I tried so hard to get good sims out of this game, and as expected was ultimately let down. It's too bad. I know it's blasphemy, but this game does a lot of things better than fire pro. The AI is just shit. It doesn't make use of most of it's moveset or capabilities, and it's based on the AI reversing everything and using the player's own momentum against them. Even when the player loses, they mostly beat themselves. It's like a rigged card game. The AI won't initiate any action that has multiple reversal opportunities because it's not in their favour. It lets you initialize these things, fail, and then capitalizes on that failure. I simmed tons of hardcore, tlc, and backstage brawls. Could barely get the CPU to even acknowledge weapons or attacks. Most of my normal matches end in count outs in the first minute or two. Either because they can't figure out how to get back in the ring, or they sell a basic move for longer than the referee counts. This game has so much potential, but just can't pull it all together to make it work. This is why I'm mostly done the series. Its obviously made as more of a player vs player game. The AI isnt outright dumb, but itsn't at all intereting. Every wrestler seems to sim the same (which I guess is similar to real life WWE), and once you play the CPU enough, winning matches is a breeze because its purely centered around reversals.
I totally agree that they get a lot right with the game (its visually awesome), and if they ever decided to implement any kind of AI logic it could be a really really fun time...

I recreated Rosa del Mundo earlier this afternoon. She's a narcissistic Spaniard with little no respect for Lucha Libre traditions and she believes no one should be allowed to hide behind a mask. She's an homage to Eddie Guerrero, sharing a majority of his moves.

You said that you wanted to do more with Eliza, but ran out of edit points. Have you tried just using one of the game's proper dresses instead of a skirt and corset combo? You can make it blue, and then add on some rounded square designs in the same material to make the white parts / apron on her classic dress if the apron accessory isn't compatible. Then put a drop shadow under them to give the illusion of depth.
I had a stupid idea for a wrestler called Rob Van Gogh, which should be an obvious mashup. And I'd just morph one of his ears all messed up. He botches all his highspots because of the balance issue.

Hey, question that's been bugging me for ages, when the CPU has me in a rest hold they can do multiple attacks (in between filling the "bar"), however when I get the CPU in a rest hold I can only ever do one. Am I missing something?

So, this game is on sale right now and I keep going back and forth on getting it. I trust opinions from the firepro community more than info reviews from outside, so any impressions y'all could give me would be appreciated. For reference:
I played and largely enjoyed 2k17. (I skipped 18 because an obscure Japanese wrestling game came out that year.) Any notable improvements/downgrades between then and now?
I'm a big women's wrestling fan. One thing that took away from 2k17 was that all the women seemed to be set to be "weightless" - they would spring up to the top rope like Spiderman (or if you got their agility low enough, they might "only" move like RVD) and weight detection could never trigger - they could always be lifted no matter what. Did they fix that?
I can see from video that the mini-game-type situations are similar, especially the submission one. Between 16 and 17 they improved it somewhat, increasing the handling and making damage/wrestler skill level have more effects. Did they improve that any further? Slide back? Exactly the same?
Are there any more "generic" down-at-head grapples besides the old heel neck-twist deal? I remember having to give that to almost everybody in 2k17, and it got a bit obnoxious to see over and over.
Any other cool generic or really utilitarian move additions that stand out as working for a lot of people? (2k17 actually impressed me a bit here because they ended up with a lot of DLC guys who didn't do a whole lot, and animated tons of basic shit. Thanks, Greg Valentine!) Any standard moves that they took out that stand out? (This is a series that had several years without a SPLASH or a LEGDROP, after all.)
Still 100 edits? Does it still take a full edit space to give an in-game guy an alt attire?
I appreciate any questions you can answer or impressions you can give, thanks.

I'll answer what I can remember
Yes, they have changed the way creations get to the top rope. In the moveset selection, you can actually choose how you want your CAW to climb up, both front ways and backwards (for moonsaults and the like). The "agility" attribute effects how quickly they climb onto the ropes. They've also enabled women to go up to 280 lbs, meaning that there is an additional weight class now, Heavyweight. The only thing this effects noticeably are attribute caps and whether a cruiserweight with low lifting strength can get a heavyweight up for a slam (as usual, they have a limited but customizable moveset for these specific instances).
I like the idea of the submission wheel and felt that it was at its best incarnation in WWE 2K18, post patches. It shouldn't be an automatic tap (unless the difference in submission offense/defense attribute is huge) but it shouldn't be very difficult for a high submission character to submit a low submission defense character and I feel that this is too often the case in 2K19. There is an alternate button mashing submission mini-game but I'm not personally very good at it. As for other mini-games, the Royal Rumble has been tweaked a bit but is still relatively easy while the "chain" wrestling/ground holds mini-games are the same as they've been since they were first introduced in.....I want to say 2k17, albeit with slightly more move variety. The kickout meter is the same as it's been for many games now, though certain special skills and attributes make it easier or harder for you to do so.
Down at head grapples, hmmmm. When an opponent is down, you have a few attack options, each with their own list of moves to choose from: -You can do a regular grapple (of which there is more variety than the neck snap, mostly consisting of grappled strikes, "roughneck" moves, and even a sitout powerbmb because why the hell not? lol) -You can assign TWO strong strike attacks, one each for face up and face down. -you can apply a submission hold -you can use the "limb target" move to assign another attack that targets the head (though I think a couple also target the arms) -you can apply a rest hold that wears down your opponent's stamina, making them easier to submit or pin -There are now also "kneeling" and "seated" positions that you can attack or grapple your opponent from. I think 2k18 implemented these but they might have been in 2k17 also.
I'm not really sure on move omissions/additions. It's been way too long since I've looked at the moves list for the older games but nothing jumps out at me when trying to remember glaring omissions. I do know that they often go back and forth on which legends are included and while they may remove their models and personal likeness from the game, they "usually" keep their unique animations, specifically for movesets and entrances.
Yep, still 100 edits and it still takes a slot to make a custom attire for a default wrestler.
That's all that I can remember. Hopefully it helps.

WWE2K20 news has started coming out
Interested in the 'Streamlined Controls.' That could be really helpful as I am someone who still has trouble with the controls of the these games. Hogan looks like he will be back in. With these games all I care about is the Legends rosters so here's hoping for guys like Bret and Perfect as well.

With the return of Hogan, a woman's MyCareer (finally), and mixed tag matches, they're already responding (again) to criticisms of the previous year's title by implementing perceived improvements. I personally really liked the gameplay in 2k19 so they can leave that alone completely for all I care. My only major concern is that they finally find some way to make online not completely stupid. I don't even do "Ranked" or that silly stuff; just playing a private online match with a couple of friends is a nightmare in itself and has been for years.

Yukes no longer developing WWE games. 2K have give them less responsibilities over the years but now they are gone and are free.

Although, I believe originally it was said it would still be under the 2k Banner.
Interested to see what they do after being free after so many years. As far as I'm oncerned Here Comes the Pain was the last WWE game that was actually fun to play.

I have a baaaaaad feeling about 2K20, the title changing hands, simplified controls... it could all go badly wrong. Might take them a couple of games to hit their stride and get it right.

Reason 4212 why I can't run a sim show in WWE2K19 lol. You tried AI, you tried. No face morphing yet (or ever...) New Ray, looking like he can compete for the Dupp Cup The Belt. I should make the PP logos silver The Boss. Found some better Sabu pants, and realized Sasha's logos worked well. Mr Marvelous. I should put the gold dragon back on the tights. The armband to remember Jr, who never made it back from Sumeria lol.
