Now I want to see her do the same thing with that big ass anchor, and she could be weighed down by her decision.

Bridget came out for Strive and super rules and I'm quite happy about it. Great theme song too. youtu.be/eMlf83j7WD8

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2i5_-698S7AJP- mysterious old guy with a cane Marisa- gladiator lady Manon- has shades and pink hair but apparently her main fighting costume is some sort of kurtka / gi with shorts? Lily- speciulation has her as related to T Hawk's tribe? Edit: she's basically doing Condor Dive in the image, so...

New SF6 characters released this week look pretty cool 😎
I like Marisa's potential as a grapple character mixed with Yashiro-style impact punches.
Manon seems to have some grappling potential too but may be more savate/kick-oriented.
Not really sure what to make of JP 😁

Capcom official material specifically calls Manon out as a grappler. She's gonna piss people off and it's gonna be glorious.

I'm really happy to hear that! 👏 I was hoping she'd be somewhat connected to Abel as well.
It's been a few days since I saw it but the intro video for her seemed to focus more on her strikes. I think I did see at least one command grapple. Would love to see some special counters for her and Marisa. I'm still annoyed that Karin was a shell of her grappling self from SF A3. I would hope that since SF6 has kind of an MMA vibe in places (and not just that annoying main character), that they would give us enough grappling. I want command grapples, special counters, maybe some OTG stuff.
I have to remember not to get too frustrated through. After all, KOF is always waiting for me with its warm, welcoming, open arms ...ready to counter and throw me to the ground 😄

I still feel like you should play some Guilty Gear Strive. It's a fun game and has an excellent grappler.

My original experience with the early GG games were that of respect and admiration (particularly for the anime aesthetic) but I had difficulty enjoying the actual game experience. "Weight" of characters in the respective engines is always a big issue for me with fighting games. If the feel is subjectively off for me, I find it really hard to get into the game. This reason (along with the characters) is also why it took strange aeons for me to truly enjoy SF3. SF3 felt as heavy to me as GG felt light. Both games just felt off. I was surprised that GG felt off to me due to my love for the Marvel vs. games. But something about the early GG games just wasn't satisfying to me in comparison to those Marvel games. It wasn't the characters either. I actually really liked the GG characters. How can you not love a dude with a paper lunch bag on his head!? 😄
I did hear that Strive felt different and that the characters had a bit more heft to them. One day I will have to give that a try. Admittedly, I don't play fighting games as much as I used to. I loved the hell out of KOF XV when it came out and when I actually sit down to play it. But I don't have the same desire to play the genre these days. I am looking forward to SF 6 and will likely preorder it but I barely played SF5 in comparison to SF4 despite preferring SF5.

I hate Marisa's design so so much. It's so- I can't even describe how much I hate it. The literal helmet hair is so goofy. "Bad" goofy, not "good" goofy. It's not for me. More power to you if you like it.
Manon's pretty cool though. I like the mixture of dance/ballet with the judo throws.
It's unlikely that I pick up SF6 because I haven't been able to get into a Street Fighter game since Alpha 3. I did not like how Mika played in SF5 compared to Alpha 3.
I kinda want to give Battle for the Grid a real go, but I'm not very good at it. Quite disappointed that there's no real "breakaway" or parry system, so if you get caught in a combo loop, you're pretty well fucked. Unless I'm just that bad at the game and don't understand the mechanics, anyways. I wanna pick up the Red Samurai Ranger DLC at some point soon because she looks cool and her fighting style gives me Mai Shiranui and Kazuki Kazama vibes.

Marisa's hair is definitely super goofy and I worry her character seems to literally believe she's like a Centurion. I mean, UBL also has a Centurion and it's a joke that for 15 years he pretended to believe he was an ancient Roman soldier. We played it for laughs. I'm not sure what to make of her investment in her character in a game with a World Tour mode where Capcom seems to be aiming for more "real" style street fighters. I don't see how she occupies the same canon or mentality as the new lead Luke who is the first guy to step up with a stoic expression when Dana White asks "who wants to be a f'n fighter." I personally hope Manon has a bit more judo than we've seen but I'll hold out hope she's fun to use. It's unlikely that I pick up SF6 because I haven't been able to get into a Street Fighter game since Alpha 3. I did not like how Mika played in SF5 compared to Alpha 3. Same with me and Karin. Capcom gave us Alpha 3 storylines (with a mix of SF3) and aesthetic in a lot of ways but some of the characters just felt like a disappointment. I kinda want to give Battle for the Grid a real go, but I'm not very good at it. It looks sooooooo smooth!!! On first impression, the movement, graphical style, and gameplay reminds me a little of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I loved that game!

It looks sooooooo smooth!!! On first impression, the movement, graphical style, and gameplay reminds me a little of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I loved that game! Here is the Steam Store page if you want to look at footage, screenshots and reviews. Justin Wong of FGC fame had a hand in development - I think he was a gameplay consultant. It's an easy to pick up game (One button specials, except for Ryu and Chun Li, who use their familiar button commands). It's definitely worth looking at if you're into tag fighters and like the universe of Power Rangers/Super Sentai. I am really bad at 2D fighting games in general. I've never been particularly good at them at any point. I played plenty of them growing up and I played SamSho when I was in my early-mid teens. The setting and and characters is what drew me into that series and eventually I found out about Soul Calibur. Battle for the Grid scratches the weapon combat itch and I really love Power Rangers/Super Sentai, so the setting, character and universe are very appealing to me. The game is pretty much like your typical tag team crossover 2D fighter. It's pretty much a combo/juggle game where you want to get a "Touch of Death" combo to defeat your opponent before they have a chance to do anything. The difficulty is kind of cheap, but I'm also not very experienced with the game so far - I've gotten dumpstered in Easy Mode more times than I care to admit, but am able to do the same to the opponent, so I guess it's fair? lol. My favorite characters so far are Super Megaforce Yellow, who fights similarly to Cervantes in Soul Calibur. Kimberly as the Ranger Slayer (that's comic book stuff) and Kat Manx, a feline fighter from SPD.

Battle for the Grid is one of those games that I hear good things about periodically but that style of long combos where individual hits don't do much damage always rubs me the wrong way.

Thank you for the videos and description of Battle of the Grid, Dawn!! 😄
The thing that strikes me about it is how smooth the gameplay looks. It looks like it has decent weight too for a quick moving game with a focus on melee combos but with some projectiles for spacing. In some ways that reminds me of the early Marvel vs. games. (as opposed to the later Marvel games which basically became laser artillery practice). Fighting games occupy a smaller portion of my gaming menu than they used so I don't expect to pick this up any time soon but I imagine getting it on a discount in the future and having some fun with it.
KOF XV is my "current" fighting game but I haven't played it for months. Since I no longer really play these games competitively and am not directly engaged with the FGC anymore, I've found it increasingly pointless to get really into them like I used to. I don't pay for PSN so I can't play them competitively and I really am no longer interested in doing so. I was heavily into fighting games from '91 to like maybe the mid 2000's but then Fire Pro and Red Dead took over. I play fighting games every few months for a few days just when the mood hits. And then when I realize I have to learn a ton of combos to really advance my way into the game experience, I kind of burn out and move on. It's probably one reason why I've been reaching for some of my old favorites over the new games. I get to scratch certain itches with familiar games without feeling the need to go any deeper.
On that note, all I really want out of a fighting game experience right now is for Capcom to just release MSH vs. SF in a playable form on PS4 or even Steam. That remains the fighting game I connected with the most. I miss it and I know I can get that combo timing back without having to watch in-game trial demonstrations.
I'll get some mileage out of SF6 when it comes out but those days of devouring a fighting game are over. As much as I would like Capcom vs. SNK 3 in theory, I know that I wouldn't have the same experience with it as I would have 15-20 years ago. All the depth I want with games these days comes from Fire Pro and I'm happy about that 😎
