Congrats to you on your team winning the Champions League. That's a pretty good feeling for any dedicated fan. Getting a fraction of their salaries would be sweet too :P

The Habs did it! They came back from a 3 game to 1 deficit and won the best of 7 series 4-3 against arch rivals Toronto Maple Leafs.

I'm really not sure who's had it worse these past 20 years, the Leafs who get hyped regularly and always end up failing spectacularly or the Sharks who always seem to catch fire at the end of the season just to sputter out in the playoffs. Mind you, Toronto's playoff woes predate the Sharks' existence but yeah, those two seem to be their conference's Charlie Browns.
Not to salt the wound of Leafs fans or the fans of any of the teams mentioned here but to put into perspective, here are the longest title droughts in the big 4 sports leagues:
MLB: Cleveland Indians, 1948 (73 years) NFL: Arizona Cardinals, 1947 (74 years; based in Chicago at the time) NBA: Atlanta Hawks, 1958 (63 years; based in St. Louis at the time)
NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs, 1967 (54 years)
For teams that didn't relocate after winning their last title, the Detroit Lions (1957, 64 years) and the Phoenix Suns (since their 1968 inception, 53 years ago) have their league's longest title droughts.
I wonder who will be the first to end the suffering

I’ve seen this over the years, seems a consistent and relevant feeling amongst leafs fans I’m out west, and not much of a hockey fan anymore anyway, but I can feel for dedicated fans that never get any satisfaction. The Oilers have a rabid and loyal following here in my neck of the woods, it’s hard to care, they’re so consistently... mediocre. They have two of the best players in the league and our barn (Rogers Place) is state of the art and one of the nicest in the NHL, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I managed to break out of the leafs cycle a very long time ago, so I’m free from the seasonal suffering! 😁

Wow, F1 race out of Baku, Azerbaijan was a bit of a heartbreaker in that my fave Max Verstappen had a random tire puncture while well in the lead with two laps remaining resulting in a safety stop while they cleared the track of debris. The restart was great, Lewis Hamilton channeled his inner Michael Schumacher, went for an asshole power move, and lost control of his car resulting in a last place finish. Vettel pulled off a second place podium finish, giving the new Aston Martin team their first constructors points, and Gasly and Alonso had a crazy back and forth war an the curvy Baku track where Gasly came out on top. Nice win for Mexico’s Sergio Pérez, he did a great job in this race. Awesome end despite Verstappens’s DNF result, I love when this happens in F1, it can get stagnant, especially when you get someone as dominant as Hamilton in there constantly winning, this was a fun race to watch, and the final two laps were better than the past five years of F1 my combined IMO! 🙂

Anyone else watching the NBA Playoffs this year? 🏀
Really cool seeing some players in the new generation take over and win series for rising teams.
It is disappointing that so many series have already and will likely end a certain way because of injuries. And this whole season has been a mess with injuries. Maybe it's just bad luck or maybe it's the short time in between seasons.
There have been some great matchups in the first round though. Nuggets/Blazers and Mavs/Clippers were fun. And there are still a few matchups in the second round that have non-squash potential.
I'm rooting for the Jazz but my guess is that we'll see a Clippers/Nets matchup in the Finals. I know the Jazz beat the Clippers last night but they are resilient and Kawhi plays his best recently with his back against the wall. That said., I think the Jazz was a more complete team than the Mavericks and are fresher as well. I don't know how far the Suns can go. They beat an injured Lakers and are on their way toward beating an incomplete Nuggets. I don't see the Bucks beating the Nets and I don't think the 76'ers or Hawks can either. I think the Clippers can if they get that far. I want to believe the Jazz can too but the Nets firepower may just be too strong even if Harden doesn't return.

Honestly, it's a bit refreshing to see teams like Atlanta and Phoenix make deeper runs into the playoffs. I have never been much of a fan of seeing the same team win or get close to winning every year so the idea that someone else actually has a chance is appealing. Mind you, the Nets and their collection of future Hall of Famers will "probably" win the title but it will be the franchise's first title and as well as the first for many on the team (including a certain bearded pariah).
So yeah, I agree. Really fun series this year. I kind of want to see PHX go all the way but we'll see. Can't look past anybody, even the Nuggets team that they embarrassed last night.

In NHL news, the Habs swept the Jets a couple of days ago. Incredible.

I had no idea the NBA was even playing… 😔
Nets vs Clippers potential finalists? It has been a LOOONG time since I’ve followed basketball I guess. Next you’ll tell me the Washington Generals crushed the Globetrotters. It’s cool to see the big guys backed off early, never been a fan of dynasty sports teams / entities either.
I didn’t know the NHL was playing either, and I work a block away from the Oilers barn. 😁

I don't see the Bucks beating the Nets. Hey now, don't be writing off my Bucks just yet. Series ain't over. They just have to protect home court and win one in Brooklyn. One game at a time 😎🏀

All I can think of for inspiration is Golden State's epic collapse against Cleveland several years ago. Led 3-1, then fell on their faces. I'm hoping the Nets do the same. Though that series used a 2-3-2 format. This one is 2-2-1-1-1. See what happens there. faulknasty

I don't see the Bucks beating the Nets. Hey now, don't be writing off my Bucks just yet. Series ain't over. They just have to protect home court and win one in Brooklyn. One game at a time 😎🏀 You called it! 🏆 Congratulations to your Bucks for not only making a huge comeback, but playing quality team basketball to finish the series against Kevin Durant going super-saiyan. And last night's Game 7 was one of the best basketball games I've ever seen. That huge KD shot leading to overtime was epic and then the Bucks managed to get their momentum back and finish up with some HUGE plays to finish OT. There have been so many lopsided matches this post season as well as huge momentum swings. It was refreshing to see a game that was close the entire game. I don't think the lead went beyond like 6 points for the entire game. The entire thing was so hotly contested and neither team got any real period of "phew, we're ahead by 10" only to then blow it later. A ton of credit to Giannis for coming back from the missed free throws too and hitting a high % after that. KD was an absolute monster the whole game and it sucks for him that he just didn't have enough support at the end.A ton of credit for the re-invented Blake Griffin this postseason. I can't say I'm shocked about today/tonight's results: Atlanta beat Philly to advance to the Conference Finals.
Also, Phoenix won Game 1 against the Clippers after Devin Booker went up a few experience levels. It's going to be a really interesting Conference Finals on each side. After Utah lost, I was pretty disappointed. That was my remaining team. Going forward, I don't have any strong feelings but I think I want to see Bucks/Clippers as long as Kawhi (and everyone else) is healthy.
