I don't know why I even looked at it, but I did, and just binged the entire season of High Score Girl on netflix. Judging by the fact we have an entire area based on video games, and specifically a nine page thread on fighting games, if you're an anime fan, a fighting game fan, or a gaming history buff in general, you will find something to enjoy in this well written if not a little odd series. I don't like current gen anime, I find it nauseatingly cutesy and just plain annoying, but this one really sucked me in (like a HUMAN VACUUM! Watch the show, you'll get it.). Plus, the mom has some sweet moves people here will appreciate!

I need to watch Grappler Baki too. I've always wanted to check that series out.
I've given a few modern Adult Swim anime shows a try recently. I gotta say how pleasantly surprised I am and hooked onboth My Hero Academia and Mob Psycho 100. I've watched both of them for the past few months and really enjoy them. Excellent fighting as well as character and story arc building for MHA and Mob is really interesting from a psychological and humor perspective. Between these two and the eventual new (LONG AWAITED) season of One Punch Man, it's a pretty good time for modern versions of 90's style anime.

I think I've gotten to book 6 or 7, and had to give it up after that because I don't have any more room for books. But I'd like to start again, once I have some more space for it.

Initially I was going to start buying all the individual volumes and I realized I would soon be out of space. Last year I bought two prefabricated bookshelves as I ran out of room and they are both full now. Now that they are finally releasing the series in deluxe edition format in North America starting in March I am going to pick all those up instead. The first 3 deluxe editions will all be out by the end of 2019 and collect volumes 1-9.

I know this show is super popular, but is the consensus here that it is any good? It always looked interesting to me, but I haven't given it a shot yet. It's being mentioned alongside Berserk, so either there is some defcon 4 blasphemy going on around here, or it's pretty decent. I've seen the big ass, el gigante looking dudes breaching city walls and eating people like little screaming snacks, but is there a moody teen prodigy that I'l have to endure? Thanks in advance! |

Somewhat, but for me anyway, it never got bad enough where I had to fast forward anything.
