Not really sure how to describe the idea of this outside of "if it doesn't deserve it's own thread or belong in an existing one, post it here."
Anyhow, I was talking with a guy tonight about his increasing marital problems (he talked, I listened) and he dropped a really neat allusion on me in the midst of it. I'll try to paraphrase it:
"You know that thing when you ground stuff up in a bowl? That's how low I feel right now. I'm that dust. You can't come back from that low without liquid. Love is that liquid, and I don't have that right now."
Dramatic? Most definitely. Sincere? 100%. It's not everyday that you hear someone reference a mortar & pestle as an expression of their feelings but this heartsick man did just that.
As unfortunate as the situation he painted seemed (and I don't judge beyond that because I only know his side but wish them both the best, ya know?), the poetry of that statement really caught me off guard. Like, I like talking with the dude because he's intelligent but that still kind of floored me. Some straight up Keats shit. lol

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. -Jack Handy

Wasn't there a 'shit that doesn't deserve it's own thread' thread on at least one previous incantation of this forum? Anyway, this is that now.
Speaking of such, is there a 'I need a name for' thread? There definitely was one before.
Anyway, what would you call the hypothetical joining of forces between both Four Horsewomen into one big super-group of 8? Besides 'The Eight Horsewomen'. Maybe something else biblical, but still well known among everyone (like the term 'Horsemen' is.) I'll also accept adding more women to reach a better fitting number like 12.

^yeah, that's the idea of this thread
anyhow, for your query, I might drop the biblical references and go for other mythologies unfortunately, the only things that I can think of that are associated with number 8 in mythology are the Japanese dragon Yamata no Orochi (8 heads/tails) and the Norse horse Sleipnir (8 legs)
there's probably something better out there but that's all that came to immediate mind
also, for some reason, this exists

Other than that, there are animals like the spider, the octopus, the tick, and maybe others, that work with the 8 number.

Pre-ordered it two years ago, had it paid off a year ago, finally got in stock and on the way via courier to my house:
Next up on the potential future purchase block:
I already have a number of previous models of Tomenosuke's, but this Signature Edition model is going to be super rare.
These are releasing this month. Only 100 of them, only half of those being sold in North America, very expensive. I'm going to restrain myself until after the holiday season. If there are still any available I will be making a downpayment and planning some overtime shifts.

Interesting names out there in the sports world, I mentioned Dicker the kicker playing for Texas, just saw a recap of a CHL game between the Oilkings one the Victoria Royals, the Royals goaltender is named Griffin Outhouse. Sometimes I see atheletes or professionals with odd last names and wonder if they’d be achieving like they are if their last names were more common ones (boy named Sue phenomenon?). Just a random rambling, enjoy the name.

^you know, the first time I heard Amy Winehouse's name, I thought it was a stage name, especially given that the song I heard before they said it was "Rehab"
I don't know if there's ever been a more ironically/tragically named performer in recent memory
But yeah, sometimes you see athletes with such unique names that you think "they had to have been destined for some sort of stardom" lol

I guess it's not a weird name in and of itself, but my wife was just watching a Dallas vs Seattle NFL game and one of the players was apparently named Xavier Woods.
Made me do a mental double take almost every time.

Made me do a mental double take almost every time. Reminds me that a movie I saw in the last year (think it was Ant Man and the Wasp) had an Adam Cole in the credits. As I expected, a small group of people in the back shouted Adam Cole, Baybay! when he scrolled by.

If anything good came out of tonight's drama where someone decided to alienate most of the community, it's that a lot of the regulars here ended up in the same stream chat room tonight and everyone mutually expressed admiration and appreciation of each other's work (and of others who weren't there), and that the implied heat between certain users didn't exist in actuality. We have a great group of creative and helpful people here (which is rare for most forums), and one or two bad apples don't get to poison the well. I guess it's not a weird name in and of itself, but my wife was just watching a Dallas vs Seattle NFL game and one of the players was apparently named Xavier Woods. As I expected, a small group of people in the back shouted Adam Cole, Baybay! when he scrolled by. Reminds me of a time I watched a random youtube video and someone thanked me at the end. I have no idea who that person was, never spoke to them, and couldn't think of anything I could have possibly contributed. Like a being a producer in Hollywood I guess.
