Muscle Machines Adonis Avery Alexander: So Phoenix Rising wants us to face those two brothers from their little garbage fed they partner with.
Gary Gear: Pair of skinny little twerps!
AAA: Don’t get me wrong, the Sheridans shouldn’t be underestimated. They might not look like much, but they supposedly put on some good fights. They have to be tough to wrestle in Evergreen, for how little they pay for what they have their people do. You don’t wrestle there unless you really want it.
Gear: But we’re bigger, and we’re better! And hey, this time around, if we put one of them down, we win the match! They ain’t changin’ the rules on us over here!
AAA: Ugh…stupid last minute rule changes. Stupid elimination tag matches. Nobody even told us about that! Look, we beat Rekless Endangerment, fair and square as far as I care. We showed them what superior strength and massive muscle can do against the genetically inferior manlets of the wrestling world. It’s not our fault that they kept on going after we won! So Sheridans, look at what we did as long as we were wrestling the match we thought we were wrestling! That’s what we can do to you!
Gear: We’re doin’ this the Muscle Machines way, we’ll run you down and break you in two! And then there’ll be four pieces of you in the ring! Fear Gary Gear! Hahaha!
Felice Felice Santana: I’m here to wrestle against anyone they want to put me up against and if they put me up against Ruthless Nicole, then that’s a great match and an even greater challenge because I know Nicole can wrestle really good, and maybe I need to get a little better at the wrestling part of wrestling, I mean, this really is professional wrestling, like, you know? But I just get so excited every time I go out there, because I know I’m making the fans happy and I’m representing my wonderful family and I’m living up to my dreams out there, even when I lose, I’m still doing something I love, so I can’t wait! But I like winning a lot more than losing!
RNA Ruthless Nicole Alger: Felice, I almost feel sorry for you. You’re a nice girl. I get along with you. I almost hate what I’m going to do next week. But I’m called Ruthless Nicole Alger for a reason. When I see a chance for the Ruthless Armripper, I don’t pass it up. When I can land a Dangerous Kick, I connect. And when I do those things, I hurt people. Felice, you’re too nice for this sport. You have too much fun, fly around too much. I’m going to ground you, and it’s not going to be sunshine and giggles. So, if you still want it, come enter my world. Meet me at the mat. You want a lesson, I’ll teach it. Come get some.

Barring anything weird happening, the show should happen tonight around 7PM Pacific. If something DOES come up, I'll be sure to let everyone know ASAP. But I fully intend to run this tonight, even if it ends up being late.

I am a river of salt and you'll see why below, but in all seriousness this was a good show to kick off 2019. ANYWAY. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/361129496Youtube: youtu.be/WHF4ZWsWHlQQuick Results Elly Blackwood def. Kellaron Sentarl Listalva Anne Heyward def. Eternamente Verde Pajaro de Fuego def. Todd Colton Fresh Suzuki def. Allison Avery The Sheridan Brothers def. The Muscle Machines Felice Santana def. Ruthless Nicole Alger Rey de la Carne def. Kyle Anderson Veronika Armstrong def. Candace Monroe Layla Al-Amin def. Rin Ryusaki Victor Kintelas def. Silver Hawk (CRIT, Silver Hawk to miss one month with a minor concussion) Pure Gold def. The Excellent Blades Write-ups A hot start to the night, and the year, as Elly Blackwood came roaring out of the gate, destroying Kellaron's arms and outpacing the young star's own submission work, before putting him away with a Tigerdriver. Elly looks as strong and dangerous as she ever has. A surprisingly tame affair from Verde, who never really seemed to bring her usual strategy to bear. Perhaps she should've, since Listalva ran right through her, delivering most of her usual signature spots, and finished the job with a diving Frankensteiner. Pajaro de Fuego's return to the U.S. was a successful one, taking down Todd Colton without breaking a sweat. Fuego should be sticking around now, so expect to see more of him in future Proving Ground shows. Fresh set the tone for the night: this was a night of high-flying action, with no room for anything else. The young Japanese flyer simply wiped Allison Avery out, landing a big-time Swanton and picking up the win. A hard-fought match, but the Sheridans, despite the different environment, come out ahead once again. Tornado rules or not, it seems Vincent and Zack are for real, outplaying the Muscle Machines here, and putting the entire tag division on notice: they're bound to be in line to take on Pure Gold at some point. Felice Santana is starting to look like the young woman that nearly captured the Inspire Championship when it was first introduced. Once again, it was relentless high-flying action that won the day, plowing straight through RNA without any hesitation. One has to think she'll be in line to face Layla Al-Amin before too long... with gold on the line. Kyle Anderson needed to win this if he wanted to prove he deserved a shot at Victor Kintelas, one-on-one. Instead, all he got for his efforts was a classic Rey de la Carne finish... a disaster, one that Kyle is going to have to think about if he ever wants to recover and get another chance at becoming the Top Prospect. Candace gave this match everything she had, and very nearly had it won with a Stunner... but Veronika proved slightly more resilient, and landed a crushing Spear that finally spelled the end for the Australian. A rough night for the Limbtakers, just one week after failing to capture the Proving Ground tag titles... some re-thinking may be in order. Layla Al-Amin continues to prove that her winning the Inspire Championship was no fluke. She dismantled Rin Ryusaki tonight, in much the same way she handled Veronika Armstrong last week at New Year's Bash, and cemented her position at the top of Proving Ground's women's division. With Felice Santana on the horizon, though, can the Egyptian keep up this momentum? This was not how anyone wanted things to go. Victor seemed to have a serious mean streak in this match, delivering high-impact moves almost from the beginning... a Kintelas Driver early, followed by his father's Shotgun finisher. But it was Victor's most dangerous weapon that put this one to rest in violent fashion: concussing Silver Hawk and taking him out of action for the next month with Patricide. It's hard to tell what's going through the Top Prospect's mind right now... was it deliberate? Or simply a freak accident? Nobody's entirely sure just yet... and Victor isn't talking. The first Proving Ground of the year closed on one of the most intense tag battles that's ever been seen in Phoenix Rising... both teams were on fire, aiming to destroy each other with every single move they threw out. Nicole Blade was caught on the apron by Mallory Spaulding late in the match, and a crushing half-nelson suplex sent her to the floor. All seemed well, though, as she bounced back to continue the match... at least until tagging out, and watching as Donna Nobel was pinned by Kanjirin's half-nelson bomb, seemingly unwilling to step in and make the save for a match they seemed on their way to potentially winning. However... there would appear to be a reason, after the fact, for Nicole's inaction. Nicole Blade There's some frustration in the redheaded powerhouse's eyes, and it's easy to see why: not only did the Blades lose the match, but she's being looked at by the medics, checking her eyes, scanning for any signs of damage. "Donna. I gotta apologize to you. I blew it out there. Fucked up the whole damn thing, a match we HAD. That suplex on the apron... I felt fine, at first, was ready to keep fighting, but the longer we went, the worse I felt. By the time you tagged in for the last time, I barely knew where I was. And I let you down. The strongest, most talented team in the world... couldn't take the titles, because I was too weak, too hurt, too... broken to keep it going. But I swear to you, and to everyone else out there... especially you, Mallory. This isn't the last time we're getting a shot at you, no matter what you try to tell us. I'm gonna make you pay. No one leaves me in a state like that and gets to just walk away."

Muscle Machines Gary Gear: Argh! Not again! Not this again!
Gear promptly rips the door off his open locker, and hurls it into the adjacent wall.
Adonis Avery Alexander: Generally, I'd admonish you for such neanderthal behavior, but you know what, screw it!
Alexander now rips the door off his own locker, and throws it into the wall.
Gear: This just pisses me off! We go to Japan! We're supposed to be badasses now! But we lose to a Power Ranger looking guy and his stupid brother! Damn it!
AAA: We should have won that match! We had it in the bag!
Gear: In the bag!
Silence hangs over the room for a few seconds as the Machines survey the damage they inflicted on the room.
AAA: You know, we're going to have to pay for this damage. Insult on top of injury.
Gear: I don't care! Next time we wreck people, not lockers! But lockers are here! So let's wreck lockers!
AAA: Whatever.
Felice (Warning: the following promo might be a bit overexcited. Don't say I didn't warn you.) Felice Santana: Ohmygosh, I just did what I didn't really think I was going to do, but you know, I went out there and I did it, I beat Nicole Alger, and I didn't just beat her, I flew around the ring like my family wanted me to do, like my poppa told me to do, I mean, my brother wanted me to wrestle on the mat more, but he wouldn't take time off to help me with training all that stuff, so I figured it was better if I just flew the way I always wanted to do and so I did that, and like, I know I did it really well, because I know that Nicole is such a strong, tough woman, and if she did what she usually does, I wouldn't have flown at all, haha, but I would have just been stuck on the mat, and maybe I even would have injured my arm, and it's not like I use my arm, like all that much for how I wrestle, but, really, it's my arm, so I don't want her ripping my arm off, of course, but that didn't happen so you know, I just won the match, and I'm like super excited because not only did I win my match, but now they're talking like I'm you know, the next person to get a title match here on Proving Ground against Layla, and like, I admire her so much because she flies like me, but she does it so gracefully, so I want to be a bit more like that, but I want to do it my way, you know, the Santana way, and even the, hehe, Felice Santana way, so when I get that title shot, I just want to do the very best I can do, even if I lose, it's the biggest match ever for me, so I can't wait, I just can't wait!
RNA Ruthless Nicole Alger: I'm not having a good time. Me and Candace lose our title match. We win a good fight on UCSS. Then I lose again here, and she loses too. I hate that. Felice is a great girl, but I let her wrestle her match, not mine. Can't deal with all that flippy stuff. Guess I have a lot of work to do to get to where I need to be. And when I get closer to that, maybe the Limbtakers can be the force we always should have been.

It's Evergreen night tonight, 7 PM Pacific as usual. Two debuts, a guest appearance by Payaso Terrible of Blackrose, and probably a fair bit of blood to go along with it all.

Evergreen's third episode started with a bang, and kept coming hard through the rest of the night, which flew by at a very brisk pace, as Evergreen tends to. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/362060424Youtube: youtu.be/oMCcDX9opgMQuick Results Laenara Kintelas KO Payaso Terrible Kantar def. Julian Shepard El Verde def. The Sheridan Brothers Penelope Lea def. Ash Defiant Veronika Armstrong def. Babe Ruthless Kevin Royce and Mercy Devine def. Sayaka Saito and Rebecca Andrews Write-ups The night started off in a violent way: a bloody Laenara Kintelas spilled to the outside in a brawl with Payaso, trading blows, weapon shots, until suddenly grabbing the Blackrose guest up and landing a crushing Kintelas Driver... and in a moment reminiscent of Tuesday night, much like her brother Victor, she left her opponent lying. Has the new year reminded the younger generation of the Kintelas family where they came from? An impressive debut for Julian Shepard despite a defeat at the hands of Kantar: it took no less than THREE Triple Powerbombs to get to that point, and Julian didn't hesitate to show that he could hang with the bigger man by delivering a Triple Powerbomb of his own. The Sheridan Brothers finally know defeat... who could've guessed it'd be at the hands of El Verde, a team that one half doesn't even want? Evergringo landed a big-time Mexican Cutter on Vincent, moments before Verde would hit her own on Zack, and while both wanted to be the one to score the final pinfall, Evergringo would get his first and pick up the win... but there can be no doubt here, El Verde won this match convincingly. A hard-hitting match that just kept escalating... but Penelope was the more stubborn of the two tonight, and reminded all in attendance that her nickname was earned for a reason, delivering two crushing kicks that sealed the victory for her. Veronika was in trouble for a lot of this match, and while she aimed to wear Babe down over time, she was running out of breathing room as Babe got more and more intense. Veronika finally pulled out all the stops, and she looked like a champion in the process, dealing out most of her signature offense in short order to snatch the victory and prepare for her showdown with Mercy Devine. It was pure chaos, like all Evergreen tag matches are, and it didn't take long for the teams to pair off: Rebecca faced off with Mercy in the ring, while Sayaka, in her debut, stood face-to-face with Kevin Royce. She'd later wish she hadn't. Kevin quickly got the upper hand despite a couple of weapon shots from Sayaka, and began to drive the debuting Japanese woman back, before catching her and landing his crushing chokeslam-into-powerbomb finisher... and Sayaka didn't get back up. It's not yet clear how severe Sayaka's injury is, but word will come ASAP. Kevin Royce "Retribution was coming, after what happened on our last show. Rebecca Andrews firing the shot that she did, starting this whole war again... you had to know that a counter-attack was coming. And I wasn't going to sit by and let you bring in yet another to your cause. And while you failed to take Mercy out for any real length of time, Sayaka... should not be coming back any time soon, after that bomb. Her debut match will also be her retirement, and you'll be back where you started... just the two of you. No more running away, no more hiding from the match that Mercy has earned. At Evergreen #4, it will be Veronika Armstrong vs. Mercy Devine, for the Evergreen Championship... and I will be the referee for that match, personally." El Evergringo (and Eternamente Verde) "You see! That's what we could do together! What we could be! I'm not asking you to consider anything else, I'm just trying to show you... as a team, what we could accomplish, especially if they decide that there's going to be a tag team championship!" To say El Evergringo is excited might be underselling it... and Verde simply looks as exasperated as someone wearing a full mask can look.
<Yes, we won, and showed the brothers that there was no way around it... we beat them, body, mind, soul. But you continue to annoy me, and will continue to annoy me, no matter what the outcome, win or lose! When will you see that for yourself?> Verde now stands... not quite face-to-face with him.
"I'm not... look. Give me one more show. One more match as a team. We do this one more time, and if I haven't changed your mind by then, I'll let it drop. But I know this can work. The people named the team for us. There's something to this!"
<One more. Then you drop this and leave me alone for good.> Verde reaches up, grabbing a handful of his mask to wrench him down to eye-level. "Just. One."
"You'll see, Verde. I promise." Verde lets him go (with a bit of a shove) and walks off, leaving Evergringo looking surprisingly focused.

A lot in store this week as Showdown approaches, and I can finally stop saying "FIRST OF 2019". There's a few developments coming with this show... so let's take a look at the card. Pre-Show: Blake Dynamite vs. El Evergringo
Pre-Show: Sophia Moretti vs. Besos
Pre-Show: Binak Tonorian vs. Urani Whitemist
Cassandra Marshall vs. Rachel White
The Rising Storm vs. Winifred Wright and Kileas Kintelas
Laenara Kintelas vs. Natasha Clover
The Phantom Thief vs. Lance Marshall
Eri Sentarl vs. Angel Leblanc
Kantar and Tasharun vs. Firehawk Sentarl and Rilantha De Nav
Alexandria Kirison vs. Kaelara Sentarl
Telan Kintelas vs. The Black Dragon
Blake Dynamite kicks off the new year hoping to bounce back from a rough patch. Ever since his promotion to Showdown it's been up and down for the hotshot, but against a guest appearance from El Evergringo, he should be able to put himself back on track and remind the world that he's still one of the best around. Sophia Moretti's 2018 was fraught with despair and betrayal... the latter of which she was on both sides of. The Italian has been badly damaged by a very, very rough year, and 2019 is a fresh start... with any luck, a match with Besos will be what Sophia needs to recover. Otherwise, she may be making a trip to the Blackwood Academy to re-align herself. A battle of giants closes out the pre-show, as Binak Tonorian faces the only person on the roster that's close to a match for his size, Urani Whitemist. It's hard to call where this one will go, but it's sure to be one hell of a war. "Cassandra Marshall"? Yes... the former Cassie Rose seems to have a statement to make as the new year rolls on, and she had quite a bit to say ahead of her first 2019 appearance... and Rachel White is firmly in her sights. The team that fell in their chase for the tag team championship, taking on the former champions in an effort to get back on top. Kileas and Winifred have made their team more official as of late, but against the Rising Storm, can they really look like the dominant team we've seen flashes of before? Laenara Kintelas is coming off of a stunning performance at Evergreen Wrestling... completely wiping out Blackrose's Payaso Terrible, the youngest member of the Kintelas family seems primed to make her way back to the top. She was the first Phoenix Rising Women's Champion, after all... but she'll be taking on the always-dangerous Natasha Clover, the Devil Hand herself. This won't be pretty. The Phantom Thief fell short in his challenge for the World Championship, getting taken out by the Black Dragon at New Year's Bash. But he won't back down now... setting his sights on Lance Marshall, he'll be aiming to regain his momentum and prepare for another shot at that top spot. Eri Sentarl came out of New Year's Bash a triumphant, conquering hero. Finally getting the win over Fenix Oscuro inside of a steel cage, she may have finally dispelled her doubts, and now prepares to take on Angel Leblanc, who has steadily become more and more of a threat. Perhaps the toughest team Firehawk and Rilantha have faced to this point, Kantar and Tasharun seem intent on destroying the undefeated tag team champions... nobody's been able to stop them yet, but the demons may have what it takes to finally topple the most dominant team Showdown's ever seen. Kaelara Sentarl is finally at the top of the mountain. Taking down Xiu Mei Li at New Year's Bash, the young woman is finally a champion, the Women's Champion that she sought all of 2018. But Alexandria Kirison is back on her feet... and she wants her title back. This will be the first test of Kaelara's young reign... can she prove herself a worthy champion on her first night? Telan Kintelas has slowly become more of a force on Showdown these past few months. He's ready to take on the champion, aiming to prove he's ready to take the next step... but the Black Dragon has been nothing short of a wrecking ball, even wiping out the Phantom Thief when it was thought she was still injured. As it turns out, though, the Dragon is at full strength... which could mean trouble for Telan. Conspicuously absent, as one might notice, is Fenix Oscuro... nobody's seen her since the aftermath of New Year's Bash, where she gave a veiled threat towards Eri. Since then, however, she hasn't been seen... Cassandra Marshall
"I was gonna save it for the show... but ya' might as well hear it now. Cassie Rose couldn't get the job done. Couldn't get anywhere. Always choked when it mattered. Always getting accused of shit that wasn't happenin'. I ain't puttin' up with it anymore. At this point I've heard it all. That I ain't good enough. That I don't deserve to be on the big show. And there's still the people out there insistin' there's somethin' between me and Lance! So what I've got t' say about that, anymore... ya' know damn well what the truth is. Ya' know there's nothin' there, but ya' can keep spouting off the same old shit, keep spreadin' the lies. But when I start leavin' people broken and beaten behind me, you'll know it's your fault for pushin' me this far. Your fault for drivin' me over the line. And Rachel's gonna be the first victim of what you've caused."

The mark of a good show is one that leaves me very satisfied by the end of it, and not feeling salty as fuck. :P Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/364216748Youtube: youtu.be/5nnxyI39KMsQuick Results Blake Dynamite def. El Evergringo Besos def. Sophia Moretti Binak Tonorian def. Urani Whitemist Cassandra Marshall def. Rachel White Kileas and Winifred def. The Rising Storm Laenara Kintelas def. Natasha Clover The Phantom Thief def. Lance Marshall Eri Sentarl def. Angel Leblanc Kantar and Tasharun def. Firehawk and Rilantha Kaelara Sentarl def. Alexandria Kirison The Black Dragon def. Telan Kintelas Write-ups El Evergringo's trip from Evergreen to Phoenix Rising ended in defeat, but he looked surprisingly solid against Blake here, leading some to believe he could be somewhat more legit if he really pushed himself... still, there's a lot of doubt he could actually do that. Too many mistakes from the Italian here, getting caught a number of times and escaping trouble... at least until she didn't. Sophia's year starts by continuing her frustrations from 2018: what's it going to take to get her back on track? Urani gave the giant of Phoenix Rising a run for his money, but eventually, the overwhelming offense would prove a bit too much, and Binak would take the win off of a massive chokeslam that seemed to shake the ring. A new year, and a new face for Cassie Rose... now Cassandra Marshall. A tough brawl that Rachel showed a lot of fire for, but Cassandra was just too much tonight, landing a sharp series of elbows that laid the redhead out. Probably the hardest-fought match of the night, the Rising Storm threw everything they had at the team that fell just short of the tag team championship at New Year's Bash. Winifred, however, would ultimately get tired of the struggle, and floored Xiu Mei before locking her in the Triangle Scorpion hold, forcing a near-instant submission. A vicious brawl that wouldn't have been out of place in Evergreen... Laenara continues to roll, following up her total destruction of Payaso Terrible at Evergreen #3 by taking out Natasha Clover here, though the Devil Hand didn't go quietly. The Phantom Thief continues to be an enigma. Unable to beat the Black Dragon, he came back this week with a vengeance and scores a huge upset victory over Lance Marshall, keeping himself firmly in the hunt for the World Championship... it could be just a matter of time before he gets another chance. Knowing that Angel would bring backup to this match, Shiana Sentarl accompanied Eri to the ring, intending to keep things more or less evened out. Elise Pichon would be the only person to get involved, though, distracting the referee at one point, but ultimately Eri's relentless offense proved too much, and a Romero Special forced a tapout from Angel, giving Eri another hard-fought win. Perhaps the champions should've stuck to their other attires. Aiming to not match with the demons, the undefeated streak winds up coming to an end, as Kantar and Tasharun overpowered the champs and showed absolutely no signs of letting up... it could be a dangerous road ahead for the tag team champions. When's the last time Alexandria Kirison looked this vulnerable? Kaelara Sentarl was a champion tonight, without a doubt, absolutely dominating the Greek without any hesitation, and once again she picks up the win with the famous Rainbow Bridge... is she trying to tell Hana Brightly something? Or is it just a tribute? Speaking of champions looking like champions, the Black Dragon was a wrecking ball here, and while Telan Kintelas gave what he could, there was no stopping the World Champion tonight. Dragon finished the job with a short-arm lariat, followed by her familiar facelock, and put this one to rest in a hurry. Cassandra Marshall "That's just the start, y'know. I know not a lot of people give a shit about Rachel. But ya' keep this goin', keep talkin' the way ya' have been, and the next one won't be someone that goes forgotten half the time. I'll start plowin' through everyone the people like, everyone the people cheer for, I'll set my sights on the Women's Championship, and y'know what? Ya' probably still won't let it go. I heard someone the other day wonderin' if I was gonna team up with Lance again and go for the tag titles... I ain't got any interest in that. Besides, look at tonight... who won? Who lost? I ain't draggin' myself down, and I ain't livin' in anyone's shadow anymore.
And y'know what? Anyone who has a -thing- for Lance? Fuckin' go for it. Not like I give a damn. Maybe it'd shut people up for once and make 'em finally open their damn eyes."

Fell asleep during the show last night, so I'm glad you have the results up. What I did see was entirely enjoyable, and that preshow lived up to expectations, so I'm rather annoyed at myself for having faded out.
Also, I think Cassandra is going to completely snap at some point, and it's going to be fascinating, and a bit fearsome to behold.

A couple of announcements to make: firstly, Proving Ground next week will go as scheduled. However, I spent some time today thinking about how this thing's been running for a literal year now. Can you believe that? I sure as hell can't. So, the 21st will remain as normal: Proving Ground episode 26. However, the 28th will see Showdown #26 bumped back a week so we can hold an anniversary show: which, right now I'm going tentatively with the theme of "Phoenix Rising vs. The World". Basically what I'm gonna be looking to do is assemble a handful of matches between Phoenix Rising stars, taking on edits from around the community from people that have supported the fed over the course of this past year. Hopefully with two weeks to prep for it, I should have plenty to work off of. I'll be looking particularly at a handful of names: Hana, Dawn, Senator, and with any luck, Geese, but of course that's far from an exhaustive list. Anyway, that's my plan for the next two weeks. Let's take a look at Proving Ground next week. Pre-Show: Kevin Royce vs. Kyle Anderson
Pre-Show: Eternamente Verde vs. Allison Avery
Pre-Show: Todd Colton vs. Kellaron Sentarl
Mascara Avispa vs. Avery Adonis Alexander
Gary Gear vs. Rey de la Carne
The Sheridan Brothers vs. The Limbtakers
Fresh Suzuki vs. Veronika Armstrong
Hugo Dirksen and Argent vs. Pajaro de Fuego and Silver Hawk
Felice Santana vs. Rin Ryusaki
Elly Blackwood vs. Victor Kintelas
Donna Nobel vs. Layla Al-Amin
The Heyward Sisters vs. Pure Gold for the Proving Ground Tag Team ChampionshipKevin Royce returns to Proving Ground after viciously injuring the debuting Sayaka Saito on the last Evergreen Wrestling show, but he'll be taking on one of the toughest opponents he's faced yet: Kyle Anderson is looking for redemption after a series of unfortunate losses, and Kevin is just the guy to take down to set him back on track. Eternamente Verde had a very successful night on Evergreen last week as well, and she'll aim to keep that momentum going as she returns to Proving Ground against the Arkansas lariat queen. Allison Avery has had a rough go of it lately, but things could change in a hurry with just one good solid lariat. Todd Colton went down in flames against Pajaro de Fuego last week, but he's looking to bounce back against Kellaron Sentarl, who fell short against Elly Blackwood on that same show after a hard-fought battle. Kellaron won't go quietly, though... looking to prove he's no weak link in his partnership with Victor Kintelas. Mascara Avispa returns to the Proving Ground ring, and he'll step in against the brash, arrogant Avery Adonis Alexander. Gary Gear is certain to be at ringside for this one... will Avispa bring backup? Will he need backup? The living junior legend is sure to bring his best against one half of the Muscle Machines, regardless. The Muscle Machines trade places immediately after, as Gary Gear steps into the ring... with Rey de la Carne. We don't know how Gear will deal with Rey's usual antics. This could be a horrible mistake. But by god it's probably going to be hilarious. The Sheridan Brothers won in their Proving Ground debut, but went down hard against El Verde last week on Evergreen. It's hard to tell what their future might hold: but against the Limbtakers? Vincent and Zack will have to watch out, because it could be only a matter of time before Candace and RNA turn up the heat and start a new hot streak. Fresh Suzuki steps up against perhaps her toughest opponent yet since joining Phoenix Rising: the Evergreen Champion, Veronika Armstrong. Veronika scored a major victory over Candace Monroe last week, but Fresh has looked incredible in her last few matches, most recently wiping the floor with Allison Avery: speed could very well out-perform power in this match. Pajaro de Fuego proves he's here to stay, and prepares to take on the Dutchman, Hugo Dirksen. Hugo seems more than ready for a new year of action, coming into Phoenix Rising very late in 2018... but 2019 could very well be the year that Hugo breaks out as a star.SURPRISE! Everyone expected Silver Hawk to be out of action... but he was cleared for competition this week, to the shock of everyone, and thus he'll be teaming up with Pajaro de Fuego against two members of Team Proving Ground: yes, that's right, Hugo Dirksen has joined up with the blue and white crew, bolstering the team back to four after the departure of Blake Dynamite to Showdown. Felice Santana has been a mainstay of Proving Ground for some time now, and this match is only going to make it clearer just how good she really is. She'll be taking on Rin Ryusaki, in what's almost guaranteed to be the most high-octane matchup of the night, possibly for the whole year: and it's only January! Don't expect either woman to slow down for a second. Elly Blackwood has quietly been one of the single biggest threats on Proving Ground since her debut. She lives up to her "Invincible" moniker more often than not, and won't hesitate to destroy her opponent's arms before ruining their night with a Tigerdriver. And now, her sights are set on the Top Prospect, just two weeks after Victor took Silver Hawk out of action with a Patricide that luckily didn't do any lasting damage. Elly could be lining herself up to finally break through and take her rightful place at the top of Proving Ground's roster... but what will Victor have to say about that? Donna Nobel has been left without her tag team partner for the time being. With Nicole Blade badly concussed after their title match with Pure Gold last week, Donna will have to go it alone for at least a couple of shows... but she'll make the most of her time alone, setting her sights on the Inspire Champion, Layla Al-Amin. However, Layla's run as champion thus far has been a truly dominant one: the Egyptian has been an absolute dynamo that nobody's been able to even remotely slow down, much less beat... does Donna have what it takes? The Heyward Sisters have quietly been a force of nature on Proving Ground. With Anari as a dangerous powerhouse lurking beneath her friendly exterior, and Listalva's killer instinct (not to mention her mind games), the two haven't often been a regular team... but that seems to be changing now, as the two are apparently on the same page, and are Pure Gold's hand-picked challengers for their next defense. This could be the end of an era, if the Heywards have their way... but Mallory and Kanjirin have been the most dominant champions in Phoenix Rising's history. The Heyward Sisters Listalva is alone on camera, though she wears a smirk. "Suppose we're not the most likely challengers, when it comes right down to it. But I know their thought process. Pure Gold ain't too eager to take on the big guns just yet: Team Proving Ground, or the supposed lovers... y'know, Sentarl and Kintelas. For what it's worth, they don't seem like the type t' me, I can't see 'em bein' into each other, but I ain't an expert on that. Not the point. Point is, Anari and I happened t' be next in line, somehow... and, well, ya' better believe we're gonna make the most of the chance. Anari, how's that gear workin' for you?"
"Should be fine... I'll get used to it. You can keep the short tights, though, um... I don't..."
"Nah, I get it. You're not built for showin' off." Listalva grins. "Anyway. Pure Gold. Mallory Spaulding, Kanjirin Tonorian... you're goin' down. We're gonna be the team that stops ya' in your tracks. That's a damn promise. Ya' nearly fell last week... it's just a matter of time, now, and we got the opportunity." Elly Blackwood "I should've guessed it before, Victor. Once a Kintelas, always a Kintelas... your whole family's always been a bunch of assholes, and you definitely inherited that, considering what you did to Silver Hawk. So let me remind you just how much danger you're in this week. You don't have a size advantage. You don't have a power advantage. You don't have any advantage at all, not against me. There's only one way this match goes: I rip your arm out of its socket, and then I come for the Top Prospect Championship. Simple as that. Because you don't have any hope of beating me... I'm -Invincible-, and you're just... a dick." Victor Kintelas "It's pretty damn rich, people coming out of the woodwork to call me an asshole after I laid Silver Hawk out last week. As though I did it on purpose, like some other jackass I know. I'm not Kevin Fucking Royce, people... if I wanted Silver Hawk out of the picture, I wouldn't have just concussed him, I'd have done a whole hell of a lot worse. Consider it LUCKY that it wasn't. Elly wants to come out and tell me she's invincible, that I can't touch her, that she's gonna break my arm, or rip it off, or whatever the hell she wants to claim, but fact is, you've never been able to get it done when it counted... and I'm gonna remind everyone that you're just not championship material."
The Limbtakers Ruthless Nicole Alger: We can’t get any momentum.
Candace Monroe: It’s irritating, isn’t it.
RNA: We got a chance now. Sheridans are tough. Related to Dynamite. But they lost to the Evergringo. So they can’t be too tough.
Candace: But if we look past these two, they could easily get the best of us. We’re not ready yet to have that sort of arrogance.
RNA: Yeah.
Candace: We still seem to lose as much as we win. But every one of those wins we get makes me feel like we can inch that much closer to being where we want to be. It’s like we’re right on the verge, but we always slip right when it really matters.
RNA: Fall down, get up, try again. That’s it. Takes us longer than some. But we’re still here. We’re still trying.
Candace: And that’s all I need to keep this going. I really was gonna have Silver Hawk sit, but there were just too many people left unbooked to do it. So despite Victor being a dick (and dammit, he sure as hell is), Silver Hawk is back on his feet and ready to roll again... and with a brand new tag partner to boot!

Muscle Machines Adonis Avery Alexander: After our last few matches tagging together, it feels like a real breath of fresh air to get a one on one opportunity. Although the pressure should be more, as I am responsible only for myself, it actually dissipates, knowing I do not need to concern myself with carrying your bloated carcass.
Gary Gear: Hah! Only reason you lack pressure is because you’re up against a tiny twig man!
AAA: I will have you know that Mascara Avispa, though he is not living the builder life, is an upper echelon competitor. And a junior heavyweight legend. He is a worthy foe, even for a natural super athlete as myself. For you, however, your opponent is best known for…smiling too much? Are you going to tap out when he sits on your face?
Gear: Rey de la Carne is real, man! He lifts! He builds! He wins matches against everyone! He’s totally legit! He’s also twice the size of your opponent!
AAA: Whatever.
Felice Felice Santana: This is a great match! I was so super excited when people told me I might get a match with Layla Al-Amin! A title match! For me! But she’s so good that I don’t know what I’m going to do when I get that match! So when they gave me this match with Rin, I feel like this, like makes me a bunch more ready for a match with Layla, because Rin is fast and quick like her, and I need matches like this! But, I mean, it’s not that I’m saying I’m better than Rin, or she’s only here to help me get better, because I hope she’s excited for this and for her chance to get better too, because isn’t that why we’re all here on Proving Ground?

An Invitation: (The Indomitable Wrestling Institute, downtown Jersey City, NJ.
Among the people that fill up the enormous gym, hopefuls from across many disciplines of martial arts training, a certain group have been gathered, seemingly summoned, to the center of the gym.
There, NorthStarLion and Johnnie Weatherford, the founders and operators of the gym have addressed them.)
JW: (Grins) We've got mail! NSL: We've received an invite from Phoenix Rising out in the Pacific Northwest. The promotion is closing in on the 1-year anniversary of its modern era, and we've been cordially invited. (Holds an envelope with the Phoenix Rising logo)
(The group receives the news with excitement)
NSL: This is an honor and privilege to receive this type of invitation, and Mr. Weatherford and I will choose who'll be the best suited to head west. Some of you have already participated in last year's 49th Parallel tournament or the Queen of Roses, but that doesn't guarantee a spot here. JW: NSL and I see a lot out of everyone here!
Jeremiah McCoy: Hol' up, hol' up, hol' up! Y'mean, the Central Bracket winnin', Final Four makin' creator of the Run n' Gun isn't a lock to go west? C'mon! Benji Hatfield: Nope. And y'know what? That ain't such a bad thing. Misty Pereira: Vai vai vai! Phoenix Rising might just need someone with a bit more magic, ze! Jahlani Baldey: Or someone with a tough, yet refined taste, hm? Utako Matsumura: (Licking lips) I...want to...hug...one of Phoenix Rising's big men. (Japanese) <I'll...protect them.> Mascara Ano 2017: Oi, what's all this, then. If you want someone who's proper fit for the graps outta this lot, I'm it. Let's get this settled. Mascara Ano 2018: CmoncmoncmonCMON. Pickmepickme! I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready. ALLIWANTISACHANCE!
JW: Everyone's excited, aren't they NSL? NSL: Indeed. This is one of those good problems to have, huh? (Johnnie grins and nods)
MA17: Right, then, make it me and Mascara Ano 2018. MA18: (Nodding uncontrollably) Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeah! Same ENERGY. JM: Nah, make it the McCoy/Hatfield dream team! BH: Y'mean the Hatfield/McCoy combination. JM: Y'know what I meant. Either way, we're a better fit! MP: Aii, uh, me an' Utako, ze! UM: <I want to fight the biggest, manliest team there.> Let's go, Misty-chan!
NSL: I'm afraid they'll be only one person heading there to compete. Phoenix Rising requested for only one wrestler. JW: And, we've made our choice. Trust us when I say this was tough, hehe. NSL: We've chosen...
(The group waits on bated breath)
JW: Mascara Ano 2018. This is your chance to show them what you're capable of, kid!
MA18: BIIIIIIIIGGGGG OOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. ITBELIKEDATSOMETIMESTHO. Karate kicks, INSIGURYS!!!
NSL: You think he's taking this well, Mr. Weatherford? JW: I think so, hehe.
(The others within the group congratulate Mascara Ano 2018 and gives him well-wishes)

Tonight's the night for Proving Ground as usual. 7:30 Pacific start time, and then we can look ahead to the next two shows: that being the Blackwood Academy show on Saturday (which I'll be posting a card for in the Academy thread sometime probably on Thursday to give that last opportunity for people to submit their rookies for it), and then the big one-year anniversary show next week, which I'll have a card for ASAP (I have one more match to set up for it and then we'll be all ready to roll for that.)
But for the time being, all eyes are on Proving Ground to see whether the Heyward Sisters can be the team to topple the most dominant champions in Proving Ground's year-long history.

Solid show tonight, a lot of future plans ready to roll. Things are definitely heating up for Proving Ground now, and the title picture continues to take shape in all three divisions... Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/367900345Youtube: youtu.be/urPH2qp6ipQQuick Results Kevin Royce def. Kyle Anderson Allison Avery def. Eternamente Verde Kellaron Sentarl def. Todd Colton Mascara Avispa def. Avery Adonis Alexander Rey de la Carne def. Gary Gear The Limbtakers def. the Sheridan Brothers Fresh Suzuki def. Veronika Armstrong The Avian Assassins (Pajaro de Fuego and Silver Hawk) def. Team Proving Ground (Argent and Hugo Dirksen) Rin Ryusaki def. Felice Santana Elly Blackwood def. Victor Kintelas Layla Al-Amin def. Donna Nobel Pure Gold def. the Heyward Sisters to retain the Proving Ground Tag Team Championship Write-ups Kevin Royce continues to show that despite his veteran status, he hasn't slowed down yet, taking down Kyle Anderson in an impressive matchup to start off the night. Kyle put on a solid showing here, but Royce was just a bit too much this time around. Verde was out for blood tonight, and she sure as hell got it... using her fork to bust Allison open late in the match. And then, it all fell apart, with Allison almost immediately dumping the extreme luchadora on her head and scoring the win. Clearly, the Arkansas redhead was in no mood for Verde's brand of violence. Kellaron was strong out of the gate, and didn't hesitate to take the fight straight to Todd. Todd couldn't get anything rolling for long, and Kellaron finished off the match with a thunderous spear, picking up an emphatic victory. Mascara Avispa once again proves that he's one of the best in the business, tearing through AAA without running into much trouble. Avispa continues to impress, and likely could be in line to take another shot at the Top Prospect title in the near future. The Muscle Machines traded places, but the result was the same... Rey de la Carne did as he tends to do, tormenting Gary Gear for a bit before landing a big elbow drop for the win. The Machines had a rough night, that much is clear... A very impressive match between these two teams, with RNA picking up the win after a series of crushing kicks to Zack Sheridan... but this was overshadowed by what happened after the bell. Vincent landed a superkick on Candace just as the 3-count came down, and, seemingly out of frustration, followed it up with a running dropkick to the young Australian. Candace was seen after the match backstage positively livid, and had quite a bit to say on the subject... Veronika's run on Proving Ground continues to be a rough one, as Fresh Suzuki came out determined not to give in for a second. A champion in Evergreen, but not yet able to string together success in Phoenix Rising... Veronika may need to figure out some way to get back to her winning ways. For a team that only just formed (and were named during their debut match!) the Avian Assassins looked like they'd been together for ages. Pajaro de Fuego and Silver Hawk looked fantastic in victory here, and Team Proving Ground nevertheless managed to hold their own for quite some time. A clash between two of the best high-flyers on Proving Ground, but it was Rin's veteran instinct that won the day, countering Felice into a quick roll-up to score the win. Still, Felice impresses as always, continuing to get better with every passing week. No doubt about it, Elly Blackwood lived up to her "Invincible" name this week, taking everything that Victor had in his arsenal, and just kept getting back up. She zeroed in on Victor's arms, and locked in a cross armbreaker to finish things off, earning herself a shot at the Top Prospect on the next Proving Ground, without a doubt. Donna Nobel did what she could, trying to lock up Layla's arms and keep her grounded. But the Cairo Cyclone would not be denied tonight, the Inspire Champion coming right back at Donna every time, and came away with yet another impressive victory. A far cry from their last defense, Pure Gold barely seemed to break a sweat this week in dispatching the Heyward sisters, despite them finally being on the same page. Kanjirin wiped Anari out with a huge running spinebuster, and the Proving Ground tag titles stay on the champions for another few weeks. Candace Monroe "The hell you think you're trying to pull, Vincent? Can't accept that the Limbtakers beat your asses, so you take a cheap shot on me after the bell? Yeah, the superkick hit before your brother was finished, but that dropkick was damn well uncalled for... and I'm gonna make sure you regret taking it. I know Phoenix Rising isn't eager to mix the divisions, but you mark my words, Vincent, I'm getting a match with you, one-on-one, so I can pull your damn leg off and make you regret being such a sore loser!" Layla Al-Amin "I don't let this success go to my head. But one thing is now very clear, I have been at the top of the division here as Inspire Champion for some time... and I am waiting for the challenger that can push me further and further every week. I hear that it is Fresh Suzuki who's next in line, and I fully intend to put the Inspire Championship on the line against her on the next Proving Ground... so I am prepared for you to bring everything you've got, because I will do the same." Pure Gold "After last time... I'm almost disappointed." Mallory Spaulding has a confident, smug look on her face this week... a far cry from the usual annoyed, angry look she wears. "The Blades might have been the only worthy challengers we've ever had. You two? Couldn't get anything on us. You're not ready for tag team gold... so stay out of our way, and let the real challengers take their shot."
"The way I see it..." Kanjirin shrugs. "Well, there's a few options for the next in line. The Limbtakers aren't quite at the back of the line anymore... that'd be the Blades and the Heywards, now. But you're not ready for a rematch. Not yet. Victor and Kellaron? You two can quit thinking about ever getting another shot until you're the last ones left... you're not stepping into the ring with us again until that time. Winter Fresh... sorry to say, kids, but I'm not in the business of breaking people half my size, and besides... Suzuki's got other stuff to worry about.
No, what I think we need to do... is look at the other team that won their match tonight. A new one that we've got no experience with. A team that only just got together tonight. Hell, the fans already named you guys... and that tells me everything I want to know. The Avian Assassins... you're in. You got the next shot against us. So don't blow it like the Heywards just did..."
