical Evergreen chaos: fast-paced, no rules, just a lot of brawling and a few weapon shots before Vincent landed a Twist of Fate on Sookie for the win, while Eddy was distracted dealing with Zack. A very, very hard-hitting match between two women out for similar goals: and Eve executed her gameplan far better than the young Scottish rookie. She systematically destroyed Leona's arms before snapping her up in a sharp Small Package Bomb, and the old veteran trainer wins in her first singles match in quite some time. A good effort from the Limbtakers in the title rematch, but Pure Gold seemed to have their strategy much straighter this time around, and with the victory, are now guaranteed the record for the longest championship reign in Phoenix Rising's short history. The inaugural champions have yet to lose their titles... how long will it be before someone can take them down? Maybe the strongest performance of Layla Al-Amin's career, absolutely dismantling the Evergreen Champion in defense of her own Inspire Championship. Layla was unstoppable here, and there was simply no way for Veronika Armstrong to keep up. The Inspire Championship remains firmly on the Egyptian. Chaos reigned for the first part of this match with all three men in the ring... but a big elbow drop from Rey took Kyle out of the picture, and left only Victor and the champion to go at it for another ten minutes of action. Victor threw everything he could at Rey, and while the champion kicked out of almost everything, one final leaping cutter finally put the match to rest, and gave Victor Kintelas gold for the first time in his career... after over a year of the hunt. Everything you could've expected from these two teams, fierce rivals squaring off without hesitation... but in the end, the champions once again proved the better team, taking down Kileas and Winifred once again to stay on top of the tag team division. Who can possibly stop them going into 2019? Dragon was in no mood tonight, and Thief didn't seem to have it in him to keep the pace where he needed to keep it. An overwhelming, dominant performance from the World Champion, erasing any worries about her physical condition... this was not the match of someone who's working hurt. Kaelara Sentarl has risen to the occasion once more, and finally, FINALLY, claims a championship for herself, after a few misfires. On the back of the famous Rainbow Bridge, she's finally reached the top, her first championship in Phoenix Rising... and unlike her AAW run, she seems intent on keeping this one for a long while. Everything was on the line for Eri Sentarl in this match. She'd staked her career, her very fate on the outcome of this match, swearing that she'd give herself up to Oscuro if she lost. And then, she did everything in her power to make sure she didn't. An absolute war inside the steel cage, a brawl for the ages, with absolutely NO quit in either woman clear up to the very end. Eri didn't hesitate to pay back every last bit of suffering Oscuro had inflicted on her over the past few months, while Oscuro was intent on dealing out even more punishment to her hated rival. But when the dust settled, and the bell rang, Eri finally stood tall, standing over a beaten Oscuro, knocked flat by a seated superkick... and Eri Sentarl ends her year with a huge, resounding victory over the greatest enemy she's ever known. Eri Sentarl "What more needs to be said? What do I have to say about what happened out there? I put everything on the line to give myself something more to fight for. I risked everything against you, and kept that knowledge in the back of my head, kept telling myself when things were at their worst: 'if you give up now, you'll lose everything'. I was not going to let you beat me. I was not going to run away, and I was NOT going to surrender! So remember tonight whenever you start thinking you're that much better than me... remember the night you almost had me -right- where you wanted me, and let that chance slip away forever. You lose, Oscuro... I'm far from broken, and you're never going to get a chance like that again." Fenix Oscuro "You think this ends things between us? That you've finally won, and it all just stops? It only gets WORSE from here, Eri! Don't you forget that I've left you down and out once before... this win does mean something, but only that you're finally starting to catch up... that you're finally figuring out what it TAKES. You're pushing yourself just to bring me down... how long can you keep that up?" Kaelara Sentarl "After all this time... the struggles, the setbacks, the heartbreak, I'm finally at the top. I finally took the chance I've been after, and I'm finally the best in the division. I'm ready for anything as the new year begins... I'm ready for any challenge, anyone who wants to come my way. That's the way I've always intended to go through this... a champion should be there, fighting every single chance they get. And I'm never going to back down from anyone. Certainly not with this around my waist." The Black Dragon "Doctors don't tend to listen to me when I tell 'em I'm fine. How else do you think I kept going over in Blackrose? How else do you explain tonight? I'm not hurt, not one bit by this point... sure, maybe if this was a week or two earlier, there might've been some trouble, but I'm far from broken down, I'm far from ready to give up the World Championship, and I'm sure as HELL not gonna back off of defending this title... it's not gonna be the only one I've got, before long. 2019 is coming... and it's only a matter of time before I start up my collection again."

It's 2019. It's a brand new year, and Proving Ground is going to start things off, with the first show of the year this upcoming Monday, as always. No hesitation, no delay... we're right back to work.
Pre-Show: Kellaron Sentarl vs. Elly Blackwood
Pre-Show: Listalva Anne Heyward vs. Eternamente Verde
Pre-Show: Pajaro de Fuego vs. Todd Colton
Allison Avery vs. Fresh Suzuki
The Muscle Machines vs. The Sheridan Brothers
Ruthless Nicole Alger vs. Felice Santana
Kyle Anderson vs. Rey de la Carne
Candace Monroe vs. Veronika Armstrong
Rin Ryusaki vs. Layla Al-Amin
Silver Hawk vs. Victor Kintelas
Excellent Blades vs. Pure Gold for the Proving Ground Tag Team Championship
This week's pre-show kicks off with Kellaron Sentarl, currently flying solo with his tag partner now standing as Top Prospect, taking on Elly Blackwood: last time we saw Elly, she'd come out of an absolute war with Mallory Spaulding, but she'd come out of that brawl with a major victory. Kellaron, meanwhile, had his own big-time match on the pre-show against Silver Hawk, eventually bringing down the former Top Prospect. Both Kellaron and Elly missed out on New Year's Bash, but they're both looking to start 2019 in style with the first win of the year. Listalva Anne Heyward is, to put it lightly, not overly happy with the way things have gone lately. With the Heywards going down in defeat last episode to the Excellent Blades, and opportunities few and far between for the original Inspire Champion, Listalva seems intent on getting back on track against Evergreen's resident psychotic luchadora, Eternamente Verde. We'll soon see if she can find her way back to the top as the new year begins. Closing out the pre-show is a face we haven't seen since his supposed "debut" months ago. Pajaro de Fuego made a single appearance some time ago, then seemingly vanished from Proving Ground, and it wasn't entirely clear why: now we know, as it turned out the Lucha Phoenix had commitments to finish down in Mexico, commitments that he's now fulfilled... and now, he returns to Proving Ground to make a sort of re-debut against Todd Colton. Todd has certainly been looking forward to a fresh start... will 2019 treat him better than 2018 did? The main card kicks off with the hard-hitting Allison Avery, currently dwelling on a defeat in a 3-way match to the eventual Academy Champion, Leona Sterling. She'll be setting her sights on Fresh Suzuki, looking to bounce back and remind the world that there's not a woman on Proving Ground that can stand up to the power of her lariats. A very, very strong surprise here: the Sheridan Brothers are coming to Proving Ground. They'll have a tough fight ahead of them with the Muscle Machines, but they've been very impressive in their few Evergreen matches... still, the ruleset is much different in Phoenix Rising, can the new team make the adjustment between the two feds? While the Limbtakers were disappointed at New Year's Bash, they'll be looking to bounce back this week in a pair of singles matches: first, Nicole Alger takes on fellow Office wrestler Felice Santana, a crossover match that's sure to impress. It'll be a clash of styles with RNA's groundwork and submission prowess against Felice's relentless, high-flying offense. Kyle Anderson is... to put it lightly, in a foul mood. Lashing out after his defeat at New Year's Bash, he's set out to prove that without Victor being present, he could've beaten Rey de la Carne one-on-one... and had a fair bit to say about it, too. Candace Monroe and Veronika Armstrong have one thing in common from last week's show: both came away in defeat in challenging for a Proving Ground championship. Veronika was blown out by Layla Al-Amin in pursuit of the Inspire Championship... but the Evergreen Champion isn't going to let up, still intent on claiming that prize. Still, she'll have to get through a motivated Candace this week, and try to avoid the Australian tearing her leg off. Layla Al-Amin has perhaps never looked stronger than she did at New Year's Bash against Veronika Armstrong. She was a wrecking ball, never letting up for a second... and so, she'll take on Rin Ryusaki, who works much the same style as the Egyptian. Rin is a former Inspire Champion in her own right... before losing the title to Cassie Rose, she seemed to be on track for quite a reign. Rin could be looking to get back to the top... and become the first two-time Inspire Champion ever. Victor Kintelas has found his old attitude again in winning the Top Prospect Championship... and he's got his sights set on the man that Rey de la Carne beat to win the title in the first place. Can Silver Hawk start his path back towards the top this week, and take down Victor? The Excellent Blades are clearly the next in line to take a shot at the tag team champions... and Pure Gold aren't exactly hesitant to put the titles on the line, either. In a surprise move, the champions have elected to defend their titles just one week after their defense against the Limbtakers! Could Nicole Blade and Donna Nobel bring a record-breaking run to an end just one week after Pure Gold cemented their place in Phoenix Rising history? Kyle Anderson "A match that should've been mine, and mine alone... and then along comes the golden boy, the heir apparent, Mr. Kintelas Junior himself to screw the whole thing. Wins his way into the match that I'd earn that same night, swaggers his way out there, screws me over and becomes Top Prospect... I bust my ass for all this time to get the opportunity to stand at the top, to be nothing short of Proving Ground's BEST... but Victor gets to run with the champ on a whim, and suddenly he's got it all. Why don't you enjoy it while you can, Victor... enjoy being the guy on top, enjoy holding a title for once, because the moment I get my shot at you again, it's over. I won't be denied again." Victor Kintelas "I hear the sound of someone who couldn't measure up. The complaints of a man who was given a chance to step up and prove he was a champion, and instead, stumbled, faltered, and left the cleanup to me. Kyle Anderson has spent this past year on a roller coaster, a string of success followed by even more failure. And you've got the audacity to blame ME for the fact that once you got out there, you couldn't get it done? There's a word for that, Kyle: choking. Every time you get up there on the big stage, every time you have a shot at finally making a name for yourself, you blow it... but you know something? I have a deal for you, even despite all of that. You beat Rey de la Carne this week... you do what you say you're capable of one-on-one, and I'll give you the one-on-one chance you clearly think you deserve. But I'm absolutely expecting you to blow it again, Kyle. I'll be watching, and waiting, to see if you can prove me wrong." The Sheridan Brothers "Surprised to see us on a Phoenix Rising card again?" Vincent Sheridan smirks, kicked back in what appears to be quite the nice place... likely their home in Anaheim. "New Year's Bash wasn't a one-shot for the two of us... seeing as Evergreen's been coming and going, we're gonna come along and see if we can't step up and dominate the tag division in two different feds at the same time."
"Fact is, last week was the single biggest show we've ever taken part in. Good as we are, all the talent in the world, a better team than anyone's ever gonna see, that's the biggest damn crowd we've ever been in front of... by a mile." Zack shrugs, looking more serious than his laid-back older brother. "Who wouldn't want to make that a regular gig? We signed the contract right after our match with Eddy and Sookie, didn't hesitate one bit, and now we've got our first matchup already set. You tell 'em what we think of the Muscle Machines."
"Muscle Machines? Roided-up jackass that is Gary Gear, and his partner in crime, just as much of a meathead, thinks he's god's gift to the world 'cause he's trained himself the right way. I got news for the both of you... you're getting a taste of what the Sheridan Brothers bring, and you're not gonna like what you get out of it. I'm the premiere flyer in Evergreen, I don't hesitate to go extreme, and I'm gonna make both of you regret coming to the arena..."
"And as for me... doesn't matter how big, how bad, how toned you think you are. I'm the man that reminds Evergreen that a ring technician can dismantle anyone, anytime, anywhere... but hey, all else fails, one crack with a light tube, a chair, a bat, doesn't matter, and you drop the same as anything... fact is, Gear, 'Adonis', you're gonna find out why we're the hottest thing in tag team wrestling in YEARS."

So, there's a strong possibility I reschedule this show for either the day before, or the day after. Not sure which yet. Something's coming up this Monday that I'd rather not miss, and it's possible I'll be at it a bit late. At the moment, though, I'm gonna play it by ear, and decide what I want to do as the day gets a little bit closer. In addition, next Thursday (that'll be the 10th) Evergreen episode 3 will be happening, with the following card: Laenara Kintelas vs. Payaso Terrible (Blackrose Wrestling guest appearance)
Kantar vs. Julian Shepard (debut)
The Sheridan Brothers vs. El Evergringo and Eternamente Verde
Penelope Lea vs. Ash Defiant
Veronika Armstrong vs. Babe Ruthless
Rebecca Andrews and Sayaka Saito (Sayaka's debut) vs. Mercy Devine and Kevin Royce
