Battle for the Grid might end up being on sale during Steam's Winter Sale, so keep that in mind.
I mostly only play these games to scratch the itch and then I move on. I really noticed it a couple of years ago when I was playing MK11 and trying to get a break into competitive scenes that it wasn't for me. I constantly drop combos and pressing the buttons in a precise manner all while telegraphing the opponent is too much for me. What I really want is to get in there and hit people, lol.
Def Jam FFNY was the last time I was any good at a fighting game. I gotta get my PS2 emulator running again because that game is easily one of my favorite games in the genre and one of my favorite games of all time.
As I've gotten older, I've also noticed that I prefer to refine my understanding of mechanics more than knowing the ins-and-outs of all my characters. Using FFNY as an example, I knew all of my custom characters quite well, but I could play just about anyone on the roster and do well with them. At the highest difficulty, you absolutely need to know when to block and especially need to know how to properly use the parry mechanics or you're screwed. I remember getting my shit pushed in by Crack/Fat Joe spamming the Pedigree over and over again (anyone that played the game knows exactly what that feels like), but eventually I became proficient to the point where I could block chains of attacks and then parry every grapple attempt made.
I imagine I'd be pretty decent at the various MMA games out there if they were on a platform I owned.

Not really fighting GAME related, but kinda. I was at H Mart (Korean/Asian market chain) and saw THESE in the cooler! Didn’t try them, I’m not a pop (soda for y’all south of the canuckistani border) fan, but I did see them there! I wonder if they make you better at KoF games? 😁 I should have shaken the Mai one to see if there are oversized boba in it! 😁 maybe had a look for a hidden, Mr Karate one, probably be turnip or cod flavoured.

Battle for the Grid might end up being on sale during Steam's Winter Sale, so keep that in mind. Good call! Tis the season and I'm gonna add that to my Wishlist to keep an eye out 😎 I mostly only play these games to scratch the itch and then I move on. That's exactly it. I have a 30 year fighting game itch that never fully goes away. I can usually scratch it with an SF or KOF game played for a few days in a row every few months. I play to have fun, enjoy some nostalgia, and keep my skills sharp. You know, just in case the devil ever challenges me to a fighting game over a golden fiddle, I want to make sure I never let my skills drop too far. I've played the worst KOF bosses: the devil can't be much cheaper 👿 But after a week I hit the wall: it's not so much a physical one as a psychological one. That cliché "what's my motivation?" actor line comes up but for real. I just start to wonder what the point is of getting significantly better when a) I'm no longer playing competitively against other people and b) the time and effort I would need to actually get better is time I'd really much rather be spending playing other games (FPW) or doing other things. So after a few days of doing combos and maybe learning one new character, I stop playing fighting games for another few months. The cycle works though to address the itching that I get. They don't make an over the counter cream for "air combo finger." Not really fighting GAME related, but kinda. I was at H Mart (Korean/Asian market chain) and saw THESE in the cooler! Didn’t try them, I’m not a pop (soda for y’all south of the canuckistani border) fan, but I did see them there! I wonder if they make you better at KoF games? 😁 Next time my real life Orochi meter is dropping, I'll grab that can to the top left 😄 I should have shaken the Mai one to see if there are oversized boba in it! 😁 maybe had a look for a hidden, Mr Karate one, probably be turnip or cod flavoured.

So! Apparently the newest character that dropped for Skullgirls and one of the more important ones lore-wise, the cyborg Medici assassin, Black Dahlia has a special move which can turn an assist character into a bomb.
Seems intentional, and fits with her character. After all, in her backstory, an experiment she had to save her life left her with "a fascination with despair". This shit is why she decided to kill off Squiggly last in the No Russian Cottinello Massacre. Let her see the carnage before blowing the child's head open with her shotgun arm.
Who's to say she's just getting rid of the "Deadweight"?

I don't always play fighting games, but when I do, my favorites always have a Hip Attack. That's the rule.

New footage of unannounced street fighter spin off! The realism is amazing!

Step aside, RE Engine, this is unparalleled. Gameplay looks a bit iffy, though.

SF6 looks amazing, I love that Zangief FINALLY looks like a pro wrestler, his move animations look more like King/Armour King’s from Tekken, right down to the Flair chops! The original guys new paint jobs and move animations look incredible, Blanka, Deejay, Dhalsim (his animations are mind blowing, he looks so “fluid” now!), even Cammy are all big steps forward! If they don’t have a Popeye DLC costume for the big forearm guy at some point, they’re throwing away a great opportunity! 😁 One thing though, is this a Splatoon crossover? What’s with the huge colour splashes? It’s fine, it looks cool (especially Deejay’s), but why do so many games seem to do this now? Also, time to bring back the barf animation!!!

SF devs have been recently watching some puroresu!
In Zangief's updated moveset I saw:
- As Bak said, a chop animation much closer to a pro wrestling chop. - Double Axe Handle to head/back of neck - Flashing elbow - Dragon screw (as a special counter, no less!) - Textbook bodyslam - Spinning Jackhammer - German Suplex timing looks more authentic. - Kobashi head-hold lariat
Also would very much like the BARF sell back! 😄

My girl Cammy looking amazing. I'm getting hype for SF6 even though I'm still bad at these games. I should just stick to Guilty Gear but I love Cammy and I love how they brought in moves she used in the anime movie.

Wow. I’ve always loved the idea of King, but, as big of a tekken fan as I’ve been through the years, I’ve never had the patience to perfect those combos. Sweet video!

I knew one person who was able to use King in Tekken 2 extremely well. It's like the second I made an error, he'd pounce with a long combo which felt like it went on for the entire round 😁

Tina Armstrong became my favorite character in the DOA games because she has a Flying Hip Attack and the Sky Twister Press.
I almost want to get the newest game, but KoeiTecmo games are so steep and kinda scam/scummy.
