I don't recall specifically how many stranger missions are in chapter 2 (these are the ones indicated by the large white dots with the ? in the middle on the map, not the random events), but you should discover them all naturally as you progress thru Chapter 2. I recommend looking at the map and visiting every white dot before you do any story missions. Some story missions unlock new white dots, so make sure to re-check the map after you complete each story mission (the gold dots).
Edit: one other thing to be careful of, especially in Saint Denis. Be mindful of getting on your horse when there are NPCs nearby. More than once I spammed triangle to mount up quickly and ended up grabbing some poor civilian by the throat or spear tackling some lady because I was focused on them and not the horse, lol.

Thanks, I think I didn't realize how Stranger Missions were marked on the map. I get it now. I opened up a very interesting mission last night right before going to bed that I'm looking forward to jumping into later. I can't remember if it's story or stranger but it's: Arthur finds a letter at this area in camp from a woman who was from his past and is staying near Strawberry. Definitely implied she's a former love.
I finished the first 3 Collection missions too which were pretty fun. One dude almost got hit by a train as he was escaping from me. After I lasso't him next to the tracks and collected the money, I placed him on the tracks to make sure that he got what he wanted π

Within 10 minutes of loading the game, two hilarious things happened:
1) The Preacher at camp stumbled over to me drunk and singing. I was trying to get on my horse but the Preacher blocked me as he serenaded me. Then my horse took a shit right next to him at the end of the song.
2) I'm riding my horse on a road and a random stranger calls over. At that time, there's a horse carriage on the road going my way in front of me while someone on horseback is coming toward us. I go to the side of the road to meet the stranger and that causes the guy on horseback to swerve and smack right into the carriage, flying right over his horse. Both people flee and I got myself a free horse carriage π

I think Rockstar programmed it that way on purpose, because the number of times my horse took a shit with perfect comic timing was uncanny. :D

It was absolutely perfect timing π
I wonder if there is a connection between the rate we feed our horse, and what we feed them, and their rate of taking a shit. Would be pretty funny to load them up full of food before certain events and have the camera ready π΄π©π·

Finished the main story and the epilogues. What a game this was. Easily top 3 game I have ever played. The story was done incredibly well. That said, I have zero energy to start over. Itβs gonna be some time before I feel like stepping back into this world. Hopefully the online drops soon so I can keep getting my red dead fix. I had the same horse the entire game. She was a thoroughbred named Bourbon, and I completely lost my shit and cried like a little girl when she had to die in the final mission. Arthur trying to soothe her in her final moments and choking up as as he thanked her while she died will forever be one of the most impactful moments in gaming for me. Just brutal to go through.

I won't lie, like 90% of why I still pop on the forum at this point is to check this thread for RDR stories. I don't even own this game.

I was in St Denis earlier and saw some dude hanging out by an alley and had probably the best awkward discussion with an NPC I've ever had.
Arthur: Hey, mister.
Guy: Hey.
Arthur: How you doin?
Guy: I got a full belly and an empty dick, so it's going good.
Arthur: Well....good luck to you then.

This is why you don't have conversations with strange men in alleys, Deni

3 am. Was riding down out of Ambarino with a legendary bison pelt on my horse (a sweet Missouri Fox Trotter)....saw a three star raccoon. Managed to slow the horse in time, pull out the varmint rifle and get a clean headshot.
At the same moment I start the animation to skin the raccoon, my horse bolts. Wolves. Like 5 of the bastards. In my panic to finish skinning the raccoon in time to pull out my rifle, I accidentally draw my volcanic pistol. Oh well. The first wolf grabs my arm and I fill him with lead to buy myself a half second. Draw the rifle, headshot the other 4 wolves. Brilliant. I look over the corpses and there's one perfect pelt among them.
I start skinning the wolf and get jumped by a cougar.
DEAD.
lol, shoulda just left the raccoon alone.

Only in Red Dead That was an awesome story. Lesson learned - the game is swarming with critters and when 5 f'n wolves don't get the job done, one cougar will show them how it's done. P.S. What's the meaning of the "3-star" description of the Raccoon? Is that how you expected it to taste? π
So last night it finally happened. The blurring of the line between reality and Red Dead. I was playing for about 3 hours and felt a stronger sense of immersion due to understanding more of the game's controls and systems ( finally figured out how to save costumes!). I also took a lot of photos with the in game camera. Some really good shots like a double rainbow over the river near the Chapter 2 Hideout, the moon shrouded by clouds, and a few with my horse and I goofing around. It was fun stuff and I didn't get mauled while doing it so win/win! I spent a few hours doing Stranger missions, finally got dynamite for certain shenanigans in Valentine, and just had a great time being more comfortable with the commands. I started to do things as a second nature rather than needing a guide. Flash forward to tonight in real life. I saw the moon outside tonight...shrouded by some clouds. I wanted to take a picture but I did not reach for my cell phone. Instead, my fingers tried to open up the menu of a game I was not currently playing with a controller that was not remotely near my hand. Yet it felt like second nature. Yes, the lines have once again become blurred. I felt like I was playing Red Dead in real life. 2018 is like 2010, I am home again. Oh fruited plains, Red Dead is my main.

LOL I was driving home yesterday and saw a plump bird flying low. My first instinct was to pull out my non existent repeater. :P I used to get the same thing when I binged on Tony Hawk....I'd see stuff IRL and think "Oh, I bet I could grind that"
Geese, the star rating for animals indicates the quality of their pelt. When you get close to an animal, you get prompted to hold down R1 to "study" the animal. Once you've done that, when you point your gun at another one of the same species, the game shows you a little star rating in the corner. If you kill a 3 star animal with the right weapon you get a "perfect" pelt that can be used for crafting. Sounds like you need to spend more time hunting and less time dragging people thru the streets of Valentine with your lasso :P unless you already knew that and were just making a joke lol
Also, last night I finally got me a perfect panther pelt and got the Legend of the East satchel from Pearson. Being able to carry 99 of every in game item is phenomenal....*spends $300 on hair tonic*

LOL I was driving home yesterday and saw a plump bird flying low. My first instinct was to pull out my non existent repeater. :P I used to get the same thing when I binged on Tony Hawk....I'd see stuff IRL and think "Oh, I bet I could grind that" This happened to me with GTA 3, GTA: San Andreas, and RDR a lot and RDR 2 has even more potential for just complete immersion. Like a total annihilation of the lines, not just blurring π€ Geese, the star rating for animals indicates the quality of their pelt. Sounds like you need to spend more time hunting and less time dragging people thru the streets of Valentine with your lasso :P unless you already knew that and were just making a joke lol The reason I was dragging them through the streets of Valentine is because they refused to tell me about star ratings! If they had just spilled the beans, we wouldn't have needed that unpleasantness. π I actually got a lot more comfortable hunting last night. For some reason it wasn't really clicking before that. I'm more natural with the commands and animal reactions now, particularly with the "call" when I have the Bow and Arrow. I got some perfect pelts firing a bow from the horse too so I was happy about that. I didn't notice the stars but I wasn't really looking for them. The game gives a LOT of visual information which is good but can be a little overwhelming until you know the things to focus on. Can you use the Binoculars to check star ratings or are the binoculars just to see far in general? I've used the "study" command before but I don't seem to be able to do it through the binoculars. Also can't use the binoculars with the camera, but I didn't expect that was gonna be possible π It appears my photo limit is only 92. Is that the same for you guys? Also, last night I finally got me a perfect panther pelt and got the Legend of the East satchel from Pearson. Being able to carry 99 of every in game item is phenomenal....*spends $300 on hair tonic* Wow, nice! 99 is a huge step up from the capacity I have for most items - like 5, LOL. Do you prefer taking your pelts to Pearson or the Trapper? I've been using the Trapper but I don't know if there is a significant advantage either way. Also, a weird thing happened to me. I took a boat to some of the islands in the big body of water south-east of the Chapter 2 hideout. I saved the game on the island and then when I got out of the save menu, I was back on the mainland!! In a way I was glad cause I realized if I died at some point, loaded the game, and a boat didn't respawn, I would have been stuck on that island!! The water was too deep around it! I was literally going to be up shit's creek without a paddle! So that little glitch may have actually saved my file. After I realized what had happened and what could have happened, I started getting into the habit of having a second back-up save to make sure I'd never accidentally put myself in risk of that and have to restart the entire game.

Depending on what you want crafted, both Person and the Trapper should be used. The Trapper will make you custom clothes, Person will make you shit for the camp and/or upgraded satchels. I've been (very) slowly working through chapter 2 still, with the aim to move on to chapter 3. However there were a series of events that happened that...er...slowed my progress. No story spoilers but a few random events included that I'll stick inside a spoiler: I finally got around to robbing the medical store in Valentine, and was hunkered down in a hellova shootout trying to get out of town. Before I knew it I had a $200 bounty and had fled to the swamps. That was fine, I was content wandering around killing gators and exploring the southest region of the map. Making my way to St Denis to turn a perfect alligator skin into a cool new saddle, I came across the same house Wondy had noticed and commented on earlier. Same weird couple. Same weird booze. Except unlike Wondy, I'm always up for a little weird fun and decided to stick around for a few more drinks. At some point I passed out... only to come to in a hole filled with a pile of dead fucking bodies. Oh also the dirty fucks robbed me. Needless to say that couple won't be bothering anyone anymore.
In town I bought my saddle and figured it was time to get my ass back to camp and figure out how to move this story along. Except on the way out of town I stopped to check out a NPC conversation, not realizing i was bugging someone on the other side of me, who eventually became hostile, pulled me off my horse, and started wailing on me. I...reacted poorly, immediately shooting him. This set off a fresh new bounty that may have risen in value as I escaped out of town.
With nowhere else to go to avoid the law I headed for the mountains, where I've been quietly hunting and exploring, including finding a very "out of this world" map. I'm prepping to head back south and meet whatever consequences my actions warrent, and maybe even progress this story a bit haha. Double Spoiler for my reasons on dragging my feet that may or may not be a spoiler (at this point its just me guessing) Arthur seems to have picked up some kind of illness based on a couple missions and some evidence going forward. If this happens and he dies mid game like RD1 I'm gonna riot...
