I don’t know if anyone here who has access to Disney plus is checking out the MCU What If series or not, but I don’t hate it! I really wasn’t interested, but for some reason I checked it out a couple of days ago, now I only have a few episodes left to watch. I really liked the Captain Carter episode (if only the captain America movies were nearly as entertaining…), and even as burnt out as I am on anything zombie, the zombie episode wasn’t entirely horrible (my least favourite of all of the ones I’ve seen so far though). Anyone else liking / watching these? What a nice surprise!

Anyone else liking / watching these? What a nice surprise! I'm hearing great things about it and the new animated Star Wars series. There's so many awesome things to watch these days, it's hard to even choose. Even though I loved watching Wandavision, I wasn't as enthused to watch the other Marvel shows since then. It's not really burn out since the stories/characters are different. I don't know. I guess there's only so many things to watch with dwindling free time. Still haven't watched Season 3 of Castlevania or try out He-Man yet. I've spent a lot of TV time actually watching AEW - it's weird to watch wrestling again LOL. But I'm enjoying it 👏 Wow, that's really cool! You gotta wear a Bak Fu mask and make it in a scene!! 🤜

Yeah, I had no intention to watch What If, I had a few minutes at the end of the day one day and thought “ I’ll give this a shot”. The alternate Captain Carter episode was first, if it had been one of the others (only child, Disney prince Thor, for example), that probably would have been it for me. As burnt out as I am on the marvel stuff (and not really a fan of the whole captain America and avengers thing in general), I still found lots to enjoy in this series. I just finished it off last night, if they don’t do a round two, I won’t miss it, but it might be interesting to see where they take it and if they’ll veer away from the movie universe a bit next time.

Won’t get to see it until after work, but am hearing positive things about the premier episode of Blade Runner Black Lotus. Also first episode of Dexter was fantastic.

I'm liking it so far. The art style has grown on me and I'm glad to see it's not pulling any punches on the violence. It's honestly giving me more of a Shadowrun vibe than Blade Runner so far, but I'm as much of a die hard Shadowrun fan as I am a Blade Runner fan so it works out for me.
Some nice little nods the original Blade Runner. The Roy Batty dive, the Ennis house tiles and the OffWorld Colonies ads. I'll also never get tired of seeing spinners in action. I hope it gets a blu ray release so I can buy it.
And I also gotta say the soundtrack has grown on me as well, I even found it on youtube and ripped it.

I feel like I’ve mentioned it before, but any of you in the US with FX on Hulu (apparently) and for us in Canada with Disney Plus, there’s a great show created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Watiti called Reservation Dogs. It’s about a group of indigenous kids on a reservation in Oklahoma who are trying to scrape money together (by any means necessary) to make a break for a better life in California.
I just finished the eighth and final episode of season one (season two is confirmed), and I can’t recommend this show enough. The cast is incredible, almost all fresh faces with a few surprise guests (ep 7 guest blew my mind!), and stories you haven’t seen anywhere else. It’s hard to talk too much about it without spoiling stuff, but it’s rural Oklahoma and young adults trying to find their place in the world while running into old traditions and beliefs. The writing is great, I find myself genuinely laughing out loud multiple times an episode, but there are some really serious and sad issues addressed in very respectful but fresh ways. And, it turns out, one of my favourite characters, Willy Jack, lives in my city for now, and is from a res close to here!
Do yourselves a favour and check this out. You can feel that it’s a labor of love, FX gave these guys full autonomy, they hired all of their own writers, crew, actors, and gave different independent film directors a chance to write and/or direct episodes of the show. Pretty cool, unique show with cool stories from an indigenous perspective.

So yeah, Book of Boba Fett episode one. It doesn’t get any better for me, Boba Fett, check. Temuera Morrison, check. Robert Rodriguez directing?!? What?! Check.
I loved it, I’m sure there will be hate, there always is, but the fact that The Mandalorian and now The Book of Boba Fett exists tells me that someone out in this vast, cold, otherwise fairly selfish and egocentric universe is good and genuinely loves THIS guy! 😁
I hope you people give it a go and like it as well! Don’t forget to check out Reservation Dogs while you’re at it! 🙂

And I am not at all surprised that you'd be a fan of his. I'm looking forward to watching it 😎 Seems like the Mandalorian universe has been immune from the recent "rot" of the force. I think Nth hit the nail on the head why too. And thanks for the review of Reservation Dogs too, Bak! It sounds really interesting 💡

It’s amazing how the decisions of one narrow minded person entirely uninvested and with no knowledge of a storied and loved franchise can so quickly and easily destroy its reputation.
That’s what I love about John Favreau’s recent involvement, the guy is a FAN, you can feel it in every episode of the Mandalorian, they’re all labours of love. I guess his avenger shit got him carte blanche from the evil mouse overlords, and what a treat for fans. A smaller budget, reliance on more practical effects than is typical these days, great storytelling, and LOVE for the source material. Hmm, who would have thought those elements would come together to produce something both fans and the uninitiated could enjoy immensely?! I’m glad Mandalorian and the Book exist, there’s still hope (a NEW hope?!) for the series! 🙂

Well, I'll throw in my few cents...
I was impressed by Book of Boba's first episode. I've been a lifelong Star Wars fan, but cooled on it due to Kathleen's toxicity. Favreua and Filoni did a great job at reviving interest with Mando, Cthe final season of the Clone Wars, Bad Batch and now Boba Fett.
I've been watching classic TV on streaming apps. All in the Family, Good Times and now Sanford and Son. My wife started on Golden Girls, and for Christmas, I got my wife the 1970s Wonder Woman show on DVD.
I've also been watching classic WWF and started Mid-South on Peacock.

Dexter finally comes to an end. At least a more satisfying end than the original run. Still not the ending I would have written for the show, but better than last time.
So far I'm liking The Book of Boba Fett. Favreau and Filoni continue to pull more legends lore back into canonization which I am all for. Also the brief appearance of Black Krrsantan was pretty cool. I guess with the Obiwan series in production it's likely we'll see him over there as well, especially since it was Obiwan who have him that massive scar over his eye in the comics.
From the rumors I am hearing about Kathleen Kennedy's High Republic series; it's a production mess on all fronts. Leslye Headland; the appointed golden child from Kathleen herself, is having major creative differences and Kennedy appears to be trying to use her one Star Wars platform left to continue to unbrand George Lucas from his own creation and make it her own. She also attempted to change the name Lucasfilm to StarBright Productions, but was vetoed by the Bobs.
Waiting until I go on vacation to start the last season of The Expanse and am thinking I may start the series over from the beginning since I have five weeks off.
Still haven't started the new season of The Witcher. Just don't feel any rush to at the moment, especially since I am hearing Geralt seems to be playing second fiddle to every other side character on the show.

I wish I may, I wish I might, Torpedo this IP cause I'm always right." 😁 In other news (related to a series rebooted by people who actually love the original source material...), I highly recommend people check out Season 4 of Cobra Kai. While Season 1 is still probably my favorite season of the series, Season 4 is my second favorite. (I really liked Seasons 2 and 3 too but not as much as 1 and 4). Season 4 goes in places I didn't expect and features both excellent fighting and really cool philosophy about fighting styles that is both consistent with the "Karate Kid" world and also evolves it considerably. Also has a kickass final scene that gets me super HYPE for Season 5 🥋

The Book of Boba Fett may have lost me (and most of its viewers apparently)over the last couple episodes. I've been doing a lot of face palming as this great character gets watered down to a Disnified milktoast shadow of his former self. The power rangers from a couple episodes ago definitely didn't help either. When I saw screenshots of it I actually thought it was a photoshop at first.
