Hi all!
If games demand their own thread than there's certainly no reason not to make those but I figure for the time being, a general thread is sufficient enough.
Now, given that I'm SUPER excited about the upcoming SoulCalibur VI, naturally, I'm leading off with something regarding it: ANOTHER CHARACTER REVEAL!
And this character needs absolutely no introduction! xD

Yeah I love me some fighting games.
I've been playing a ton of Street Fighter: The 30th Anniversary Collection as of late (Alpha 3 specifically). Unfortunately the Netcode still needs work.

Love the 30th Anniversary Collection, and have been playing all four games on it, more Super Turbo than others, but Hyper Fighting, A3 and Third Strike are all a good time.
As I said in the other topic, also been playing BlazbLue Cross Tag Battle, maining Yang and Waldstein. I like taking the fight to the point where Yang's powerup activates, and then trying to get Waldstein in to wreak havoc with his supers and ridiculous range.

So excited for the new Soul Calibur. Great memories of playing Soul Calibur 2 as a kid.

Yeah you can't go wrong with any of these games for sure. The only problem that I have with Turbo is that it's AI in Arcade mode is notoriously difficult. I believed that they used an earlier version of the rom which was later tweaked to make more accessible. I love Hyper Fighting for it's emphasis on footsies, it's more bare than Turbo but I kinda like it for it's simplicity. Hey has anyone here ever played Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2? I purchased it recently and I'm having a blast with it.

^other than Baiken and general tweaks, what's different about it from the original Xrd?
I love me some Baiken but I can't say that she (or any single character) alone makes me want to upgrade to the newer one.

I can't give you a definitive answer to your question because this is the first version of the game that I've picked up. From what I gather, this is treated much like Capcom's model with Street Fighter of releasing versions of the same game with new fighters and better balancing, but I do know that there was a marginal difference in the visuals from Xrd (base) to REV where the backgrounds looked a bit smoother. I'm not sure if they further polished the visuals from REV to REV 2, though.

I love me some Baiken but I can't say that she (or any single character) alone makes me want to upgrade to the newer one. Better lobby system, better character balancing, improved visuals (mainly the lighting and shading), I think an additional single player mode(?). Also, people are actually online for games since it's the latest version vs Xrd which has been left in the dust long ago. Granted, the last time I played (months ago) the net play crowd was pretty sparse; so I can't say for sure if people are still around for games online.

I was never super into fighting games (see also: I sucked at them), but I remember having a lot of fun with Soul Caliber 2 for the Gamecube. Mostly related to Link's throw being obnoxious where he can ring out you from halfway across the damn arena. Failing that, I've always enjoyed the original Street Fighter 2. Before there was literally 7000 variations of it.

I'm quietly waiting for a brand new Killer Instinct, additional dlc packages for Tekken 7 and a better Marvel vs Capcom game.

Anybody fuck with MUGEN? Is it even worth setting up one? I saw a cool looking Street Fighter II Deluxe that looked fun. And I'm interested in a huge marvel vs other comics game, but they look like a lot to setup.

Finally picked up Tekken 7 for PS4 and it's every bit as awesome as I'd hoped it would be (I really want a King of Iron Fist NJPW style shirt with the Heihachi face on it!!!). I know not everyone is into cross promotion, but facing off against Akuma (Gokui) with Heihachi was a SERIOUS fighting game mark out moment for me. My two favorite fighting game grizzled old bastards on the same screen beating ten shades of shit out of one another... Awesome stuff. Also, it amazes me that I can walk away from fighting games for years, come back, and still bang out old combos as well as nailing SATSUI NO HADO first try after who knows how long in a new, Tekken centric format. Ah, good ol' muscle memory.
Anyone here try the Tekken Bowl DLC? I remember unlocking Tekken Bowl (remember UNLOCKING shit instead of paying as much as the original game for DLC?) back in Tekken Tag Tournament and loving it. A fun distraction from the main game and a good bowling game to boot. Trying to decide if I should fork out the cash or just pass. Thanks in advance!

The latest DLC trailers for Dragon Ball FighterZ just dropped a little bit ago. Here's Base Form Goku and Base Form Vegeta. Out of all the DLC this one I'm not exactly hyped for 3 vegetas what the fuck , some of you might be hyped for Goku, since this one will contain his King Kai stuff (namely, the Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb)

Soooo......
I don't know if you guys have heard about that upcoming SNK Heroines tag-fighter. As the name suggests, it's a fighter that will exclusively use female characters from SNK's franchises. I haven't really been following it but I did notice a.....peculiar....character reveal that people have buzzed about a bit today.
There just aren't any words for that really.
