Nah, I think it'll at least go one full season. After all, the original did.

The AAF also couldn't make payroll after Week 2.
I think they'll make it a full season again, but who knows if Vince will learn from his mistakes. If the WWE product is any indicator, probably not.

And now Black Monday begins in the NFL. The Browns fired Freddie Kitchens. Doug Marrone is probably out. And Jason Garrett will not be back. Pat Shurmur is on the chopping block too.
The two interim coaches in Carolina and Washington will not be retained either. In fact, Washington is rumored to hire Ron Rivera.
As for the playoffs, the NFC is loaded. Any one of the 6 teams could represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Even Philly, who are hot right now.
The AFC only has Baltimore and Kansas City as legitimate threats. I can't see the other four teams going to Miami.
What say you, Marsh and Zealot?

They may have lost to Miami today but you can never count out New England. Baltimore and KC are definitely the favorites but Belichick knows how to win games when it matters as much as I hate that team.
In the nfc I pretty much agree maybe Minnesota is probably on the decline but I would not be surprised if any team in the NFC made the Superbowl.

Black Monday: my favorite day in the NFL season.
Kitchens was a no-brainer. Dude has no clue how to coach or discipline his team. The Browns are a better team than 6-10 and they need a sharp, offensive mind to turn around Baker's regression.
The "Quarterback Whisperer" trend in coach hires needs to die. While it has worked slightly with McVay and LaFleur, too many teams tried chasing this trend to the point where they overlooked actual coaching experience and playcalling.
Shurmur was basically damage control for the Giants as they rebuilt their team. They still have a ways to go and need the same thing as the Browns do so that Daniel Jones doesn't regress. Keeping Gettleman was a mistake though. Dude basically ruined the Panthers before leaving and if Jones busts, it'll just set back the G-Men for more years.
Rivera getting hired by the Redskins is whatever. Just ensures risky gambling on plays and consistent mediocrity. Nothing will change in Washington until Dan Snyder sells the team. Makes me feel sorry for actual talented players like Haskins and McLaurin. At least they fired their GM/President though. How anyone can say the culture is awesome there considering the stories like the Trent Williams cancer fiasco among others is beyond reason.
If the Cowboys don't get red of "The Clapmaster" for good, that tells me all I need to know about Jerry Jones in that he will never change. If he wants to coach the team so bad, he needs to be on the sidelines instead of the puppets he hires to not talk back to him.

I agree with Faulknasty that New England is still pretty formidable, even in an obvious "down" season (when they still won 12 games). I think the AFC in general is interesting because each of the 6 playoff teams has had a "wow" game where they looked like a legitimate championship contender against another very good team and really, any of them are capable of catching fire and going on that run. Baltimore is certainly the team to beat but even they've looked vulnerable against some of their stronger opponents throughout the season. It's probably no secret who I'm rooting for and while the offense hasn't put up video game numbers like last year, they've still been VERY efficient and the defense is NOT a liability like it has been for the last several seasons. The latter unit isn't "elite" but they're certainly good enough to slow down good offensive units, something that last year's version failed to do with alarming consistency. Needless to say, I feel better about our chances this season. The NFC is interesting because while it wouldn't necessarily be pretty, I think the Packers can beat anybody and Frisco at their best is the most unstoppable team in the NFC. There's absolutely no reason to not think the Saints can make a run at it either (still think last year should have been their year along with a certain Midwestern AFC team). I think Minnesota and Seattle are too banged up to shock the world and the Eagles don't have Nick Foles to rescue them should things go awry with Wentz so yeah, I'm thinking one of those first three will make the Bowl.

In addition to the Redskins and Cowboys, we can add the Browns to the list of incompetent NFL owners.
The Haslams let go Browns GM John Dorsey. I thought Dorsey was a decent GM whose only mistake was hiring Freddie Kitchens as HC.
Should be interesting to see if the Browns will either hire another GM or hire a coach with total football control.

Watching Russia vs Sweden in the semifinal of this year’s world junior hockey tournament, great back and forth play with so much speed and skill, but MAN, the officiating... Sweden has had 14 minor penalties leading up to this game and have had SEVEN called on them in the first two periods of this game alone! It’s hard to not think these refs are getting paid off when you see some of the calls (tripping called on a perfectly executed hip check in the neutral zone right in front of the ref, too many men when one Swede player tripped getting off of the ice into the box, shit like that.). The refs also spent five minutes reviewing a miracle save by Hugo Alnefelt when he clearly stoped the shot with no chance of it crossing the goal line, at least the Swedes got a break. More than half of Russia’s shots came in their power plays, so it’s shitty to see what could be a good game decided by shitty officiating! Tie game at second intermission, this is great stuff, I hope the officials get their shit together and let these two great teams play (Heja Sverige! I want to see them in the gold medal game vs Canada or Finland, either would be a fun match up!😈)!
UPDATE: another heartbreaker for Sweden when Morozov gets the OT winner off of the post with a nice shot under Alnefelt’s arm, good read of the transition during player switch by Morozov led to the opportunity. Oh well, maybe Finland can stop the Russians in the gold medal game ( Canada hot SKUNKED by Russia in round Robbin play). Guess we’ll see how Canada vs Finland goes in a few hours! This is great hockey, what happens to these guys when they hit the NHL?!?...

So is anyone else happy to hear the Pats are already out of the playoffs? I kind of wanted to see the Chiefs potentially do the "unthinkable" and beat them twice in a season but I'm certainly not lamenting their early exit.
At least I'll actually watch the Super Bowl this year, regardless of whether my team plays or not.
I'm sorry but when the same team is in nearly half of the Super Bowls for 2 decades, it gets a bit fucking old seeing them there and I just don't care to watch them. Yeah, they're good* and great* and all of that shit but seeing them isn't interesting, at all. Thankfully, that won't be the case this year and hopefully it won't be for a good while longer.
Anyhow, I'm just hoping that my Chiefs can get that win back against a Texans team that beat them at Arrowhead earlier in the season. The Chiefs are notably healthier now than then (including Mahomes, who played that game on a sprained ankle) and the defense that was pretty shitty up through that 1st meeting has actually been one of the top units in the NFL since week 10 of the season (which, oddly enough, was a loss to fellow divisional playoff team Tennessee). The Chiefs are the betting favorite but I've seen far too much football to think that actually means anything of note. As much as I like seeing teams spite Vegas, I'm really hoping to see the Chiefs in a 2nd consecutive AFC Championship game and perhaps even in the one thing I've waited my entire life for: to see the Chiefs play in the Super Bowl. I can't even fathom a Super Bowl win at this point. It all starts on Sunday.
edit: here were the Chiefs' inactives for that first Texans game
everyone but O'Daniel and Senat are starters
Fisher was a Pro Bowler at Left Tackle a season ago
Watkins has maddening inconsistency but he has all of the skills and athleticism to be a #1 WR (he's the Chiefs' #2, opposite a certain "fastest player in the NFL) Jones was an ALL-PRO defensive tackle last season and a Pro Bowler this season; he's been the Chiefs' most consistent pass rusher for the last 3.5 seasons.
Hitchens has led the team in tackles each of his two seasons here (including this one, despite missing the one game)
Wylie's a solid guard and the team was notably worse without him......until signing veteran Stefen Wisniewski when the OTHER starting guard went down Wisniewski's done well in both roles and will see rotation in Sunday's game, even if both guards are healthy.
So yeah......in week 6, there were some serious pieces missing (and more, like Mahomes and the previously alluded to #1 WR both playing through injuries).
No excuses now. Just go out and do it.
Please.

On the NFL's 100th year, wouldn't it be great to see the two teams that played in the very first Super Bowl do it again?
Packers and Chiefs.
Let's go :)
