Playing wrestling matches is uh, not particularly exciting. It works, but eh. In that area, World is outclassed by Giant Gram 2000, KOC, VPW2, and hell, even some of the other Fire Pro games. (i.e. Fire Pro G story mode, Fire Pro Wrestling on GBA's mode where you had to work towards specific styles and the ratings systems actually meant something) You heard that both of those are coming as DLC for World, right? Of course. The story mode's not in the game currently, however (and will not be as expansive as FPG's in some ways by nature, though it'll still be neat) and in fact, the second mode I am referring to is not coming to Fire Pro World as DLC, and will likely never considering it only existed to serve as the method to unlock characters, as well as the fact it'd require Spike to actually bother to do more with the ratings systems.

It depends for me. One day I may actually play, the other I would just rather relax and watch matches. I think it's just as good to play and sim. Simulation is more unpredictable though.

Reading through the previous replies, it seems my affinity to Fire Pro is unique as I almost never sim. 99.5% of the time, I play. I don't spend much time tinkering, but I download a lot of other user creations of real wrestlers and rings from all eras. I like the idea of setting up a full card, like a PPV, and playing it out as if i'm both, the booker, and the main worker of each match. I invent little storylines in my head, and even keep spreadsheets sometimes to track the story-arcs over numerous events and whatnot. For me, it's basically a grown-up version of playing with wrestling action figures, but coming up with long, evolving storylines and epic matches.

You're not the only one :) i almost everytime play, sometimes i just do random matches (expecially 1 vs 1), sometimes i create ppvs. Years ago, with fire pro returns, i've started an e-fed with a guy here on the old firepro wrestling arena (dont remember his name unfortunelly) and i simmed all the matches but only because i recorded with fraps all the matches then uploaded the highlights on youtube. It was pretty fun too.

I think the FIRE PROMOTER mode will be awesome for sim and players actually.
You can play to get the results you want and then the match ratings are on you. OR you can sim and your matches and shows will only be as good as your CPU Logic.
It can drive either kind of player.

As I said before, I'm 99.5% player and very rarely sim, but I'm REALLY looking forward to FirePromoter to make booking my little fantasy cards easier and more fun. I've grown sick of using spreadsheets alongside FPWW :P

I'm expecting to be let down by Fire Promoter. There's no history to the circuit at all, which really defeats the point. It's like a string of exhibition matches with a tiny bit of extra "game" thrown on top so it doesn't appear to be a string of exhibition matches.

I was looking forward to it.
I started on returns before it was in english, after hearing how fantastic the general fire pro simming could be. I got a load of saves put into it and simmed the heck out of it. Since it wasn't 'official' it was in black and white but it didn't stop me
I still haven't tried to play world, but that's due to my 14 year old controller not being recognised. I could try and play on keyboard, but .. PF someday I'll get a new controller and try it out.
I'm not against the idea of playing, but I love watching :D

I thought i was the only one having thoughts that Fire Promoter is going to be a let down. if they made Fire Promoter like a Civilization game. you pick the location/territory/state where you wanna start. you choose if you want to be a rival /friendly/ take promotions out of business / buy them out or take over the territory

Which is why I very well may continue using your card creation mod, even after Fire Promoter comes out.

That doesnt sound like a fair assessment to me. You are running a business and you have to run profitable shows to beat out other organizations. You have to ideally book smart shows for your territory while staying in line with your finances and slowly developing your company. On top of that you want to have your shows be good shows(hence the match ratings) and keep your roster healthy and happy.

They’ve been saying it’s basically a copy and paste of the FFPW version, right? That was really shallow; I’ve always been pretty surprised that people were as jazzed about it as they were. Sell lunch boxes, book the big arena, bring in other champions so you can take all the belts. Easy peasy.

I Play all the time the game play is actually much easier then it was in Returns. I've slimmed some but the sim matches go one too long i think.
