Thank you, Pat. I love your videos (and even watch your 'history of...' videos at the gym on the treadmill).
If you ever plan to revisit the Fire Pro series (or, just cover these guides in greater detail), you are more than welcomed to use my scans.

Hello everyone! I recently joined Critical Club and VERY late to the wrestler appearance thread! I've been working on consolidating all the comments into a spreadsheet with filters. Page 1 of 35 down! Feel free to download a copy. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1E_FvLy_BAwcGrJCGZEvhtqAveQEj3aBm/edit?usp=drive_link&ouid=108139421106441606913&rtpof=true&sd=trueIt might be a bit before I jump back into it, I'm currently scanning the manual for Champion Wrestler on PC Engine to archive on Archive.org and making an English translation. You can check out the manual for Fire Pro Combination Tag in the Fire Pro Classic thread on this site. Also, thanks to Shadow Master for providing a plethora of knowledge and content to everyone for free!!! Unlike me :) If you want to support the translations/spreadsheets projects, all I ask is that you try a video on YouTube for @vgwaworld. A LONGTIME friend and I (known him since I was like 3) cover wrestling video games .

I just posted all 79 pages of Super Fire Pro-Wrestling 2's guidebook from 1993. Includes more Wrestler illustrations, tabbed out secret moves, and an interview with a young Minoru Suzuki! You can check out the full guide here: criticalclub.com/thread/1888/guidebook-scans-9-sfpw2?page=1&scrollTo=58486 Also...
For anyone who'd like to help support me in the process of acquiring: * game guides * instruction manuals * arcade flyers * promotional items * OST's and just about anything else retro gaming related to share with the Fire Pro community, you can donate to me directly via paypal.me/JustinZiadeh
As much as these scanning projects have been a labour of love for me, they are also quite expensive. Some of the books that I've imported from Japan have cost me well over one hundred dollars. And the truth is, there are still so many rarities out there that I would like to snap up for all of us.
Any donations, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to continuing this project, while sharing as many
pieces of gaming history with everyone - free of charge - for years to come. Thank you!

Recently, I've decided to start purchasing guidebooks beyond the Fire Pro-Wrestling series. Going further down the Puroresu rabbit hole, I've discovered (and have subsequently ordered) the following artifacts: Pro-Wrestling (Gameboy) Winning Strategy Special
Known as HAL Wrestling in the West, Pro-Wrestling was HUMAN's first Wrasslin' game released on the GAMEBOY. Japanese guide publisher Keibunsha (who have worked with HUMAN to publish many of the Fire Pro guidebooks that I've scanned in these forums) released this guide back in 1990, arguably making this publication the first time both companies worked together.
The cover features Ryu Masaki (Antonio Inoki) applying a Manji-gatame to Super Cyber (Jushin Liger). Pro-Wrestling
Another really rare gaming artifact is an original guidebook for Pro-Wrestling on the NES! This 1986 guide features illustrations for every Wrestler (including boss character Great Puma).
As many of you know, Pro-Wrestling was HUMAN's first Wrestling game, serving as the precursor to the Fire Pro-Wrestling series.

Did you know Ultimo Dragon was interviewed for a guidebook based on Super Fire Pro-Wrestling III Final Bout! At the moment, I'm in the process of scanning the full guidebook, which should be finished soon. Also, on page 16, you may notice another Wrestler likeness: Chief Wahoo McDaniel!

Amazing, no idea that Wahoo McDaniel wasn't any of the fire Pro games.

Amazing, no idea that Wahoo McDaniel wasn't any of the fire Pro games. While McDaniel was a major Wrestling star around the world, he really didn't make a big splash in Japan. Despite facing the likes of Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta, and even Antonio Inoki. On a related note, one Wrestling great that I always wanted to see in the early Fire Pro titles was The Sheik. Sadly, the only
appearances we got of the legend were 'Roger' in Hybrid Wrestler and 'Arabian' in Gekitou Burning Pro-Wrestling - both of which were released on the Super Famicom.

As always, great work! It is nice to see Chief Wahoo! Living in Texas, Wahoo was a major part of wrestling here. Back in the days when my parents and grand parents told me it was "real" wrestling not the "fake" cartoon wrestling I watched.

Some Fire Pro-related artifacts that I acquired lately: Obviously, plenty of Wrestler likenesses (both official and unofficial). Lots of scanning to be done ...and I still have one more guidebook on the way! And, yes ...that IS the 2-DISC Super Fire Pro-Wresling Special COMPLETE COLLECTION set. All the tracks are basically ripped from the game. No new arrangements or do-overs. Though, the quality of the tracks are actually superior to their in-game counterparts. I seen the set sell upwards of $200 in the past. Thankfully, I was able to purchase my set for half of that. $100 for a second-hand, 2CD set based on an obscure, 16-bit Japanese Wrestling game that came out 29 years ago? Why the heck not?!!
On top of the improved sound quality, the COMPLETE COLLECTION's instruction manual contains a brief history of Fire Pro's Super Famicom ports,
an interview with the Wrestlers of Fujiwara-Gumi, a sticker sheet, and an interview with the music composer! Just yesterday, I ripped the entire album in WAVE and MP3 formats. Just have to scan the booklet before posting.

While browsing through the Steam Workshop for screenshots of AEW Fight Forever, I noticed a recognizable costume accessory: The Road Warrior's iconic shoulder pads are included as edit pieces in Fight Forever's Create-A-Wrestler mode. I have also heard that Stone Cold's signature knee braces are also included, which makes me wonder if more subtle nods will be added in future updates.

Since Great Samurai is essentially an amalgamation of different Japanese Wrestlers, I'm pretty sure Shisho is based on legendary NJPW Dojo trainer Kotetsu Yamamoto.
Both are bald and carry a kendo stick - which Yamamoto was renown for. Depending on who you ask, some say Samurai is based on Ricky Steamboat. While Ricky did make waves in early AJPW, I think the likeness is closer to Riki Choshu - who also trained in the NJPW dojo. Since Cobra B. Joe is one of Champion Wrestler's noted heels, I personally think Crazy Tailor is based on General KY Wakamatsu. The heelish-looking Wakamatsu was best known as the manager of the Strong Machines in Japan. Wakamatsu is pretty much what you would get if you mixed Macho Man, Jimmy Hart and Dr. Willy from MegaMan into a blender.

I missed so much of Japanese wrestling growing up, I really need to revisit it. Your explanation of Wakamatsu sounds amazing! I’m intrigued!
As always, thanks for sharing you knowledge. It has been fun digging into the past of these games!
