When it comes to wrestling tabletop games there's a surprisingly broad history, including an official WWE game (WWE Know Your Role). My personal favorite is World Wide Wrestling RPG. ndpdesign.com/wwwrpg/World Wide Wrestling RPG is a game that has been on the back burner for me. The roster's design is certainly creative, I just haven't gotten around to analyze whether the characters are based on real-life Wrestlers or not. The website drivethrurpg.com contains plenty of Tabletop Wrestling games. So many in fact, that I would easily classify them under their own sub-genre of board games. Without a doubt, a testament to how passionate Wrestling fans are towards the squared circle. One such roleplaying game that I discovered today on drive-thru RPG was All-Star Wrestling: Definitely picking up early WCW vibes here. Are those the Road Warriors or Nikita & Ivan Koloff? The Wrestler on the right resembles a cross between Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels.

As per Modern Mania Wrestling's April update, two new Wrestlers were added: Magnifico and Jr. are based on Rey Mysterio Jr. and presumably Dominik Mysterio. For the modern title, I don't think Rey Mysterio Sr. as an 80's Luchador would be relevant enough for Modern Mania Wrestling. April also saw the inclusion of Obsidian: a Wrestler inspired by the NXT-era Roman Reigns. 80's Mania Wrestling just released a new character as well! Fans are undecided whether this character is the Blue Blood era HHH, or William Regal.

Finally, I found the WWF RPG I had back in the days.
My buddy and I created so many wrestler sheets for all the WWF wrestlers, copied pictures from wrestling magazines, cut them out and glued them on the sheets. I think I still have them somewhere in a ring binder.
My copy never was so shiny.

I genuinely forgot that WWF game existed. I always think of this one:

While looking for older guides to purchase, I discovered that Google is now using my conversion for 2nd Bout as one of their main images! Putting those conversions together was a lot of fun, especially when it came to replicating the simpler graphic style of the era.

Guess who got two more Fire Pro guides on the way? Liger in fighting stance vs Pegasus Kid (Chris Benoit) on the cover.Fire Pro-Wrestling Retsuden (1992)Not to be confused with 'Thunder Pro-Wrestling Retsuden' - better known as Fire Pro's lone Megadrive port that was released the same year. The Fire Pro-Wrestling Retsuden guidebook is a weird oddity. Released by Keibunsha in 1992, the guidebook covers the first handful of Fire Pro titles including: - Combination Tag - 2nd Bout - and Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Of course, the guidebook seems to feature cartoon illustrations of the Wrestlers. None of which have ever surfaced online. In true Keibunsha fashion, the Retsuden guidebook also features a Wrestler interview: with Liger himself! Fire Pro-Wrestling 3 Legend Bout Guide BookKeibunsha's involvement with Fire Pro continued over to the PC Engine. Legend Bout was released in 1992, and served as the final Fire Pro on the PC Engine console. A common trend with the early Keibunsha guides was the fact that every Wrestler was often depicted performing their finishing moves. In the above pages, you may notice Tatsumi Fujinami performing a Dragon Suplex on The Great Muta, while over on the next page, Antonio Inoki unleashes an Enzuigiri on Genichiro Tenryu.

There was even a sequel. I heard the first one was pretty fun but I haven't gotten around to it. I don't watch a lot of movies.

As I mentioned in past posts, I've taken it upon myself to purchase every piece of Fire Pro-related literature that I can get my hands on. Recent acquisitions currently on the way include: Fire Pro-Wrestling 3 Legend Bout (1992 PC ENGINE)
Fire Pro Wrestling Retsuden (1992) Fire Pro-Wrestling Joshi All Star Dream Slam (1994)
Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special SPECIAL COMPLETE COLLECTION (1994 2 Disc BGM CD set)
Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Queen's Special (1994) Fire Pro-Wrestling Z Limited Edition ver. (2003)
Some of the guides haven't been cheap....
OUCH! Which inspired me to hunt these guides down on Japanese websites outside of eBay. Over in the Fire Pro Classic forum, I'm almost done scanning the Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X Winning Strategy book. There's just 70 pages left to go.
