Some new footage of 2k20 finally starting to filter out.
I actually cancelled my pre-order for the deluxe edition now that the DLC packs have been revealed to be complete garbage. All I want are any additional move packs and Hogan as far as DLC content so I hope if I buy the standard edition I can still get those separately.
EDIT: Yikes. Seems like the game will need some intense patching over the next few months. Definitely holding off on this one until it's in the bargin bin.

This game franchise is a curious thing, everyone loves to hate it. There’s hype around a new release, then the inevitable torrent of shit and complaints that follow. I think the last one I tried was 2K16 (the one with SCSA on the cover), it seemed okay, but between the huge roster of nondescript, very similar characters and the confusing menu, it just turned me off. Obviously people like the game, it sells like mad and there are incredibly talented CAW makers like DM_PSX (your stuff is amazing!), but here again, people just love to slag this game off! I do not envy the developers of this game, perhaps they could make nice with the fans and INCLUDE all of the characters as UNLOCKABLES instead of fleecing people for everything they have. I will need to give this game another shot.

2K20 is... It's *bad*. I'm not some sort of crusader against 2K, but damn. This year's game is unfinished and you can tell straight away that Yukes did a lot of the heavy-lifting for the series.
I won't go too far into the models because I don't particularly care about graphics, but this is a considerable downgrade in quality from 2K19. Hair is flying off the models; Masks don't load properly ~ Mysterio's mask was literally an explosion of 3D artifacts. I feel bad for people who paid $90 for this kind of quality in a product. They deserve a quality product, but they didn't get it from this game. They have every right to be outraged. If I bought the game, I would be too. There's a reason I don't pre-order things anymore.
I played 2K19 enough where I didn't really hate it, it was reasonably fun to play matches, but creation is where I get most of my fun from in these games and there were too many dumb limits, and those limits are still in 2K20.
I won't be purchasing 2K20 unless there's a significant improvement in fixes. 2K19 was fine for what it was, I didn't experience too many bugs or glitches outside of some weird texture glitches on logos and stuff like that. That's really it.
If you want a WWE game, play 2K19 or one of the old Smackdown vs RAW games. Otherwise, stick to whatever other franchises you enjoy the most.

I'm usually the first one to crap on a new version of this game but I don't do that anymore. It's a yearly product that emulates the WWE and that's all you need to know about it.

I don't care about the graphics and I don't even care about the incidental glitches but they launched with a broken logo uploader. You can upload your logos to 2K's site or cloud or whatever but you can't actually download your logos into the game. What the actual hell? This makes creating a unique, highly detailed CAW effectively impossible.
The sad thing is, while people gave Yuke's all sorts of shit for being bad at this or that, at least they made a concerted effort to patch their mistakes. I don't have that kind of faith in Visual Concepts, as their track record with NBA 2K suggests that they really don't give a damn if their shit is working or not.
I'll give it some time but if they don't fix this, I will NEVER buy another WWE video game, regardless of who makes it and I've been buying them for 20 years, damn near every year at that.

So, having calmed down a bit since that last post, I have to admit there's so much "potential" for this to be a good game but the bugs are unacceptable. EVERY WWE 2K game has launched with a handful of minor glitches that were quickly remedied. This year's game launched with so many glitches that there just couldn't have been any actually Q/A team working with it and if there was, they were either grossly incompetent or completely ignored by the producers. Regardless of who's responsible for it, they need to take accountability and rectify the major glitches ASAP. There's supposed to be a DLC pack available next Tuesday (yes, exactly >_<) which will invariably include a patch of some sort but even then would be kind of "late" since we'll be going into the game's first weekend with it being a largely unenjoyable mess.
Edit: oh wow, the terrible launch is actually making mainstream news sites (undoubtedly because of the social media stir)

Yeah. It's like Assassin's Creed Unity level bad.
At least the New Legacy Inc. videos will be entertaining.

Wow, I expected it to be fairly shitty peppered with unrealistic fan expectations, but the pictures from that BBC article are f$&king disgraceful! How is it even legal to accept money from consumers for that kind of broken trash? Lots of unhappy campers posting here, so I know the complaints are legit.
Onviously WWE doesn’t care so long as people continue to throw dump trucks of preorder money at them for games, but let’s say they decided to take an interest in selling an actual wrestling game that accurately captures the goings on of a match, where do they even start to make things right? Is the problem 2K? How did this slide so far off course?

The game is basically a massive shitshow this year. Stuff like that is why I usually don't buy these games at launch.

Visual Concepts took over development of this installment from Yukes and claim Yukes left them nothing and that they had to rebuild everything in the game from scratch. That doesn't make sense to me though. Why try and cobble together that old Yukes engine and not create something completely new and free of Yukes old cumbersome mechanics. I'm still interested in getting the game, for completionist purposes, but it'll definitely be at a bargain bin price. I think I'll pick up The Outer Worlds and The Outer Wilds this month instead.

I think yukes talking about making another wrestling game so they can do things they wanted in wrestling game got them kicked off the project sooner than originally planned and probably left visual concepts with less help than they needed.

Honestly, Visual Concepts' NBA 2K games are rubbish too. I just don't think they're very good at this.
