Seems kinda funny that the NHL is still calling the new season the 2020-21 season when the entire thing will be played in 2021, starting January 13. Consistency of labeling?
It also looks like they have new division arrangements. All of the Canadian teams are in one division now, presumably with room for Seattle to join them the year after.

That trophy is epic. Yeah, generally the big trophies are pretty heinous (FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl...), but a GIANT SWORD!

I miss the days of watching hockey when I was a kid, 80s into the mid 90s.
I remember the Wales and Campbell Conferences with the Smythe Division, Norris Division, Adams Division and Patrick Division.
It was always the hypothetical dream to have the Leafs-Canadiens final. Yes, they met before...but only in Original 6 era.
I know that they were in the same division for the past few seasons...but these realignments keeps getting on my nerves.
EDIT:
I did read a bit more about the playoff format...I like the idea Intra-divisional play, that's how they used to do it in the 80s.

An American consortium called ALK Capital have taken over my hometown Premier League team Burnley FC! Exciting times ahead for them.
I hope they're ready for when they play Blackburn in a match, once fans are allowed back. Should be an eye opener for them. The rivalry is fierce to put it politely.

I like that it's reference to the fact that team is owned by a video game developer.

Speaking of the NHL is it me or there going to be a LOT of old faces in new places next season?
Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Mikko Koivu, Alex Pietrangelo, and Henrik Lundqvist all switched teams this offseason after lengthy tenures as the faces of their respective franchises.
(unfortunately, Lundqvist has been diagnosed with a heart condition and will have surgery in a couple of days, possibly ending his career; that dude was way to good for the Rangers to waste and I wish him the best).
All of them spent a minimum of 12 seasons with their previous club, with Koivu, Pietrangelo, and Lundqvist having never played for another NHL team. Don't get me wrong, it's not unheard for for aging stars to finish their careers elsewhere (Jarome Iginla is one of my all-time favorite players and his last few years were spent bouncing around trying to win a Stanley Cup, and unfortunately failing, all after 17 years in Calgary; then there's the legend of one Raymond Bourque). It just seems unusual to see so many of them do it in the same season, at least to a relative casual like me.

Nasty brawl between Tulsa and Mississippi State today after the game. Just incredibly unprofessional conduct for no reason.

I also remember Mike Modano spending his last season in Detroit after so long with the Stars franchise, even back when they were still in Minnesota. Come to think of it, Daniel Alfredsson (previously of Ottawa) spent his last season in Detroit too, as I recall.

Ah! Another year, another Black Monday for the NFL
Our current pink slip recipients are:
Anthony Lynn of the Chargers Adam Gase of the Jets Doug Marrone of the Jaguars
None of these are any real surprise considering how awfully managed these teams were. I'm a bit surprised that the Bungles decided to retain Zac Taylor. I don't understand what they see in him.
I'm also semi-ok with the Broncos retaining Vic Fangio because the injuries were a bigger factor into their season rather than coaching. I think at this point it's obvious to everyone who is not Broncos ownership that Jon Elway is the clear elephant in the room. Good luck with trying to pink slip your city's messiah I guess.
UPDATE: Looks like Elway stepped UP to President of operations. I think that works fine because he'll have a new GM with a more fresh perspective on the team operations.

I just caught this on a top 100 plays of the year show,
And I’m not a golf fan by any means, but wow...

Both were probably the greatest single-moment highlights in their respective sports last year
I think that golf shot is probably the coolest shot I've ever seen, regardless of the fact that it was just a practice round. IIRC, it's a loose tradition at Augusta to attempt that shot in the practice round but I believe he's the only one who's ever eagled it off of the water like that.

So the "Philly Special" era that saw the Eagles win the Super Bowl three years ago is officially ended with today's firing of head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson came under much scrutiny, including from his own players, after removing starting QB Jalen Hurts in the 4th quarter of a game that they were only trailing by 3 pts. The Eagles went on to lose that game and talks began almost immediately about him "tanking," i.e. losing on purpose in order to secure a better position in this year's NFL Draft. Pederson was adamant that he was trying to win and that the plan to get the other QB (Nate Sudfeld) some live game reps was part of the game plan all along, the last part being something that the displaced Hurts himself confirmed. The rest of the team was apparently not aware of that plan and through their reactions to the move during the game and afterward, it appeared that Pederson had "lost the locker room," meaning that the players no longer respected or trusted him to lead.
The story on Pedersen's dismissal today is layered. The reason noted for his termination is that there was a "difference of philosophy" between Pederson the Head Coach and owner Jeffry Lurie. Pederson allegedly wanted to try to build another winner next season while Lurie wants to reset it and start from scratch (meaning building through the draft and free agency by clearing salary and/or trading away current players). Pederson wanted no part of that and was summarily dismissed. The "curious" thing about this to me is that if Pederson was as all-in on trying to win as he's being made out to be, then he surely wouldn't have made such a blatantly questionable call at a critical juncture in that final game. Hurts had only been starting for a few weeks and had showed some promise during that time but was having a bad game when he was yanked. Even with that consideration, the optics of it still look funny and makes me wonder if the call to effectively throw the game by putting in an even less experience QB was made from above. If that's indeed the case (we'll never know unless either Pederson or Lurie explicitly declares as such and that's very unlikely) then Pederson was effectively made a pariah for following orders and was then fired for wanting to do the job that he was brought in to do in the first place, i.e. coach a competitive football team.
