I know the feeling. My previous phone died and it took me a few days to replace it. The time in between felt weird in some ways, even though I had spent most of my life without a cellphone before that.
It was also annoying because what happened to the old phone meant I couldn't transfer anything to my new one, including contacts. There's some stuff I'm sad to have lost but there was other stuff that I'm glad to have left behind.
I had been telling myself I need to spend less time on my phone and that may do it. This new one is completely different and I don't know how I feel about it yet.
I lost my keys a few times when I was younger but I don't think I've ever lost my wallet, thankfully. Knock on wood.

I too know the shame of going from not having a cell to being stuck with these blasted hand held computers.
I thought I lost my smart phone a few weeks back and yes, panic set in. Thankfully I calmed down, retraced my steps and found it.
I don't even use that many apps and I avoid social media as it's a plague. Yet the feeling was horrible when I thought I lost it.
I came close to losing my keys one time when I lived in Northern Labrador (Canadians will know what I am talking about).
I once dropped my keys through a slit in the wood on the deck and feel into snow, at night.
I found my keys but almost ended with with frostbite.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that doesn't do social media. I've been on blogging sites that had social aspects but nothing that would be considered social media proper, like Facebook or Twitter. Not even Myspace.

I have no social media aside from twitter which I actually started just to follow Director Matsumoto for Fire Pro Wrestling World updates. I have since found that following other devs on twitter is the easiest way to get game news since most game sites now are pretty dismal as far as content go.
I remember my supervisor asking me at work what my facebook was after I started and I told him I didn't have facebook and he didn't believe me and said he would just look me up. I found out later the company will actually keep tabs on employees through facebook and other forms of social media to see if they're talking shit about the company. I've seen a few people fired and a few disciplined for things they've posted on facebook, like calling in sick and then documenting your day out hiking on facebook or posting workplace pictures in a plant that has a no picture policy. I've been around long enough to know the loophole of don't say specific names and you can pretty much say whatever you want and still have plausible deniability.

"Do you use Facebook?"
No. I can find the same stupid memes three weeks ahead of time elsewhere and football sucks.

One of my weaknesses is that I can get salty over some things. However, I have found a level of salt that did not think possible.
So it seems that on PS4 there is a Fire Pro user that has a rep for spamming requests, then lately apparently been stealing edits and then making them taller and more lanky.
A PS4 user has taken it upon themselves to create a jobber based on that user.
I would post the link, but in the description of the character it looks like a real name is listed, so I don't want to dox...but the level of salt is incredible.
It isn't just 1 edit of the allegedly spamming thief, but there are least 2 edits devoted to the guy. A "Spam Commentator" version and a "Thief" version. The Thief version is giving off a "Riddler as a Yankees fan" vibe :)

Today marks seven years and nine months at my current job. That ties the previous record for longest I've been with a company and will inevitably break it tomorrow.
Seems kinda funny considering I thought this would just be a temporary six month deal when I started.

It's weird the things that stay with you. Like, way back in 2002 or 03, someone wrote a WWE-themed parody of Bohemian Rhapsody and sent it to Wrestlecrap. Even now I'll remember a few lines from it when I hear the real song, like "he's a hoss, he's a hoss, we can put him over Rico" or "my knees won't gooooo."

Does anyone else keep thinking 2019 was last year or is it just me?

Does anyone else keep thinking 2019 was last year or is it just me? Not particularly, although I can understand if it feels like 2020 v1.1

That's pretty much why, I think. I knew the problems of 2020 wouldn't magically disappear on January 1 but I also didn't expect that it would make it harder to say if the first two months of this year feel any different from last year.
Thankfully I've been able to remember to write the correct year on checks, at least.
