First trailer for the Dragon's Dogma anime now out.
Still trying to figure out why they had to give him the overused trope of his family being murdered when the dragon already stole his heart but other that I'm pretty excited for this. It's favorite game and has interesting lore that I hope they work with. Still keeping expectations low though. |

Wow very big news about the Shenmue anime!! 👏 I've never actually gotten a chance to play the game but have always wanted to. This anime may be the introduction to the story for me.

I’ve never finished a Shenmue game, I did get it in the Dreamcast back in the day, I played a bit of it, lots of mini games (I remember arm wrestling some schlub and racing forklifts, cruising around discovering the city thinking “wow, this place is huge!”). I was broke as a joke back then and got my DC after Sega stepped away from the console race, so I got mine at a pawn shop for around $25, but the main reason I got it was for a little import game from japan some of you around here might have heard of, so I got distracted and never finished Shenmue. 🙂 I’m stoked to check the anime out!

Yeah, I always heard that Shenmue was great but the Dreamcast was a funny transition period for me.
I went from obsessed with fighting games to obsessed with that same little import game with the 2D graphics you ended up with. (What are the odds we're both talking about it on the same forum!? 😄)
It didn't leave much room for experimentation. I know I had a few DC games that weren't Capcom or SNK (or Capcom vs. SNK) fighters or Fire Pro but I honestly can't remember which ones they were besides NFL 2K.

According to Amazon, Fist of the North Star getting a new hardcover reprint with Volume 1 coming in June 2021 from VIZ Media. Glad I can finally pick this series up now without the hassle of trying to track down all the out of print stuff.
