Count me as one of the people that LOVED RD1 online, and hated GTA Online. And yet, because I already have PS+, I"ll probably check it out at some point because like Wondy said- making a cowboy version of yourself in this game is too tempting. But I won't pay actual money, and I really wont want to interact with real people, so we'll see how much enjoyment I get out of it. I'll probably hold off till I'm done with single player, which could be a while.
In other news, I have to say that weather patterns might be one of my favorite parts about this game. The fact that I can be wandering the countryside on a clear day, see clouds roll in and know I better get a jacket on cause we're about to get dumped on- its just so cool to me. Maybe that's weird, but I honestly get a kick every time it happens.

Maybe that's weird, but I honestly get a kick every time it happens. I just played a little bit more now that they've "fixed" the economy. I, uh... Yeah, it's not really fixed at all. You still rob someone for like thirty cents, sell pelts for next to nothing, etc. A new hairstyle is like $10, mind you after playing all night last weekend I had $72. Clothing being locked by levels is ridiculous, a Mauser went from $1,000 to $600... Thanks, I guess? Griefing/getting griefed is profoundly not fun or interesting. I don't understand why game developers think that this is fun. Like yeah, RDR1's online had that shit, but it actually felt like the game itself was fun. This is just waiting for the other shoe to drop when they introduce paid in-game currency to make some of this stuff attainable. Even the promised few gold bars and few hundred bucks probably won't get me to play this. ... and I found the single player game to be astoundingly good and actually helped to make one of the most immersive worlds in any game, ever.

I hate myself for paying $60 for the privilege of being able to play online for one year, solely because I like seeing cowboy me in the game (though not even a cowboy really atm). I don't even like mulitplayer games. My narcissism knows no bounds. But I am happy when I ride. Worth it?

The "Win 3 straight games of Dominoes" Gambler's Challenge can fuck right off. That is all.

So.... I finally tried out online. I don't like it. There is definitely appeal in creating a cowboy version of yourself, but the in game creation options are extremely limited and I feel regardless of what you do the character looks like a blank faced mute compared to other people in the world. The online version of this world feels so much colder and less alive. The story is fine but nothing like the single player campaign (to be expected). The paywall for clothes and guns is dumb but not unexpected.
But the biggest issue I have is camps. My favorite part about Red Dead is wandering off on a multi day trek, living off the land, getting myself into trouble, and sleeping under the stars. Except in online there is no personal camp. You have to move your entire "base camp", for a fee, if you want to craft or cook items. Also, there is a maintenance cost of $1 per day for your base camp. So the game makes everything super expensive to buy, super cheap to sell, and slowly siphons off the money you do earn for no reason.
After a couple hours I returned to the single player game, road off with Arthur into the Grizzlies, and spent twice as long following huge footprints that I really hope means Yeti's are hidden somewhere in these mountains...

Some updates as I've had more time over the past week to really dig into this ๐ฎ 1) In certain hats, Arthur looks a bit like Walter White from Breaking Bad ๐ฉ 2) I finally got to Strawberry and it rivals Van Horn Trading Post as my favorite town in the game. 3) I finally got to Blackwater and: OH THE NOSTALGIA!! ๐ญ
Back in West Elizabeth, baby! Only I got a much frostier welcome this time!
So I freed Micah in Strawberry but it was NOTHING compared to the heat from the law I got from freeing Sean from Blackwater! Wow, they were after me as soon as the mission was over and I was trying to pick the bones from the battle ground. Just as well, it was worth me not spending too much time there. That camp party was AWESOME! I loved the songs and the camaraderie. Easily my favorite moment of the game up to this point. The entire group dynamic of this game sets it apart from the first one and really allows it to shine on its own. And this party was a shining example of why. Uncle was especially hilarious with his songs.
๐ผAin't no party like a Horseshoe Overlook party cause a Horseshoe Overlook party don't stop.
No really, everyone just passed out ๐คฃ Love this game ๐

so level 39 in the only, i don't doubt then later down the road the online will be pretty great but it's so barren and life this atm, with not enough activities or missions to keep your attention, nad most of the pvp showdowns and maps suck, but I keep going back to it, enjoying the hunting and creating outfits for my character. but I really hope they start added more content to the online soon, would especially be nice to have the rapper with how much hunting I do

So... its been a while. I hadnt touched the game since christmas for a variety of reasons and decided today to fire the game up and be a cowboy again. Literally 2 minutes in a bear charges up out of the woods, knocks me off my horse and starts to maul me. In an epic struggle I manage to kill the beast WITH MY MOTHERFUCKING KNIFE. It was maybe 10 seconds but I was shaking by the end, what an event. Red Dead is awesome.
5 minutes later out of nowhere a cougar jumped me, killed my horse then killed me. Fuck this game...

Same here. I had to go a few weeks without playing but then fired it up Monday night and had an awesome time. I wasn't carrying any pic-a-nic baskets so I was safe from bears but a snake spooked my horse and caused both of us to do like a 450 flip onto the ground face-first. Worse yet: I did the "Night Folk" mission and those things are seriously creepy. Like RDR1 Undead Nightmare creepy and they swarm just as quickly. What was funny is that I visited the cabin from the mission about 30 minutes before I did the mission and got a REALLY weird vibe from it, without having any idea I'd be visiting it later under those circumstances. Like got that "ominous foreboding" feeling like something bad happened there.
I'm STILL somehow in Chapter 2 and know I have about 2-3 more missions on the map that I can see. Hopefully I can manage to get to Chapter 3 by like, uh, March, LOL.

I'm about 3/4 through the Wargroove campaign. It's completely pulled me away from the Resident Evil series playthrough I had planned to do on my vacation. I did also pick up the last DLC pack for Darkest Dungeon on the PS4 and found it included the kickstarter exclusive Musketeer class which was a pleasant surprise. Also, all the DLC's for Resident Evil 7 were on sale so I picked those up as well as the Spiderman DLC.

What does this have to do with Red Dead lulz LOL, I actually completely forgot to even mention my Red Dead Redemption progress. I'm still in Chapter 2, it's the dreaded wander away from the storyline and always finding something else to do syndrome. I thought about dabbling in the online portion, but a guy I talk to at work says there still isn't really much to do aside from level your character up.

I finally finished Chapter 2 โ Man, it's almost a Rockstar joke about RDR 1 that we had to finish that chapter with a herding mission with John. Especially since Arthur said something like "maybe one day you'll get your own farm" or something like that. It was kind of funny. I wasn't expecting the Chapter to finish in Valentine the way it did but I liked it. Also really liked the mission finding new campground with Charles who has stood out as one of my favorite of the Van Der Linde gang.
Going fishing with Dutch and Hosea was one of my favorite parts of the game so far. I have an inkling of where the story is going based on how they are teasing dissenting views within the gang (especially with Hosea/Arthur vs. Dutch/Micah) and if they do go that way, it's going to mean more after getting these genuinely nice moments with Dutch and Arthur.
Now situated near Rhodes and not far from Saint Denis, it feels like a fresh start. We're not even that far from the old hideout but the story has already progressed so much by the end of the first mission of Chapter 3. That's pretty cool how they pulled that off. Looking forward to how things go from here.
