(did you actually remember that? lol) It's a really nice feeling when your favorite team wins the Championship of their sport π (It's a peculiar feeling when they win the Championship of another sport π ) I hope you enjoy it for a very, long time, Marsh π Your fandom of the Chiefs is well known around here!! π It actually sounds like it was a very good game this year too. Close, competitive, changes in the lead, and a big comeback at the end. Apparently the midichlorians re-birthed Mr. Peanut too so there's that π₯

Happy for the Chefs. Happy especially for Andy Reid. Well deserved.
Marsh, I'm glad to see that you've now experienced all the sports teams in your area win the big one during your lifetime.
Lots of ups and downs for sure, but KC waited long enough. Congratulations!
As for the Madden Curse, I feel like AB's fall from grace was so massive that the cover demons decided to spare Patty lol.

Marsh, I'm glad to see that you've now experienced all the sports teams in your area win the big one during your lifetime. That's one thing Marsh has over me. The Green Bay Packers won four Super Bowls in my lifetime, but I was old enough to only enjoy two of them (1996 and 2010). I was born in 1966. Super Bowl One was a few months after I was born. The Milwaukee Bucks won their only NBA championship when I was still a young kid just starting grade school, so I wasn't able to enjoy that either. They had some runs in the 80's and last year, but couldn't seal the deal. While they currently have an NBA best record of 41-7 (I think), I'm holding my breath and will not exhale until they get that title in June, probably against the Lakers. The Milwaukee Brewers made it to their only World series in 1982, falling short to the St. Louis Cardinals. They came close a couple years ago in a 7 game NLCS loss to the Dodgers and I'm not counting on them returning to the playoffs this year. In fact, it might be some time before I see the Brewers contend again as their farm system is currently depleted from trades. And the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team nearly pulled it off, losing to Duke in the 2014-15 National championship basketball game. That game hurt me the most of all the tough losses that I have experienced over the years. I was despondent for a few days because it was Wisconsin's best team in years and will never be matched again, at least not by their current coaching staff, but that's a discussion for another day. I'm not counting major college football because they don't have a true playoff system. National champions are still basically decided by a computer because only 4 of over 100 teams make the playoffs. It should be 16. But anyways, that's my story of being able to enjoy a championship on the national level. Congratulations to Marsh and his Chiefs :)

I'm about 2/3 the way there in terms of my favorite teams. If only the Pirates could finally get their shit together. Not holding my breath though.

(did you actually remember that? lol) How are you doing, Marsh? Still celebrating? π Did you get to go to the parade?

Heard there was a police pursuit along the route before the parade began. Kansas City (in the great state of MISSOURI) isn't used to this apparently.

^unfortunately, KC has a higher than normal crime rate so that wasn't really surprising it was also like the 3rd police chase in as many days (which is a bit of surprise, since those aren't particularly common here) timHonestly, it really hasn't set in yet. It's really been business as usual for me, with the exception of talking about the Chiefs just a bit more than usual (which was quite a bit to begin with). And no Tim, I didn't go to the parade. Even barring the shitty weather (which I'd have dealt with just fine), I just can't deal with large crowds. I get claustrophobic in full elevators. There's just no way that I'd manage being among several hundred thousand people very well. However, I did watch it for a couple of hours on TV after work. There were a couple of face-palm worthy incidents during the parade though. In one, Patrick Mahomes threw a football into the crowd from atop the parade bus and a guy who was trying to catch it didn't gauge his surroundings and ran smack into a parking meter. It really was like something out of Looney Tunes. Another incident that went somewhat viral saw a fan who was in a tree (there were actually a few dozen people perched like this) trying to jump to another limb in the tree, only for his pants to fall down, completely exposing his bottom. As he attempted to simultaneously hitch up his pants and jump to the limb, he fell well short of the mark and out of the tree. I later found out that I actually knew this guy a couple of years back lol (and yeah, it's completely a "him" kind of thing). Altogether, it was an interesting day, even for those of us who didn't make it down there.

The XFL has officially kicked off. I think the soft open seems more beneficial this time around and the rules seem interesting. The points after touchdown should produce some amusing results. Should also be interesting to see how the teams utilize the Team 9 talent pool in case of injury.
If I had to be a betting man, I'm thinking either the Dallas Renegades or the DC Defenders have the best championship aspirations based off of talent. Leaning more towards DC as I feel like if Houston goes anywhere it would have to somehow make Landry Jones a successful QB.

^thanks for the reminder that it's on
I didn't realize that Keenan Reynolds was in this thing
He was one of my favorite college players at Navy and it's cool that he gets a crack at this after not making it in the NFL (where he was converted from an option QB to WR, his position with Seattle in the XFL)
Also recognized DC quarterback Cardale "We ain't come to play school" Jones and NCAA career rushing leader Donnell Pumphrey.
At least in this game, I feel like there are more guys under the age of 25 than there were in the original XFL but I was a teenager then and didn't pay attention THAT closely to it.
