Thanks mate, I did get my Letter of Eligibility with the FL DOE to be a teacher. I haven't been able to be hired by a Public school, but now I am broadening to apply to Charter Schools. Also, as I received my US Citizenship in Jan, I already filed for unemployment benefits. My wife, who has been a teacher for some 14 years is also speaking to the substitute locator at her school to see what's needed to be a sub.
So while the timing sucks, I was building up an exit plan since last March. I'm sorry to hear about the layoff. It's never a good time for that but especially during the holidays. I really hope that you can find a teaching job very soon! That is great about getting the Letter of Eligibility! |

I received the letter in September and had a few interviews, but if I had gotten the letter in July, I think I would've had more opportunity.
Still, the good thing about Charter schools is that they are needy according to my wife, and so I hope to get something. I already sent my resume to two schools over the weekend and I plan on making phone calls this week.

Well, to their credit, the workplace that dropped me like a bad habit (thanks Gorilla Monsoon for the simile), did give me a nice letter of recommendation. The timing still sucks, the lack of warning still sucks...but at least I can walk away from that chapter with my head up and with nice closure.
That guy with the Security company is still a jackass though...I know I need to forgive, but he is what he is.

I get the whole attention to detail but it was like "I'm done for the day, I'm just catching up with you because I feel like it. Maybe tomorrow if they get some other stuff ready it can be, well, we're going to have to move this around anyway so maybe we can make it look nicer."
Similarly a very brief message I didn't quite say don't bother me right now but if that's how they take it, fine. When this jacket goes on all my cares go away. All of them. It is quite simply "is what we have to do today done" and "are you part of the problem or part of the solution?"

Perhaps I will hear a bit more today but apparently useless is on the way out. More interesting is who is apparently wants that spot and how they've been openly campaigning for one since the other person (who I can't say I miss too much either) left over the summer. I guess I would be more concerned about who would then try to get in, although I know of one person who keeps trying to return while claiming they ain't never coming back.

Walked into a gripe that was as petty as it was stupid. Even if it had been an emergency there were literally three other people there. Plus another rumor that I'm not sure is worth the time to even go through, and even then, I'd definitely know soon anyway.

Not a fan of these things especially since it should have been months ago etc. but at the same time it's not the hill to die on. Yet I see Mr. Mercurial's point of "well, if I can just do this with no fallout then what's the point? If we're just going to bullshit what counts and what doesn't, why even care?"

It's funny when I try to distance myself from certain things and they still want to creep in. Literally sitting in my chair at one point while I was trying to catch somebody else up on everything going on.

Not a horror story per se but I remembered something that I think says a thing or two about customer attentiveness.
I was managing the "video games, music, and miscellaneous crap" department of a multimedia retailer in 2011 when Skylanders came out. At some point during my tenure, corporate had us doing a "buy one get one free" promotion on the figures.
We had two adjacent fixtures for them but they only sent me one sign. Rather than make a cheap-looking photocopy I thought, "people are smart, they can figure out it applies to all of them."
When I checked back a few days later, the fixture that had the sign had been picked over but the fixture without still had plenty of figures.

Our boss had to go to the other site. Of course due to shenanigans he had to stay for a couple more hours and address everything he could. Because what we already thought was not going to work out well had some new and exciting fuckups. He walked in this afternoon with a "I SEEN SOME SHIT TODAY" look on his face.
On a lower scale I opened up the daily spreadsheets and had to do a double take. Data in the wrong places. Formatting that shouldn't happen on that particular item. If I was being optimistic maybe they got crossed up when switching between tabs but given past history they probably just sat there doing the bare minimum with no care or attention to detail.
Stuff also apparently happened with the ice queen that left her in tears the other night. My sources tell me I was right, but until she is ready to get things back on track I guess we're just going to miserable for a while longer. And I'm certainly not going to run over and try given last year, or even still a few weeks ago.

Big pile of fail: Useless now(?) has the idea he can just take over a spot that was supposedly drawn up for him but has a slight problem in that somebody else is there. Normally I would say that's not gonna happen, but given some of the other bullshit going on and the other person's tendency to complain or weasel out of stuff... But yeah, that doesn't seem to address the current issue at all and still leaves a void at their current spot. I should also say something about how they nearly screwed several of us over our annual updates. But in going over the list myself it's very out of date and probably not even cross-referenced. Of course they didn't even repeat the quick 30 day extension, because they already had to the last time they fucked up. Probably because they fucked up in November, and October, and honestly probably September. The few times I've interacted with this person they seemed to be good, so I don't know if something happened or if their support staff is just lazy. Speaking of lazy, yeah, the same shit happened again, and is getting worse. They were literally putting glitter on phones, Mr. Mercurial had the gall to mention that they shouldn't have their phones out except for business and I'm sure they all went to complain about him being mean. Because only the mean guys follow the rules, silly!
Even the news that Derpy is serious about leaving didn't help.

I hate being right sometimes.
Support really let this person down and they've got health issues on top so eventually one of those idiots is probably going to be in charge of it. So I guess we should start expecting fuckups to be routine. *sigh*
Derpy's prospects of actually following through aren't good. They already soured things with our boss at the other site, and with another department. Now they apparently want to be in food prep...
Useless apparently will be back in a couple weeks and sadly Pain in the Ass might return by the end of the week.

Training today. Of course if at least one particular no-shows it could be extremely informative for other reasons.
On that note, I heard Pain in the Ass did show up the other day but quickly had to go home. Or were pretty much told to go home. Probably still going to drag things out. With the added frustration of three having their own form of "fuck you I'm still taking these days off." And two if not more of the normal fill ins also being unavailable for reasons. Yet I haven't heard anything and it doesn't sound like anyone jumped at D finally saying "ok if you keep asking me I'm interested."

So yeah, had a good talk with the trainer but most of it was about other things.
What I learned today explained a lot about yesterday. Maybe there's some more specific things that can be put in place but mostly it seems like each of them should have been more careful.
More directly it makes this weekend more of a hassle. And that's before we even think about the other site.
